Viel Spaß in Griechenland!

The story of how Gerondissa Makrina become a beacon of Orthodox life in Greece under the guidance of St. Joseph the Hesychast. Gerondissa's nuns later helped start many monasteries in America and Canada under the leadership of Geronda Ephraim of Arizona. Text is from "My Elder Joseph the Hesychast" by Elder Ephraim of Arizona, p. 574-580 -BUY "My Elder Joseph the Hesychast" here: https://stanthonysmonastery.org/products/my-elder-joseph-the-hesychast -BUY "Words of the Heart", the Life and Homilies of Gerondissa Makrina of Volos: https://stanthonysmonastery.org/products/words-of-the-heart -FIND an Orthodox parish and monastery near you: https://orthodoxyinamerica.org/ _______ From "My Elder Joseph the Hesychast": From her blessed sisterhood, nuns were sent to populate the monasteries of the Holy Forerunner in Serres and of the Archangel Michael in Thasos. In turn, these monasteries sent nuns to North America who established new monasteries with the ideals of traditional Orthodox monasticism. Something similar happened when Gerondissa Makrina became gravely ill and was coughing up blood. We didn't have a telephone to inform him about it. But in our next letter to him, we concealed her illness from him because we didn't want to upset him and interrupt his prayer. But then he sent us a letter and said: "My little children, why didn't you write to me that Gerondissa is I and is suffering, so that we could pray for her? You made a big mistake thinking that this would interrupt my prayer. When Father Arsenios and I were praying last night, we noetically saw that she was seriously ill, and we prayed hard for her. My children, I want you to inform me about Whatever is happening with the monastery and especialy with Gerondissa. Write me about it." St. Joseph wrote the sisters: “So submit yourselves to Maria, who is trying to benelt you, and all of us here are praying that the Lord will hep you and make you worthy of eternal life.” _______ Orthodox Wisdom is dedicated to sharing the writings and lives of the Saints of the Orthodox Church. Glory to Jesus Christ!

Olympiacos were denied three points at Volos with two goals chalked off for offside, while there were also calls for a penalty. Let's be honest here. There was one topic that dominated the podcast today and it was the derby fiasco between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos. But... we did discuss the round of SLGR. How PAOK are doing their thing whist their coach gets angrier and angrier each week. AEK back in the groove whilst Volos are languishing in last spot. We touched on the importance of this weeks european matches and how positive results for these can mean a lot of things for the 4 clubs. Greeks Abroad with Pavlidis matching Dutch footballing royalty history. And the final word by Steve, with Michael so beautifully finishing things off.
Greece's big economic success over the last years has been tourism, and, as tourists flock to Greece, so is foreign money. This is also coinciding with an increase in Greek homes going to foreign buyers, and in homeowners choosing to put their homes and apartments on platforms like Airbnb. As a result, average Greek property prices and rent have shot up, and many young Greeks fear that homeownership may be out of reach at a time when Greece is also facing a long-term demographic challenge. John Psaropoulos, an independent journalist based in Greece and Al Jazeera's southeast Europe correspondent, joins Thanos Davelis to look at how Greece's success story, tourism, could also be contributing to Greece's demographic challenge.Read John Psaropoulos' latest article here: Tourism's dark side: Are those who love Greece killing it?You can read the articles we discuss on our podcast here:Homes flooded as Storm Elias hits battered Volos in central GreeceGreece and Turkey seal mini migration pact
AEK struggle to get three points in Volos. Teddy's thoughts right after the match
This week Teddy discusses good things he saw in Volos vs AEK friendly. Plus a look into AEK's likely opponent in the 3rd of Champions League qualifiers. Looks like it will be Dinamo Zagreb!
Crazy weekend of football starts off with an announcement that the new Votanikos stadium construction has started. The playouts were tame with a few surprising results but then who would have thought "drunkgate" would take over the news with accusations of Polish referees getting drunk and getting into fights only for the story to be debunked and dismissed. No winners from that scandal and only losers from it where it's far from over. On the field AEK and PAOK do the business over Aris and Volos respectfully whilst in the nig derby match Panathinaikos were too strong for Olympiakos coming away with all 3 points in their 2-0 win. We finish off discussed the uphill task Olympiakos have in trying to overturn the 3-0 first leg win by AEK in the Greek Cup and answer all questions put to the panel.
Could this round determine the Champion of this seasons SLGR? First, we start with the playouts where a plucky Lamia is picking up points left right and centre and pulling themselves away from the relegation zone. OFI finishing off strong, Panetolikos are thinking about their summer holidays. Anyone can still go down so there's much to play for. Then to the crazy round of Playoff matches where we see Panathinaikos drop points to Volos at home and miss a late late 98th min penalty to add insult to injury. A plucky AEK do a smash and grab job in Thessaloniki with their 1-0 win, which in the context of this round was the best result. Olympiakos... 2-0 up and coasting end up having a 2-2 draw, and all hell breaks loose with Michel handing in his resignation straight afterwards, and Canos confirming it'll be a long shot that he returns to action this season. All that and much more as George and Niko share their thoughts in our latest podcast...

Not as firey this episode buts lots to talk about. SLGR results sees Panathinaikos get its groove back, PAOK fall asleep and let two injury time goals in to have a draw, AEK continue their impressive steamrolling ways and Olympiakos get it together with a thumping win. Down the other half of the table Volos break Atromitos' hearts, Aris free fall continues, OFI doing what they usually do and leave their run too late. Lamia sack their coach and get K Pap in to help the defense. Atromitos - AEK show rolls on for another week with no resolution in sight. Gus Poyet goes to see Tsimikas ride the pine in the derby match whilst our Greeks Abroad get a mention. SL2 - Still on hold and nothing being said. As usual from a league that is run worse than most amateur leagues. All that and much more

For Dan Corcoran, a fascination with option pricing began in highs school. By college, he was coding up pricing models and trading strategies in MatLab. Compelled by the multi-dimensional set of inputs driving prices, in 2014 Dan set out to found Volos, the financial backtesting and consultancy firm he is now President of. Dan shares with us his love for ski jumping and the manner in which dynamic calculations – of wind speed, snow quality and lighting pitch among them – must be made, sometimes instantaneously. Likening this to option trading, he notes how quickly investors must react to changing risk parameters in derivative securities. Our conversation explores both the power and pitfalls of harnessing data to generate insights on trading strategies. Dan assets that no strategy can be static but rather investors must respond to the reality that the market's risk profile evolves over time.We turn to some of the results generated through the Volos engine as Dan shares the counterintuitive result that even through the GFC, investors would have been better off not engaging in certain hedging strategies like put spreads. The Warren Buffet saying, “price is what you pay, value is what you get” may be applicable as the sky-high price of options through that period reduced the value of the insurance payout. Lastly, we discuss benchmarking, a feature well entrenched in traditional markets like stocks and bonds, but nascent to option strategies. Here, Dan is both optimistic and excited that efforts to create benchmarks can lead to asset growth in derivative-based investment strategies. I hope you enjoy this episode of the Alpha Exchange, my conversation with Dan Corcoran.
Panathinaikos keep winning, AEK keep pushing whilst Volos keep surprising us! Olympiakos are chugging away and are PAOK rebuilding with Greek talent, or have they closed off the purse strings? Time for Olympiakos to push the eject button from Europe or do they push for an unlikely win and keep the dream alive? Greece as a co-host for a World Cup with new stadiums built with Saudi Arabia footing most of the bill. Are you in? Crazy Tsimikas stats that show what a super talent he is. This has resulted in a lack of activities pursuant to the creation of an entertaining audio experience for transmission across usual auditory channels. In an effort to highlight that the efforts put forth by the hosts in conveying information is not yet free of error, I have complied a selection of erroneous, mistaken, and inaccurate statements made during the course of the previous solar orbit. I believe they were maintained due to some level of humorous appreciation, however my intent is to highlight the need for continual improvement so as to avoid repeated inefficiencies in transmission of information.I believe it is obvious that continued improvement is necessary to mitigate the chances of erroneous information being communicated. Please submit any and all messages suggesting methods of improvement or corrective actions to sendingstone@heroesrisepodcast.com, or by employing the communication channels on the Discord interface at discord.heroesrisepodcast.com.Also, if you believe you have additional or insightful information to submit for review, the following are the current community questions responses have been solicited for. I apologize in advance as I am repeating these verbatim and therefore the phraseology will not have my usual level of eloquence: So what is or was your reaction to the errata Wizards put out for Volos? Is the internet rage justified, or is it just more gatekeepers doing their thing? Do you think there should be an option to revert to non-updated versions of the digital resources, or is that what you sign up for when you forego buying physical copies? Are you good looking? Wait, are you looking good? No, are you…able to see well? What about in the dark? Do you have table-stories when vision failed you?As previously indicated, any assistance provided to the hosts in an effort to improve their informational accuracy are both needed and appreciated. I will continue my attempts to hone their efforts as time allows. It would appear Ostron's absence is being noted by various individuals. Depowering thaumaturgic circuitry, disconnecting power cores, releasing neuro-psionic interlock.Support the show (http://patreon.com/heroesrisednd)
