Reaching across Power Five lines ends, eventually, and then long-held bitter rivalries take over later as teams grapple for championships and bowl positioning. Here are some of the premier matchups to anticipate. NCAAFB – Transfer portal provides more hits, fewer misses for coaches Mississippi, Southern California, LSU and Nebraska were among the most active teams recruiting players from the transfer portal ahead of the college football season. Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin sought experienced players who could fill immediate needs. USC’s Lincoln Riley and LSU’s Brian Kelly went in looking for star power as they attempt quick rebuilds. Nebraska’s Scott Frost is simply trying to save his job. The top-ranked portal class belongs to Riley at USC but Kiffin is right behind at No. 2. NCAAFB – 2 Indiana State football players among 3 killed in crash Two freshman members of the Indiana State University football team were among the three students who were killed in a weekend crash. School officials said Monday that two other football team members who were injured in the crash are out of intensive care but remain hospitalized in serious condition. The crash happened at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the vehicle went off a highway and struck a tree about 10 miles from the university’s Terre Haute campus. Those killed were identified as 18-year-old Christian Eubanks of Waukegan, Illinois; 19-year-old Jayden Musili of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and 19-year-old Caleb VanHooser of Liberty Township, Ohio. Eubanks was a freshman linebacker, and VanHooser was a freshman defensive back. Gaines’ family says the former coach died in Lubbock after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Gaines made many stops in West Texas during a 30-year coaching career. He was best known for a four-year stint leading the highly successful program at Odessa Permian. His 1988 team was chronicled in Buzz Bissinger’s bestselling book. It portrayed a program that favored football over academics but had a sympathetic view of Gaines.

Dallas Cowboys News is full of Cowboys injury report updates and it’s not good for the Cowboys. Trevon Diggs is going to miss 4-6 weeks with a broken bone in his foot and Tyler Biadiasz is set to miss at least 2-3 weeks with a hamstring issue. But Chidobe Awuzie is finally coming back. There’s also Cowboys rumors on Mike McCarthy, Dak Prescott, signing Takk McKinley and Andy Dalton being the starting QB. Trevon Diggs’ injury is a major loss for the Cowboys, as the 2nd rounder might be done for the season. On the bright side, Chidobe Awuzie has finally been activated from injured reserve. He’s been out for about 2 months with a hamstring injury and his return will be a welcomed one. Although, now Center Tyler Biadasz might be out for a weeks with his own hamstring injury. Cowboys Rumors focus on Takk McKinley today. Will the Cowboys sign or claim him? If they do, what does that mean for Bradlee Anae and/or Dorance Armstrong? Cowboys news is from Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones, since they are talking plenty right now about Dak Prescott, Mike McCarthy and Andy Dalton. Will the Cowboys pass on a QB because Dak is the guy? What about sticking with McCarthy next year as the head coach? And is Andy Dalton really going to start when he returns to the team? Dallas Cowboys roster battles are set to heat up as Cowboys training camp approaches. So, Cowboys Report host Tom Downey is taking a look at some of the top options on defense only. That includes DE, CB and more. The top players fighting for roles include Randy Gregory, Aldon Smith, Tyrone Crawford, Trevon Diggs, Anthony Brown, Jourdan Lewis and Trysten Hill. Cowboys jerseys are 25% off: http://chatsports.com/cowboysjersey The Cowboys defense wasn’t good enough in 2019. With a major overhaul coming, there are several starting and depth spots up for grabs. That includes several roster spots at DE and corner. Defensive end is a key area for the Cowboys depth chart. Demarcus Lawrence is one starter. But who is the other? Randy Gregory, Tyrone Crawford or Aldon Smith? And who else makes the Cowboys roster between Bradlee Anae, Dorance Armstong, Joe Jackson and Jalen Jelks? Cornerback lacks a legit #1 option, but there are bodies and depth. Who starts at the 3 spots between Trevon Diggs, Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis, Daryl Worley and Anthony Brown? And with only a few roster spots, who gets cut between Chris Westry, Reggie Robinson, Maurice Canady and CJ Goodwin. Cowboys rumors on Trysten Hill are heating up as well. Will he make the roster? Or could the Cowboys trade him? There will be some tough roster cuts to make at several spots. Readyforthedraft.com's Gregg Schutze shares his passion for the NFL draft and takes you on a journey leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft. Gregg takes a look at some of the top names at the Defensive End position for this year's draft. Of course everyone knows the game wrecker that is Chase Young and AJ Epenesa is widely considered the No. 2 DE. But Gregg really dives into the rest of the draft class as well. Yetur Gross-Matos lives in opposing backfields, using his length to quickly stack and shed blockers to set the edge against the run while Bradlee Anae is physical and underrated. Maybe the top DE not named Young or Epenesa resides in Boise. Curtis Weaver has been a consistent pass rusher for the Broncos and Gregg finds an NFL comp for Weaver. Kenny Willekes plays with tremendous effort, Alton Robinson and Carlos "Boogie" Basham, Jr. are explosive off the edge, while Joe Gaziano resembles fellow Northwesterd Wildcat and current Green Bay Packer Dean Lowry. And James Lynch may be the best DE nobody's talking about.
