Age is just a number is obviously a worn out cliche, but it is still proved rather true by my guest this week. Mary tells us her journey after being divorced at 62 which sent her on an incredible journey. I'll let Mary tell you more about herself: Hello! My name is Mary M Garcia. I was born in Vallejo, California although I spent over 50 years of my life living in Utah. I have spent most of my adult life wanting to write books. I had several topics in mind over the years, but the words never made it out of the pen and onto the paper. After deciding it was time for me to do what I wanted to do, I took a trip. This trip gave me inspiration to tell my story. I always knew I had a story to tell. In fact, I think I have several more that just might make it into book form. I just needed the right moment to tell it. That moment is now. I have had quite a few careers. I've worked in Accounting, I was a Bank Teller and Bank Assistant Internal Auditor, I was a Business Owner (Secretary / Treasurer, Agent) for a custom cabinet manufacturing company whose main commodity was cabinets for dental offices, I was a Volunteer and team lead for the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, I am currently an Event Security Guard, and now, I can proudly add, I am an Author. I want to inspire people over sixty, who may now find themselves single after years of being with a family, to continue fulfilling their dreams. I'm taking the “Old” out of “Old Age.” Mary Website: www.marymgarcia.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mis.stealth.5 Book: https://www.amazon.com/Drive-Change-changed-without-getting/dp/1734225300/ Stefan IG: https://www.instagram.com/stefan.zavalin/ Email: stefan.zavalin@ltmmtl.com Website: www.stefanzavalin.com Book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PM74BPD

Helena is 39 years old and manages institutional policy, and compliance training, at SUNY FIT. She enjoys cooking...and eating (a favorite activity that creates, and helps recall, the best memories). She paints, and is also an avid reader and writer, but still enjoys a good TV binge. A seasoned rider since childhood, on nice days you may also find Helena outside on horseback. Her three-syllable name also seamlessly replaces ‘Sharona's' in the 1979 Knack hit, “My Sharona.” Go ahead, sing it, she dares you. Rheumatoid Disease, Fibromyalgia, Asthma, Adenomyosis, and a rare but threatening kidney disorder present a host of physical and mental challenges for her daily life and work. She has been battling chronic illnesses since her teens which render her immunocompromised, in pain, fatigued, and has fought her way back from an almost terminal medical crisis. Helena has learned to strike delicate balances in order to live with her illnesses: listening to her body, but not allowing it to rule her life; grieving her body but allowing herself to celebrate the things it can still do (she's very active, and works out five days a week, when possible); not complaining but making sure to educate people on the very real struggles she and people like her face. She's been dedicating her time advocating for those who struggle with chronic illness by starting a diversity and inclusion initiative at work to call specific attention to the 1 in 4 Americans who struggle with a disability and what that means for ableism and an office environment. She's also working with her partner to raise money for a local chapter of the Fibromyalgia Care Society of America, an organization that helps people (and their communities) manage their lifestyles with Fibromyalgia. In October 2022, the TKO Strong Foundation honored her with the TKO Strong Award which is intended to recognize the strength of those who overcome obstacles in the face of adversity and who, through compassion, clarity, insights, and contributions, inspire others to have the courage, dignity, and faith to look past the diagnosis and live life to the fullest. Helena is an avid public speaker, having presented workshops at the state, regional, and national levels, and sometimes takes her show on the road for more intimate workshops in the professional environment. Her sessions and workshops focus on the relationships between personal and professional growth, and have been informed by trends she's noticed throughout her professional career. They aim to help people sharpen their self-awareness, and realize how certain patterns can not only affect them on a personal level, but also professionally as team members or leaders. By using biology and psychology to gain a better understanding of why we think the way we do, Helena identifies patterns in our behavior that are innate but yet do not serve us well – and then she aims to help break them. Helena enjoys utilizing an interactive approach to help question the ‘norms' we already think we believe, and then reshapes them to align more closely with what we actually need in order to be more effective, happier, satisfied, people and employees. Her sessions become unifying and liberating as attendees realize we all have the same “abnormal” thoughts together, and come to understand there is hope for change. TO BE CLEAR! The use of the word "diet" in this episode is strictly in relation to the way of life in terms of nutrition. It is not a dietary recommendation or prescription. Helping me with this discussion is Carol May, who is a bit of a disruptor herself. Carol helps successful Midlife ADHD women who have been at war with their body and in daily battles with food and their willpower for a long time, to stop binge eating and balance their dopamine by eating intuitively. Mike McQuillan's concept of movement is to constantly reinvent himself professionally and geographically. Originally from the mean streets of Massapequa, New York, he has lived in the four corners of the United States, in New England, Florida, southern California, and the Last Frontier of Alaska, and now makes his residence in Lima, Peru. He served as a journalist for the Marines, worked in several capacities in the fitness industry that you will hear about today, and moved to Peru almost 10 years ago to begin his career as an English teacher. Mike has combined his two greatest passions of physical fitness and public speaking to create FIT Presenter, which is the number one resource for public speaking in the fitness industry. Today you will see why the fitness industry depends on quality communication and public speaking, not only for your professional growth, but also for the reputation of the fitness industry. You'll see how the concepts you apply in fitness carry over to the craft of public speaking. You'll hear some great stories, and pick up some cool agility exercises using simple plastic rings. The video version of this podcast can be found on: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxsyHU9spurLF2rZg0cVBoQ It's ok, just breathe! Take a deep breath in, and out. If only breathwork was this simple. Unfortunately, we have moved away from breathing normally with our stressful and slouched environment. On this episode of the Love to Move Podcast, we talk we Tracey Howes about how we can start returning to improved breathing in our daily lives. The health benefits are truly staggering! Luckily, Tracey shares not only basic breathing practices, but some of the more advanced options as well. Tracey Howes is an Advanced Oxygen Advantage Instructor and RAID freediver based on the south coast of England. Freediving is a form of underwater diving that relies on breath-holding until resurfacing rather than the use of breathing apparatus. This specialized training and her own health needs inspired Tracey to expand her knowledge of functional breathing to improve general health and wellbeing. By incorporating scientifically proven breathwork techniques into daily practice and training programs, Tracey's clients have transformed their breathing habits to build confidence, improve focus and concentration, sleep quality, reduce anxiety and stress, train for marathons and prepare to swim The English Channel. Tracey is particularly interested in how hormonal fluctuations affect women's breathing and overall quality of life. She is committed to sharing evidence-based research to shine a light on the subject and empower her clients. Clients include recreational athletes, corporate leaders and teams, independent business owners, families and teens, amongst others. Tracey also collaborates with trusted wellbeing practitioners should clients require additional support. The eternal student, Tracey is passionate about sharing breathing education and practical exercises which can be applied in day-to-day activities with meaningful, measurable and long-lasting results. As noted at the beginning of the episode, PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO! This episode especially has visual movement components that are important to fully take in the information. Movement is in the core of the message for this podcast. Our passion for movement is the other half. Bobby Aldridge and I share a passion for physical movement that not only improves health but promotes longevity. It was heartwarming to hear so many of the things I repeatedly speak on validated again and again without my prompting. Bobby has worked for decades to improve how we do movement and mobility training not only in sports, but also in rehab. Bobby has a multitude of certifications and irreplaceable experience with a multitude of athletes and every day movers. I greatly appreciate how simple, yet effective Bobby's approach and equipment are. Please find more information on Bobby below and get some movement in as you listen to the show. While I try not to pick favorites, this may be my absolute favorite podcast episode to date. While the 20th episode holds a special place in my mind, I am also incredibly humbled to present Daniel and Juliet on this episode. Their story is utterly remarkable, and this is coming from someone who lost his vision to a parasite (different story for a different time, if you don't know it). Daniel and Juliet work with high achieving women who are looking to have a baby, but have failed or are not interested in IVF. Their journey to discovering this approach and then implementing it for so many women is truly astonishing. At the very least, reach out to Daniel and Juliet to just get a small spark of the beautiful and life filled energy that they bring! What do being a victim, Han Zimmer, and Pokemon have in common? Firstly, they unite so many people as a mindset or common interest, but more importantly they are among the many things we discuss with Kendall Johnson. On this episode we talk about what the decisions and emotions behind composing and producing a movie are, the ways to approach future projects and following your passion. Kendall Johnson is a composer and fil creator who has a passion for finding the stories in things we commonly overlook. He is currently working on a powerful piece called I Am A Victor, which looks at the approach of a victor mindset as opposed to a victim mindset. Megan Frazer is a humbling person to chat with. She is a silver medalist in World's field hockey as well as being repeatedly given the award for best US player, during her years at the University of Maryland. As she primarily wore her green jersey playing for Ireland, Megan shares the struggles of competitive sport. We discuss her repeated injuries and mental fortitude when powering through obstacles she could not control. My favorite part of this episode is that Megan has been able to shift her identity in field hockey from being a player to someone who is a valuable resource, and I don't mean just coaching!
