Everyone wants to find themselves but so many of us are drowning in the rat race. Suffering from burnout, battling self sabotage, desperate for change. My aim is to inspire you to take the scary steps towards the life you deeply desire. I'm Carla and I'm done censoring my voice. I have “taboo” topics to discuss that aren’t welcome elsewhere. I believe that sharing is the first step to healing. This is the unfiltered truth. Expect a raw insight into my experiences, and those of my guests, on topics such as trauma, shame, relationships, mindset, abuse, addiction, confidence, self love and more

How Can I Trust My Body when it's Attracted to F*ckboys!?

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 17, 2024 30:50

I truly believe that your body holds all the answers to your questions. It's your wisest guide. But we've forgotten how to listen to it's signals. I also believe that making choices and taking action purely based on thought, is a major contributor to the intense suffering we see today e.g. record levels of anxiety, obesity and addiction. But what a lot of women can't make sense of, is how can their body be their wisest guide, if it's signaling attraction to f*ckboys? The key to understanding the messages of wisdom communicated to us by our bodies, is to learn the difference between how a wise message feels, and how a trauma response feels - where our inner child gets triggered and needs soothing. This episode covers: Holidays in France and putting down more solid roots in London My ongoing frustration at heterosexual men for their lack of enthusiasm to use condoms How the patriarchy has really benefited from woman being disconnected from our intuition How to know the difference between wisdom from your body vs being triggered by trauma (with examples) My experience of learning to distinguish between my inner child asking for love vs recognising the intuitive whispers of the soul The importance of forgiving yourself for being human I currently have a limited number of spaces available to work with me 1:1 online. I support you in the feeling part of your healing journey. Talk therapy is powerful, but often being disconnected from our body and breath holds us back. I work with you to help you listen to what your body is telling you, what is being revealed in psychosomatics. I curate breathwork and movement practices, bespoke to you, to guide you to move through emotions and symptoms. Reach out to learn more! Music: Triple Point by Swoose

Silenced No More: How Breathwork Held the Key for Robyn to Heal Deep Traumatic Wounds so She Could Believe (and Share) Her Truth

Trigger Warning: Sexual Abuse. Some viewers may find this episode distressing My first guest, Robyn Dylan, shares her phenomenal story of how breathwork helped her overcome the complex trauma she'd been carrying her whole life. Robyn's childhood was troubled and when she did muster up the bravery to share her truth, she was silenced. She spent years in talk therapies, where she felt like she was rehashing the same story without seeing any change. Stumbling upon breathwork gave her access to tap into the innate wisdom of the body to start looking after herself, regulating her nervous system and dealing with her past on a much deeper level - on a somatic rather then intellectual level. As someone who wasn't seen or heard, she now feels it's her duty to see and validate people's stories. She helps them heal by listening, acknowledging and through breathwork modalities such as Rebirthing, Buteyko, CCB and TRE. In this episode, Robyn & Carla discuss: Robyn's story. Overcoming a traumatic childhood with the help of breathwork The impact of not being seen, heard or validated An insightful link between the secrecy that usually surrounds abuse in families, and the suffering of the Palestinians Seeking power. The psychology behind why people hurt and traumatise others Robyn's go-to breathwork practises & why she believes in breathing through your nose If you'd like to connect with or reach to to Robyn, you can check out her website and follow her on Instagram. Trigger Warning: Sexual Abuse Your earliest experiences stay with you. In the past people thought that what children didn't understand, wouldn't affect them. Now we know that that couldn't be further from the truth. Babies are inherently SELFISH. They will always internalise their experience and make it about them. Which is why we develop core wounds in our childhood… that then show up as our default reactions to situations in adulthood. In this episode: What somatic therapy is and what it's about How my therapist implored me to heal my inner child The impact in adulthood of my core wound How EVERYONE has trauma; even if your childhood was great How it impacts you and how you can begin to heal Today is the last day to join the Wave Effect if you want to work on this stuff in a small safe container. We start tonight at 9pm. If you want to see a second season of Wise Yourself Up, I really need your help getting this baby (the podcast) to roll onto it's belly. Every healer I've met has said the same thing: self love is the key to it all. The practices that I teach have changed my life, they saved me. And they've saved so many others. I never in a million years thought I would be devoting my life to encouraging people to learn to breathe deeply and to do less and be still. But here we are! In my opinion, meditation is THE most beneficial skill for self love, connection and health but many of us find it very difficult to learn. The problem is that we can't hear our own inner voice, our own inner desires, our dreams, because the thoughts are so busy. The most beneficial thing for our bodies, for our health is to relax. But most of us don't truly relax. Expect to hear about: Why I left my marketing job to teach self care practices Why meditation is so difficult for so many of us How 90% of us are breathing poorly and the impact this is having The importance of learning to breathe before learning to meditate Why learning to sit with yourself, to attend to yourself, is the highest form of self love You must love yourself first before you can share that love with anyone else I have a free 3-day mini-course for beginners! Each session is 7 minutes of movement, 7 minutes of breathwork and 7 minutes of journaling. Learn to attend to yourself. Join me every day for the month of January. This episode explores why. In this episode: The widely researched issue of men not caring about their health The common request from men to women of being asked to not use a condom Understanding and being respectful of the power dynamics at play My personal experiences and the influence that being an unwanted pregnancy has had on my values The impact of our unconscious programming and how sex as changed Relieving the burden on women to carry all the responsibility Open communication, speaking up, getting tested regularly Having compassionate for yourself during periods of change Work with Me: Today is the last day to get £50 off my breathwork courses.
