What They Used to Be". Today's episode is a Week in Beauty and it's packed with a few things that I'm loving right now, from YouTube accounts and books to beauty products and beauty news, including the story behind makeup artist Erin Parson's $800 moisturiser. As well as all that, I'm also sharing not one but two interviews with you; first I invite a very good friend of the show Felicia Walker, AKA @thisthatbeauty to tell us all about her latest venture, a workbook called Your Glow Guide and I also have a brand new meet the founder interview for you. I chat to co-founder of OSEA, Melissa Palmer, who alongside her mum Jenefer created a skincare line founded in nature that features one of the best smelling and performing body oils you will ever try.LinksHaus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation: https://go.shopmy.us/p-16263204Victoria Beckham Beauty brushes: https://victoriabeckhambeauty.com/en-gb/pages/brushes-by-victoria-beckhamMakeup by Nikki La Rose on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@MakeupbynikkilaroseBiobele Braide on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@bio.beleSarah Fennel's Broma Bakery on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@bromabakeryPreppy Kitchen on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@PreppyKitchenAston Em's video on Erin Parsons: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdFCCDsv/ Erin Parsons original video: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdFCFqC8/Javon Ford's analysis of Biologique Recherche La Grande Crème: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdFCmSGF/Felicia Walker on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thisthatbeautyOSEA Undaria Algae Body Oil: https://go.shopmy.us/p-16263154Andre Leon Talley's The Chiffon Trenches audio book on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0zgD9E3emRvpXfI94SpTcM?si=jVMe2_pWRMmEJUGjTWLdHgWHERE TO FIND MESubstack: https://beautymenotes.substack.comThreads: https://www.threads.net/@charisse_kenion/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/charisse_kenion/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@charissekenionCheck me out on ShopMy: https://shopmy.us/beautymeBusiness inquiries: info@charissekenion.com
En clôture, un format long signé Linda Perry et Grace Slick : "Knock Me Out". The Hives - Enough Is Enough AC/DC - Hells Bells Desmond Dekker - Israelites Adele - Rumour Has It Mss Frnce - De Plein Fouet Liam Gallagher - For What It's Worth Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man Black Country - New Road Dire Straits - Love Over Gold Tea Eater - The Waffle Song Supertramp - Goodbye Stranger Sparks - Drowned In A Sea Of Tears Sleep Token - Hey Ya Mitski - Me And My Husband Pearl Jam - Even Flow Witch Fever - Dead To Me! Emerson Lake & Palmer - Lucky Man 16 Horsepower - Clogger Kenny Loggins - Footloose (Live At Live Aid) Bob Marley - Get Up Stand Up Santana - Smooth M(H)Aol - Snare The Prodigy - Firestarter Beastie Boys - Intergalactic Royal Blood - Out Of The Black Wet Leg - Catch These Fists (Radio Mix) Linda Perry - Knock Me Out (Feat. In this week's Outspoken Review I'm talking about a pricey but truly brilliant moisturiser from Dermalogica, the cream blush that worked magic before my very eyes, why we all need a red lipstick today more than ever and I also have a bit of a rant about being told to smile!

Emma from The Broke Generation has shared some deep wisdom on this podcast. However, while practical strategies and structured insights are useful guides, there are moments in which we learn all we need from a single experience. In this session, Tash details how the purchase of a $100 moisturiser altered her relationship with money. At a glance, it seems like a strange catalyst for change. However, for Tash, the moisturiser symbolised a fork in the road – a choice about the life she wanted to live. Whether or not you use moisturiser yourself, you'll be able to relate; we all have our own “$100 moisturiser”, and how we respond to it can influence how we manage our finances.Tune in for the anecdotes, and leave with a fresh perspective on your own money habits!@tashinvests@anakresina@getrichslowclub@pearlerhqGet Rich Slow ClubPearlerYouTubeDisclaimerAny advice is general and does not consider your financial situation needs, or objectives, so consider whether it's appropriate for you. A while back, Tim came to London to perform at the Isokon building in Belsize Park, and I managed to catch up with him to record this podcast. As a small boy in the Seventies, Tim quietly absorbed the lessons of modernist architecture. He remembers accompanying his parents to a dinner party at a modern house, where the sound of laughter reverberated around the circular lounge; his career seems to have been about trying to recapture that heady moment. In 2003, he bought his own modernist house in Sydney, a move which, he says, ‘changed my life for the better'. His fascination with architecture and design had previously been a solitary pursuit, but the house provided a way to meet like-minded people and a launchpad for his TV career. Tim is really great company, and we talk about all sorts of things. He explains how he's an outlier in his family, and what it felt like to perform on stage for the first time. He tells me about the day the Beastie Boys came to visit and wouldn't leave, why he'd rather learn to be a builder than go through the stress of another renovation project, and why he swears by the uplifting effects of tinted moisturiser. This episode was recorded in person in Brick Lane, London. For more: Visit The Modern House website to see images of the spaces discussed in this episodeDiscover more about Tim Ross and his live showsSee more of his Sydney homeProducer: Hannah PhillipsEditing: Oscar CrawfordGraphic Design: Tom Young and Ben TuckerMusic: Father Hosted on Acast. As soon as I finished the first chapter of The Skin Science Warrior, I knew I had to have Shawna as a guest on my podcast. This is the very reason I created a social media platform. To share the truth about what your skin requires to be healthy. I work in an industry born out of a marketing term .. "Moisturiser". My mission has been to educate and empower those who wish to listen to have beautiful, healthy skin for a lifetime. Shawna and I align on many, if not all, approaches to skin health; as she termed it, we are both "Des-iples" as we are eternally grateful to our Mentor, Dr Des Fernandes, for his commitment to certain physiological features conducive to skin health. "Skin Science Warrior" provides valuable insights into the latest trends, research, and best skincare practices. It is a groundbreaking work, full of practical guidance, information and scientific data. Get it from www.fernro.com everywhere except in the USA where you can get it from www.skinsciencewarrior.org . If you want an Ebook it's www.fernro.com. Thank you to our fellow skin health warriors, Lusso Tan, for bringing you today's episode of Skin Deep By Corinna Tolan.

It's another 5-minute review in which I pick one product and tell you what the brand says about it, break down the packaging, the smell and feel, discuss some of its key ingredients and give it a mark out of 5 based on whether it matches the claims on the website and how it performed for me. James Dashwood Chase is the ‘skincare farmer' and founder of men's natural skincare brand, ‘Baz & Co'. The ‘Baz' is short for the hero ingredient basil, which is grown indoors in vertical farms and uses 95% less water than traditional farms. It can also be grown year round without chemicals and pesticides. The 3 step body wash, cleanser/exfoliator and moisturiser are the debut launches from ‘Baz & Co' and, as James explains in the podcast, there will be new products very soon. The company's innovative methods are clearly making the industry sit up and take notice. Baz & Co were recently awarded a place on this year's coveted ‘Brands of Tomorrow' programme by British luxury trade organisation, Walpole. It's a brand very much at the forefront of where beauty and skincare are heading - natural ingredients grown sustainably - and one that makes us think about what we're putting on our faces, in the same way that we think about what we eat. It might seem obvious to most of us that when you put cleanser on to wash your face, you rinse it off before you moisturise. But when Kiwi duo, Two Dudes Skincare, road-tested their products they found some men needed a bit more help with the basics… and that by getting men more into skincare routines there are wider well-being gains to be had too. One of the two dudes, Tomas Tappin, joined Tova O'Brien on Thursday morning to discuss how their business concept came about.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

So you’ve thought long and hard on pulling the trigger on some new K-Beauty products and you probably can’t wait to see results. When can you expect the benefits to kick in. Exactly how long does it take to see skincare results? On today’s episode we’ll take a look. CONNECT WITH ME Instagram: www.instagram.com/lauren.kbeauty Facebook: www.facebook.com/stylestory.au Website: www.thekoreanbeautyshow.com Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com.au/stylestoryau Tik Tok: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSaHUgHL/ Download Your Free Guide to K-Beauty: https://mailchi.mp/f845eb5d20cd/guidetokbeauty Patience is a virtue Unlike your Uber Eats, which should show up in the next hour, skincare is a waiting game. For some products, the best results don’t come through for weeks, even months. Whether you’re just starting out with some new products or have been at it for a while and aren’t quite sure what to expect, it can be hard to know when your products will start showing their best results. As a general rule though, the more that needs to change at your skin’s deeper cellular level (for example brightening your skin, or reducing fine lines and wrinkles), the more time you’re going to need to see results. It’s also important to keep in mind that just because the results aren’t visible to the naked eye, doesn’t mean that the product isn’t doing its job. If you’re using an anti-ageing cream on a particularly stubborn wrinkle, the results may be occurring below the skin’s surface. Even though you can’t see it right now, your skin is actually improving. That said, here are some time frames to keep in mind that will help you track the results of your skincare. How Long it Take Specific Skincare Products to Work: Cleanser: Immediately - 1 month After cleansing, your face should be looking clean and even-toned, with dirt and makeup removed. After rinsing, your skin should feel soft and smooth, not dry, greasy, or tight. While your cleanser’s main job is to… clean your face, there are plenty of cleansers nowadays with extra functions, like helping to manage oily skin or calm blemishes. Give it about a month to see these additional benefits kick in. Toner: 1-2 weeks After toning, your skin should feel smoother, softer and calmer. Remember that toner is not designed to be an extra step in cleansing. You should be toning on clean skin. While you might see results immediately if you’re using a hydrating type toner, for most toners with specific functions like pore care, expect to wait 1-2 weeks. Exfoliating Scrubs or Clay Masks: Immediately After exfoliating with a manual exfoliant, your skin should look and feel smoother with smaller looking pores. Skin should also look less dull. For best results, you will need to regularly use the product as the results will taper off after a few days to about a week. Retinols: 4 - 6 weeks There are few ingredients more effective for smoothing out uneven skin and guarding against acne than retinols and retinoids. Results will vary depending on the strength of the retinols, with prescribed retinols showing smoother, brighter skin in as little as 4-6 weeks. Keep in mind however that the stronger the strength, the stronger the side effects. High-strength retinols will definitely leave your skin looking worse for wear at first. Expect dryness, flaking and discomfort for a few weeks if using high strength retinols. Serums: 6-8 weeks For an extra boost to your skincare goals, it’s hard to go past serums like APLB’s Bee Pollen Propolis Ampoule Serum. There’s a huge range of serums for all sorts of skincare goals, which makes it hard to predict how long it takes for results to become visible. As a general rule of thumb though, you should see results from most serums within 6-8 weeks. Moisturiser: 1-2 weeks You can generally expect to see results from your moisturiser almost instantly. Once absorbed, your skin should feel and look soft and plump! With consistent use, you should expect the full results of your moisturiser within 1-2 weeks. AHAs & BHAs: Right Away, but peaks at 12 weeks Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to AHAs and BHAs Don’t be tempted to up your strength of AHAs and BHAs just because you don’t see results right away. Your skin's surface doesn't always show negative reactions immediately, even though damage may be taking place. You may not see or feel a reaction, but if the acid you are using isn't gentle you could still be damaging your skin and this will cause problems down the track. Keep in mind that regularly causing your skin to become sensitized hinders its ability to renew and restore itself. Vitamin C: 6-12 weeks Most of us are using our Vitamin C serums to target things like dullness and pigmentation; these issues are incredibly difficult to treat, even in a skincare clinic setting so don’t expect to see results overnight. Results will be modest because there is a limit to what skincare products alone can achieve, but you should start seeing results within 6-12 weeks. Acne Spot Treatments: 12 hours While pimples can seem to pop out of nowhere, it will take a little longer to get rid of them. Hydrocolloid patches like Subi’s Perfect Pimple Patch help to speed up the healing process and can minimise the appearance of your acne within 8-12 hours What to do if you Liked Today’s Episode - How Long Does it Take for Skincare Products to Work? This week’s episode is long overdue. While I’ve often spoken about skincare and might single out a favourite cleanser here and there, it’s only recently that I’ve realised that I’ve actually curated a cleanser wardrobe, almost like a cleanser for every occasion - especially when my skin is going through some ups and downs - so I thought it was time to share my top five. By the way, you don't need to have 'problem' skin to appreciate any of these cleansers - from the iconic Eve Lom Balm Cleanser to the cult fave CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser - you might well need one of these in your arsenal at some point. As always thank you so much for listening! Despite trying almost every product she could get her hands on, one Youbie has never settled on that 'perfect’ moisturiser, meanwhile another Youbie, Chloe, asks: ‘Since I have reactive and acne-prone combination skin, what hydration products should I be using?’ Leigh and Kelly have just the thing. Also, what’s a solution to those last eyebrow hairs standing? Leigh and Kelly weigh in on Julie’s brow-filling dilemma. Plus, has Charlotte Tilbury ever done us wrong? Beauty Entrepreneur and industry maverick, Tova Borgnine shares her unique and inspiring story of fortitude, gut-instinct and determination. The widow of the late Hollywood icon, Ernest Borgnine defied expectation and redefined the role of the “Hollywood Wife,” by launching TOVA Beverly Hills, a multi-million-dollar beauty business. The first beauty leader to recognize the business potential of television shopping, TOVA was the first beauty brand to be sold on QVC. 30 years later and with over 11 million bottles of her cult-favorite perfume TOVA Signature sold, Tova looks back on her pioneering career, sharing insights and lessons that she has learned throughout her three decades of success. On a personal note, growing up in rural Scotland, Tova Borgnine was the biggest influence on my own career, inspiring my love of beauty, skincare and fine fragrance at 14 years old. It is my honor to share with you the journey of my mentor and my friend. In this episode, Kelly shares a hilarious story about her experience with a pore vacuum. And it got us thinking…what do they do? Are they a gimmick or a useful tool? Plus, Leigh answers a question everybody wants to know the answer to - is it okay to use boujee skincare on your face and cheaper products on the rest of your body? And in Spendy Savey, Kelly recommends a deliciously thick moisturiser that’s perfect for winter skin. Happy New Year!! Alright, we know it’s still 2020... but we’re feeling some renewal vibes and since it’s the end of the financial year, we’re pretending it’s 2021. Back to the beauty… Leigh and Kelly stress that price isn’t an indication of quality when it comes to skincare. If you’re renovating or just wanting to save a few pennies, there are heaps of savey serums and moisturisers out there. Plus, do you need different shades of foundation depending on the season? Or is one enough? And in Spendy Savey, Leigh is obsessed with a gorgeous face oil that’s super hydrating and lightweight at the same time - win! While male grooming is on the rise, most men's bathroom cabinets are still a barren wasteland, occupied by only generic moisturiser, sad deodorant and a razor. Is that because men are not being catered for or because they simply don't care? Either way, the potential of the male grooming category isn't fully being met. Brands have an opportunity to stand out by going beyond the stereotypes of 'masculine' packaging and messaging, and athlete endorsements. Meanwhile, inclusive and genderless messages around body positivity, self confidence and mental health could resonate more than promises of strength and sex appeal. Host: Andrew McDougall (Associate Director, Beauty & Personal Care) Guests: Alex Fisher (Global Skincare Analyst), Margaux Caron (Global Beauty Analyst)
In this episode we talk about all the films we've been watching this summer, time travel, and House of X #1, plus the trailers for ‘The Irishman', ‘The Lighthouse' and ‘1917'!

Kate Morris was just 21 when she had her million dollar idea - Australia’s first online beauty e-commerce site, Adore Beauty. On this episode, discover how she did it and her own journey through beauty.Hello and welcome to Beauty Island, the beauty podcast that celebrates life and lipstick.I’m your host, beauty journalist, Brittany Stewart, and each episode I sit down with a guest to ask them about the 8 beauty products that have a special memory or meaning for them, that they’d take to a desert island, or Beauty Island, that I am sending them off too. This doesn’t necessarily mean practical products but rather the beauty products they’ve come across throughout their lives that carry significant stories, power or nostalgia for them. The ones that make up a little bit of who they are. Along the way we find out more and their life, career and the people and events that have shaped them into who they are today.Today my guest is Kate Morris, founder of online beauty retailer, Adore Beauty. At a time when we’re obsessed with lady bosses - a controversial term we do talk about in this episode - on paper Kate seems like the ultimate one in a million entrepreneur. And in a way she is - at just 21 years old, not yet graduated from uni, while she was working on the Clarins beauty counter in a department store she realised that there were better and more enjoyable ways customers were looking for to buy their beauty products. Online. Except it was 1999 and it just wasn’t a thing that was done in Australia. Kate went for it and nearly 20 years later Adore Beauty stocks established and emerging beauty brands like Dermalogica, Bobbi Brown, The Ordinary, Salt by Hendrix and Iconic London. But there’s so much more to her story. Like how she almost threw in the towel in the first year, the hard work you often don’t see shown on social media, the industry recognition that took a decade and Estee Lauder who said no to being stocked on the site for 14 years.I sat down with Kate in Adore Beauty’s Melbourne offices - and the first thing I noticed was how at 6pm on a Monday we were the only two there. You’ll find out the excellent reason why when we chat about work life balance. We also talked about how the beauty industry reacted towards a 21 year old from Tasmania trying to revolutionise the industry (spoiler: not well initially), the $19 multi-purpose balm she takes absolutely everywhere with her, and why it’s not ideas that are the most important thing but rather actually executing them. She is generous, brilliant and full of incredibly inspiring advice. One of the things that people ask us the most is: Should I have an SPF and a moisturizer or should I just buy one that is combined? Our answer is simple and clear: You should buy the two products separately. They are different products that have different formulation to achieve different goals. Combining them will weaken one or the other performance and instead of having a great SPF and Moisturizer you'll get a good SPF and a somewhat okay moisturizer. Most of the beauty industry disagree but we like a strong petulant opinion! Nothing But The Truth. Pinks Boutique is an award winning, eco luxe skincare line used by professionals.
