The president of the student body at Iowa State University has been impeached by the Student Government Association because he is part of a group with ties to Turning Point USA. They claim he acted with "malfeasance" because he supports conservatives running for student government. Colby Brandt will now face a Supreme Court trial to determine if he will be removed from office. Ironically, at the same meeting the SGA approved funding for an Iranian student group and other far-left causes. It's time for the Department of Education to put up or shut up when it comes to universities that silence conservative students. All federal funding to Iowa State University must be frozen. Jeff Stein from KXEL Radio joins to discuss. And be sure to read more about this story at www.toddstarnes.com.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Join your ol' Stepdads as we explore one of the most underrated subgenres: horror comedies. You'll die laughing as we recap Student Bodies, House, April Fool's Day, and The 'Burbs! We'll also discuss some spooky movies we watched this month (including an insane film from 1983), TV shows we've been watching, and video games we've been playing.
Similar to Student Bodies, Wacko is a 1982 horror parody that primarily satirizes the slasher genre, all while cracking jokes at other popular horror movies of the time. This one centers around a Lawnmower Killer with an irreverent brand of comedy that basically throws jokes at the viewer in rapid-fire succession. We talk about how successful this is, the killer reveal, and whether Wacko deserves the multiple cast talents at its disposal! We're also drinking Tree House Brewing's Halloween beer, the Evil Julius triple IPA!Approximate timeline0:00-13:00 Intro13:00-21:00 Beer talk21:00-end WackoHaHaHalloween comes to an end next week, so stick with us! We might have a few tricks and treats up our sleeve.
One of the most important slasher parodies is also relatively little-known. For HaHaHalloween we had to be sure to take on 1981's Student Bodies, released in the heyday of the slasher movement and mostly satirizing Halloween and Friday the 13th. We talk about the jokes, the Airplane!-esque comedy, and how inspirational this film would be on a new line of horror comedies.Approximate timeline0:00-8:00 Intro8:00-16:00 Beer talk16:00-end Student BodiesHaHaHalloween continues all Halloween season!
Enjoy Stuff sinks its teeth into horror comedies this week as Jay and Shua look back at Once Bitten and Transylvania 6-5000, both celebrating 40 years. From misunderstood monsters to awkward vampires, these films prove that sometimes the best way to survive the night is to laugh at it. Pull up your coffin, grab a stake (or at least a waffle), and join us as we talk monsters, misfits, and midnight movie madness. News A new Simpsons movie is coming in 2027. Eggo has teamed up with Stranger Things for a limited-edition waffle giveaway Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we're Enjoying Shua dove into the new book in the Old Man's War series called The Shattering Peace by John Scalzi. It's a good continuation of a saga that Scalzi has been working on for years. Jay picked up replicas of Action Comics #1, Superman #1, and Batman #1 which are truly golden treasures of comic book history. And they even have the cool ads in them. Sci-Fi Saturdays - Sci-Fi Saturdays is currently on hiatus. But Jay continues his 31 Days of Horror at RetroZap.com, a month-long celebration of scary cinema that will keep you up all night! Here's a list of this week's lineup: Mon: Children of the Corn (1984) Tue: Dead of Night (1946) Wed: Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat (1991) Thu: The Premature Burial (1962) Fri: Urban Legend (1998) Sat: Pandorum (2009) Sun: Near Dark (1987) Enjoy Funny Vampires! This week we're celebrating the 40th anniversaries of two horror comedies: Transylvania 6-5000 and Once Bitten. Transylvania 6-5000 (1985) puts Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. in the middle of a monster mash that plays like an Abbott & Costello routine with Geena Davis, Michael Richards, Carol Kane, and more. We appreciate its goofy charm and almost hysterical jokes. Once Bitten (1985) gave Jim Carrey an early lead role as a teenager targeted by a 400-year-old vampire (Lauren Hutton) who needs his blood to stay young. With Karen Koppins as the girlfriend and a Halloween dance number that steals the show, this comedy is pure ‘80s fun. (even though some of it hasn't aged well. We also sink our teeth into other horror parodies of the decade, including Student Bodies (1981), Saturday the 14th (1981), Wacko (1982), Pandemonium (1982), and National Lampoon's Class Reunion (1982). Which of these comedy horror movies did you enjoy? How many times have you been bitten? Let us know! First person that emails me with the subject line, “I want to suck your blood” will get a special mention on the show. Let us know. What do horse head bookends, a gangly super bendy Gumby-like dude, and heavy breathing have in common? They're all parts of Student Bodies, the the first horror spoof movie, in the nature of Friday the 13th and Airplane!. Released in 1981 and written and directed by Mickey Rose, childhood friend of Woody Allen, it does a good send-up of the young slasher genre.

Continuing our “August Monster Madness" we have an unusual science fiction radio drama titled "Student Body" from the X Minus One series, originally broadcast in 1956. This is a highly unusual monster story, not concerned so much with scares as venturing into the territory of wondrous curiosity. The story is about a colonial expedition to a planet called Glade, where the scientific team encounters a unique and rapidly evolving indigenous species. To tell you any more than that would go into spoilers, which would be unforgivable with this story. Suffice it to say, it asks “what if,” and what would you do if faced with the strange and the unknown. Student Bodies (1981) is a horror-comedy that parodies the popular slasher films of the late '70s and early '80s. It follows a high school plagued by a mysterious killer known as "The Breather," who targets students in a series of absurdly over-the-top murders. The film pokes fun at horror tropes, including jump scares, suspicious characters, and the cliched behaviors of horror victims, making it a playful satire for fans of both horror and comedy. It's the movie that made America say, “Delta Rho Chi until the day that we die,” - and then America let it die immediately. That's right, we're submitting ourselves to the nearly forgotten charms of 1984's THE INITIATION with the help of writer, comedian, and host of TV Guidance Counselor podcast, Ken Reid!! Along the way, we unpack bird explosion theories, the limits of stop drop & roll, how to take revenge by Hitler mustache, bad small-town gossip, connect this movie to Student Bodies, and place Refugee up against our best and worst slasher movie bands!! All this, plus we consider the pros and many cons of Ralph Boner, and play a confusing game of Choose Your Own Deathventure!! Feel the rush this week on Kill By Kill!! All this, plus some innovative #GetBunked kills, an educational edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure, and we meet our new favorite character: Football Sword!!
