Find out what's new to TAWS and what to expect coming from Season 2!
Everyone is so quick to be offended. So quick to comment, slow to listen, and slow to have a conversation. It is SO easy to get offended and SO easy to get offended QUICKLY with the way social media works. I mean, your phone is always with you, so that means all the socials are always with you, too! I've got a great football analogy in this one for you, about practice, planning, strategy, and of course offense and defense. This episode is about spiritual warfare, our mental health, our spiritual health, our relationships, our parenting, and our businesses. Each of these things can take a MAJOR hit if we walk around offended all day long. You were not made for a small life, you are being called to do THAT thing. So, friend, do you actually have the time to be offended? I've got some tips, strategies, and game plans to share with you. Grab your coffee, get comfy, and join in!
Have you ever known in your knower that you are made for more? Do you feel like you're being called to do something but get stuck in the start of it? Today's Episode is all about breaking down a few of the most common excuses we all tell ourselves. “I don't know how” or “I don't have the time” or “It's not the right time” or maybe even “I don't have the money” I go through each of these things and give you some advice to break through these excuses and get moving. If God is calling you to it he will bring you through it, but you need to start! “Just because God is in it doesn't mean it's going to be easy.” I'm so glad to be back, and so glad I took the time away to invest in my family for summer 2020. I opened up a little on this one with the struggles that have been going on, as well as a fun story of showing God's work in my life at the end. Hope you enjoy!
School and 2020 have been in a battle and they have been my NUMBER ONE conversation amongst my mom friends over the past several months. In March it was shutdown, crisis learning, and all the things. Now the conversation has shifted into WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN for the start of school? So much worry, anxiety, fear, doubt, stress and unknown is hitting so many of the people I love right smack dab in the forehead. Friends, I'm right there with you! As a momma of 3 littles (2 in school and then the bonus babe who is almost 2!) I've had sleepless nights, arguments with my hubster, and LOTS of chats over coffee and over the phone. Everyone is asking "what are you going to do with your kids?" We discuss ALL the possible things, all the what ifs, the CDC guidelines, that pros and cons to all of the scenarios and still after each conversation shrug our shoulders with a "I dunno". If you're with me on this crazy ride, then this episode is for you! I'm here to give you some peace of mind, some encouragement, some prayer, and some motivation. I talk about worry, focus, pleasing everyone, making the right decision for your family, visioning the victory, faith, and buckets of grace. Momma friends, we are in this together and I encourage you to have faith, it's all going to work out. Don't let worry steal your today. The bible verse surrounding this episode is Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it's own."

This episode needs a small back story. Last year our kids really wanted to create their own podcast. We recorded 4 episodes! life happens, and I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to make that commitment with them with school starting up and all things life. So this episode was recorded last August, when Amara was 5 and Eli was 4. I decided this week was a perfect time to introduce and share with you all this special episode. "Silly Stories" is something that is made for children to listen to. Each episode is short, silly, and gives a good lesson in the end. Episode 4 is what i'm sharing because we talked about how even though people are different God still calls us to love each other. If someone has glasses, braces, a wheelchair, darker skin, or lighter skin, we still love them! This year our conversations have gotten deeper, more serious, and more real, but this is a good place to start if you want to open up to your kids in a conversation about God, love, and differences. Hope you enjoy our kids on this one!
In this episode my BFF Dominic joins the show. We really just wanted to pull back the curtain on a typical conversation that we have. We talk about interracial dating, raising biracial kids, growing up going to christian school, social media, stereotypes, hair, and so much more. We understand the weight of the conversation, but also bring in some laughs as well. We really wanted you to feel like you were sitting in the room with us and realize that even though we make look different on the outside we all bleed the same. One of the topics is the "Bubble" whether you're finding yourself in a white bubble, a black bubble, or keeping your kids in a bubble and HOW we can implement change inside those bubbles. How being intentional about being inclusive not just for your life but for your children as well is a GOOD thing and so very needed. My hope in this episode is that when you listen you can hear our concerns, our heavy hearts, our ability to agree on the changes needed, our love for each other and our kids, our goals for the future, our similarities, and our differences.
This discussion isn't the first and won't be the last when it comes to diversity, inclusion, racism, privilege, understanding, and education. I'm here to say I'm not perfect, I'm a work in progress. It is so important to answer your own why questions, like; Why is my neighborhood all white? Why is my circle of friends all white? Why did Christian (private) schools start? Why did the police start or form? Why are you more upset about riots and looting than murder? Why do you feel there is no such thing as white privilege? My hope and my prayer is that you can join me in my living room, have a cup of coffee and really hear my heart on this episode. Join the conversation, begin your learning or unlearning journey and be a part of the change that needs to happen. Together. Together. Together.
The featured guest on this episode is Dr. Chelsea Page! She is the founder and owner of Intentional Intimacy and is a women's empowerment and relationship coach. Chelsea shares some of the struggles her clients have and how she helps them work through what their problems are. A few points on the episode include obligation, scheduling, communication, boundaries, prioritizing, quality vs quantity, expectations, routine, and so much more. With so many changes happening in our lives with stay at home orders, fear, work, job loss, school changes, and more, it can be so difficult to make sure your marriage is a priority. Hopefully this one helps out your marriage, whether you are struggling now or have in the past this is a great one to listen to! We talk about a few of the books he's reading and how our internal dialogue really shapes the reality in which we exist, what are you telling yourself right now? What is your personal narrative? She tells about their upcoming move to Nagpur, India. We talk a little about the pandemic of covid-19 and how we are both doing. Also, she gives some great advice and bible verses to read. Here are a few of my favorite things she said: “Delayed Obedience is still disobedience” “Peace comes after the Yes.” “Each of us is called and challenged in our own journeys to obey where we are” “How are we preparing before the crisis comes? In the same way, how are we preparing before the call comes?" “Really take a hold of what your self care looks like” "Spread Calm." "How can we be encouraging to those around us?" "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." Scriptures: Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it's own.” If you'd like to connect more with Kinita about her business and her partnership with India, or how you can support her, please email her at: kinita@seemaglobalconsulting.com Or follow their journey through Facebook: @seemaglobalconsulting
