See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

While things are improving, traditionally, professions like law have not catered well to a diversity of idiosyncratic personal needs. Here, one senior in-house counsel reflects on her experiences with neurodivergence and how she identified ways that she could flourish vocationally. In this episode of The Protégé Podcast, host Jerome Doraisamy speaks with Procreate head of legal Sarah Standen about her work in intellectual property at a software company, why it is so important to talk about neurodivergence in law, her own experiences and diagnoses, and the stigma that is often attached to neurodivergence across the community. Standen also reflects on how her diagnoses led her to identify the best pathway forward for her career-wise and how she could play to her strengths and interests, the thought process and practical steps she undertook, the questions one needs to ask of one's self, and what excites her about her own journey moving forward.

In the current climate, having a plan in place to develop, maintain and protect the intellectual property of a business is becoming increasingly important. Here, we unpack not just how best to do it but also how and why corporate counsel can get excited about such duties. In this episode of The Corporate Counsel Show, host Jerome Doraisamy speaks with Procreate head of legal Sarah Standen about her interest in intellectual property, her experience in a greenfield in-house role and why being an inaugural legal counsel is so rewarding, the increasing importance of staying on top of IP matters, and whether IP gets forgotten in the shuffle of other urgent priorities facing law departments. Standen also delves into the consequences of not protecting a business's IP properly, the fundamental questions the law department must ask when getting started on a plan, the practical proactive and reactive steps to take in maintaining the interests of a business, the flow-on benefits from having in place a good plan to develop and protect IP, and why corporate counsel should get excited about such a transformation project. Spoiler alert! The criminally under-estimated Freddy Standen doesn't rate his own intelligence very highly, but he certainly manages to deploy his common sense to excellent effect, plucking plans from thin air and smoothing Kitty's path through society during their pretend engagement. But remember, he's not kind-hearted! Oh no, heaven forbid, he's been on the town for years! Kitty, however, certainly has a generous heart and ensures that Camille and Olivia, and Dolph and Hannah, can all find love and happiness. Her faith in Freddy and realisation that storybook heroes aren't all they're cracked up to be is a delight to witness. And then of course, there's that extra something special about Cotillion, and it comes in the form of Lord Legerwood. The only man who could possibly supplant Freddy in our hearts. “‘Obliged to take you home in a hack, Kit! Nothing for it!' ‘You are welcome to take me home in a wheelbarrow!' She assured him. ‘Wouldn't do at all!' said Mr Standen decidedly, 'Sort of thing that would be bound to set people's backs up. Besides, haven't got a wheelbarrow!' She gave a shaken laugh. ‘Oh, Freddy, how can you be so absurd, when you are so wise?'” Instagram: @georgetteheyerpodcast Twitter: @heyerpodcast
Endlich reich!

Haar bijnaam is “Madame Déficit”.

As I talk to podcasters, many of them are so close to taking the next step. They simply lack the confidence to believe in themselves. EXCUSES They tell me things like... "I'm 30 days away from launching." "It looks like I am about 90 days from going live with my podcast." "I'm still conducting interviews preparing for my course launch this summer." What is holding you back? I know what you feel. I was in your shoes when launching my podcast. Planning. Learning. Researching. Trying to get it just right. Don't let perfection keep you from launching. Find your confidence. We often let procrastination creep into our lives disguised as "planning" and "researching". We tell ourselves we will launch right after we complete a few more steps on our "to do" list. Here is the problem: The "to do" list keeps growing preventing us from launching. When I was launching, I started with a blog. The blog grew slowly. I finally came to the realization that podcasters would rather listen to podcasts than read. That is when my podcast planning began. I started watching videos on podcasting. Podcasts about podcasting filled my iPhone. Newsletter subscriptions hit my e-mail inbox. Conference tickets were purchased. I even bought books about podcasting. It was a time when I consumed everything I could find. I kept telling myself I was preparing. Truth is, I was just procratinating. THE PUSH Months into my learning and planning stage, Dave Jackson from School of Podcasting reached out. Dave found my blog and wondered why I didn't have a podcast. Dave, don't you understand? I'm planning. I'm researching. I'm learning. Look at all the work I'm doing. Dave wasn't buying it. He had seen this movie before and knew how it ended. During that 90 minute phone call, Dave pushed me. He challenged me. Dave had confidence that I could launch in a week or two. I simply needed to find my own confidence and move. That was the trick. Start with the first step. You've heard it before. Every journey begins with the first step. Your first step may not be in the right direction. However, you make corrections as you go. Eventually, you reach your destination. FIRST STEPS People often ask me how I do I have the confidence to stand and speak in front of 15,000 people. It started with the first step. Speaking in front of 20 people in speech class was tough enough. To earn extra money in college, I began working as a wedding DJ. That job forced me to make announcements to groups of people every weekend. During a wedding, it was my job to introduce the bride and groom. They would have me announce the cake cutting, the first dance, the wedding party dance, the parents dance and usually the bouquet toss. It was also my job to get people dancing. The butterflies would flutter in my stomach every weekend. This was one of the biggest days for the bride. My job had a lot to do with her memories of this day. One day, as I was encouraging the ladies in attendance to gather on the dancefloor for the bouquet toss, I found myself repeating myself multiple times. These ladies were busy chatting with each other. What I was saying was of little interest to them. That's when it hit me. People simply are not as interested in my speaking success and failure as I am. If I mess up while speaking, there is a good chance I will be the only one to remember. People don't care that much. The same is true with your podcast. If you mess it up, few will notice let alone hold it against you. Dave Jackson always uses a quote from Ryan Parker from FoodCraftsmen.com. "Nobody will punch you in the face." JUST START Are you letting self doubt keep you from launching your podcast or next project? Is the Impostor Syndrome holding you back? "Why would anyone care what I have to say?" "What if I fail?" "What if I make a fool of myself?" All of the self doubt is natural. We tend to make more of our mistakes than anyone else. HELP You are rocking your expertise. We sometimes forget what it was like to not know the things we know. You just need a strategy to attract an audience and convert them to clients. This week's West Aussie Great is Jan Standen, president of the Grandparents Rearing Grandchildren WA and the 2022 WA Senior Australian of the Year. She spoke about the work her organisation does in helping grandparents provide their grandchildren with positive outcomes, while encouraging them to participate in their lives, and provide a safe stable environment as well as administrative, counselling and legal support. "Your heart sinks to the bottom of your feet when you're chosen against wonderful academics and chosen for a cause that you're very passionate about," she told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast. "Grandparents often get the kids when their children mess up, there isn't a choice... you could have four, five, six kids standing at the door with a police officer one night who says 'these children are in despair, they're in neglect, can you take them?' and you just look at them and say yes. "The grandparents lose their friendship base, their superannuation and houses sometimes if they have to go court to get guardianship for the kids, if it's a very unfair situation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

My guest this week is Jules Standen, who worked as an engineer with groups like The Lemonheads, The Smiths, and Siouxsie and the Banshees before starting an online forum for engineers in 2002. That hobby eventually grew into Gearspace.com, a place for all things audio, from gear forums and classifieds to gear databases and reviews, Q&A sessions with famous producers and engineers, and a worldwide audio community. Gearspace is now celebrating its 20th year serving online audio geeks everywhere, with over one million discussion threads, 13 million posts and 400,000 members. During the interview we talked about Jules engineering secret, how Gearspace got started, the questions most often asked on the forum, the most popular topic right now, and much more. I spoke with Jules via zoom from his office in the U.K. On the intro I'll take a look at how some music genres that streaming favors more than others, and a new physical music distribution format that's way better than vinyl but you may never see. var podscribeEmbedVars = { epId: 83397195, backgroundColor: 'white', font: undefined, fontColor: undefined, speakerFontColor: undefined, height: '600px', showEditButton: false, showSpeakers: true, showTimestamps: true };
Kiddos, where has all the time gone? The year 2022 is almost halfway over today, on June, 1st! Episode 370 of "XtraChill" picks up the theme of the previous episode - but in a different combination! Last time, only ambient tracks were on the playlist, but today they are combined with dub and minimal techno as a musical interplay. For this, dear Andreas has tied six tracks together into a six-pack - framed with two pieces by the probably most productive "XtraChill" artist at the moment: Tadeuš Jatkevič aka "Post Apocalyptic". Have fun with this unusual music mix!

In Episode 23 we talk with one of our lovely listener's Sally. After being on their trying to conceive journey for 10 months, Sally suffered through her first miscarriage and just a few short months later, another one after that. Wanting some answers Sally started exploring the route of IVF and underwent a hysteroscopy procedure where her surgeon discovered some unexplained scar tissue on her womb called asherman's syndrome. Fast forward another miscarriage, a laparoscopic surgery and the discovery of stage 3 endo Sally was feeling more than defeated. Sadly, her first 3 IVF rounds did not end in a single transfer and they felt like they were not receiving the best model of care from her ever so pricey fertility specialist. After changing clinics Sally and her partner finally had some successful results and they now have 2 beautiful girls that keep them on their toes. Sally's key take away from her very long and hard journey has been that just because one doctor thinks a certain way, doesn't mean that way is the right way. bto - beyond the obvious 2.0 - der neue Ökonomie-Podcast von Dr. Daniel Stelter
