Paris Saint-Germain finally announced a long-awaited signing this week, but with the Ligue 1 season just a week away, there's still business to be done in the final month of the summer transfer window. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss João Neves's arrival, Xavi Simons's departure, a Bundesliga defender rumor, and whether there will be any August surprises.First, we react to PSG finally announcing Neves. The deal dragged out for weeks, and in the end, PSG will pay Benfica a total package of €70 million, plus Renato Sanches. We discuss how he will fit in the squad and how he will improve PSG's midfield.Next, we talk about the potential arrival of Willian Pacho from Eintracht Frankfurt. All summer, PSG has tried to strengthen its defense to no avail. From all reports, Pacho has agreed to terms with PSG and could be announced in the coming days. We discuss his rise through the ranks and whether he'll be an immediate starter. In terms of outgoing players, we finally got an answer to summer's biggest question, "Where will Xavi Simons play next season." After a series of cryptic posts on social media, Simons returned to RB Leipzig for another season on loan with no obligation to buy. We discuss why the Netherlands international refused to return to PSG and whether it's a risk to loan him again for another season. Finally, we look ahead to potential transfers and departures in August, including whether PSG will make a big move for a superstar player. As always, thank you for listening. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit thedailybriefing.ioClarification on Man Utd links with Araujo and OliseI'm aware there have been some stories about Manchester United targets this evening, with Ronald Araujo and Michael Olise among the big names being linked with the Red Devils, but it's important to clarify some things on these stories. For both Araujo and Olise, nothing is happening in January - I have no concrete updates on either player for the moment. Araujo is expected to stay at Barcelona, and they will offer him a new contract in the next months. We will see how that conversation will go as a crucial step ahead of the summer. Apart from that, there are always links for Man United and centre-backs, it's normal as they want to sign a CB in 2024.

Last week was the climax of Paris Saint-Germain's season, and unlike an M. Night Shyamalan film, there was no surprise ending or twist. Just the same old PSG crashing out of the UEFA Champions League without barely a fight. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined once again by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the loss to Bayern Munich, the ripple effects from the result of the tie, and recap last-minute win on the road against Stade Brestois 29.Up first, we get into PSG's defeat at the Allianz Arena, where they crashed out of the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 for the second-consecutive year. We discuss Marquinhos' injury and whether he should have started the match, why PSG's bench lacks quality, why PSG can't elevate their performance when it's needed most, and what long-lasting impacts this result could have on the club.Ethan has been vocal on social media that he wants new ownership at PSG. He shares his reasons why and explains the type of owner he would prefer. The second half of the show is all about the win over Brest. We both expected PSG to lose this match, considering the letdown against Bayern. Still, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé carried the club to victory in the dying moments of the match. We share what we liked, and didn't like about this fixture.Other topics we cover include PSG's upcoming fixture list and whether Renato Sanches has a part to play for PSG next season. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts. So the Champions league draw is over, which is the reason why we delayed recording this podcast until Monday so we could talk about who Bayern Munich will play in the Round of 16. It turned out to be Paris Saint-German, a team we've faced a number of times in the last few years. Boasting an attack with the likes of Leo Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe, the Parisians have a formidable XI that can beat any team on their day. Meanwhile there is also the game against Werder Bremen on Tuesday, which is worth discussing because we need to talk about how Julian Nagelsmann will fare with the World Cup looming. So lots to talk about in a quick pod. In this episode, INNN and Schnitzel discuss: How we feel about drawing PSG yet again. How the World Cup could affect the tie — in terms of both fatigue and mentality. Is this the must-watch game of the Round of 16? Will former Bayern youngster Renato Sanches play in the tie? PSG's attack vs Bayern's defense — how they stack up. The playbook to stop Leo Messi. Joshua Kimmich vs Marco Verratti and the midfield battle. What about the rest of the Bundesliga — how will RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and Eintracht Frankfurt fare? Moving onto the Werder Bremen preview — how does Bremen stack up? Why Bremen are like the Fulham of the Bundesliga (Schnitzel explains). Nagelsmann's options to replace Phonzie, and the overall fullback conundrum. INNN laments the downfall of the Muller Mafia.
