Música popular cubana en 78 revoluciones x minuto. Ediciones que nos recuerdan algo del quehacer del pianista, arreglista y director de orquesta Bebo Valdés en plena década del 50. "Ritmando chá chá chá", pieza emblemática de Bebo con la sonoridad de la Orquesta "Riverside", da paso a otras dos temas de su autoría en el repertorio de ese notable jazz band, conducido por el saxofonista Pedro Vila. Mambo y swing desde una memorable audición en CMQ RadioCentro. "Güempa" y "Oye cómo gozo mama". Escuchemos el "son capetillo" que defendía el tresero Arsenio Rodríguez en la gran ciudad de New York. El guaguancó y el montuno a la manera de Arsenio, los grandes desvelos del ciego maravilloso. Trilogía vocal completada por Capo, Cándido Antomattei y Manolo en discos "Tico". Como en los innumerables sainetes criollos que acompañó en sus largos años de gloria, los centenarios compases de la orquesta del Teatro "Alhambra" vuelven a escucharse mientras subimos el telón. "El verraco está en la yuca", danzón de Felipe Valdés, nos acerca a La Habana que estrenaba el siglo XX. Con apenas medio millón de habitantes la popularidad del llamado teatro vernáculo en la capital cubana propició la aparición de numerosos teatros donde solía presentarse lo más valioso del género. Entre escenarios como "Payret", "Albisu ", "Cubano", "Campoamor", "Polyteama Grande", "Polyteama chico", "Nacional", "Principal de la Comedia" y "Armenoville", entre otros, brilló con luz propia el "Alhambra". Hasta el final de sus días el maestro Eduardo Robreño defendió las memorias de aquel sabroso antro del bufo, ubicado en las calles Consulado y Virtudes. En las tablas del "Alhambra" la picaresca criolla y la sátira política fueron platos fuertes bien servidos logrando, durante más de tres décadas y media, la increíble proeza de mantener su cartelera ininterrumpidamente. Federico Villoch, Regino López y Arias, desde el 10 de noviembre de 1900 hasta febrero de 1935 cuando se desplomó parte de su construcción, propiciaron que en en sus tablas crecieran artísticamente las figuras más relevantes del bufo en la Isla. Seguidamente: Arquímedes Pous y Ramón Espigul junto a Conchita Llauradó y Lola Mayorga, respectivamente. El negrito y la mulata, personajes claves de aquella cofradía donde también brillaron el gallego, el guajiro y el chino. Acompañados invariablemente por sones, rumbitas y guarachas, jamás dejaron de resonar con el pueblo. A continuación el guajiro y el negrito: Carlos Zarzo y Sergio Acebal. "El comienzo de la carretera". En la sencillez y aparente ingenuidad de sus textos y pasajes melódicos el público más humilde pudo ver reflejadas sus esperanzas, frustraciones, tristezas y alegrías. Sonidos donde sigue latiendo el pulso de una Isla al parecer condenada a vivir permanentemente, como en las tablas del viejo teatro bufo, entre la risa y el llanto. El 10 de octubre de 1922 nació oficialmente la radio cubana. Fue Rita Montaner parte del elenco artístico que intervino en la transmisión inaugural de la PWX de la Cuban Telephone Company. A poco más de un siglo de este acontecimiento el recuerdo de esta importante figura del teatro, el cine, la radio y la televisión llega con el respaldo de la orquesta CMQ, bajo la conducción del maestro Enrique González Mánticci. Luis Carbonell, el acuarelista de la poesía afroantillana, alguna vez fue presentado por dos míticas voces de la radio cubana: Eusebio Valls y Xiomara Fernández. Fragmentos del estelar show: "De fiesta con Bacardí". Regresamos a la Avenida Infanta marcada con el número 105. A partir de 1953, en el flamante estudio-teatro de los Hermanos Fernández: Radio Progreso, los cantantes y agrupaciones más destacadas de la época interactuaban con el público. Rolando Laserie con la banda de Bebo Valdés, Xiomara Alfaro con la jazz band "Hermanos Castro". La despedida a cargo de Celio González y Celia Cruz junto a Rogelio Martinez y Caíto con el conjunto "Sonora Matancera".

Uno de los horcones fundamentales de la música popular cubana. La inmensa obra autoral e interpretativa de Miguel Matamoros, cantante, guitarrista y compositor santiaguero (a 53 años de su muerte) sigue representando lo más auténtico de nuestra música a nivel mundial. Una verdadera suerte que esta cápsula del tiempo despegue al compás de ciertos sones de Don Miguel. El 15 de abril de 1971, en su natal Santiago de Cuba, la leyenda Matamoros partió a la luz. Había nacido el 8 de mayo de 1894. Los sucesivos éxodos provocados por la dictadura, desde de los primeros años 60, han incidido indiscutiblemente en la suerte del sector artístico musical. Durante más de seis décadas importantes figuras del canto lirico como Xiomara Alfaro, Marta Pérez, Panchito Naya, Zoraida Marrero, Hortensia Coalla, Sarita Escarpenter, Armando Pico, Manolo Alvarez Mera, Ninón Lima y Humberto Diez, por sólo citar algunos, murieron lejos de Cuba. Desafortunadamente el 13 de abril de 2024 se sumó a esa lista el destacado barítono Ramón Calzadilla quien falleció en Cuernavaca, México, su segunda patria desde los años 90. Hoy recordaremos el arte de este maestro del canto lirico con dos canciones que interpretó el 23 de mayo de 1965 en el entrañable espacio televisivo "Album de Cuba". "Nunca te lo diré" y "Seré feliz cuando tú me quieras", dos piezas originales de los maestros Gonzalo Roig y Adolfo Guzmán, respectivamente. Otra de las creaciones de Matamoros nos permite seguir viaje y regresar a los míticos estudios de la CMQ RadioCentro, estrenados en marzo de 1948 en la intersección de 23 y M del Vedado habanero. Es el trío de Servando Díaz con su formación del año 1950: Otilio Portal, Mario Recio y Servando. El 10 de octubre de 1922 la señal de la PWX inauguró con carácter oficial la era radiofónica en Cuba. Desde el primer día la música en directo presentó credenciales. Así, en las décadas siguientes, y en un país tan musical como el nuestro fue elemento indispensable a la hora de vertebrar las más variadas programaciones. Rita Montaner, la legendaria figura del teatro, el cine, la radio y la televisión, formó parte del elenco escogido por la directiva de la pionera PWX de la Cuban Telephone Company para estrenar su señal. Verdadero monstruo de la escena, casi tres décadas después, "La Única" continuaba dando batalla, siendo presencia habitual en los espacios de más rating. El ambiente y la energía de estas presentaciones en directo (y con público) nos permiten descubrir a una Rita Montaner libre de las limitaciones de tiempo de los discos de la época y por tanto más desenvuelta. Su voz, gracias a la avanzada técnica de grabación que, a finales de los años 40, instalaba Mestre en los estudios de CMQ, llega con mayor calidez, en contraste con las añejas grabaciones que efectuó para la etiqueta norteamericana Columbia, finalizando los años 20. Registros que a pesar de su deficiente sonido impulsaron, sin lugar a dudas, su carrera artística. Desde los estudios de la calle 25 y 10, en el Vedado, el incansable Laureano Suárez hacia historia produciendo cientos de miles de grabaciones para marcar la diferencia en el dial con su Radio Cadena Suaritos. Se despedían los años 40 y entre las estrellas que presentaba Suaritos sobresalía Miguelito Díaz (ex cantante del trío "Pinareño") como parte de "Los Cumbancheros". María Teresa Vera y Lorenzo Hierrezuelo divulgaron, en infinidad de audiciones en la Radio Cadena Suaritos, lo más valioso del cancionero trovadoresco. Como breve muestra le arrebatamos al olvido estas versiones de "La rosa número 1" y "La rosa número 2", creaciones del insigne compositor Pepe Sánchez. Interpretar ambas piezas, según los trovadores de la primera mitad del siglo XX, era una verdadera prueba de fuego.

Celeste Mendoza, una de las grandes de la música popular cubana. Finalizando la década de los 50s el respaldo comercial de la etiqueta independiente Gema, de los hermanos Álvarez Guedes, le brindó además los arreglos y conducciones orquestales de los maestros Ernesto Duarte y Bebo Valdés. Su formidable despliegue escénico y el dominio de la rumba y el guaguancó la convirtieron por designio popular, hasta el final de sus días, en "la reina del guaguancó". Hace 68 años: el 16 de enero de 1956 un nuevo conjunto salía a la palestra musical. Después de poco más de 11 años como vocalista del Conjunto Casino, el sonero de Regla: Roberto Faz fundaba su propia agrupación. Sus primeras grabaciones desde esa fecha hasta 1961, efectuadas para etiquetas independientes como Puchito, Panart, Rosy, Seeco y Maype, además de las apariciones en radio, televisión y bailables de la época, fueron consolidando aún más su popularidad. A propósito de este aniversario recordamos a Roberto Faz con una de sus últimas intervenciones en la televisión cubana. En el canal 6, en diciembre de 1965, se produjo un show animado por Consuelo Vidal donde el sonero, quien fallecería apenas cuatro meses más tarde el 26 de abril, pudo despedirse en grande de su publico. Más de cien años nos separan de aquel 10 de octubre de 1922 cuando las antenas de la PWX de la Cuban Telephone Company inauguraban con carácter oficial la era radiofónica en la Isla. Desde el primer día la música en directo demostró su marcada importancia para sostener las futuras programaciones. En los variados elencos artístico-musicales que con el auge de la radio cubana articularon las diferentes emisoras para reforzar sus programaciones, comenzaron a sobresalir las formaciones femeninas, en especial los dúos y tríos completados por hermanas. Así recordamos a las hermanas santiagueras Cusa, Trini y Nerza Márquez. Antes de radicar en los Estados Unidos en 1951, participaron activamente en espacios estelares de la radio como el "Gran Show de la Mañana" de la CMQ, entre 1948 y 1949. En dos tiempos las cubanísimas Hermanas Márquez. A la altura del nuevo milenio, y gracias al empeño de Paquito de Rivera y el productor español José Luis Rupérez, Trini y Nerza pudieron despedirse en grande del público amante de la música popular cubana. Seguimos el rastro de la memoria radiofónica. Así el gran Bola de Nieve nos recuerda aquellos años de música en directo. Un círculo extrañamente mágico se cerró con su muerte el 2 de octubre de 1971 en México, la tierra que le había abierto las puertas del éxito a comienzos de los años 30.

El 10 de octubre de 1922 la señal de la PWX, de la Cuban Telephone Company inauguraba, con carácter oficial, la era radiofónica en Cuba. A poco más de cien años de distancia de aquel crucial acontecimiento, no podemos olvidar los esfuerzos de pioneros de la radio como el capitán Luis Casas Romero quien, con la modesta señal de su planta 2LC, meses antes había surcado el éter habanero. "El Mambí", clásico de la música cubana, original del músico y capitán, es el preámbulo adecuado para continuar repasando algunos sonidos que nos devolverán el esplendor de la radio en directo. Miguelito Valdés, cantante estrella del jazz band "Casino de la Playa", desde los primeros años 40 desarrolló en los Estados Unidos una carrera ascendente. Durante esa década y la siguiente regresó a Cuba siempre que tuvo la oportunidad. Un tema infaltable en su repertorio y que además le abrió las puertas del éxito fue el afro de Margarita Lecuona: "Babalú". El 5 de diciembre de 2023 un hecho inaudito puso de manifiesto, una vez más, la profunda incompetencia de las instituciones culturales cubanas. La noticia que hubiera regocijado a músicos y artistas, dentro y fuera de la Isla, se ha convertido en motivo de descontento y asombro. Amén de su aceptación por una parte de la comunidad cultural (por simple ingenuidad, desconocimiento o afinidad con las habituales ordenanzas) este no es más que otro amargo fruto de la incapacidad de las autoridades a cargo de la cultura en la Isla. Aunque Cuba es miembro de la Unesco desde el 29 de agosto de 1947, en 2018 las autoridades mexicanas presentaron, de manera unilateral, la propuesta del bolero como "patrimonio inmaterial de la humanidad". Atendiendo a este antecedente la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO) acaba de certificarlo. A última hora Cuba se sumó a la solicitud, pero no de manera independiente como correspondería teniendo en cuenta que el bolero es un género originario de Santiago de Cuba. Precedente a tener en cuenta ante la desidia institucional en momentos en que otros países ya tienen expedientes abiertos para legitimar como suyos géneros de innegable origen cubano como el Son. Grandes voces del bolero le pondrán sentimiento a este segmento de Cubakústica: Graciela Grillo, Beny Moré, Elena Burke, Tito Gómez, Doris de la Torre y Pablo Milanés y Olga Guillot. Buen recuerdo para el actor Julito Díaz quien fuera uno de los grandes del teatro criollo. Sus cualidades artísticas le permitieron recorrer innumerables escenarios. En salas teatrales, cabarets, estudios cinematográficos, de radio y televisión, hasta llegar a los discos, cubrió una extensa trayectoria artística. Hoy en el recuerdo Julito Díaz. Le acompañan viejos colegas del teatro: Blanquita Becerra, Rolando Ochoa y Germán Pinelli. Boricua de nacimiento y cubano de corazón, Daniel Santos vivió y saboreó hasta la saciedad aquel singular paraíso terrenal que fue La Habana de los años 40 y 50. Lo hizo a plenitud, siendo noticia tanto en lo musical y más de una vez vinculado a ciertos sucesos callejeros que estremecieron los estratos de la sociedad habanera. Patriota y pendenciero combinó en su canto las dos raíces que sustentaron su larga y prolífica trayectoria en los escenarios de Latinoamérica: Puerto Rico y Cuba fueron sus dos patrias. Le puso mucho sentimiento a los boleros, pero también a las rumbas, los sones montunos y las guarachas, estas últimas casi siempre sazonadas con el atrayente sabor de lo marginal. Las numerosas grabaciones que hizo Daniel Santos en el estudio Panart de la calle San Miguel con el respaldo del conjunto "Sonora Matancera" a partir de 1946 le aseguraron a la veterana agrupación una buena cuota de popularidad. Daniel Santos: personaje llano, camaleónico, bien controvertido en su proyección social. Estas cualidades le aseguraron un inmenso arraigo popular.

84 años de presencia ininterrumpida en los salones bailables de la nación respaldan una sonoridad inconfundible. Los integrantes de la veterana Orquesta Aragón triunfaron en la capital de la república, sirviendo de ejemplo a otras tantas generaciones de músicos populares que, hasta el sol de hoy, continúan repitiendo ese eterno ciclo de superación. Casi a término el sello tímbrico que los haría imprescindibles, entre las formaciones de su tipo llegaron a la Habana, dejando atrás el terruño cienfueguero, en 1954. Fundamentales resultaron entonces las presentaciones en directo, tanto en la radio y la televisión, así como las numerosas grabaciones que comenzaron a efectuar para la etiqueta norteamericana RCA Victor. La Orquesta Aragón, bajo la dirección de Rafaelito Lay, sin importar años ni contratiempos, sigue honrando la memoria de todos y cada uno de los músicos que la integraron en sus diversas etapas, contribuyendo con su labor a la difusión de lo mejor de nuestro patrimonio rítmico y autoral. El histórico empaste vocal de Pepe Olmo, Felo Bacallao y Rafael Lay (padre) identificó durante décadas el sonido "Aragón". A mediados de los años 60, grabada por la etiqueta EGREM, asimilaban el pa'cá de Juanito Márquez y el mozambique de Pello el Afrokán, ritmos de gran aceptación popular. Y la antológica señal de la CMQ RadioCentro del año 1951 nos permite acercarnos al "crooner" o cancionero, figura que comenzó a hacerse bien popular en la franja de los años 30 a los 40. Buen recuerdo para el tenor Miguel Ángel Ortiz, quien a pesar de dejar una discreta discografía participó activamente en las emisiones en directo de importantes radioemisoras como RHC Cadena Azul y CMQ durante los años 40, 50 y comienzos de los 60. Tres piezas para la memoria en su estilo. El clásico norteamericano de 1933: "Smoke gets in your eyes" original de Jerome Kern; "Aunque te vayas" bolero del compositor cubano Faustino Miró; y del mexicano Gabriel Ruiz: "Tú dónde estás". Más de cien años nos separan de aquel 10 de octubre de 1922 cuando las antenas de la PWX de la Cuban Telephone Company inauguraban con carácter oficial la era radiofónica en la Isla. Desde el primer día la música en directo demostró su marcada importancia para sostener las futuras programaciones. Boricua de nacimiento pero cubano de corazón así recordamos al controvertido cantante Daniel Santos quien fuera presencia habitual entre los cubanos desde 1946 hasta 1960. Con el respaldo del conjunto Sonora Matancera regresa con algo del repertorio que interpretaba en directo allá por 1949. Fragmentos del estelar Show Cascabeles Candado. En los variados elencos artístico-musicales que. con el auge de la radio cubana articularon las diferentes emisoras para reforzar sus programaciones, comenzaron a sobresalir las formaciones femeninas, en especial los dúos y tríos completados por hermanas. En el programa de hoy, vinculadas a aquellas fabulosas transmisiones en directo, recordaremos en primer término a las hermanas Aguilera quienes alguna vez se presentaron en CMQ RadioCentro con el respaldo del conjunto del compositor santiaguero Ñico Saquito. Muy poco sabemos de estas formidables artistas que, por suerte, dejaron su huella en el éter radiofónico. Casi despidiéndonos, como homenaje a estas valiosas formaciones femeninas retomaremos -en dos tiempos- a las Hermanas Márquez. Cusa, Trini y Nerza Márquez participaron activamente en espacios estelares como el "Gran Show de la Mañana" de la CMQ RadioCentro entre 1948 y 1949. En 1951 decidieron radicar en los Estados Unidos. Medio siglo después, a la altura del nuevo milenio, y gracias al empeño de Paquito de Rivera y el productor español José Luis Rupérez, las entusiastas y ochentonas Trini y Nerza sorprendieron a un público, siempre ávido de música popular cubana, con un inesperado regreso. A pesar del tiempo el añejo sabor de sones, guarachas, montunos y boleros, volvía a encender las voces de las eternas Hermanas Márquez.

Antonio Machín, durante los años 30 se hizo conocido grabando numerosos discos con su cuarteto  para la etiqueta Víctor. En España se convertiría en ídolo de la canción romántica a partir de la década siguiente. El pianista y compositor Armando Valdespí, es el autor del clásico bolero "Sola y triste". Acompañó a Machín en una lejana presentación radial. El 10 de octubre de 1922 la PWX de la Cuban Telephone Company estrenó sus transmisores. Desde fecha tan temprana la música en directo fue elemento fundamental en las programaciones de cuanta emisora, grande o pequeña, apareciera en el espectro radiofónico. A 100 años de aquellos tiempos de descubrimiento le seguimos arrebatando al olvido estos valiosos sonidos. La veterana señal de la radio cubana nos trae a la jazz band "Riverside". El swing haciendo de las suyas en los repertorios de los músicos. El trovador fue uno de aquellos protagonistas que tuvo la radio en su etapa romántica. Intérpretes que recorrían la ciudad con sus guitarras, alternando el diario bregar por bares y restaurantes con sus presentaciones en los estudios.  Siro Rodríguez, la tremenda voz segunda del trío Matamoros, Berto González, y el dúo de Walfrido Guevara y Jiménez, nos devuelven esa época de tranvías y artesanales transmisiones radiofónicas. Descendiente, por línea directa del teatro bufo, en el cine, la radio y la televisión cubanas el reinado de la mulata se lo debemos a Rita Montaner, Candita Quintana y a la recientemente desaparecida Aurora Basnuevo. Con esta entrañable actriz, bailarina y cantante se despide toda una era. Gracias a la buena memoria: la mulata, en la piel de Rita Montaner, vuelve a compartir micrófonos junto a Guillermo Álvarez Guedes, Aurora Pita, Ricardo Dantés, Idalberto Delgado y Enrique Alzugaray "El Jiníguano". Así se escuchaba "A reírse rápido", show humorístico que en 1954 ponía en antena la CMQ Radio Centro. El repertorio clásico de los conjuntos soneros cubanos de los años 40 y 50, a la manera de Oscar de León. En la voz del sonero venezolano las obras de los compositores criollos, así como los patrones estilisticos de ese formato sonero que durante los años dorados del 40 cristalizaron Arsenio Rodríguez, el Conjunto Casino y la sonora Matancera. Algo de su obra hoy a la manera del sonero venezolano Óscar de León y el veterano cantante Nelo Sosa con el conjunto Cubason de finales del setenta, dirigido por el trompetista Jorge Varona. La guaracha "Mi negro está cansao" y el bolero "No serás de mi". Destacamos aquí la labor musical del pianista Robertico Álvarez (Santa Amalia) al frente del conjunto del cantante santiaguero René del Mar y posteriormente en las filas del conjunto Saratoga, fundado en La Habana a finales de 1952 por Pedro Balseiro. En abril de 1951, Robertico Álvarez, recién salido del Conjunto Casino también colaboró con el conjunto del guitarrista y compositor Agustín Ribot. En sus grabaciones para la etiqueta Panart el conjunto Saratoga contó con las voces de las Hermanas Romay. "Burundanga" el popular afro de Óscar Bouffartique, antecede a dos boleros de Juan Pablo Miranda: "Romance" y "Seguiré sin ti" en las voces de José Antonio Pinares y René del Mar, respectivamente. De vuelta a las emisiones estelares de la radio independiente cubana de los años 40s. En el centenario de este medio de difusión que demostró su extrema importancia para músicos y artistas desde el 10 de octubre se 1922, cuando la señal de la PWX de la Cuban Telephone Company inauguraba oficialmente la era radiofónica en la isla, regresamos a los estudios de la CMQ. El locutor Eduardo Tristá presentaba a la orquesta Gris del pianista Armando Valdés Torres con su cantante Gerardo Pedroso. El catálogo comercial de la etiqueta RCA Victor nos devuelve el esplendor de los conjuntos soneros de la segunda mitad de los años 40. Roberto Faz, Roberto Espí y Agustín Ribot identificaban al Conjunto Casino. Emblemática agrupación que estableció uno de los patrones estilisticos de esa corriente junto al conjunto de Arsenio Rodríguez y la Sonora Matancera. Sus músicos entonces incorporaban al repertorio del Casino elementos del jazz, especialmente del swing y el bebop. Sonoridades de ida y vuelta. Como llegamos, nos vamos. Oscar de León regaló su arte al público cubano en un inolvidable festival Varadero del año 1983. El inmenso sonero triunfaba internacionalmente con un formato típico de conjunto cubano de los 40 y los 50s y un repertorio de clásicos de autores cubanos donde géneros como la guaracha, el son montuno, la guajira y el bolero estaban bien presentes. "Rico melao" de Jorge Mazón, "Sandunguera" del binomio Marcelino Guerra y Luis Piedra, "El baile del suavito" de María Aurora Gómez y "Calculadora" de Rosendo Rosell, son los cortes con que nos despedimos hoy. Cubakústica, más de cien años de música popular cubana.

A 100 años del nacimiento oficial de la radio cubana recordamos a Rita Montaner, una de las figuras que intervino en la transmisión inaugural de la PWX de la Cuban Telephone Company, el 10 de octubre de 1922. Rita abre el programa con la orquesta CMQ dirigida por el maestro Félix Guerrero, Bola de Nieve al piano, un juvenil Ramón Veloz y Enrique González Manticci al frente de la orquesta Bacardí. Seguidamente Luis Carbonell, el acuarelista de la poesía afroantillana, le rinde tributo con una poesía de Ernesto Montaner: "Romance del rito de Rita". "La Entrevista", un fragmento del "Gran Show de la Mañana" del año 1950, nos devuelve el testimonio de Enriqueta Sierra, veterana actriz, productora y directora, uno de los pilares que tuvo la radio cubana durante los años 30 y 40, ya alejada de los estudios para esas fechas. A Enriqueta Sierra la entrevista otro grande de todos los tiempos: Germán Pinelli. Repasando las audiciones de la RHC Cadena Azul de 1946 recuperamos algo del repertorio que presentaba el boricua Daniel Santos, recién llegado a La Habana con la orquesta Habana Casino. Con Daniel y el Conjunto Sonora Matancera, llega un fragmento del show "Cascabeles Candado" tal com lo presentó Jorge Guerrero en el estudio-teatro de CMQ Radio Centro. Xiomara Alfaro con la jazz band Hermanos Castro y la orquesta Aragón nos llevan de nuevo a los estudios de los Hermanos Fernández: Radio Progreso. La importancia de las emisoras independientes, con sus programaciones en directo, en la cristalización de Cuba como plaza artística. Presencia de figuras consagradas en sus espacios más estelares: Josephine Baker, el grupo vocal vasco Los Xey y el talentoso actor y cantante mexicano Pedro Infante en el show "De fiesta con Bacardí". En el catálogo de ese sello: Fuico con Papín y sus rumberos. Prehistoria discográfica de Los Papines. Today on The Neil Haley Show, Neil and Aaron Lester will interview CEO of PWX Jim Miller. Pro Wrestling eXpress (PWX, also known as NWA East) is a professional wrestling promotion that was founded in North Versailles, Pennsylvania in 1994 by Jim Miller and Sean "Shocker" Evans. It is the longest-running promotion in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. PWX was the main rival of Steel City Wrestling during the 1990s and was an affiliate of the National Wrestling Alliance from 1997 to 2012. PWX held a prominent role in the organization during this period. It was part in the annual NWA Anniversary Shows from 1998 to 2000 and brought national and world NWA champions to audiences in the East Coast of the United States. The promotion also collaborated with non-NWA members on the local independent circuit holding several interpromotional shows with Chris Lash's Allied Powers Wrestling Federation (2002; 2009–2010) and participated in Deaf Wrestlefest (2010).
