Send us a textIn today's Wisdom Wednesday, I break down the powerful truth behind the phrase "bad company corrupts good character." Growing up, I heard sayings like "show me your friends, and I'll show you your future," but it took real-life lessons—some hard and uncomfortable—to truly understand how critical this advice is.In this episode, you'll learn:Why tolerating bad behaviors around you eventually leads you down the wrong path. The painful real-life examples from my own life about how being around the wrong friends got people I care about into trouble.Six practical reasons why bad company always ends up pulling you down (including a lesson straight from my grandma!).The simple but life-changing solution to finding and keeping good company.Whether you're trying to break free from toxic relationships, align yourself with better influences, or simply figure out who to keep close as you level up—this episode is your wake-up call.
Our smartphones are shaping our brains in subtle but significant ways. What happens when we take a break from them? In this episode, I discuss a new study showing that just 3 days of reduced smartphone use can measurably change brain activity and 'cool down' craving circuits. The research taps into neuroplasticity - how stimuli like screen time actually rewires our brains over time. Other studies back this up, linking excessive phone use to poorer attention, memory, and self-control. Even short digital detoxes can start to reverse these effects. 2:00 - The study details: 25 adults limited phone use for 3 days. Brain scans showed less activity in reward/impulse areas when seeing phone images. 5:30 - How this reflects neuroplasticity. The brain is conditioned by what you feed it, including screen time. 8:45 - Other research showing impacts like worse attention and feeling 10 years younger after a 2-week detox. 10:30 - We check phones over 1000 times daily. This damages focus, stress, sleep and relationships. 12:00 - Tips: 72 hour reset, physical distance, disabling notifications, no phone zones. Give your brain a break for just 3 days. You may be surprised by the changes you notice in your focus, mood and cravings.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

New research reveals screen time could be worse for kids' development than we thought. In this episode I discuss new research on the negative impacts of screen time on social-emotional development in young children. It highlights recommendations around limiting screen time and data showing most families don't meet these. The research found increased screen time is associated with hyperactivity, emotional problems, conduct issues, and peer problems in kids under 5. It suggests fast-paced, overstimulating content and less social interaction contribute. Lack of sleep and physical activity due to excessive screen time are also detrimental. Venus Castleberg to discuss the hidden dangers of mucked-up home energy and a detailed interview and a guide to move old and stagnant energy away from the home and new energetic beginnings “I've always lived between two worlds. One part of me is deeply pragmatic—organized, grounded, with a head for business. I've run a construction company, an insurance agency, and founded Psychic University. But the other part of me is something less tangible… the part that can walk into a space and feel what's off, what's stuck, and what's ready to move. After decades of doing this work, I've seen time and again that, yes, the physical work matters… but so does the energy. That's why I believe in both—fix the roof and clear the field. What I love most: helping good homes find the people they're meant for—creating more harmony for families, communities, and the land itself.”JOIN US for another inspiring, educational, healing, and transformative show! In this edition of Wisdom Wednesdays, the focus is on the incredible malleability of the human heart, inspired by my personal experience with open-heart surgery. The episode delves into historic and revolutionary studies, starting with the 1966 Dallas Bedrest Study, which showcased the drastic effects of inactivity on cardiovascular health. It then explores follow-up studies that demonstrated how structured exercise programs can not only reverse cardiac damage but also make the heart more efficient and youthful, even in middle-aged individuals. I explore the importance of consistent, smart exercise, combining moderate aerobic activity and high-intensity intervals, to maintain a healthy heart into older age. The show concludes with a powerful reminder of the human body's need for physical activity, supported by an impactful quote from Professor Frank Booth. 00:00 Introduction and Personal Connection 00:41 The Dallas Bedrest Study: A Groundbreaking Experiment 01:41 The Impact of Bedrest and the Power of Retraining 03:54 Long-Term Effects and Follow-Up Studies 05:31 Modern Research: Reversing Cardiac Aging 06:23 Exercise Protocols for Heart Health 12:57 Key Takeaways and Final ThoughtsSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

And that when you speak from a place of love and deep knowing, it will land exactly where it's meant to. ❤️I'd love your feedback on whether you would like Wisdom Wednesday to become a regular thing. Life coaching... the real, transformative kind, reveals these outdated narratives and offers something profoundly powerful that other healing approaches sometimes miss. As both a physician and a life coach, I've witnessed how coaching unveils the truth that you're not broken; you're simply loyal to thoughts that once kept you safe but no longer serve you. While therapy, self-help books, and spiritual practices provide valuable language for your struggles, coaching delivers the transformation you actually need.Your brain, designed for efficiency, repeats familiar thoughts even when they hurt you. It whispers constant danger signals, keeping your body in fight-or-flight mode. But when coaching helps you recognize and rewrite these stories, your nervous system finally relaxes. For Muslim women specifically, I've created a sacred coaching container that combines life coaching principles with Islamic teachings, addressing the unique emotional and generational complexities we carry. This space,Wisdom Wednesdays and the Empowered Muslim Women program, helps women repair relationships, heal from shame, and rise into versions of themselves that feel whole and worthy.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------If this podcast has benefited you, imagine the value of a one-on-one meeting with me! For generations, women have been systematically taught to forget their inner intelligence. Patriarchal systems have consistently reinforced the notion that the male perspective is inherently correct. This disconnection from our own wisdom has profound consequences: we mistake silence for righteousness, shrink ourselves and call it humility, endure emotional pain and label it patience. When opportunities pass us by because of these learned limitations, it appears to validate the oppressor's claim that women are somehow less capable. The painful truth is that patriarchy thrives on hierarchy. It's built on the belief that someone must occupy the top position while another remains beneath—a dynamic that contradicts the Islamic vision of marriage as a mutual agreement and source of peace. When we're told repeatedly that our worth is connected to having successful relationships or bearing children, we begin to believe our value exists only in relation to others. But your worth remains 100% whole whether you're married, single, divorced, or childless. You are worthy because Allah created you worthy—no hierarchy can add to that, no relationship can validate it, no absence of a partner can diminish it.Healing begins with awareness and giving your experiences language. It requires recognizing this isn't about your personality flaws, but about socialized patterns. My work isn't about convincing anyone of their worth, but helping them remember what they've always been. Whether through coaching, reading, journaling, or whatever tools speak to you, don't wait for someone else's growth before reclaiming your power.Want to get coached by me? Our brains resist change as an energy-saving mechanism, defaulting to negative self-talk to prevent the resource-intensive process of neuroplasticity.• Default brain circuitry (nafs) creates resistance by telling us we're broken or incapable• Change requires breaking down neural pathways and rebuilding new ones, which consumes energy• When attempting change, the brain offers frightening "truths" that aren't revelations but defense mechanisms• Spiritual growth often feels difficult because our brains resist new interpretations, even positive ones• Three-step solution: stop giving default thoughts special treatment, borrow a regulated nervous system through coaching, and shift in small incremental degrees• Walking through the "panic zone" of the brain without believing its stories is key to transformation• Small consistent changes compound over time like shifting a ship's course by one degreeRemember to ask yourself: What three things do you want to change but keep putting off? What story does your brain tell when you attempt change? Is your brain resisting because the path is wrong or because it's new?Want to get coached by me?
