In this episode of the Best Coach Ever podcast, we're diving deep into one of the most common (and paralyzing) struggles coaches face: imposter syndrome. Whether you're just getting started in your coaching business or scaling to your next level, that nagging feeling of “Who am I to do this?” can sneak in and hold you back big time. And in this episode, we're calling it out—and showing you how to move through it.We're unpacking why imposter syndrome shows up (especially when you're new or leveling up), what it's actually trying to tell you, and the biggest lies it convinces you to believe. From comparing yourself to other coaches, to the fear of not knowing enough, to feeling like you have to be perfect to be qualified—we're tackling it all. Spoiler alert: the fact that you're worried about being a good coach is actually proof that you already care more than most.If imposter syndrome has been stopping you from pitching, posting, launching, or fully owning your role as a coach, this episode is here to give you the kick in the leggings you need to take action—scared or not.In this episode, we cover:1) The Perfectionism Trap & Why This Episode Almost Didn't Happen [0:00 - 2:41]- How starting over multiple times reinforced the need to ditch perfectionism. - Why messy action beats overthinking every time.2) What Imposter Syndrome Really Is (and Who Gets It Most) [2:42 - 7:26]- Why newer coaches feel it more—and why it actually means you care.- How even seasoned coaches question themselves sometimes.3) The Real Roots of Imposter Syndrome [7:27 - 13:02]- Lack of proof, comparison to others, and fear of being judged or letting someone down.- Why “being a few steps ahead” is more than enough to be a great coach.4) Busting the Myth of Being Perfect to Be Qualified [13:03 - 17:49]- Why your clients don't need you to be flawless—they need you to be real and caring.- The “coffee shop coach test” that proves you *do* know enough to help someone.5) The Confidence Loop (And Why Thinking More Doesn't Help) [17:50 - 22:43]- Confidence doesn't come from overthinking—it comes from doing.- Why taking messy action is the only way to become the coach you want to be.6) Trusting Yourself to Handle It (Even If You're Not Ready) [22:44 - End]- The truth about readiness and why it's a myth.- How to move through fear, self-doubt, and imposter syndrome by taking action anyway.Connect with Lynette:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lynettemarieh Fitness Coaching Business Accelerator: https://fcbaprogram.comThe Wellness CEO Mastermind: https://wcmprogram.com
It's time for Christians to let go of pretending and enjoy a freeing, authentic relationship with Jesus and others. Are you tired of trying to be someone you're not? Many of us spend a lot of energy—especially at church—trying to hide the fact that we're struggling. We can't share our problems, our sadness, our hurts and hangups and our sense of distance from God. In Being Real > Being Perfect, Justin Davis reminds us that God doesn't heal what we don't admit is broken. As he vulnerably shares his own story of redemption, Justin helps us understand: · Why being real with ourselves, God, and others leads to peace and hope · How faking perfection robs us of the transformative power of grace · What the Bible says about insecurity and identity · Step-by-step ways to overcome our fear of being vulnerable If you're tired of trying to prove yourself, if you're tired of wondering where the real “you” went, if you're tired of knowing information but not experiencing transformation—discover the vibrant spiritual life you long for as you embrace the truth that being real is greater than you can imagine. The younger the child, the fewer the filters. Great, right? Well, sort of. But you've probably been the recipient of some not-filtered observations that really stung. And that's only the beginning. Hearing critical voices without taking them too much to heart is, as Katie says, part of being human. We try to help with that in this edition of Doing What Works. Here are your show notes…Being Perfect might inspire you to stop carrying around a backpack full of bricks.Dogs aren't in a walk for the walking; they're in it for the sniffing. The Untethered Soul might inspire you to tell the voices inside your head to pipe down.Even five minutes of meditation might help you quiet those voices.“Tears are a sign of the presence of God in that moment.” ~ Dick Bolles

We cannot heal what we don't admit is broken. Yet too many of us pretend, perform, and try to appear perfect which keeps us striving instead of thriving. That's a journey that I used to be on myself! I often say that my books are a result of my mistakes and personal growth. That's why so many of them (and even this podcast!) have “No More Perfect” in the title. Authenticity is freeing and I have come to experience that freedom and so has my guest today.Justin Davis is the author of a new book titled Being Real > Being Perfect. He's an author, speaker, and pastor. Justin has dedicated his life to helping people experience life change through the power of authenticity. Being Perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect is a daunting idea! Starting from the beginning, when we first launched the podcast, we talk about Jesus' use of the word "perfect" in Matthew 5:48, its Greek etymology, and His use of the same word only one other place in His ministry - when He is dying on the Cross. Being Perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect is to be who we are supposed to be, just as God is Who He is supposed to be. So how do we BE perfect? Glad you asked. The answer is here!
We often think striving for perfection will make us better, that it will motivate us and provide a path towards our goals. In reality, perfectionism sets us up for failure and is a cause of burnout and imposter syndrome.Instead of setting unrealistic standards for yourself and expecting the same from others, modeling persistence over perfection is the best way to drive results and create a healthy culture for your team. That's why I'm dedicating this episode to uncovering the truth about perfectionism, and giving you tips on how to be persistent over perfect.Persistence not only leads to more success, but can have a huge impact on your confidence. So if you're struggling in a new position or have a fear of failing, this episode will help you change your mindset and become a more effective leader.Switching gears, we examine how to leverage failure for innovation, creativity, and fresh perspectives. You'll hear about building mental resilience, cultivating support systems, practicing self-care, and the crucial role of self-awareness. We'll guide you on taking a thorough inventory of your setbacks and transforming them into potent lessons. As we wrap up, we dissect the art of balancing persistence and perfectionism. On this episode of the podcast Chris and Jesse discuss Legalism Legalism in the Christian Theology is best said by American Scholar Thomas R. Schreiner who says “Legalism exists when people attempt to secure righteousness in God's sight by good works. Legalists believe that they can earn or merit God's approval by performing the requirements of the law,” From Chrisitanity.com - A legalist believes that their good works and obedience to God affects their salvation. Legalism focuses on God's laws more than relationship with God. It keeps external laws without a truly submitted heart. And legalism adds human rules to divine laws and treats them as divine. When I say Direction Not Perfection, I am not saying don’t try. I’m not saying don’t give your absolute best or stop striving to be the best version of yourself. There is a huge difference in the words perfection and excellence. I want excellence in your daily life and the only way we are going to keep up the momentum and confidence to keep striving for that excellence is to not be brought down by the expectation of perfection. Excellence is NOT PERFECTION and Perfection is NOT EXCELLENCE…Our new pastor at New Life Church in Arkansas talked about excellence this week.More specifically what “Excellence Is Not”1. Being privileged – it’s not having the best, it’s about doing the best with what we have2. Being polished3. Being Perfect – to this I say amen thank goodness I don’t have to be perfect to be excellentExcellence is different for everyone. A few examples of great habits of excellence are:1. Always give more than expected (have you ever heard the phrase under promise and over deliver… I like that one)2. Always find a solution. It’s easy to complain, much harder to create the solution3. Always learn from others4. Always be on time5. Always be diligent6. Always be prepared7. Always be honestThis is where you can write down your own measures of excellence and have a list as a visual reminder of what you are striving for. Everyone has their own measuring stick for success and if you try to compare yourself to someone else’s measuring stick you will always come up short. We should be striving for excellence within our day for ourselves as well as for those watching, especially our kids. We become strong role models, we get to be a game changer, a difference maker! We can leave this earth knowing we touched and enhanced a future generation!

John explores Matthew 5:48 “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” – what does it mean to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect? He talks about how this is not about being flawless but about living the Sermon on the Mount and suggests that this provides our agenda for Lent
Jesus taught his disciples not to judge, but not many outsiders would describe the church as a judgment-free zone. Shouldn't the church stand out in this area? Jesus teaches his disciples why judging is a bad idea. Pastor Luke looks at Matthew 7:1-6 in "Judging," the concluding message in his series, "Being Perfect."
When Jesus taught his disciples about being perfect, he told them not to worry about anything - even basic necessities like food and clothing. But our worries are just getting started there. How can we not worry, when there's so much to worry about? Pastor Luke looks at Matthew 6:25-34 in "Borrowed Trouble," part 4 of his 5-part series, "Being Perfect."
Jesus taught his disciples that no one can serve both God and money. But how many people lie awake at night worrying about money? How many people lie awake worrying about God? Jesus came so we wouldn't have to worry about either one. Pastor Luke looks at Matthew 6:19-24 in "Expendable," part 3 of his 5-part series, "Being Perfect."
What would your spirituality look like if you were cast away on a desert island? This question helps us access the spirituality that Jesus taught was the most rewarding kind. Pastor Luke looks at Matthew 6:1-19 in "Virtue Signaling," part 2 of his 5-part series, "Being Perfect."
Jesus says his followers are to be perfect, like their Father in Heaven. That doesn't sound easy. Jesus teaches us it's not just hard, it's almost unimaginable. Why would we do that? Why would we even try to do it? Pastor Luke teaches from Matthew 5:38-48 in "Rain or Shine," the first message in a new series, "Being Perfect."

There are seven basic fears. According to the great success writer, Napoleon Hill, these fears include poverty, criticism, ill health, loss of love, old age, loss of liberty, and of course death. In my experience, the two fears that keep us stuck, paralyzed from taking action on our goals and dreams, are the fears of criticism and the loss of love. Wired for survival, we’re terrified of being rejected by the tribe. We suppress the desire for something different in order to maintain someone else’s approval. We make criticism and disappointment mean that someone will love us less. But as Mel Robbins says on today’s episode of The Quote of The Day Show, people can be disappointed in you and still love you. You need to do what's right for you. It's your life.
