“Leadership isn't for me.  I'm naturally introverted, quiet, and shy - no one would ever listen to me.” Although this isn't a direct quote, it's a common excuse we hear from coaches, leaders, and business owners alike as to why they can't (or won't) lead or have the impact they want on those around them.  And to put it bluntly, this topic doesn't get the amount of discussion it deserves. That's why in today's episode Victor Hall, VP of Operations at EXOS, provides insight on his own experience pursuing impactful leadership as an introvert.  Together, we explore how to influence others, navigate different conversational styles and break through the barriers of shyness.  Victor Hall has spent over 20 years training athletes, leading performance teams, and educating fellow coaches and trainers. During that time, he has worked within collegiate, private facilities, and military environments. Victor joined EXOS in 2010 as a Performance Manager of a Human Performance Program for the Department of Defense, and currently serves as the Vice President of Operations at EXOS. We cover a few key components that make up this pursuit of effective leadership, including: The secrets of making an impact as an introvert (10:45) How self awareness contributes to leadership and creating a lasting impact (13:40 & 46:20) Where his natural tendencies haven't served him in the past (15:55) What he does to embrace authenticity instead of trying to “fix” himself (1:09:25) Related Resources:  E202: Why Facts & Logic Don't Change Our Minds E227: Stu McMillan: No B.S. Corey Smith and Walt Burns discuss the importance of setting up a service team for success in the RV industry. They suggest introducing customers to the service team during their purchase, making follow-up appointments, and offering prepaid maintenance plans as ways to retain customers. The dealers can entice customers with discounts on services or parts and accessories. By using these tools, they can increase customer loyalty and keep them coming back for more services. Walt discusses the importance of prepaid maintenance to retain customers and drive service loyalty, backed by hard data. He also emphasizes the need for open communication between sales, business department, and service department to unlock full potential. Setting the right expectations for service delivery is critical, including scheduling appointments ahead of time. Walt suggests upselling Easy Care extended service contract during inspection to eligible customers as a profitable revenue opportunity. Lastly, he highlights their complimentary recruiting platform that helps dealerships find qualified staff easily. I always feel best with a slightly negative TSB, but always tapered before an event to get well into the positive...might have to try going in without a taper. depends on the taper for sure; the word "taper" means different things to different people. I'd get rid of fatigue but still keep “some riding in the legs”, Even that means different things to different athletes based on their experience. One thing to look for is the TSB trending positive, but can still be negative. Cody stephenson doesn't even use PMC chart with polarized athletes because he was getting values that didn't match up with athlete perception. I have a guy who golfs 4h on Saturday….huge fatigue, but we don't count that TSS because it's not making him faster., we just need to monitor that fatigue. We dive deep into rowing technique and training methodology with Mike Lombardi! Listen in to geek out with us! This episode was gold! A little about WHOOP: We believe everyone has an inner potential. A potential to perform at their highest level. We believe this potential can be harnessed by uncovering secrets your body is trying to tell you. As humans, we wander through life with remarkably little information on how our bodies are performing. As my co-founder John used to say, “I can predict the weather next week, I know detailed health and performance metrics of my computer, but I don't know when I'm going to get sick or how hard I should workout today.” Why are you tired, sick, injured, fatigued? What sequence of actions (or lack thereof) led to that state? Conversely, why are you peaking physically, alert, primed…in the flow state? How can you get back there? Stay there? I grew up loving sports and exercise. Many of my childhood heroes were athletes. I was recruited to Harvard and became Captain of the Men's Varsity Squash Team. As a D1 athlete, I was amazed by how little I knew about my body. I would train for 3 hours a day with my teammates without knowing what gains I made, I was surrounded by athletes, myself included, who overtrained, misinterpreted fitness peaks, underestimated recovery and sleep, and got injured. Being prepared for game day often seemed… random. I became inspired by a simple idea: Humans, especially athletes, could optimize their daily performance. Optimizing performance was not a random sequence of events and decisions, but rather a systematic approach to understanding your body. Train with Us - Rep with Us www.movefastliftheavy.com
