Marc Kürten macht als Klettertrainer ein paar Dinge anders! Zum einen hat er in NRW als Trainer Angebote für Kinder gemacht, als das Klettern eigentlich nur eine Sache für Erwachsene und Profis war. Zum anderen hat er eine private Kletterschule gegründet - die "Sportschule Rocks" Düsseldorf. Dort macht er mit zwei weiteren Trainern ein Kursangebot für Kinder und Erwachsene. Die Kurse finden an verschiedenen Trainingsorten und in verschiedenen Hallen statt. Das heißt, seine Angebote laufen nicht über einen Verein wir den DAV oder über eine einzelne Halle. Seine Anfänge hatte Marc aber in einem örtlichen Sportverein gemacht und von da seine Angebote entwickelt und schließlich die Kletterschule gegründet. Seine Kurse sind teurer als die, die man in den Hallen sonst vorfindet - aber er trifft damit auf ausreichend Nachfrage und Kunden! Sunflowers come in all shapes and sizes, and the group has gained a new member. Nicknamed the “woolly devil,” Ovicula biradiata is the product of the amazing bi-national collaboration between taxonomists, conservationists, and community scientists in Big Bend National Park. But it comes at a time when the future of National Parks is uncertain.“I think this particular discovery has inspired a lot of people outside of the world of biodiversity science to recognize that we still have a lot of work to do in terms of just describing the biodiversity in environments as iconic as the US National Parks” says Isaac Lichter Marck, one of the taxonomists involved in the description. “We assume that because it's found within a US national park that it'll be within an environment that's preserved into the future. That's been the ideal of national parks. James Marck was a journalist, author, artist and musician.  He was a devoted husband, brother, uncle and friend to many.  James was a kind and gentle person with a huge heart.  James grew up in Burlington, Ontario and moved to Toronto to pursue his career as author and editor with Now Magazine.  James interviewed many interesting authors, politicians, actors and musicians incuding Harry Belafonte, Garth Brooks, Kate Bush and The Tragically Hip to name a few.   While James had immense respect for the famous people he met, he never appeared starstruck.   James put people at ease by being approachable and down to earth.   He was known for getting the most interesting, unique and authentic interviews. The following people were instrumental in publishing"A Day at the Waterhole": Carol Perdic came across James' original hand-written story in her archives and after re-reading it nearly 30 years later, felt the message of friendship, collaboration, and harmony was even more relevant today and worthy of getting into the hands of young readers. Carol had a vision of getting this story told and had the good fortune of meeting a new friend, Chris White. Chris White is a talented illustrator and artist who has a passion for drawing, sketching, writing, and creating. Chris said he always wanted to illustrate a children's story.
