Goldie Hawn made a 1991 thriller in which she plays a character that gets ... well, you know. "Deceived" featured our great Goldie getting gaslit, chased, and more. It was rare for Hawn to tackle the thriller genre and neither critics nor audiences quite knew what to do about it. But now, decades later, is this tale of duplicity worth another look? Does Hawn make a decent Scream Queen? And why is Adrienne and Jack's daughter so damn happy all the time? The Old Roommates paint some roses and give this mystery a revisit through their middle-aged lens. Pop on an ugly necklace and join them! QUIZ SHOW (1994) shouldn't work on paper: a quiet film about a 1950s game-show scandal, congressional hearings, and a rigged trivia show with no violence, no twist ending, and no flashy hook. And yet Robert Redford turns it into one of the most compelling American dramas of the decade: a deceptively sharp story about class, ambition, performance, and the birth of mass media. Christmas can be a hard time of year for folk, especially writers...Anyway, here we are, taking a look at Lynne Ramsay's MORVERN CALLAR: her second feature film about a young woman, her fiancé, her pal, and a quick trip to Spain in the New Year. You're probably thinking to yourself, "This sounds like LOVE ACTUALLY or something," but let's be real, this is LYNNE RAMSAY we're talking about here. It's dark, it's unforgiving, it's strange, and it looks really nice... Merry Christmas, everyone!

Send us a textWelcome back to DMRThe newest installment in the Predator franchise, Predator: Badlands, breaks new ground by placing a Predator, or Yautja, as its central protagonist. The story follows Dek, a young, outcast Yautja on a quest to prove his worth to his warrior clan by hunting the seemingly unkillable apex predator of the treacherous, alien world of Genna, often called "The Death Planet." His perilous journey leads to an unlikely alliance with an advanced Weyland-Yutani Corporation android named Thia, whose own mission on the hostile planet went sideways. Together, the mismatched pair must navigate the lethal environment, evade Weyland-Yutani forces, and confront a terrifying creature that challenges everything Dek has been taught about the honor of the hunt, making for a thrilling sci-fi survival adventure. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who also helmed the critically acclaimed Prey. The main cast features Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as the Predator protagonist, Dek, and Elle Fanning in the dual role of the androids Thia and Tessa. As of the latest reports, Predator: Badlands has earned over $162 million at the global box office. Critics have embraced the fresh take, awarding it a Certified Fresh 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences have given it an even higher score of 96%.Reminder to grab your 30 day free Audible trial, link in the show; you'll be helping support DMR
Two of our hosts watch their first Lynne Ramsay film with Die My Love, a relationship thriller that tests the boundaries of expression with its D+ CinemaScore and divisive reactions. In Die My Love, new mother Grace (Jennifer Lawrence) molds away at home while her aloof husband Jackson (Robert Pattinson) is at work. With only her baby, a barking dog, and her own thoughts to keep her company, she begins to unravel. We discuss its mixed reception, the economics of auteurism, and dive deeper into our fractured consensus on the film.

Strap in and charge up the Mr Fusion, because this week on Born To Watch, the boys head back, forward and sideways through time with our full Back to the Future Part 2 (1989) Review. Whitey, G Man and Will settle into the DeLorean for one of the most ambitious sequels of the 1980s, breaking down timelines, hoverboards, self-lacing Nikes and all the glorious 80s optimism jammed into Robert Zemeckis' wild ride. The episode kicks off with the crew riffing on 1989 as a powerhouse movie year, then quickly dives into how Back to the Future Part 2 faced enormous expectations. With a to be continued tease at the end of the original, fans were primed, and the pressure was real. As the boys say, sequels rarely outshine their predecessors, but every now and then you get an Empire Strikes Back or a T2. So where does this one land?Whitey shares how the film was a childhood favourite, the one he rewatched the most, and how time has shifted his appreciation back to the original. Gow reveals he saw it at the cinema on release and has clocked well over 15 viewings since, instantly transported by Alan Silvestri's iconic score. Will talks about how the franchise has simply always been there, one of those movies that defined growing up.From there, the episode fires through the good, the bad and the very strange. There's deep love for the hoverboard, the power-lace Nikes, and that brilliant rooftop confrontation where Marty lures Biff over the edge before swooping up in the DeLorean. The crew gives full credit to the groundbreaking split-screen effects, the energy of Michael J. Fox juggling multiple characters, and the perfect dual performance from Fox and Christopher Lloyd, who are operating at peak one-two punch level. They also dig into the weird bits the film never fully explains. Could Old Biff actually operate the DeLorean? Why does he get sick travelling through time when no one else ever has? Why do Jennifer and Jennifer faint from seeing each other, but Biff does not? How does Marty not realise Hill Valley 1985 has turned into a dystopian biker slum the moment he steps out of the car? From Jaws 19 to the brilliant Jaws VHS window cameo, from Indiana Jones nods to manure trucks, the boys unpack every Easter egg this film throws at you. And of course, there's a big chat about whether Biff Tannen's alternate 1985 persona is really just 80s Donald Trump in a green tracksuit. (Spoiler, yes.)The episode also dives into box office numbers, casting trivia, Elizabeth Shue stepping in as Jennifer, and some cracking tangents, including Huey Lewis, yacht rock, Stranger Things, The Little Mermaid, and even John Farnham fronting LRB.By the time the boys reach question time, they've covered everything from the butterfly effect through to whether a single rich bloke can really break the fabric of time. It's pure Born To Watch chaos, big laughs and deep nostalgia for one of the great sequels of our generation. If you love time travel, manure trucks and three blokes talking absolute cinematic nonsense, make sure you follow Born To Watch on Spotify and Apple. It doesn't get as much attention because it was a sequel. But it had a bigger budget, bigger explosions, a bigger body count, and it made a lot more money. We talk about Die Hard all the time, but this year we're going back to 1990 and watch the Christmas sequel. This time, John McLean gets stuck at an airport waiting for his wife to land, and it gets taken over by mercenaries who start doing all sorts of terrorist-y things. Apparently in movie history, there are only 2 actors to have 3 Number 1 films in a year. This sounds crazy! So Movie Mike investigates to find out if that is actually true and breaks down what actors he thinks have had the single best year run in movies from his research. In the Movie Review, Mike talks about Wicked: For Good. Now demonized as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba lives in exile in the Ozian forest, while Glinda resides at the palace in Emerald City, reveling in the perks of fame and popularity. As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, she'll need to reunite with Glinda to transform herself, and all of Oz, for good. Mike shares why he felt it could have been one movie, Arianda Grande and Cynthia Erivo difference in performances, how it compares to the Broadway musical but why he loves what the franchise has done for the movie theater experience. In the Trailer Park, Mike talks about Super Mario Galaxy starring Chris Pratt and Anya Taylor-Joy. He shares why he thinks about the new voice actors joining the cast and where it ranks on his list of most anticipated video game movies and his favorite Super Mario games. New Episodes Every Monday! It’s a Movie Review, but in a Car This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl get together to revive the Instant Reaction Review for SISU: Road to Revenge. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 SISU 2: 2:00 SISU Road to Revenge (2025) Ratings Out of 10 How Could There Possibly be Any Blood Left in His Body Because it All Pumped Out onto the Floor of the Train Darryl: 6.5/10 Brian: 6.3/10 Summary SISU: Road to Revenge brings back Finland's most unstoppable ex-commando, Aatami Korpi, diving straight into another brutal gauntlet of vengeance, grit, and sheer unbreakable willpower. After finding a fragile peace in the aftermath of his gold-fueled rampage, Korpi is dragged back into violence when a new band of opportunistic mercenaries threatens the one thing he has left worth protecting. What follows is an explosive trail of carnage across the frozen frontier: mines, traps, improvised weapons, and an old soldier's creativity pushed to mythic extremes. The film doubles down on everything that made the original a cult favorite — gnarly kills, dark humor, insane resilience, and the legend of a man too stubborn to die. SISU: Road to Revenge is a stripped-down, savage revenge ride that proves once again that SISU-ness isn't just toughness… it's a whole survival philosophy. Perfect for fans of the first film, pulpy action, and anybody who loves watching one man absolutely ruin an army's week. Cast Jorma Tommila — Aatami Korpi Stephen Lang — Igor Draganov (the Soviet officer hunting Korpi) Richard Brake — KGB Officer / Soviet antagonist Supporting / Minor Cast Einar Haraldsson — Soldier (Soviet soldier) Jaakko Hutchings — Soviet Soldier Ergo Küppas — Soviet Border Guard Anton Klink — Soviet Border Guard Creative Team & Crew Writer / Director: Jalmari Helander Producers: Petri Jokiranta, Mike Goodridge Executive Producers: Gregory Ouanhon, Antonio Salas Cinematographer (Director of Photography): Mika Orasmaa Editor: Juho Virolainen Music / Score (Composers): Juri Seppä, Tuomas Wäinölä Production Budget: $12 million Box Office*: $6.6 million worldwide Break-even*: According to one “break-even” analysis, the film needed about US $30.5 million worldwide gross to turn a profit (assuming production + marketing + distribution costs roughly 2.5× production budget). *as of recording Contact Us The Infamous Podcast can be found wherever podcasts are found on the Interwebs, feel free to subscribe and follow along on social media. Movie Mike Deestro is revisiting 7 movie quotes that carry surprisingly deep truths about life, purpose, and perspective. He goes through each quote and the deep lessons he got from movies you wouldn’t expect from Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle to Pokémon: The First Movie! In the Movie Review, Mike talks about The Running Man starring Glen Powell. It’s the remake of the 1987 movie about a man who joins a game show in which contestants, allowed to go anywhere in the world, are pursued by "hunters" hired to kill them. Mike talks about the good and bad of Glen’s performance, why it doesn’t quite feel like an Edgar Wright movie, where it lost him but why he thinks Glen should be in the MCU and what superhero he should play. In the Trailer Park, after years of waiting, we finally got our first look at the Michael Jackson biopic "Michael." The King of Pop's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, plays the pop legend. Other cast members include Kendrick Sampson as Quincy Jones, Miles Teller as Jackson’s attorney, and Colman Domingo as his father Joe Jackson. Will this be the music biopic we’ve been waiting for and will it be the first music biopic to make $1 Billion Dollars at the box office? New Episodes Every Monday!
