„You probably will have situations where you know, like you'll miss up on things. You miss things up, but that's fine that's life. What's good is that you capture these and you're present to them and you choose what you want to do because choosing to make to do something even if it's not good. Like you will be more comfortable knowing that you chose it not reacted this“ - Iyad Altahrawi How do you react in situations you can't find a solution? How do you learn from setbacks and see the opportunity in your life that you have a choice? So I want you to imagine 2 scenarios: 45 people, one house in the Gaza strip and a war that feels like it might never end. The other picture is standing in a room of highly intelligent fresh graduates from Harvard University in the US while working on the Coca Cola 360 Activation Plan in public affairs and communication. These two scenarios are just a few years apart for Iyad. I am very excited to have Iyad Altahrawi on my mic for episode 39 of the chapters of my life podcast. He is the startup's program manager of Gaza Sky Geeks, the first and only startup accelerator in Gaza. I met Iyad back in 2018 where I was impressed by the determination and passion of his Gaza Sky Geeks teams which he mentored and coached. His life book called "Trying Experiments "is all about his journey overcoming impossible situations such as war and how to self-reflect and create opportunities throughout his living abroad in the US and Germany. Throughout 3 chapters, we explored his ambitions to foster the Palestine entrepreneurship scene and how to create a ribble effect through coaching and mentoring. In other words, his passion for seeing obstacles as opportunities and how to support a community around him. Also, just a heads up, you will notice halfway in the conversation, we faced a very typical problem in Gaza Strip, such as a power cut. Even so, we continued shortly after; it's another reminder that no matter what obstacles are there, the solution to overcome starts with a positive mindset. I hope you enjoy the conversation! "No two people are alike. We're all different. But every person you meet in your life no matter who they are, whether it's a king or a pauper. You will learn something from that person whether you know that you have learned something today or you will understand that you have learned something in 10 years. Always know that whoever you meet, and whatever conversation you have will teach you something" - Ibrahim Murad In a world where success is defined by external outcomes, state of busyness, we need to learn to prioritize for inner outcomes. In fact, have you ever spoken the word “BUSINESS” slowly? What did you realise? Yes, it sounds like “BUSYNESS”. Being busy is not a state of productivity. It's a state of prioritisation. The question is are we prioritizing for the right things in life? When we learn to prioritise for ourselves, no matter professionally or private, we learn to stop being busy and START LEARNING TO LIVE. Very excited to have Ibrahim Murad on my podcast episode 38 today. He's a highly motivated professional with over 35 years of experience in commercial activities, business development, sales marketing across multiple industries. But this podcast is not about business, it's about him as a person and who he became over the last years of true inner reflection. I met Ibrahim at the end of 2020 through our coaching journey. Since our first meeting, what stuck with me was his reflection skills, driven and focused approach towards business and personal growth. His life book "Everything Happens for a Reason" contains 3 chapters. It's all about personal growth. It's all about how to overcome setbacks in life but also how to learn from others. We talk about the right perspective in life but also how to find a work-life balance. As he mentioned he doesn|t like chapter names we worked on some best titles for the listeners to better see the content of each chapter. I hope you like this next episode and life book 38 with Ibrahim. This is truly all about personal reflection. Enjoy!

For everyone who recaps the year 2020 might realise this year hasn't been all the way, we planned initially back in January. Grief, confusion and hopelessness might have been on each agenda. But it doesn't have to be that way. I had the pleasure to speak with Linda McLoughlin on my Podcast. She is Global Board Director of ICF and Master Certified Coach under the ICF. I first met her end of 2017 in Sharjah UAE and since the first encounter, I was impressed by her coaching capabilities and the energy she brings into the room. In her life book with 5 life chapters which she called "Hopeful voyager" we literally went on a sailing trip. Leaving a save harbour in chapter 2 to set the sail with her marriage at a young age and her first husband which she had from a young age, the drive to prove herself to learn from throwing herself into cold water.  A less hopeful journey we go through in chapter 3, is where loss is a daily theme in her life, but the inside voice that moving on was the only way forward. Chapter 4 is called "Discovering new Land" and it's all about moving from Ireland to UAE but also finding her now new partner and husband. As she said, she loves challenges but also encouraging others to take the leap to start their new sails and find new opportunity and adventure. Her last chapter is all about passing over her knowledge in coaching but also healing and life learnings. She calls it "Map building" to help others building their own ship to set sail to discover new land. I had Malavika Varadan on the Podcast mic. She is radio presenter of the morning show breakfast No.1 at City 1016 in Dubai. Her energy she brings into the room is addictive. In fact that Podcast talk is more than just sharing her life story, it’s about inspiring others to create a dictionary full of words which express adventures and experiences in life to share with others. She chooses 3 Chapters. Each decade of her life is one chapter. „Finding Words“ Chapter 1 is about her childhood in Bangladore, India. Already at age 3 on stage, she loved to emerge herself into role plays and creating stories. In fact, it was all about storytelling which continued at age 7 when she joined a theatre class. Despite facing a difficult family situation with her father's health, she started to create this mindset of turning any negativity into a positive outcome. Yes, it’s all about the mindset. Chapter 2 „Listening to Stories“ is all about finding the magic, as she once said while being on stage. Art was definitely an area she was very interested but also performing, which she eventually let her join a theatre. At age 19 invited for an audition for the radio channel in Bangladore, she got unexpectedly accepted and started as youngest radio moderator the night slots. Covering international music during the show back in Bangladore, she got an unexpected call from Dubai together with a job offer as a radio presenter. Chapter 3 “Telling Stories” start’s in her early 20’s in Dubai. Open minded as she is, she stepped into the unknown, and started in a city she barely knew anyone. Over the last 10 years, she became radio presenter at City 1016 Dubai Bollywood's Radio Show covering evening and now morning shows. She loves fitness and challenges. As she mentioned in her 100day fitness challenge which she started publicly in 2014 she needs to be accountable for her challenges to others, but also to be able to inspire others and to believe in them. In 2016 she highlighted an important topic not just for introverts but also for society in general, the lack of interest in other peoples life story. Throughout her TEDx talk “7 ways to make a conversation with anyone” she emphasizes the fact of the lack of knowing each other, the initial barrier of how to start basic conversations with people we cross our path on a daily basis. She said, the time when you forgot to check your phone is the time she wants to be in more often. “You have to start with gratitude first. Gratitude teaches you empathy, and empathy teaches you gratitude. If you are not thankful for what you have, you are not appreciative of what you have.” - Rami Sarrieddine I met Rami, Software Evangelist at Microsoft, who describes himself as a guy wearing suits and glasses together with running gear. I met Rami over a year ago, one part which connects us is running and entrepreneurship. For him important in private or professional life, is to start with gratitude. Being thankful to live in a safe environment, be able to run and to have a gorgeous family - and this summarizes Rami, a guy sending full of energy and passion whenever I met him for a run or when we talk about entrepreneurship. He chooses in his Chapters of My Life Podcast the Titel: “Pursuit of Balance” together with 3 chapters. Chapter 1 called „Pre Evolution“, where he describes his childhood and teenage age in Lebanon. He recalls himself as a child who had lots of imagination. Growing up in a country currently recovering from War in the 90s, he learned by doing. “Evolution” called Chapter 2 where he met his Mentor in his early 20s. A mentor who not just helped him to learn the skill of researching and questioning every answer, again and again, every day, he also got more and more involved in Software programming. Chapter 3 called “Reflection” and is all about starting his career at Microsoft, getting married, raising a beautiful baby boy. But this chapter is also about parenthood and what it means to raise kids in a stressless environment to prepare them mentally with a positive life-view for the challenges in life. I have to say, this podcast is also co-produced by sweet little Kyle, Rami’s baby boy. As you can hear especially in the last 20min, Kyle joined our Podcast complementing with some background music and noises ;-) But hey, why should we cut it out, when this is life and it can’t be more natural. Life is artificial enough to make every part of our life perfect. So we tried in the editing process to minimize the noise, but not to cut it out - I hope you still understand Rami‘s and my voice. Let’s kickstart with the Chapters Of My Life Podcast book called “Pursuit of Balance.” Never Give up - Always look up Enjoy! —————————————————- CHAPTERS OF MY LIFE PODCAST BOOK TITLE Pursuit of Balance CHAPTERS 1 Pre Evolution 2 Evolution 3 Reflection —————————————————— You can find more about Rami, on his website http://ramisays.com or on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/ramisarieddine

"Why do you even want to change the world, why would you want to change anything than yourself? Yourself is the only thing you can actually change." - Maria Paz This is Maria Paz - she is a traveller and explorer full of passion to find her inner self and peace, while helping others to find their inner self too. She co-founded Mind Body Soul, a Happiness Centre in Dubai in 2017 a platform to share tools for happiness and positivity in the corporate environment. Her friends call her Pazi and she feels there are no slogans to describe her life and journeys. With this mindset she aims to bridge east and west - Buenos Aires, where she was born, over India, Sri Lanka and finally Dubai. Pazi got 8 Chapters - starting with Chapters 1 called “In a little world” where she shares some childhood memories which proved that she was always more interested in what lies beyond the perceivable. “Unrealized Potential” is Chapter 2, about discovering her own potential while living in Buenos Aires. She reflects on her young age in Argentina like a plant, before the seeds beginning to sprout and see for the first time the daylight. Chapter 3 is about her attempt to study medicine but soon realizing that’s not the path she wants in her life. In fact, after one year she ended up in the US, her first abroad stay with little willing to settle down while keeping a mindset of “keep exploring”. In Chapter 4 she highlights the two phases while living in Sri Lanka, on one side the party life and going to the beach, on the other side the why question, which sparked the curiosity to learn about Buddhism & meditation. Pazi started to meditate and met new like-minded people. After 2 years she moved to Dubai under a slogan “what you resist - persists”. Chapter 5 called “timeless” where, as she said, it’s the “time where the journey begins”. She first went for few months to India, explored the country and travelled free without any strings. Back to the UAE as her home-base, she started to see Dubai with different eyes - That chapter she called “Dreaming”. She joined Wiso and the House of Om family to bring together the local Dubau community around activities such as meditation, yoga, dance, capoeira, beach swimming and more For Pazi freedom is part of her everyday life. No wonder she called the Chapter 7 “One Way ticket”. It’s about going to India with no return ticket, travelling alone and it is where she saw the connection between the dots. The journey was intense and a few months later, back in Dubai, she co-founded Mind Body Soul, a Happiness Centre to connect her passion to bring inner peace to a wider audience. Let’s start with the Chapters Of My Life Podcast Book of Maria Paz called “In the search of Freedom”. —————————————————- CHAPTERS OF MY LIFE PODCAST BOOK TITLE: In the Search of Freedom CHAPTERS: 1 In a little world 2 Unrealized Potential 3 Don’t Settle - Keep Moving 4 Two Phases 5 Timeless 6 Dreaming 7 One Way Ticket 8 Connecting Dots —————

Book 6 // Naser Al Sughaiyer and Life Without a Script

Naser is a special podcast guest. He is not just a valued colleague of mine, no he is in my eyes also the inspiration for many young people who are lost in knowing their true self. Naser describes himself as minimalist, coach and hippie, on a quest to discover what makes human beings feel alive, happy and fulfilled. Finding the inner child isn‘t on his quest, no he has it already and brings this to daylight on his daily coaching to young professions, students to find their true passion and potential in entrepreneurship, life and career. His Book title „Life Without a Script“ says it all. No conformity to status quo while being curious about what is next. Being open to change while living in the present. He chooses 7 chapters, starting with Chapter 1 „Living By The Script“ where he explains more about his „lost“ engineering study years. But also his first professional years in P&G where he could as well see good learnings for his future path. In Chapter 2 he literally is „Taking The Leap“ where he talks about a step by step personal progress towards inner satisfaction. He emphasized that building the bridge while knowing his priority was key in this part of his life and the years ahead. In Chapter 3 he asked: what is less? He called it „Stripping Down“ and explains what decluttering and minimalism uncovered within his life. Chapter 4 is all about „Moving Forward“ taking the next steps in his life at working closely with university students at Sheraa Entrepreneurship Centre. Living an extraordinary life in an ordinary environment is pretty much the summary of Chapter 5, which he called „Exploration“. He explains his first trip to the US and the „World Domination Summit“ in Portland in 2017 founded by Chris Guillebeau Author of the books „The Art of Non-conformity“ or the 100$ Startup. Chapter 6 called „Becoming Human“ which is about how to bring your inner child out and how to create things in the moment. He explains his current work at Courtyard Playhouse a Performing arts theatre in the United Arab Emirates, known for their improvisation stage plays. Last but not least „Finding Clarity in Confusion“ which is his last chapter number 7. Where he aims to live in the present, in the flow and, expanding improvisation techniques to help others finding their passion in life. —————————————————- CHAPTERS OF MY LIFE PODCAST BOOK TITLE Life Without a Script CHAPTERS 1 Living By The Script 2 Taking The Leap 3 Stripping Down 4 Moving Forward 5 Exploration 6 Becoming Human 7 Finding Clarity in Confusion —————————————————— You can find more about Naser, not really on social media, though on his older blog posts on Medium https://medium.com/@NaserAL?source=linkShare-d6329a95a3d7-1525411016 or via e-mail at nsughaiyer@gmail.com and FB Messenger. „One thing I noticed, most of them do not have any goals or expectations from their lives when they are young“ - Yasmeen Fatimah founder of Foundation for Equal Citizenship I had the pleasure to speak with Yasmeen Fatimah founder of Foundation for Equal Citizenship while she was in a short stay in Dubai. I have worked with Yasmeen last year in a Pashmina Scarf Project to empower underprivileged workers in India. Every time I met her, I feel that energy to empower minorities and underprivileged people and give them a voice. Yasmeen worked in Silicon Valley during the IT 2000er booming years at Intel, Visa and EMC as Software Engineer and Project Manager among others, but one area she couldn’t let of is trying to bridge the gap between inequality in living conditions or even basic human rights. Social justice has always been the main focus area throughout her career but also her own projects. With being as she said a nomad, she kept travelling between India and USA, between her Career in Silicon Valley and building social justice while bridging the gap with low-income workers in India as well as empowering young people to dream again. —————————————————- CHAPTERS OF MY LIFE PODCAST BOOK TITLE Contrasts that Shape Me CHAPTERS 1 Being Minority 2 Uncertainties in Life 3 Living in Silicon Valley 4 Social Change? “So many times in life we come across so many struggles so many miseries so many challenges but we should understand that this is the time when you will be in the best of your abilities” - Harinaam Anand - Founder of Kirtan Dubai I had the pleasure to interview Harinaam - founder of Kirtan Dubai, a community coming together every Friday to mantra chanting. This podcast is not just about kirtan, peace, fulfilment and giving kindness it’s also about living a simple life and giving back to the community. Harinaam once said “Kirtan is the Yoga of Music” - I couldn’t describe it better for someone new to Kirtans. Therefore there wasn’t a question about how he names his book. In fact, he called it “Kirtan for everyone”. What I found most inspiring was listening to his overcoming of setbacks in life, which eventually led him to Kirtan today and believe and drive to give back to the community. His passion for Kirtan brought him to among others the world famous International Yoga Festival back in March 2018 too. Spreading peace and giving kindness is on his agenda and that’s also why his next chapter in life called “Explosion” - in other words, spreading kirtan to more communities around the world. From her past work at Nokia as head of mobile phone user experience for S40/30 platform over BBC with the focus on the iPlayer, she uses design to enable users to create a better experience. Changify.org as well which she founded is a perfect example, focusing more on citizenship. Sam is the founder of ALL IN, CEO and Millennial Speaker at Twenty Someone. He works with over 140 individuals, specialising in millennials. Delivered Workshops and keynotes to over 3000 people. In a nutshell, his intensive coaching shifts young people‘s personal and professional life from the inside-out. Plus he was in the final round of the Queens Young Leaders 2014.
