Jennifer White is a choreographer who occupies a unique sweet spot between RAD ballet, contemporary dance, Kylie and the year's hottest movie: she is the choreographer of Barbie. Greta Gerwig's film includes delirious dance sequences led by Margot Robbie's Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. Those scenes chart the film's trajectory – in Barbie, dance really does matter. Jennifer has also choreographed films like the eerie Last Night in Soho, and worked with leading names in both pop and contemporary dance. And the young Jennifer did RAD ballet: so is Barbie herself RAD-trained? Jennifer White is a London-based movement director, performer and choreographer. She graduated from Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. In 2006 she was nominated for the Critics' Circle National Dance Awards for Emerging Artist, and in 2007, was highlighted as a breakthrough artist in The Observer's Hot List. She has toured internationally with Hofesh Shechter, Russell Maliphant, Ballet Boyz and Kylie Minogue, and has choreographed and performed for Adele and Basement Jaxx. She choreographed for Marvel Comic's ‘Avengers – Age of Ultron', where she also coached and was movement double for Elizabeth Olsen, and for Last Night in Soho. She has worked extensively with choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. As the Paris Opera introduces his contemporary pieces “In Your Rooms” and “Uprising” to their repertoire, Israeli choreographer Hofesh Shechter tells us about collaborating with the prestigious institution, and how they "bent over backwards" to accommodate his experimental work. With Shechter's recent piece "Contemporary Dance" coming to the stage a Paris's La Villette venue, he discusses how music and movement can supplant a cerebral conception of art and why he likes to "poke the bear" when it comes to audience expectations.

Twenty years ago, in the early hours of new year's day, a young artist tumbled off the Eurostar, ready to begin a new life in London. Hofesh Shechter grew up in Israel but had been living in Paris, and considered making dance as a showcase for his music. Instead, his unmistakable dance pieces – visceral and propulsive, witty and vulnerable – have made him one of the most distinctive modern choreographers, bringing the energy of a gig to often solemn contemporary dance. Political Mother, the title of perhaps his best-known piece, suggests how Hofesh's work can feel both public and private. But how does it feel to him? About Hofesh Shechter Hofesh Shechter, one of the most exciting contemporary choreographers, is renowned for composing atmospheric musical scores to compliment the unique physicality of his movement. Artistic Director of the Hofesh Shechter Company, formed in 2008, he is also an Associate Artist of Sadler's Wells. His repertoire for the company includes Uprising, In your rooms, Political Mother, Grand Finale (Olivier Award nomination) and most recently Double Murder. He works with leading international companies including Alvin Ailey, Batsheva, Candoco, Paris Opera Ballet and The Royal Ballet. "Living life without regrets is what we should aim for" - that his words. This time I had Yaron Engler - a musician, mentor and speaker on my Podcast. He lives what he says. Whenever you meet Yaron, you feel this excitement, energy and never-ending eagerness to find the adventure of your life. He has been touring for many years all over the world with world-renowned choreographers Hofesh Shechter and Akram Khan. For him a deeper connection with someone was key, and he soon realised through his performances he created moments with the audience or students that discovered something deep and meaningful about themselves. Yaron chooses 9 Chapters in his Chapters Of My Life Podcast. Starting with Chapter 1 called „Simple“ where he tells us his childhood till age 10 and where he in early age find interest in using music to express himself. „Dark“ called the next Chapters 2, and yes you guessed it, it's his teenage years. Why dark? Well like with many artists in their young age, school just wasn't a place to grow their passion. Fighting through the teenage years, Yaron kept playing the drums during these times and turned at age 18 his passion into becoming a professional drummer which is all about Chapter 3. Chapter 4 called „Transition“ and it’s a more difficult part for him where he had to do mandatory military service which prevented him in the first place to regularly play the drums and follow his passion. Over time, he was able to find balance, playing music, serving military service and be closer with friends and family. After 3 years service, he played professionally in a band and won auditions. Finally a time he was able to entirely focus on his passion which he called „Doing What I Love“ in his Chapter 5. In his early 20s, he won a scholarship which brought him for the first time to U.S. Berkley where he was able to take the music study to a new level. Surrounded with well-known musicians he was finally able to do what he loves. It expanded his horizon but at the same time enabled him to discover the world. This life part is chapter 6 and it’s about “Expansion" as he names it as well. Chapter 7 „Learning“ is about moving to Spain, learning a new language and starting from scratch in a new country while keeping the one constant element in his musical career playing the drums. Travelling around the world enabled him to express himself through music in a very rare and unique way. „Exploration“ is Chapter 8 where he moved to the UK with his wife, started a family and started to make a shift in his career. He had this inner feeling to better reconnect to his heart, his passion was essential not just for himself, but also to mentor and coach others - all with the elements of music and drums. This is why he decided to focus his work on helping people reconnect to their hearts. His next Chapter in his life 9 called „Balance“ where he aims to find a way to combine family with his two kids and his career, where music and drums never will be replaced. His motto till today" LEAD WITH YOUR HEART AND LET YOUR HEAD FOLLOW, INSTEAD OF LEADING WITH THE HEAD LIVING A LIFE OF REGRET IN YOUR HEART. A truly inspiring and yes crazy but in a good sense musician and performer. Enjoy Never give up
