Renowned wildlife ecologist Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant visits Google to discuss her book “Wild Life: Finding My Purpose in an Untamed World,” where she explores the ever-shifting relationship between humans, animals, and the Earth.  Growing up in the diverse and bustling California Bay Area, renowned wildlife ecologist Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant always felt worlds away from the white male adventurers she watched explore the wilderness on TV. She dreamed of a future where she could spend sleepless nights under the crowded canopies of the Amazon and the starry skies of the savanna. But as Rae set off on her own expeditions in the wild, she saw nature's delicate balance in a new light. Wild Life follows Rae on her adventures and explorations in some of the world's most remote locales. Hers is a story about a nearly twenty-year career in the wild—carving a niche as one of very few Black female scientists—and the challenges she had to overcome, expectations she had to leave behind, and the many lessons she learned along the way. How does each of us find our sovereignty, our sense of what it is to have agency and be alive in the world, and align this with the part in all of us that is anchored in compassion, connection and empathy?  How, in short, do we encounter and encourage our own sovereign feminine?Dr Maggie Ostara is a long-time friend of the podcast - she was with us in episode 116 when we talked about finding our purpose in the world: What's mine to do, what's yours to do and what's ours to do together?  I've put a link to this in the show notes in case you want to go back and listen.  Since then, Maggie has written the international Amazon best-seller: Feminine Sovereignty: Eight Pillars for Regenerating Ourselves and Our World.  It was published towards the end of last year and I've been wanting to talk to Maggie ever since.  Her book is absolutely of our time and for our time: it's courageous and hard-hitting in terms of its dissection of where we are, but it's full of compassion and wisdom and embodied exercises that you can do as you go along.  And as you'll hear in the podcast, in 2024 she'll be offering the Feminine Sovereignty Explorers Club and the Feminine Sovereignty Leadership Incubator based in the principles of the 8 Pillars.  She's a certified Human Design and Quantum Human Design Specialist, Level 4, a certified Radiant Body Yoga Instructor, and a certified Clarity Breathwork Practitioner. She supports her global audience through her thriving YouTube channel and works with clients 1:1 and in groups. So this is a perfect sequel to Nina Simons last week - yet again, we are talking about ways of finding the god within - and engaging outwards with the world. Maggie's previous Accidental Gods episode #116 https://accidentalgods.life/daring-to-risk/Where to buy the book and/or get the first 50 pages for free FeminineSovereigntyBook.com Where to find out about the Feminine Sovereignty Explorers Club FeminineSovereigntyBook.com/explorersclubWhere to find out more about the Feminine Sovereignty Leadership Incubator FeminineSovereigntyBook.com/incubatorWhere to find out more about Human Design SovereigntybyDesign.com and YouTube.com/maggieostaraphdSusan Harper, Master Teacher of Continuum ContinuumMontage.com Where to find Maggie on Facebook Facebook.com/maggiesaleostaraWhere to find Maggie on Instagram Intstagram.com/SovereigntybyDesign

Walk Through Open Doors // New Years Encouraging Word

Flow - Jordan Hawkins

I have never been someone who needed a “word from God” for the new year. As I sat down with my coffee a few mornings back I was open to direction. God, what do you have for me this year? Is there anything I'm missing? What or who do you want to open my eyes to in this coming year? As I prayed, I quickly journaled “Walk through the open doors.” In my mind, I connected this with thoughts of the new year. 2023 was a year of transition, anxiousness, and rest. As I received the word about open doors, I began to see all the places in my life where I stood at closed doors. I was knocking, turning door knobs, and if I'm honest, trying to pick a few locks. I was trying to break into places where God wasn't calling me and grace wouldn't have kept me. You see, impatience will always attempt to lead you around the promise to get the blessing. The problem with taking things into our own hands is that the scriptures say that all good things come from Him. There is no shame in this message. It is 100% in our human nature to take things into our own hands. Trust is built, earned, and learned. We must now or later, learn to trust that our father knows best. It's worth taking a deep breath to know that we don't have to pick any locks or break into any windows this year. Abba has opened doors for each of us. It may not be fully what we expected, but the promise is that it will be better! Revelation 3:8 says, “I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close.” Instead of feeling shame that we've taken control again, what if we simply slow down and release each of the things that we need to trust Him with? Freedom and joy always come when we release control and trust Him. Encouraging Monthly Emails From Me! Join Karaleigh in an interview with the beautiful Tina Saad, mother of two beautiful children Zainab & Abdulrahman. She is an empowerment coach, entrepreneur and motivational speaker. Favorite takeaways: 1. At the end of the day you decide what voice are you gonna let in and what decision you are gonna make. 2. Each one of us has a unique story- don't compare yourself to somebody else. 3. The transformation did not happen until I started to do what I love to do. 4. When you want something, you make time for it. When you don't, you make excuses. 5. When you do the things that light you up, then you're lit up! Then you have the energy and the patience and the bandwidth to deal with the rest of the things that get thrown at you in your day. But when you don't feed your soul and do those things that bring you energy, then when something goes wrong, your reactions are a lot worse. And it's just a cycle that doesn't end. It has to start with you feeding your own soul. 6. You have to be responsible for where your energy is at. 7. Now I know I never want to lose myself again. 8. When you put that energy and effort into yourself, when you give yourself compassion and you give yourself love and you put time towards feeding your soul, you're a better parent! It's not selfish, you're not taking away from your loved ones, you're actually making yourself a better person to be around! 9. Wherever you're at, you're at the right place. Wherever you're at. Do you set New Year's resolutions or new goals this time of year, or are you like me and go through a reflection process to choose one word for the year that serves as a compass or a guide? While I do think goals can be very powerful when done correctly, I first have to know where my focus is. Because this focus will guide my mindset and help me course correct when I get off track, choosing my one word to focus on each year makes achieving my goals much more likely. Since this is the first episode of 2023, I'll share about my own reflection process and what happened with last year's word. I'll also share with you how I chose my word for this year and offer some guiding questions and things to consider so you can choose your own word for 2023. My word is what I need in my life right now, and your word will be very different and should reflect what you need. I hope listening to this episode will help you find your own compass for the year.
