If we didn't have Frank Warren domestic boxing in the UK would be fried. How did it get so bad? As fans we either get historic fight cards, or really bad fight cards, with no in-between. What we saw this weekend was a dark omen for what is to come if we don't start addressing things now.

A decade ago a group of young boxes including Ohara Davies, Anthony Yarde, Craig Richards and a few others became the first bridge between conventional media and social media. They were the first generation that proved you could demonstrate marketability through social media and while many others had social media before nobody utilised social media in such an effective way. They were almost the influencers of their day, and you wonder if the opportunity been available a decade ago would these guys are promoted their own shows. Would they have become KSI of the Jake Paul's of their era? As we sit on the verge of watching this generation slowly work their way out of Boxing it might be time to give them their
Steve Bunce has spent 40 years writing and talking about boxing for just about every newspaper and magazine in Britain – and just about every TV and radio station as well. In his career he's reported at ringside in over 30 countries and rubbed shoulders with hustlers and hoodlums, kings and clowns, journeymen and Hall of Fame fighters. To use one of my favourite lines of his, that's boxing, as they say in the trade. Steve's new book, Around the World in 80 Fights, follows on from Bunce's Big Fat Short History of British Boxing. We go through it all here, charting the crazy journey women's boxing made in his time from the likes of Deirdre Gogarty and Jane Couch starting out to Katie Taylor headlining at Madison Square Garden against Amanda Serrano, a Kiko Martinez love-in in Belfast as he returned to reminisce ten years on from his world title fight with Carl Frampton, and a cheeky text from Kenneth Egan that ensured he got the armband on an all-Irish boxing football team. There's his legendary showdown with a raging Bernard Hopkins, a discussion of how the media landscape has shifted massively during his four decades in the business, memories of his dalliances with the hardmen of Russia and a poignant story about the late Gary Mason where there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Like his book, this interview has got a bit of everything. Here's to a few sequels. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Was Oleksandr Usyk's split-decision victory over Tyson Fury for the undisputed heavyweight crown the correct decision? Should the referee have stopped the fight in the 9th? Does boxing need VAR?...The Sports Agents brings you a bonus interview with former star referee and judge, Ian John-Lewis, days before the eagerly anticipated rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall - a fight described as the 'biggest robbery in boxing history', where Ian was one of the two judges who scored it in favour of Taylor... and never worked for the British Boxing Board of Control again. In this bonus episode, Gabby & Mark explore how elite fights are actually scored, what influences the decision to let a boxer continue and Ian's long drawn-out court battle to clear his name.New episodes every Tuesday & Thursday

CHRIS EUBANK JR breathed new life into his eventful career when he stopped Liam Smith in their rematch in Manchester, in the same arena where Smith stopped Eubank just eight months ago.The performance from Eubank was hard to fault, there was new patience and intelligence mixed with spite. Here's the issue. If boxers like Sandy Ryan are going to get dragged for losing a fight they were never the favourite for, why is the incentive to take a risk. Also, thanks to Ben Shalom for making Dan Azeez v Matthew Tinker. This is what British Boxing should be about. A real story behind this fight, no need to manufacture it.

Another week, another Josh gets stopped. However, while one was a surprise, the other was expected. At the heart of Josh Kelly's defeat was the ridiculous hype that had built up around him, based on nothing but overselling, hype and a few Instagram videos. That all points to the rot that is setting in around British boxing, with all parties partly responsible. From promoters.to trainers, fighters and fans, everyone has become carried away by the nonsense around the sport and until we tackle these issues, British boxers will fall just sort of elite. Part 1 will focus on the promotional side and the fighters. In Part 2, we focus on the trainers and the fans.

For a long time it has been clear that British boxers are being let down by their trainers. A lot of them might not be up to the job of creating world Champions. So, why are the Americans so much better at it? We seek to find out why in this episode.
You gotta love Eddie. The panel discuss whether British boxing would grind to an immediate halt if the great one bailed out and what he's contributing to the sport in general.
In this first episode, we talk with Boxing coach Adam Haniver. Adam is a former competitive boxer, coach, educator, and host of his own coaching podcast, 'The boxing coach podcast'. Adam and I discuss our similar journeys into coaching and our embracing of the a non-linear and constraints-led approach to coaching boxing and mixed martial arts.Adam is a very progressive and forward-thinking boxing coach from the UK and is constantly questioning and pushing back against the conventional wisdom and traditions of British Boxing coaching and training. A valuable discussion for any combat sports coaches who find themselves asking the same question. Can we do it better?
Gary Turner is a former professional Kickboxer and MMA fighter with a host of world titles to his name, after i spend the first couple of minutes fanboying about his MMA career with talk about concussion and the devastating and tragic impact it can have, as well as some of the things we can do to mitigate the risks. Gray is currently studying a PhD on the behavioural effects of head impacts in combat sport, talks really eloquently on a subject that he clearly has a wealth of knowledge about, and we touch on issues, including suicide, that are still very fresh and painful for many in the judo community with the tragic deaths in the last year of Craig Fallon and Jack Hatton. Gary can be contacted with questions on gary@garyturner.co.uk.
