Mia is late to the party. Despite “Let Them” being (one of) her Words Of The Year last year, she is finally listening to the Mel Robbins audio book — and she has thoughts. In this episode, Mia and Amelia unpack the complicated art of female friendships. From the 'scatterings' of marriage and kids to the isolation of running a business, is the secret to staying connected actually just... loosening your grip? But, while Mia is feeling a “massive unclenching”, Amelia is asking whether 'let them' is just a fancy way of being a passive friend? Plus, the '3-Word Rule' that might actually save your friendship. In this special episode, Kelly Holmes marks an exciting new chapter as the 5 Second Rule Podcast welcomes a new co-host, Jess Fargher! Kelly and Jess laugh and bond about the quirks and nerves that come with recording a podcast, the passion and dedication behind being an infection preventionist, and a hopeful future of honest, relatable, conversations with guests. We're so excited for what's ahead, and we can't wait for you to tune in. Hosted by: Kelly Holmes, MS, AL-CIP, FAPIC and Jess Fargher About our Guest: Jess Fargher, 5 Second Rule Podcast Co-Host Jess Fargher began her career in Infection Prevention in 2022. With a diverse background of military service, laboratory science, and public health, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to a role that does not follow a single, straight path. Early in her work as an Infection Preventionist, Jess identified gaps in infection prevention education, particularly for non-nursing departments whose roles are critical to patient safety but often underserved in formal training. She developed customized, role-specific education to ensure every team member understood their impact on preventing healthcare-associated infections. Recognizing similar opportunities within nursing education, she began incorporating themed, multimodal learning strategies to make infection prevention engaging, practical, and memorable. Her experiences in the field have deepened her understanding of system-level challenges in healthcare and inspired her to pursue graduate education to further strengthen her skills in public health and education.

She's had her childhood photo used in an "ugly" meme that's all over the Internet. So why isn't host Clare Stephens upset about this dissing of her younger self? Also: "You called me, you speak first". Does Gen Z really answer the phone with... nothing? And, just literally do things. That's the message here to challenge the recent cultural domination of the 'overthinking introvert'. In all kinds of areas of your life, is it always better to underthink, jump fast and have a bias to action, like our self-help overlord Mel Robbins? And why is it easier for some people than others? Plus, Holly's midlife tattoo. Crisis or confidence? And why LinkedIn is cutting Tinder's grass on the matchmaking front. Bezos' Law - Chai Atreya, Chief Product Officer at ActiveCampaign, once helped build Amazon Alexa under Jeff Bezos.During one internal review, Bezos made a single comment — short, specific, and completely unexpected — that changed everything. He looked at the team and said:“I want Alexa to respond in under five seconds.”That one sentence forced every engineer to rethink what “great” really meant. They reimagined the architecture, redesigned the systems — and eventually, brought response times even lower. That's "Bezos' Law":The tighter the constraint, the bigger the breakthrough.I was honestly in awe hearing how that single challenge reshaped Amazon's design culture — and even more amazed at how Chai is now weaving that same mindset into ActiveCampaign's AI to help small and midsize businesses scale faster, smarter, and simpler. It's inspiring stuff — and it'll change how you think about innovation, leadership, and speed.

A New 5 Second Rule For Your Relationship by Maine's Coast 93.1
I was listening to Fr. Mike Schmitz talking about the five second rule in regard to food on the floor. But, at the same time I was reading a book about a different five second rule that can literally change your life, in five seconds. ---------- Hi there! Trapper Jack here. You are familiar with the five second rule, right? It's when you drop a piece of food on the floor and proclaim, ‘five second rule,' and it now becomes OK to eat. But there is another five second rule. While talking to Jenny, a God incident occurred, and a reference to a book called the Five Second Rule. Jenny heard something that she needed to hear to change her prayer life and deepen her relationship with God. It's one of those Touched by Heaven moments that's within the Touched by Heaven Podcast. It's always so cool when it happens. And it happens more than once in this episode. Amid all of this is Jenny's story. We see the hand of God in finding her husband. We see the hand of God in Jenny's dreams. We once again see how our angels protect us and help guide us. I love this conversation Because everything we want and pray for is right there at our fingertips … In about five seconds. Would you eat food that fell on the floor? That's the question Hannah and Dara are getting their teeth into this week as they put the so-called ‘5 second rule' through its paces. For some people it's 3 seconds, and for others its 10 – especially if it involves a dropped ice cream and a screaming child. But microbiologist Don Schaffner says there's no safe amount of time to leave food on the floor if you're planning to eat it. And while you might think buttered toast would pick up the biggest number of bugs, it may surprise you to hear that wet foods like watermelon are actually the worst when it comes to attracting harmful bacteria. If all this is putting you off your dinner, the bad news is that the rest of your kitchen is also a microbiological minefield. Research shows nearly 70% of us keep our fridges are the wrong temperature, which sparks a lively discussion about whether it's ever safe to reheat rice. For home hygiene guru Sally Bloomfield it's all a question of being a bit more clever about the kind of germs we expose ourselves to and weighing up risks.
