Luke poses a crucial hypothetical: if music awards only went to artists who've never taken a stimulant… who'd actually be left? The lads then dive into the legacy of “straight-head” rockstars and debate whether Winston Marshall's post-banjo pivot into far-right politics really counts as a glow-up. Spoiler: it doesn't.Elsewhere, Pete's parenting takes a turn after he accidentally locks his baby in the car and has to coach her through unlocking it from the inside. And finally, a listener's clash with a Tesco jobsworth triggers painful Nectar card flashbacks for Luke.Email us at hello@lukeandpeteshow.com or you can get in touch on X, Threads or Instagram if character-restricted messaging takes your fancy.***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. What happens when cancel culture comes from both sides? In this unfiltered conversation, Winston Marshall — former Mumford & Sons banjoist turned political commentator — opens up about the radicalization of the left, the growing antisemitism on the right, and what really happened after he was canceled for supporting a book critical of BLM and Antifa. We dive into the rise of the “woke right,” the cultural fracture post-October 7th, and why so many formerly sane voices are flirting with extremism.Check out Winston's show, The Winston Marshall Show: https://www.youtube.com/@winston_marshallFrom Joe Rogan and Dave Smith to Hamas support at Coachella, no topic is off limits. On this episode, Bill sits down with musician, podcaster and one-time Mumford & Sons banjoist Winston Marshall. The two reflect on Winston's departure from the band following a social media firestorm over a controversial book endorsement, how that ordeal exposed the intense pressures of “cancel culture” within the music world and why Winston ultimately decided to speak his mind despite the fallout. They dig into England's shifting cultural landscape, the rise of political correctness in both the UK and America, what it's like to navigate taboo topics in today's hyper-partisan climate, Bill's own battle with early 2000s cancellations, the nuance of “platforming” divisive guests in media, and how comedic irreverence can serve as a release valve against excessive wokeness. They also touch on London's changing face, the lure of extremist ideologies, the importance of honest dialogue across the political spectrum and much more.
Jordan Peterson sits down with writer, musician, and podcaster Winston Marshall. They discuss the nature of identity on the community and national levels, the relationship between a nation and its citizens, how the UK has a rich culture that is worth preserving, and the unifying question that has still yet to be answered. Winston Marshall is a writer, musician, and host of “The Winston Marshall Show.” In 2007 Winston co-founded folk-rock band Mumford & Sons. In their fourteen years together the band won 2 Grammy Awards, 2 Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello and performed with the likes of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Willie Nelson and Elton John. In 2017 he released the techno-fusion album ‘Silk' in collaboration with HVOB. His remix work includes Maggie Rogers and Jack Garrett. His written work has been published by The Free Press, The Jewish Chronicle, The Spectator, The Daily Mail. Through 2022 and 2023 he hosted the podcast ‘Marshall Matters' at The Spectator. We open the show with a memo from the White House following a call between President Trump and President Putin. Seems it was a productive call, leading to more discussions for a peace deal. Next, it's amazing the effort and energy the Left is putting into defending terrorists in the form of the TdA Venezuelan gang members. What would it be like if they put that much effort into protecting Americans? There are conflicts of interest all over the place with the latest judge who is demanding all illegal terrorists should remain in the United States. Plus, we find out the judge was also assigned to the FISA court when they rubber-stamped spying on Trump and was the judge that ruled on the Ray Epps case. There are now four activist judges who believe they can run the presidency. All four have pending Article of Impeachment ready to be filed against them. Yet, Chief Justice Roberts put out a statement saying impeaching judges is bad. Let's hope our FBI will start looking at calls of swatting and the burning of Tesla's as domestic terrorism. Those activities fall under that definition if you ask me. Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) was on the Winston Marshall program recently. First she described how the Dept. of Education only sees 25% of it's $268 billion dollar budget on education. The rest is to pay for the bureaucracy and is then laundered down several steps to then be put back into Democrat campaigns. She also talked about the perils of implementing RFID tagging of cattle. Sen. Chuck “You” Schumer was on The View and illustrated something I tell my audience all the time. They really do think all the money we make is theirs. Don Lemon reminds us where the vast majority of bigotry and racism resides. Rep. Wesley Hunt brutalizes Lemon in response to his latest stupidity when he hung out with Bill Maher. The AP once again got a story wrong. They are planning to correct it, but do you think it will stop sufferers of Trump Derangement Syndrome for believing the incorrect story? Finally, remember the IRS whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler? Their patriotic work has led to being hired by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to help reform the IRS. As Donald Trump doubles down on his tariff plans soon after letting Elon Musk try and breathe life into plummeting Tesla sales on the lawn of the White House, the US President's economics may be begging the question... is he the world's best bluffer? To debate this, plus the counterterrorism laws being questioned after the detainment of Mahmoud Khalil and more, two special guests are invited to the Uncensored studio - battle-hardened survivor of cancel culture and Nancy Pelosi challenger Winston Marshall and Uncensored regular and Young Turks CEO Cenk Uygur. Plus pro-Palestinian and anti-Zionist activist Nerdeen Kiswani joins to add extra spice to the debate. Whilst illiberal progressivism (or woke for short) appears to be in retreat, what will take its place is an open question. The right in the UK has splintered, Europe is still being suffocated by the weight of the leftist social democratic model, free speech is under assault in Australia (as it is pretty much everywhere), and whilst the Republicans are resurgent in the US, Trump's brand of economic protectionism would have been anathema to the American right in years gone by. To discuss the future of conservatism, free speech, and Western civilisation, Will is joined by Mumford and Sons alumni and host of The Winston Marshall Show, Winston Marshall.Follow Will Kingston and Fire at Will on social media here.Read The Spectator Australia here.Subscribe to The Winston Marshall Show here.

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.widerlenspod.comOver the last few decades, the rapid rise of secularism, alongside the dissolution of traditional institutions, has left many feeling disconnected from deeper sources of meaning and purpose. This void has led to the emergence of new ideologies and movements that seek to provide meaning where religious traditions once did. From the rise of trans activism to the increasing influence of secular humanism, these new belief systems are born from the intellectual vacuum left behind by the decline of faith in established religious structures. At the heart of this cultural shift lies the struggle to reconcile the material world with the deeper, intangible needs of the human soul. The material world, with its focus on immediate gratification, wealth, and success, offers little in the way of lasting fulfillment. In a society that increasingly values individualism and material success, questions of spiritual fulfillment and moral discernment often go unaddressed, contributing to a growing sense of confusion, anxiety, and fragmentation. In a society where secular ideologies promise individual empowerment but often fail to address the complexities of human existence, faith-based frameworks may provide a meaningful path to address the deeper, non-material needs of spiritual well-being, which contemporary ideological frameworks tend to neglect. Religious practice can serve as an anchor, helping people navigate the uncertainties of modern life with greater resilience, compassion, and a deeper connection to universal truths such as justice, kindness, and community—principles that have sustained human civilization and fostered cohesion across cultures for millennia. In this bonus episode for premium subscribers, Winston Marshall explores the transformative power of faith in overcoming personal struggles, noting a cultural revival of Christianity in intellectual circles as a response to the void left by atheism and the rise of ideologies like trans activism. He advocates for the enduring relevance of Christian principles (such as truth, resilience, and faith) along with values shared across mainstream religions emphasizing that there is something greater than the material world, especially in a society increasingly divided on social, cultural, and political issues.Watch our full length episode with Winston Marshall: https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-199For instructions on setting up a private feed to listen to our premium content in your favorite podcast app, visit https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/how-to-listen-to-our-full-premium.

Before we dive into today's crucial topics, let's take a moment to understand the shifting sands of information dissemination. Picture this: one in five Americans now rely on influencers for their news. Yes, you heard it right. As traditional media wanes, influencers rise, with a surprising tilt towards the right at 27%, against 21% leaning left. This shift tells a story of a public seeking alternative voices, perhaps disillusioned by what they see as biased reporting. Winston Marshall is a musician, cultural commentator, and former member of the band Mumford & Sons. In this episode, we discuss his journey from rock star to cultural commentator, the challenges of holding conservative opinions in the entertainment industry, and his exit from Mumford & Sons. We also get into the failures of corporate media, the rise of alternative media through podcasts, and the impact of political realignment in the U.S. and the UK. We also cover the ongoing struggle for free speech, the role of populism, and the future of liberty in a world increasingly dominated by censorship and ideological conformity.
In this special cross-post episode of The Winston Marshall Show, the former Mumford & Sons musician engages Rep. Crenshaw in a wide-ranging discussion on U.S. foreign policy, including populist arguments for isolationism. The conversation covers America's involvement in the Ukraine War, the Israel-Hamas conflict, and compares President Biden's most significant foreign policy failures with President Trump's record. They also delve into the realities of the ‘deep state' and the internal divisions within the Republican Party driven by the populist movement. The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – When did “Populist” become a pejorative? It's when elites assumed they knew better and claimed the authority to dictate to the “Deplorables.” Nancy Pelosi's debate at the Oxford Union highlights this issue, with Winston Marshall's insightful position. Populism embodies Lincoln's ideal: “government of the people, by the people, for the people.”

The Heartland Institute's Donald Kendal, Jim Lakely, Justin Haskins, and Chris Talgo present episode 449 of the In The Tank Podcast. Is Populism a threat to Democracy? U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi believes so. Pelosi recently took part in an Oxford Union debate on this very subject where she made the case that populism has become synonymous with ethnonationalism and right-wing extremism. Arguing against this position was Winston Marshall, a former member of the musical group, Mumford & Sons. What role does Populism play in American politics? Nancy Pelosi gets humiliated at an Oxford debate, by a banjo player no less, who stood up and faithfully defended the worldwide populist revolt in the face of one of our most corrupt politicians! Winston Marshall, the former banjoist for the band Mumford and Sons, faced Nancy Pelosi at the Oxford Student Union debate on whether populism is a threat to democracy. It is the literal outworking of the rule of the ‘demos', the people, as opposed to a corrupt oligarchical elite, like Nancy Pelosi.” “This whole notion that populism is somehow anti-democratic is the very definition of projection. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 3: 5:05pm- In her new article for The Washington Examiner, columnist Salena Zito asks did Trump make a 4D chess move with his speech in Wildwood, New Jersey? Zito writes: “In 2016, Clinton won Mahoning County with 49% of the vote, defeating Trump by a hair. For perspective, just four years earlier, then-President Barack Obama crushed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney by a whopping 28 points in the Mahoning Valley, earning 63% of the vote of this mostly white working-class voter base. Those same working-class white voters, on whom Democrats relied to carry the state twice for the first Black president, would soon be called racist, uneducated, and angry just four years later for supporting Trump. Fast-forward to last weekend when Trump, plagued by nonstop reports of his trial for allegedly covering up hush money payments, held a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, and attracted more than 80,000 supporters in a state no Republican presidential candidate has won since then-Vice President George H.W. Bush in 1988.” Will Trump win the 2024 presidential election thanks to his appeal to working class Americans who feel left behind by the Democrat party? You can read her full story here: https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/3003815/was-trump-making-4d-chess-move-speech-new-jersey/ 5:30pm- During an Oxford Union debate, Winston Marshall—the former banjoist and lead guitarist for the band Mumford & Sona—argued that “Populism has become a word used synonymously with ‘racist'…with ‘bigot,' with ‘hillbilly'…elites use it to show their contempt for ordinary people.” Throughout the evening, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) interrupted her debate opponent—claiming that populism is a threat to democracy and that the 2016 election had been “hijacked.” 5:40pm- Rich keeps unbuttoning his shirt as part of an effort to grow our YouTube audience…but nobody wants to see that!
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (05/14/2024): 3:05pm- Donald Trump's “hush money” trial continued on Tuesday—with the prosecution's key witness Michael Cohen being questioned by Trump's attorneys. According to Jesse McKinley of The New York Times, during cross examination, Cohen was portrayed as someone seeking revenge and looking to earn money via the sale of t-shirts that said: “Convict 45.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/05/14/nyregion/trump-trial-news-michael-cohen?smid=url-share#95706224-806b-5507-ae9b-e5a422a2b006 3:15pm- In reaction to a stream of negative polling results for President Joe Biden, CNN political commentator Van Jones stated that “the economic prospects for young people are miserable.” 3:35pm- Ben Casselman and Jeanna Smialek of The New York Times write that high interest rates are seriously hurting poorer Americans: “High interest rates haven't crashed the financial system, set off a wave of bankruptcies or caused the recession that many economists feared. But for millions of low and moderate-income families, high rates are taking a toll. More Americans are falling behind on payments on credit card and auto loans, even as many are taking on more debt than ever before.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/14/business/economy/interest-rates-inequality.html 3:40pm- According to a report from Axios, President Joe Biden and his campaign refuse to believe polling which indicates Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is running ahead of Biden in 5 out of 6 key swing states in the 2024 presidential election. 3:55pm- The beloved Disney character Tinker Bell has become the latest victim of cancel culture. 4:05pm- Rich explains that when it became clear Donald Trump would be the Republican Party's 2024 presidential candidate, President Joe Biden and his administration decided to embrace radical progressive policies—operating under the assumption that election victory would be easily achieved. However, according to new polling from The New York Times, Sienna College, and The Philadelphia Inquirer, Trump now leads President Biden in five of the six key 2024 swing states—Pennsylvania (+3), Arizona (+7), Michigan (+7), Georgia (+10), and Nevada (+12). 4:20pm- Mark Penn—an adviser to former President Bill Clinton and chairman of Harris Poll—says the Biden campaign isn't focused on winning the correct voters. He's attempting to win the radical left, while seemingly forfeiting the moderate/independent vote. Penn explains that the swing voter is worth 2x the value of a progressive voter: “People usually assume that turning out so-called base voters in an election matters most, since swing voters are fewer in number. And it's true that in today's polarized environment, Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump have about 40 percent of voters each and nothing will change those people's minds. But in that remaining 20 percent of the electorate, voters have disproportionate power because of their potential to switch. It's simple math: Take a race tied in the run-up 5 to 5. If one voter swings, the tally becomes 6 to 4. Two voters would then need to be turned out just to tie it up, and a third one would be needed to win.” You can read Penn's full editorial here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/05/13/nyregion/trump-trial-michael-cohen 4:50pm- Women are paying thousands of dollars to participate in “rage rituals.” Why? Nancy Pelosi slithered over to England and got herself into a debate in England at the Oxford Union Debate and lost to a man named Winston Marshall. Nancy Pelosi admitted that we must accept the results of hijacked elections, just as a famous conservative radio host told me many years ago. We will go through Winston Marshall's impressive speech and we'll witness the indictment of Pelosi as she interrupts him several times. What does God's Word say? In 2021, Winston Marshall was the lead guitarist of Mumford & Sons, one of the most successful rock bands of the 21st century. He co-founded the band in 2007 and was instrumental (no pun intended) to its extraordinary success. Then, after Tweeting a positive review of conservative journalist Andy Ngo's new book on the radical left's violence in 2020, a mob came after him. They bombarded him, his family, and bandmates with threats. He eventually apologized but later reneged on the apology and left the band. In the years since, he has become an outspoken defender of free speech and the importance of open discourse. He has since founded the Dissident Dialogues, which will be hosting its inaugural event in Brooklyn this weekend. In this interview, the RocaNews co-founders Max Frost and Max Towey ask him about his experience of getting canceled, his relationship with the band today, his time debating Nancy Pelosi, and what he's doing in this next chapter of his life.

Paid subscribers get full access to my interview with Kathrine Brodsky. The first half of this episode is available to all listeners. To hear the entire conversation, become a paying subscriber here. Cultural critic Katherine Brodsky is an example of what Meghan likes to call “Heterodoxy 2.0.” She's committed to fighting censorship and groupthink but is also mindful of not becoming an ideologue herself. Born in the Soviet Union, she emigrated with her family to Israel and then Canada and is acutely sensitive to signs of creeping authoritarianism. She now lives in Vancouver and writes about a variety of topics, including the arts, technology, and the recently emerging debates about free speech and censorship. In her new book, No Apologies: How to Find and Free Your Voice in the Age of Outrage—Lessons for the Silenced Majority, Katherine recounts her own cancelation event but, more importantly, interviews a range of people—including Katie Herzog, Winston Marshall, Stephen Elliot, and Peter Boghossian, to name a few—who have fallen prey to the online mob. In this conversation, we talk about what can be learned from a cancelation, what has become of the “IDW,” and how to move free speech discourse in a more positive direction, less grievance-driven direction. ** GUEST BIO For over a decade, Katherine Brodsky has covered lifestyle and entertainment stories for works like Variety, WIRED, Newsweek, The Guardian, Esquire, The Independent, CNN Travel, Entertainment Weekly, Playboy Magazine, USA Today, Delta Sky, Mashable, and more. She has interviewed many personalities, including winners and nominees of the Academy Awards, Emmys, Grammys, Pulitzers, Tonys, and even the Nobel Prize. You can read her work at her Substack here.
