In 2009, Giuffre (then known as Virginia Roberts) filed a civil lawsuit against Epstein (under the pseudonym “Jane Doe 102”) alleging she was recruited as a minor, trafficked, and sexually exploited at his Palm Beach estate and other properties. That lawsuit was resolved in a private settlement: Epstein agreed to pay Giuffre US$500,000 plus “other valuable consideration.” As part of the agreement, Giuffre released Epstein — and “anyone else who could have been included as a potential defendant” — from any future civil claims arising from her allegations. In essence, the deal not only ended the case but also broadly shielded Epstein and his associates from further civil liability on that claim.The full text of the 2009 deal remained sealed for many years. ActionSA has reportedly obtained the confidential agreement behind the ANC's R150 million debt settlement with Ezulweni Investments, which it says breaks the Political Party Funding Act. The deal, now public through ANC court papers, shows the ANC ordered R190 million worth of election materials to write off the R150 million debt - a move ActionSA calls an unlawful donation-in-kind exceeding the R15 million annual donor limit. Lobby group AfriForum has temporarily halted a R54 billion settlement agreement between Eskom and energy regulator Nersa. The deal stemmed from an error at Nersa, affecting calculations for Eskom's revenue clawback amounts. Originally, Nersa approved tariff hikes of 5.36% for 2026 and 6.19% for 2027. However, admitting mistakes in depreciation and asset valuation, Nersa agreed Eskom could recover the additional R54 billion, pushing increases to 8.76% and 8.83% for those years. In tax year 2024/25, I had "relevant UK earnings" of £44,000. I contributed the full amount (inclusive of tax relief) to my SIPP; as a Personal Contribution this used up 100% of my Annual Allowance. In addition, I received a £20,000 tax-free lump sum Redundancy Payment. Because it was below £30,000, it did not constitute "relevant UK earnings", as such, I requested it be paid directly into my SIPP via "Redundancy Sacrifice". (My understanding is that it would be treated as an Employer Contribution, not benefit from tax relief and, therefore, not limited by my Annual Allowance - please correct me if wrong). However, due to an administrative error, it was paid to me. Subsequently, I transferred it to my pension provider, together with the necessary paperwork (completed Employer Contribution form and Settlement Agreement detailing the source of funds). My pension provider has rejected the transfer designating it as a Personal Contribution because it was made from my personal bank account. Q. Does HMRC require Redundancy Payments be paid from business bank accounts? My understanding is that the rules are different from normal Salary / Bonus Sacrifice. This resolution has been confirmed by multiple sources, including PEOPLE magazine. “Today John Paul Miller, Solid Rock Church, Inc. and The Estate of Mica Francis Miller, along with the individual members of the Francis family, have reached a full and final Settlement Agreement,” stated Russell B. Long, attorney for Pastor Miller. The terms of the settlement remain sealed under a confidentiality agreement, ensuring that all related matters are considered settled, waived, or released. “Mica's family, Pastor Miller, and the Church have set their differences aside to allow Mica's memory to live on,” Long explained. “All parties now consider this matter ‘closed.'” Reflecting on the tragic circumstances, Long added, “Unfortunately, we do not know every piece of information leading up to the death of Mica. We do know that her life served a purpose. On March 15th, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) agreed to settle the Sitzer/Burnett case. The changes to the real estate industry are set to take effect in July 2024. I discuss what it means not just for the real estate industry but what it could also mean for the real estate market going forward.

We sit down with Doug Kantor, the general counsel of the National Association of Convenience Stores, to discuss the biggest story this week - the preliminary settlement of the class action lawsuit brought by a group of retailers almost 20 years ago accusing the credit card companies and their electronic payments systems of being an anti-competitive monopoly. We'll discuss the merits of the settlement, whether it will be approved by the courts, and what it means for pending legislation in Congres to reign in out-of-control interchange fees. And California's minimum wage for fast-food workers is rising to $20/hr next week, the highest statewide wage in the country. But the media coverage this week, somewhat unexpectedly, has been highlighting the impact to operators and the industry and reporting on closures, job losses and other negative ramifications. The 116-room hotel was subject to the city's workforce assured housing ordinance, which mandates that new overnight accommodations either build some workforce housing or pay a fee in lieu of that construction. The Element made the case that their original fee was too high, and the city agreed to settle. Opt-out process allows veterans to pursue their cases independently if they choose. 4- Case Management and Legal Procedures: - The importance of timely signing of releases to receive compensation. - Clearing up misconceptions: It's not a quick paycheck; various procedures must be followed. - Clarification on the misconception that 98% have to approve; it's 98% participation that's required. - Details of 3M's funding sources for the settlement, including insurance proceeds and stock conversion. 5- Impact and Resolution: - The significance of resolving the case for veterans and the legal system. - 3M's obligations to dismiss ongoing appeals. - The case's role in alleviating the federal court docket's congestion.
