In an unexpected last minute turn of events, I ended up having the opportunity to visit the Disneyland Resort. My focus was on Disneyland Park as well as the Downtown Disney/Hotel District Area. We'll visit these locations to see what's new and what's happening here at "The Happiest Place on Earth". We'll look at new offerings such as Adventureland Treehouse, Pixar Place and Tiana's Palace. Speaking of Tiana, we look at its impact on the park as well as recent announcements of when Tiana's Bayou Adventure will arrive. We'll then look at entertainment happenings to include Mickey's Mix Magic and the incomparable Magic Happens. We'll also look at where Disneyland is in terms of receiving the permissions and authority to direct its own zoning in moving forward. Could Disneyland have a third theme park? We'll explore that and we'll finish up with some tips for how to make your Disneyland visit the best possible. __________________________________________________________ My new book, "A Century of Powerful Disney Insights" is available! Tiana's Palace background music. This features a fair amount of ambience including Walt Disney's speech being tapped in Morse Code at the Disneyland Railroad station, trains rolling into the station, sounds of Tom Sawyer's island rafts motors, beignet bags being shaken to coat the sugar on this pastry treat, and families walking by late morning discussing their plans. This recording is from behind the bandstand earlier in the day. Tiana's Palace has been opening early allowing for many people to take advantage of the redone quick service restaurant. The walkway started to get somewhat busy 20 or so minutes into the recording. It's a bit challenging to get this audio when it's busy and I'll absolutely need to come back at night some time. Audio recorded 11/4/23 at 10:27AM.Weather: Mid-80s Fall day, which started off in the high 50s.

New Orleanians discuss the menu for Tiana's Palace, the new restaurant opening in Disneyland in September 2023. Also, we wonder if IP in Disney Parks restaurants will be the norm going forward and which current restaurants could benefit from adding IP. Thoughts? Let us know at show@magicourway.com. Every opinion is welcome on this show.

Stormalong Bay is a big reason why many guests choose Disney's Beach Club Resort or Yacht Club Resort. So when the iconic pools is closed for nearly half a year, would you still choose to stay there? This story plus what's on the menu at Tiana's new Disneyland Restaurant.Would You Stay at Disney's Beach Club Resort if Stormalong Bay Weren't Available? A Walt Disney World Pool Closure Alert that's Going to HurtStormalong Bay is closing. From January 2025 through May 2025, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for maintenance. During this time, the Tidal, Admiral and Dunes Cove leisure pools will be available, so it won't be a total pool shutdown. However, with the start attraction of the resort closed will this -- and should this -- affect your plans to stay at the resort?--We Now Know the Menu at Tiana's Palace, Disneyland Park: Is it worth trying? The grand opening of Tiana's Palace over at Disneyland Park is on September 7 and will bring a taste of New Orleans to the park. Located on Orleans Street, Disney is confident this will become an instant hotspot. Let's take a look at the menu to see if we agree.Gumbo-lovers will have a couple different options to try. The 7 Greens Gumbo is a plant-based option featuring white beans, okra, yams, sweet potatoes, and heirloom rice. Or you can make it the 7 Greens Gumbo with Chicken & Andouille Sausage. There's also the House Gumbo which is a New Orleans staple combining braised chicken, andouille sausage, and heirloom rice into a dish we are curious to try.If you like a little extra spice, the Cajun Spice Half Chicken is one to try. The chicken is brushed with a house-made chicory BBQ sauce and served with baked macaroni and cheese and coleslaw. For sandwiches, there's the Muffuletta Sandwich has mortadella, salami, rosemary ham, cheddar, provolone and house-made olive relish on toasted New Orleans sesame seed bread. The Beef Po-boy Sandwich has slow-cooked beef coated with gravy and fully dressed with shredded lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise atop a toasted New Orleans French bread. Both are served with red beans and rice and house-made pickles. Gulf Shrimp and Grits are on the menu as well. Grilled and tossed in a Creole sauce, the shrimp are paired with cheesy grits to form a classic dish that is famous in New Orleans. Side dishes include Buttermilk Cornbread, Baked Macaroni and Cheese, Red Beans & Heirloom Rice, Coleslaw, Cheesy Grits and plant-based Heirloom Rice. Kids meals include a Roasted Chicken Drumstick served with a sweet BBQ sauce and heirloom rice, while the Toasted Ham & Cheese Sandwich is topped with ham and provolone. A classic Baked Macaroni and Cheese is on the menu as well. All three come with a Cuties Mandarin Orange and applesauce with choice of DASANI Water or small lowfat milk. And finally, yes, there is a House-filled Beignet featuring a lemon ice box pie filling topped with lemon glaze for the perfect bite. For coffee lovers, the Joffrey's Coffee Chicory Cold Brew is topped with sweet cream and there's a Ray Firefly Glow Cube* available with the purchase of a beverage in case you want to light it up. This add-on is a nod to the way Evangeline lights up the night sky. Finally, on the merchandise front you can to take home a piece of Tiana's Palace with the Lily Pad and Lotus Cup Ceramic Set (and it even comes with a House-filled Beignet).*There's a limit of 10 ice cubes per person, per transaction for the Ray Firefly Glow Cube. **There's a limit of two sets per person, per transaction for the Lily Pad and Lotus Cup Ceramic Set.--Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. News We were starting to get worried that the popular Star Wars Nite would not happen this year since Disney hadn't announced anything and May 4th is coming up quick! Well, last week they finally announced TWO Disneyland After Dark Nies coming to Disneyland. Disneyland After Dark: Throwback Nite will celebrate the 50's and 60's, with music and entertainment that will pay tribute to Disneyland's first 10 years. "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks will be performed, classic dancing, treats from the early days of Disneyland, and more! For Star Wars Nite, "Star Wars: Celebrate the Nite" fireworks will perform, the March of the First Order returns, a Lightsaber instructional demonstration and more will be happening. Magic Key Holder tickets went on sale Tuesday, February 21, with general public tickets on Thursday, February 23. Check the link in the show notes for all the dates and times. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/02/disneyland-after-dark-brings-2-more-themed-nites-to-disneyland-resort-this-spring/ Just under a month after Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway opened, we are already getting a standby queue! Starting today when this podcast posts, there will no longer be a virtual queue for the attraction. Individual Lightning Lane is still available for an extra fee, but guests can now walk back to the attraction without having to hit the right button in the app at just the right time. This also allows guests the chance to ride the attraction multiple times in a single day. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/breaking-standby-queue-available-for-mickey-minnies-runaway-railway-at-disneyland-starting-this-week/ - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/02/21/change-revealed-for-disneylands-newest-ride/ It has been a long time since the Haunted Mansion has been welcoming guests in its original form with the extension of Haunted Mansion Holiday this year. Wait no longer, the Mansion is back! There was even an upgrade to the show that was installed over the transition and has mysteriously disappeared since. A new birdcage with a bat inside was placed next to the chair at the endless hallway. This appeared in concept art by Marc Davis, but was never installed in the Mansion. - https://www.micechat.com/348153-disneyland-update-dropped-off-burned-out-forgotten/ - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/video-marc-davis-bat-in-a-birdcage-gag-removed-days-after-being-added-to-the-haunted-mansion-at-disneyland/ The long awaited return to the poor parade that was never given a chance by the pandemic comes back this week! Magic Happens premiered at the end of February, 2020, and closed with the park. As of Friday, the parade will perform at 3:30pm and 6:30pm daily. - https://www.micechat.com/348153-disneyland-update-dropped-off-burned-out-forgotten/ Weeklyteers who have seen the latest Ant Man and the Wasp movie will be excited to meet one of the characters from that movie in Avengers Campus. Construction has been progressing slowly on the new bridge, reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransico, but not much else. There will be a meet and greet area with Baymax, a floating wind turbine to power the area (fictionally, of course) and will be open to guests this summer! - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/02/step-into-san-fransokyo-square-at-disney-california-adventure-park-beginning-summer-2023/ The Mint Julep Bar, along with the French Market is closed to be transformed into Tiana's Palace, so where can you get the tasty beignets and Mint Juleps? Over near the Pirates entrance is the Royal Street Veranda where the iconic New Orleans Square treats are for sale. Once Tiana's Palace reopens, the items will return to the old locations. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/02/17/a-disney-restaurant-closed-heres-where-to-get-mickey-beignets-now/ A new sipper has arrived in Avengers Campus at Pym Test Kitchen. The Ooze Cauldron Sipper is inspired by the new Ant Man and the Wasp movie. The sipper appears to be able to be held by the handle on the top, or carried with the strap over your shoulder. Guests can pick one up for $27.97 and it comes filled with Quantum Ooze. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/02/17/disneys-new-souvenir-cup-comes-with-a-shocking-price-tag/ Registration is now closed for the runDisney events for Disneyland that is returning next year. Will Frontierland disappear forever at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom? New details about Tiana's upcoming attraction and restaurant hint at some big changes for the area currently known as Frontierland. This story, plus construction delays at Disneyland and construction inconveniences at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. Not So Fast! Mickey's Toontown Pushes Back Opening Date at Disneyland ParkIf you were counting down the days until March 8 for the opening of the all-new Mickey's ToonTown at Disneyland, you'll have to count a little longer. According to Disney, the heavy winter rain storms affecting parts of California have impacted their construction timelines, setting them back. As a result Disney has pushed back reopening date of Mickey's Toontown to March 19, 2023. This will most affect guests who have vacations planned between March 8 and March 19 and who may have been looking forward to visiting.--It's Going to be Harder to Get Those Steps at Disney Grand Floridian ResortAs we have reported in the past, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is in the midst of a fairly significant refurbishment project, which will see refreshed rooms and an updated main lobby. It's a big project that's lasting well over a year and will now be affecting the walking path between the Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom Park. As of February 13 the pathway is closed and won't reopen until "late Spring" (whatever that means).--There's a New Storyline Reveal for Tiana's Bayou Adventure and it May Give Some Hints of the Bigger Picture for Magic Kingdom that's AheadEveryone knows Tiana loves cooking and the restaurant Tiana's Palace coming to Disneyland is part of that. But Walt Disney Imagineering is creating more to the story. It starts in the queue for Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Tiana has transformed an aging salt mine and built a much-loved brand. The entire project includes a boutique farm and both a working and teaching kitchen. Tiana's Foods is where Tiana creates all sorts of new products, including a line of original hot sauces.Tiana wants to thank her family and friends and the entire community their support by throwing a big Mardi Gras party. When it turns out there's been a bit of a mix–up with the party preparations, Tiana invites us to meet her at Tiana's Foods to help with the missing ingredient for the party. There's much more to this story, but reading into it sounds like be could see new Tiana Hot Sauces, a Magic Kingdom Mardi Gras party and Pecos Bill's transforming into Tiana's Kitchen. They may even offer food classes for kids. Many people are concerned about what's happening to Frontierland, but when you factor in Beyond Big Thunder Mountain, there may be a much bigger picture about to unfold. We'll keep you posted as Disney releases more details about what's to come at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort in 2024.--Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it's time for a little Disney News! The ride concept for Tiana's Bayou Adventure is out, and it's an interesting one. After the success of Tiana's Palace, Tiana's now set her sights on helping the community by starting a community-owned food co-op of sorts inside an old salt mine. Also, over in Universal, a few weeks ago, Universal announced they'll be building two new experiences/parks in other locations in the U.S., one in Texas, the other in Las Vegas. As Disney people, we don't always hop on over to Universal Studios, but on our latest Disney trip, we decided to pay Universal a visit. We learned quite a bit from the trip and really got a chance to see with new eyes exactly where Universal thrives and Disney could up their game a little. So this week, we talk about some of the things we really loved about Universal that Disney could learn from (and maybe a few things we weren't so much a fan of). We also discuss the future of Universal and how that will absolutely have a direct impact on Disney, especially if Disney doesn't prepare themselves for it. As always, thank you so much for listening! Don't forget to check us out on Instagram, Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon. Have a magical week!

Some of the activities spilled out into Downtown Disney where there was a DJ, appearances of the Duck's mascot Wild Wing, and a hockey skill shot activity. - https://www.micechat.com/344595-disneyland-update-its-a-wall-world-after-all/ The Orange County Register has some good reporting this week about the downtime on the hottest attraction at the resort has gone up in 2022. Rise of the Resistance, the headliner attraction for Star Wars Galaxy's Edge rose from 80 minutes of downtime a day in 2021 to 122 minutes a day in 2022. Thrill Data metrics provided the data to the Register. - https://www.ocregister.com/2023/01/16/downtime-up-sharply-on-disneylands-450-million-rise-of-the-resistance-ride-data-shows/ We talked about the path between Adventureland and New Orleans Square becoming a dead end while they work on Indiana Jones and the Adventureland Treehouse. The entire path is being worked on not only to replace the entrance to the treehouse but also to re-grade the walkway as well. This is one of the areas of the park that is difficult to navigate with a wheelchair or stroller because of the angle. - https://www.micechat.com/344595-disneyland-update-its-a-wall-world-after-all/ Weeklyteers wanting to board the monorail at the Downtown Disney station may think it is closed with the construction walls up all around it, but it is still open! The area in front of the station is getting some paving work done. To access the station, there is an entrance next to the Pin Traders booth. - https://www.micechat.com/344595-disneyland-update-its-a-wall-world-after-all/ The wild weather in California over the last few days has provided some opportunities to see some things hidden behind scrims at the resort. The one that we were most interested in was the fire damage to the New Orleans Square train station. Both ends of the building show signs of fire damage. Railroad Cast Members reported that some equipment in the building that operates the station lights was damaged, so they are using radios at the moment. This means that only two trains, instead of three, can run at a time. - https://www.micechat.com/344595-disneyland-update-its-a-wall-world-after-all/ Discussion Topic Skipper Freddy – https://www.freddymartin.net Poverty Encounter – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWm2AzN0JFI Themed Attraction Podcast – https://www.themedattraction.com/themed-attraction-podcast/ Backside of Water – https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-backside-of-water-a-disneyland-history-podcast/id1003822031 Instagram: skipperfreddy – https://www.instagram.com/skipperfreddy/ Indiana Jones Steals Aladdin's Lamp – https://www.instagram.com/reel/CgHjnyHFNyU/
To all who come to this happy podcast, welcome! This time it's heavy on the Universal as we get ready to see the opening of Super (Mario) Nintendo World. Both Anthony and Dan will be checking out the passholder preview at Universal and they discuss their efforts to get that reservation, which was easy for Anthony, but time consuming for Dan. Of course we have some Disney talk as we gear up for the beginning of Disney 100, including already coming up on some of the merch. As usual we cover a lot of other random stuff including the planned Tiana's Palace to replace the French Market. Come along for the ride as we discuss all this and more on the Disney Culture podcast. See ya real soon!
How to Ride TRON Lightcycle Run Before it Opens to the Public on April 4 Disney travelers are anticipating the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run, which is scheduled to officially open on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park. But did you know that before the attraction officially opens there will likely be an opportunity for certain guests to get a ride? Cast members always get this perk (understandably) but Disney has basically said that Annual Passholders and eligible Disney Vacation Club Members will also be given an opportunity to throw their hats in the ring for this major perk.We don't know the details yet, but there will likely be a rush to get a spot once details are announced. The story of the ride is that it picks up after the “TRON: Legacy” story where Kevin's son, Sam Flynn, has opened a second gateway into a digital world called the Grid. The first portal to this world was built at Shanghai Disneyland with the original TRON Lightcycle Power Run. So it's fun how Disney has worked to continue the story and didn't just make this a copy of the Shanghai version. As the ride goes, you will be Team Blue against the Grid's menacing Programs, Team Orange. Your goal is to be the first to race through eight Energy Gates and secure victory. How this all pans out remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Tron Lightcycle Run will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world.---The Positive Changes at Walt Disney World Resort: If you're a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder you'll soon be able to visit the theme parks after 2:00 p.m. without needing a park pass reservation. The only exclusions are Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom Park and pass blackout dates. You can once again self-park at Walt Disney World hotels at no cost when you are a guest staying there. When you buy Disney Genie+ you'll also get free digital downloads of Disney PhotoPass attraction photos taken in the park on the day of your purchase. --- The Positive Changes at Disneyland Starting February 4, 2023, if you have a Disneyland theme park ticket with a Magic Key pass or a Park Hopper ticket you can start hopping two hours earlier – starting at 11:00 a.m. Disneyland will offer nearly two-months-worth of $104 park ticket dates throughout 2023, which means more opportunities to enjoy the lowest price one-day, one-park tickets. Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads taken on any Disney PhotoPass attraction during a park visit will be complimentary for ticketed park guests on the Disneyland app starting February 4 and lasting for the Disney 100 celebration. Disneyland Resort will make select Magic Key passes available for new sales from time to time throughout 2023 as pass inventory becomes available. --Tiana's Palace Coming to Disneyland Park in 2023Just as Tiana transformed an old sugar mill into her dream restaurant in “The Princess and the Frog,” Disney is transforming the French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park into a news restaurant called Tiana's Palace.Tiana's Palace will feature peach-colored walls and green wrought-iron balconies with elegant fixtures and appointments reminiscent of Tiana's film life. This should fit nicely into the current vibe of New Orleans Square. The new quick-service restaurant will offer guests an authentic New Orleans menu and expand on the current items served at the location. To make the change, the French Market Restaurant (and Mint Julep Bar) will be closed as of February 17, 2023, and will reopen as Tiana's Palace (alongside the Mint Julep Bar with its famous mint juleps and Mickey beignets) later in 2023.--- Moonlight Magic is Back 2023 Disney Vacation Club members, mark your calendars: Disney California Adventure - February 1, 2023EPCOT - February 8 and 15, 2023Disney's Hollywood Studios - May 11 and September 13, 2023Disney's Animal Kingdom Park - July 11 and August 2, 2023Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park - May 23 and August 23, 2023 -- Pool Closures at Disney Aulani in Early 2023Aulani's two popular water slide pool areas are closing for refurbishment. The Volcanic Vertical body slide will be unavailable from January 16 – February 3, 2023. The Tubestone Curl tube slide will be unavailable from February 20 to March 10, 2023 and Aulani's other water features will be open during the closures, including Waikolohe Pool and Stream, Ka Maka Pool & Grotto, the multiple whirlpool spas, Keiki Cove splash zone, and Wailana Pool.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it.
