Microsoft Free Nonprofit Licenses Update with Steve Longenecker

When do your licenses renew? What kind of free or discounted licenses do you have? What are your options? Microsoft announced in the spring of 2025 that after July 1st two classes of nonprofit discounted licenses would be changing. Steve Longenecker, Community IT's Director of IT Consulting, explains how the license discount and donation program is changing at Microsoft, and how to form a plan of action before your renewal date in this podcast with Carolyn Woodard.Steve reviews the history of the Microsoft donation and discount programs for nonprofits and how they have changed over the years. Microsoft's office suite is of course one of the industry standards and very reliable, reputable, and very affordable for nonprofits who qualify for discounts and donated licenses. Steve then reviews the two types of licenses that are affected, and our advice for each. Some Key Takeaways:Check your licenses through your Microsoft admin portalCheck the renewal dateCheck the license typesIf you are currently using Microsoft 365 Business Premium licenses you were getting 10 free licenses. Any licenses over the first 10 that you are using are being billed at a discounted nonprofit annual rate. When your licenses renew after July 1, 2025, NONE of them will be free.Microsoft says that your 10 free licenses will be automatically rolled over into discounted nonprofit licenses on your renewal date. You don't need to do anything to make this happen, and your staff using the licenses will not see any interruption in their services.Your finance team needs to be aware that on your renewal date, your payment method on record will be charged an annual renewal fee for ALL your Microsoft 365 Business Premium licenses. Make sure your payment method is up to date in your account before your renewal to avoid problems with the rollover. If you are currently using free nonprofit Office 365 E1 licenses for some staff, those also will roll over to discounted licenses on your renewal date after July 1, 2025.Because Microsoft 365 Business Basic licenses are very similar to Office 365 E1 licenses, and are free for qualified nonprofits for up to 300 licenses, we recommend procuring Microsoft 365 Business Basic licenses and unsubscribing from Office 365 E1 before your renewal date. Changing licenses can be done at any time before your renewal date, so you can go ahead and do it now rather than risk rolling over to paying for E1 licenses.Steve walks through the steps he likes to take to change these licenses over for our clients. It is not difficult but not automatic. For further clarity or support, contact your IT provider, IT staff, or Microsoft account manager. _______________________________Start a conversation :) Register to attend a webinar in real time, and find all past transcripts at https://communityit.com/webinars/ email Carolyn at cwoodard@communityit.com on LinkedIn Thanks for listening.

No more wondering what kind of support you will receive. Our staff is certified in numerous fields, to offer the upmost reliable support. Our experience is vast covering all sizes of organizations and industries.     Notes: Seg 2   Redgear     IT company responsible for security of their clients. IT is a lifestyle. RedGear value proposition is turkey solutions. They are your smart friend to help with tech.   Support IT for small businesses. They also have larger enterprise type clients. They act as a consultant, and can screen for a CTO or a CIO for a company.   IT should be a priority of companies yet, it is often an afterthought. Need to understand how to secure an IT room, not just in software, but also the actual room itself. Who has access?   RedGear works in the tech and security industry which is the backbone of all organizations and compliance. People hire RedGear to outsource and shift liability. IT in its simplest form is anything that you plug into the wall and connect to the Internet. It can also mean security.   Trust of your IT provider, and keeping business contingency. Question, businesses always have to answer is how long can they stay down with an interruption and survive. Plus what is their plan for data retention.   IT can be about network, connections, computers, hardware, and the actual Physical IT room. Can also deal in cyber security and password resets. IT has both software as well as hardware like servers and programming applications.   Luciano has 20+ years of experience working in IT and technology. Information Technology not always the priority of many companies but it really should be. Need a plan going forward to manage security and data in all businesses.   You have to determine what's going to be your budget based on the size of the business. Not uncommon to outsource to companies like RedGear. Also need to think about the physical aspects of IT, like is your room secure?   What type of energy your BTU air conditioner usage are you using? Who has control, how cool is it. Who has access to the room? What is your electrical circuit set up?   Do you have redundancy? Or electrical circuit separate and dedicated to the IT. What is your data or cloud storage like?     Seg 3   IT is the backbone of many organizations and should be a priority.   Need to hire trustworthy people, as well as outsource IT to trustworthy companies. There's no perfect set up. Unfortunately, security breaches are more question of When, and not if.   One of the worst stories about IT Luciano ever heard of was the janitor storage closet was the same as the IT room. Another issue with a lot of IT rooms is they don't have good cooling. IT should be a separate room with good security.   You want to also have video security and badge access. Physical access of an IT room is very underrated. Security is the biggest threat to the end-user. You have to know when a breach happens.   How did it happen? It could be software but often it's actually the employees as a threat. They need to pay attention to what is going on and types of emails they get.   Also, sometimes security breaches are an inside job. Companies need to test and educate their staff about IT.   Once Malware gets in to the system it can take over accounts and send email as the person. Phishing scams unfortunately are still very popular with emails.   Good email security typically will filter out malicious emails. Then you waitlist your contact, so you know who it's OK to email. All these need to examine emails.     Seg 4   IT reviews & monitors compliance, so a company must determine a budget.   Data is the gold of companies now. Data contains the companies processes, industry secrets, and private employee and customer info. It is crucial to have a backup of company data, typically onsite and secured, plus offsite in the cloud. You'll always want to build in redundancy and have backup servers for data.   Good IT set up will have disaster recovery. As for the physical set up and protecting data, you want to be aware of how your sprinkler system is set up. You always have to guard against disgruntled employees, who could steal or delete company data.   Your IT provider needs to know the industry and have good experience to engineer the proper solution.   RedGear has worked with some top level clients, including the DEA in Washington DC on a federal level. Their cyber security needs to be top-of-the-line.   It is not in common for the average big company to deal with corporate attacks where hackers try to steal data, and then even hold it hostage for ransom.   Common practice nowadays is for a business to have cyber security liability insurance. The application for the insurance will ask about the physical environment and the set up of the IT and data.   The medical industry has updated cyber and HIPAA compliance. It is essential to have good IT, hospitals and any major medical office.   RedGear is your IT smart friends. They will always give you recommendations of good better and best.         Seg 1. – Related IT Clips from:   Phishing, Malware & Cybersecurity - Try Not to Get Pwned - BRT S02 EP47 (94) 11-21-2021   What We Learned This Week:   Have I been Pwned? Means have I been breached / hacked – did someone hack my email or website Phishing – most common type of email threat, like when you receive a strange email with a link – Do Not Open – DELETE (and alert other office staff of the email) Ramsonware – hack your website, or data – hold it hostage for an extortion ‘ransom' payment Dark Web – where stolen data, & info is being bought & sold VPN Connections – direct and secure   Guests: Vince Matteo, Seven Layer Networks, Inc. https://sevenlayers.com/   There are many different types of cyber attacks from a password breach, website hack to email phishing scams. Check out the latest episode of our Conversational Selling podcast to learn more about Manuj. In this episode, Nancy and Manuj discuss the following:Manuj's background in technology and AIThe concept of data being the new oil and AI being the new engineHow AI can be both beneficial and potentially harmful, depending on its useThe overlap between technology and human psychologyThe need for businesses to embrace technology, particularly AI, to stay competitiveKey Takeaways: Data can now be converted into dollars. You can create powerful solutions once you understand how to utilize data and use AI to crunch big numbers.AI is a tool to help you be creative faster. We are entering a vast new era of a new way of doing work. Every company is going to be a technology company moving forward. "The world always values useful resources. So, we consume oil. That's a very valuable resource. We consume food. All kinds of materials that we consume are resources. And people who own that resource can charge money for it. Now, if you look at platforms like Facebook or Twitter, they are, or even Google, giving away everything for free. You can use most of the Google products for free, Facebook for free, and Twitter for free. So, how are these companies making so much money? Yeah, by advertising based on the data that they collect on you." – MANUJ"Yeah, every business grows based on a few factors. One is whether they have a great team managing the business. Another one is whether they have good brand credibility in the market. Another one is whether customers are coming in regularly into their storefront or what have you. All of these take a massive amount of skill and energy. You need to find trained people, experienced people. But imagine if you could use AI to supplement their capabilities. So, let's say if you have a team of five people and use AI to double their productivity in the next 30 days, right? That means your business will grow double within the next 30 days." – MANUJ"See, the thing is that AI is analyzing data and recognizing patterns in that data. So, our world is complex. So, I'll give you an example. So, let's say a child, a 10-year-old child, touches a hot stove. They will know that they shouldn't touch it next time because it will hurt. So, our mind has learned one data point. And it has become intelligent now that this is the wrong action to take. But let's say that child is in the middle of Antarctica, and they are wearing heat-resistant gloves, and it's really chilly out there. And now they touch the stove, it will feel warm and pleasant, not hot. So now their mind is learning that, OK, even there are variations of this situation. So, if the parameters are correct, it may be OK to touch the hot stove. Right? Yeah, so our mind collects this data and then understands these patterns. But let's say extrapolate that to large problems like climate change or finding a cure for cancer or anything like that. There are millions and millions of parameters involved in that." – MANUJ Connect with Manuj Aggarwal:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/manujaggarwal/Personal: https://manujaggarwal.com/TetraNoodle:https://tetranoodle.com/Try Our Proven, 3-Step System, Guaranteeing Accountability and Transparency that Drives RESULTS by clicking on this link: https://oneofakindsales.com/call-center-in-a-box/  Connect with Nancy Calabrese: Twitter:https://twitter.com/oneofakindsalesFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/One-Of-A-Kind-Sales-304978633264832/Website:https://oneofakindsales.comPhone: 908-879-2911 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ncalabrese/Email: leads@oneofakindsales.com

Lives Radio Show with Stuart Chittenden

Mike Hogan of KIOS 91.5FM, NPR's Omaha affiliate, reveals more about the person behind the voice on the radio. Hogan shares how the laughter and storytelling that epitomized his early family life inspired his own commitment to a life in radio, acting on the theatrical, television, and movie stages, doing live sport play-by-play announcing, and even becoming a stand up comedian, before returning to radio's airwaves where, as well as being our local host of NPR's show “All Things Considered” Hogan presents the “Live and Local” feature.By joining the staff at KIOS as the local "Morning Edition" host in November of 2017, Mike Hogan's radio career came full circle. His first radio job was with St. Louis, Missouri NPR affiliate 88.1 FM KDHX. In between Hogan was an actor based in Los Angeles, appearing in the movie “Stay Tuned” with John Ritter and on the television shows “Hearts Afire” and “Beverly Hills, 90210,” after which he became a play-by-play live hockey broadcaster, including an opportunity with the Omaha Lancers that brought Hogan to Omaha, where he met his wife of more than 24 years. Radio jobs over the years have been mixed with engagements in sales, IT Consulting, and stand-up comedy. Hogan now for KIOS is the Digital Media Coordinator and local host of NPR's show “All Things Considered” and his own award winning “Live and Local” feature.

DealQuest Community, I am happy to have the pleasure of having Scott Hallman on the DealQuest Podcast. Scott is known as the “silent assassin” who is sought after by business owners to unearth hidden profits and unleash rapid growth. With an impressive track record, Scott's companies have twice earned coveted spots on the Inc. 500 list, ranking among the fastest-growing privately held companies in America. Notably, he co-founded an IT Consulting firm that skyrocketed from zero to a staggering $85 million in just 21 months, ultimately reaching a valuation of nearly $1 billion. Scott's impressive track record includes co-founding an IT consulting company that skyrocketed from zero to 85 million dollars in just 21 months, along with twice being named on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing companies in America. Today, Scott's mission is to help entrepreneurs achieve unprecedented profits without increased spending on marketing, sales, or technology. In this interview on the DealQuest Podcast, Scott shares his journey and insights into strategic roll-ups and entrepreneurial success. LEARNING THE IMPORTANCE OF MINDSET AND STRATEGIC ROLL-UPS Scott emphasizes the importance of mindset when it comes to entrepreneurial success. There are two types of roll-ups: The traditional kind, where businesses are combined without significant operational or marketing improvements. The strategic roll-up, which focuses on creating value and synergies. Any company looking to grow should seriously consider acquisitions and tuck-ins as part of their business model. Businesses failing to embrace this approach may be hindered by fear, lack of knowledge, or inadequate exposure to the benefits of strategic roll-ups. By sharing his experiences and insights, Scott aims to inspire entrepreneurs to explore new avenues for growth and unlock hidden potential within their enterprises. BUILDING SCALABLE BUSINESSESIn the world of business growth, there are two primary avenues: organic growth and inorganic growth through strategic deals. While organic growth involves sales and marketing efforts to acquire customers one by one, inorganic growth focuses on accelerating success through acquisitions, optimizations, and scalable systems. Scott shares his experience in the IT consulting industry, where his company executed a strategic roll-up by acquiring cutting-edge technology, marketing automation, call center services, and CRM integration companies. By integrating these entities into a unified offering, the company built a differentiated product that attracted customers and commanded higher multiples. Scott emphasizes the importance of purpose-driven acquisitions and the need to identify areas where a company can create a competitive advantage. THE POWER OF LICENSING Licensing allows businesses to extend their products, technology, or processes to a wider audience through strategic partnerships. By granting the rights to use their intellectual property, companies can tap into markets they wouldn't reach otherwise. Licensing helps with scalability and market penetration, enabling businesses to harness the strengths and resources of others to drive growth. Licensing is not limited to specific industries, and its potential spans across various sectors including some that are less obvious than others. By exploring licensing opportunities, entrepreneurs can tap into untapped markets, leverage the strengths of others, and create additional revenue streams. Scott's insights highlight the potential of licensing-driven roll-ups, where strategic partnerships and shared best practices can lead to exponential growth and profitability. Embracing licensing as a deal structure can unlock hidden value and open doors to new opportunities for businesses across various industries. • • • FOR MORE ON SCOTT HALLMAN:http://scotthallman.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/scott-hallman/ Corey Kupfer is an expert strategist, negotiator, and dealmaker. Healthy Food: Replacing Confusion with Freedom of (Good) Choice

00:00 Could you even define healthy food today? Not many could easily. Given the unique individuality of the gut biome making a healthy food for one, poison for another. On every “healthy food” diet today there is a way to do it “dirty.” 00:20  Keto, vegan, vegetarianism… done using packaged and processed foods without reading the label full of chemicals you're eating… it's known as following a “dirty” dietary stream. Alternatively, eating “clean” whole foods you prepare and plan based on the nutrient density of them, most often grown recently requiring water and sunshine has the opposite effect on the body. Remember the famous fit-to-fat-to-fit experiment with Drew Manning? He purposefully gained 40 lbs eating “junk” imitation foods and processed products. That was “dirty” keto. He then reversed it and resumed a clean whole food diet. The rule for healthy food that's plant-based, is eat more plant foods and less foods made in a plant.  When you're looking for fast and grocery store aisles that are full of fake foods wearing the label “keto-approved” or “vegan-friendly” it can be hard to remember these are marketing terms. They feel like labels of approval to the unsuspecting consumer trying to make better choices.  Enter my guest for this podcast. Where do we start? Where do we begin making changes ourselves and not perpetuating habits we were taught for future generations? We've got some answers in this episode.  03:23 My Guest:  After a decade of teaching holistic health, Lisa Jendza could clearly see a need to gather in the kitchen with like-minded individuals. A new ecosystem is needed that organizes resources from health advocates, food producers, and farmers to influence the shift to conscious consumerism. Freedom Kitchen is a place to gather, to nourish and to love. Lisa Jendza is a business and health coach who has owned a Wellness Spa and co-founded a Commercial Kitchen/Cooking School. A dynamic change agent and business guru, she cut her teeth in the business world with GM and EDS, leaving a successful career with HP after 25 years, in the fast-paced world of IT Consulting to coach others on holistic health modalities.   “Our freedom begins and ends in the kitchen.” -Lisa Jenza, Freedom Kitchen 3:40 Questions we answer on this podcast: Generally speaking, many are confused about what is "healthy food" and it's no surprise given individual needs and media - how would you put into words the problem with “healthy” today? Let's address the biggest question: what is the BEST way for an individual to choose their best diet? You teach cooking classes to kids; How did that passion for getting kids cooking begin? The name of your summit "fork in the road"? What is the decision/choice to be made? Why the urgency around your message? 28:00 Editor's Note: Listeners, the Fork in the Road Freedom Kitchen Summit isn't to be confused with prior guest and Flipping 50 friend Sheree Clark's Fork in the Road business name. These are two separate entities, though so surprise both have chosen this name and title for the very literal and figurative meanings it has relating to food and life. We apologize for any confusion you may have had.    “No matter where I serve my guests, they seem to like my kitchen best.” -shared by Debra   Connect and attend the Freedom Kitchen Summit:  https://www.flippingfifty.com/freedom-kitchen Lisa's Social:  LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/lisajendza Facebook: www.facebook.com/freedomkitchenkids Additional Resources:  Stronger: Tone & Define   Tricia Nelson's Quit Sugar Challenge
