In this episode of “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered,” Sara breaks down the indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, the first sitting NYC mayor to be indicted. Charged with misusing $10 million in public campaign funds and facing allegations of wire fraud and bribery, Adams claims he's being targeted for criticizing the Biden-Harris administration's handling of the immigrant crisis. Sara and her guest question whether there's a deeper story behind his indictment. Shifting focus, Sara highlights the immigrant crisis, noting the influx of immigrants overwhelming cities like New York. She explores how NGOs and Catholic charities may be directing immigrants to specific locations, raising questions about organized relocation efforts and hidden agendas. Next, Sara critiques Kamala Harris' interview with MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle, during which Harris struggled to provide coherent answers. Even in a friendly, prepared setting, Harris failed to articulate her plans, prompting Sara to compare her to AOC, who — though often wrong — at least manages to present her arguments. Later, Stuart Cooper, executive director of the Fluoride Action Network, joins Sara to discuss a federal ruling that forces the EPA to regulate fluoride in drinking water. Cooper reveals how fluoride exposure lowers IQ in children, questioning why the government still promotes it, particularly in impoverished communities. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton also discusses his fight against the Texas State Fair's firearm ban, arguing it violates state law on government property and challenging recent liberal court decisions. Sara wraps up the episode by celebrating Lizzo's dramatic weight loss after months of intense workouts, dismissing claims she used Ozempic. Sara commends Lizzo for promoting a healthier lifestyle, crediting the shift away from promoting unhealthy habits. Sara is joined by Blaze Media investigative journalist Steve Baker and BlazeTV contributor Matthew Marsden. On this episode we chat with the GOAT in the Jiu Jitsu documentary scene Stuart Cooper. I can remember being a young man who was full of piss and vinegar. I was on a mission to become the best BJJ player the world had ever seen. Part of the reason I was so obsessed with the game was because of a man by the name of Stuart Cooper. His short films were so masterfully done that I was all in on the sport. His abiity to capture the perfect shot and have these legends tell their stories was life changing. 15 years later I still watch his youtube channel if I need a pinch of inspiration. On this podcast I was able to pick his brain and learn the genisis of this great man. His journey is equally enthralling and hopefully one day someone will tell his story. Until then our podcast will have to do, lol. Huge thank you Stuart for gifting us with a bit of your time. I had a blast and hopefully we can do it again.

Episode 64 : Running in Parallel with Stuart Cooper Stuart Cooper has made significant contributions to the film industry as an accomplished actor, writer and director.  His early acting career in the 1960s showcased his talent through various film and TV appearances, including his notable role as Roscoe Lever in the 1967 classic war film "The Dirty Dozen" n which young Stuart held his own among such heavyweight actors as Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, and Donald Sutherland. However, Stuart's passion always lay in directing, and he eventually pursued this path wholeheartedly. He directed his first feature film, "Little Malcolm and his Struggle Against the Eunuchs,” in 1974. The film was very well-received film. It starred John Hurt and David Warner, and was based on a play by David Halliwell. Little Malcolm And His Struggle Against The Eunuchs established Stuart's directorial skills, winning him the Berlin Silver Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival that year. Yet, it was his second film, "Overlord," released in 1975, that truly solidified his position as a notable director. "Overlord" is a remarkable fusion of documentary and fiction, recounting the story of a young soldier killed during the D-Day landings in Normandy. Combining meticulously upgraded images of archival war footage with impeccably crafted scenes by Stuart, the film created a haunting and impactful experience that garnered international acclaim and again won him the Berlin Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. Today, Overlord remains a hallmark of cinema preserved by the Criterion Collection. And we can't recommend it highly enough. Through his unique storytelling approach and innovative visual aesthetics, Stuart continues to inspire and influence filmmakers and cinephiles worldwide. Today, Cooper remains an esteemed figure in the entertainment industry, and his work continues to captivate audiences. Now, Stuart Cooper and Stanley Kubrick had an interesting career parallel throughout the 1970s. Both men had the distinction of using cinematography legend John Alcott on three films,  for Stuart, the films were Little Malcolm, Overlord and The Disappearance. Stanley utilized the brilliance of Alcott as cinematographer on A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon and The Shining.  Oh, and we also have for you a very rare recording that Stuart personally asked Stanley Kubrick to make as a tribute to John Alcott following Alcott's death in 1986. You will hear that in this episode. So get ready to hear Stuart speak with us about working with Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Orson Welles, George Harrison and John Hurt. We of course discuss 2001, ACO, Barry Lyndon, The Shining, and how Stuart got to know Kubrick. We spoke to Stuart in March 2023. We kick off the New Year with arguably the most pro-war film we've watched. And argue we do as I keep hoping to come to some anti-war interpretation and Pat shoots me down over and over in this extra-long episode. Truffaut argued that “to show [war] is to ennoble it”, that one cannot make an anti-war film that depicts war. We've seen some noble attempts, and I think, in the works of Kon Ichikawa we discussed a few weeks ago, some successes. So Truffaut may be wrong, but Pat is right here, Stuart Cooper's Overlord is not an anti-war film. It still may be an interesting experiment.

This is a very special episode with the one and only Stuart Cooper. Stuart is a world renowned jiu-jitsu film-maker known for his exciting highlight videos and short-films which typically document the journey of influential jiu-jitsu practitioners. In this episode Stuart gives a powerful testimony about his journey with jiu-jitsu and film-making which subsequently lead to a life-threatening drug addiction. He details how he slipped into a dangerous routine of training, travel, and taking pills to help sleep while dealing with jet-lag. Routine turned into habit. Habit turned into dependency. Dependency turned into full-on addiction. Stuart talks about how he fell into a paralyzing depression after weaning himself off his pill addiction. In a desperate attempt to regain his old-life back, Stuart took a chance and sought out an ayahuasca shaman. He tells us about his experience with ayahuasca and his climb back to the life he once had. It's an amazing story about overcoming adversity and addiction.
