I'm Jonathan Case - a cartoonist from the great Pacific Northwest. I love to make art, to write stories, and to go on adventures with loved ones - especially if there's a hammock involved. Daddy's sleepy. Stuff I've done: My 2015 graphic novel, The New Deal (author/artist, Dark Horse), was a nominee for the Reuben, Harvey, and Oregon Book awards for best graphic album. In 2012 I snagged an Eisner award for Green River Killer, A True Detective Story (Dark Horse). My other books include Dear Creature (author/artist, Dark Horse), Batman '66 (artist, DC), Superman: American Alien (artist, DC), and Over the Garden Wall: Distillatoria and Over the Garden Wall: Circus Friends (author, BOOM!). I'm currently working on a new graphic novel, Little Monarchs (author/artist, Holiday House), which is a sort of a joyful post-apocalyptic adventure book for kids. In addition to comics I paint murals, create book covers, and illustrate for print. You can find some of that up on walls around Portland, Oregon (our current home base). My chief adventuring partners are my wife, Sarah, and our two daughters, Dorothy (pictured), and Miriam. Our son Otis, who we lost in 2016, tags along in spirit. https://jonathancase.net/

News! Piles and piles of headlines this week, but Adam and Logan get this podcast back closer to its roots and focus on deeper discussions and interesting tangents this week on everything from Max Landis' Ghost in the Shell comments, to Max Landis' run on Superman: American Alien, to Max Landis' appearance on The Game Over Greggy Show (I think there's a pattern here), and that's just the first segment! Covering announcements about a possible live-action Pokemon movie (written by Max Landis), casting news for Justice League and Spider-Man Homecoming, rumors about the PS4K and so, so much more! This was a fun episode to record, and here's to hoping more in the future turn out like this one!
First up in this double header episode, the esteemed writer and entrepreneur, Sean E. Williams (Fairest, Sensation Comics, Artful Daggers, Vampire Diaries). Comicker is his brand new digital imprint and he brings insight into the modern face of digital publishing, through his background of writing for Monkeybrain and his current work on the groundbreaking Stela app. They talk about the diversity of the creators and stories he's picked for Comicker and what the future holds for print versions as well. The second half is a chat with the exceptional Joelle Jones. Her Dark Horse comic "Lady Killer" is a sleek and stylish masterpiece that combines her love of meticulous detail and some dirty violence. To say this beautifully crafted retro tale of gender roles and assassination invokes Mad Men doesn't begin to scratch the surface of how cool and fun it is. She also talks about her work on Cullen Bunn's horror epic "Hellheim" and working with Max Landis on "Superman: American Alien".
This week in OSN we review Extraordinary 8, Uncanny X-Men 4 and 5, All New X-Men 6, Uncanny Avengers, The Wicked & The Divine, and Superman: American Alien. We then tackle a ton of stories in KAPOW! News. And in Retro Reviews we begin X-Cutioner's Song with Uncanny 294, X-Factor 84, X-Men 14 and X-Force 16.

It's Star Wars weekend so Jim and Eric talk...DC Comics. Yep, they stick with their mission statement and talk about every DC Comics comic book that came out this week. The podcast may be filled with Superman, Batman, and the Justice League, but Eric's girlfriend steals the show with her podcast debut and it's a doozy. In fact, it literally took Jim's breath (and ability to speak) away. We all hope that Eric is still alive and that you all enjoy the show. ----more---- DC Comics Reviewed: Batman and robineternal #11, Justice League #46, We are Robin #7, Justice League United #16, Batman Europa #2, Superman: American Alien #2, Martian Manhunter #7, Batman: Arkham Knight: Genesis #5, Secret Six #9, Batgirl #46 and Harley Quinn #23 DC Comics News: Big #50 issues coming in March (Batman, Superman, Green Arrow and Aquaman featured), Vixen coming to Arrow, Ra's al Ghul to appear in Legends of Tomorrow, White Martians to appear in Supergirl and Supergirl Digital First book officially announced with details. Spoiler #3: The Private Eye by Vaughan, Martin and Vicente is now out in Hardcover...need I say more?
