El balneario de Punta Colorada, en Maldonado, tuvo varios tironeos con la Intendencia en los últimos años. Las denuncias sobre el deterioro de las playas y las dunas, la movilización de vecinos para evitar la construcción de la rambla, las críticas al diseño de la bicisenda. En 2022 una decisión judicial llegó a paralizar las obras de la rambla cuando ya habían comenzado, e incluso la Intendencia resolvió denunciar penalmente a los expertos que habían declarado para que eso ocurriera. Las obras finalmente terminaron, y el balneario tuvo un período de calma tensa. Hasta que, el año pasado, las miradas se pusieron en una vista clásica de Punta Colorada: las casitas de techo rojo sobre la costa. Según el gobierno departamental, están en terrenos públicos y hay que demolerlos. Pero quienes viven allí aseguran que tienen título de propiedad, y que llevan pagando contribución inmobiliaria desde hace un siglo. Ese diferendo se convirtió, también, en una batalla judicial, que escaló hasta abarcar una denuncia penal contra el propio intendente fernandino, Enrique Antía. Los vecinos de la zona se embanderaron con la causa, por considerar que las casas son un emblema del balneario, y también porque en el terreno en cuestión funciona la ONG SOS Rescate Fauna Marina. En marzo pasado, las vueltas del tema parecieron terminar cuando el Tribunal de lo Contencioso Administrativo falló a favor de la Intendencia y la habilitó a proceder con la demolición. Eso se programó para la semana pasada. Sin embargo, otra vez se pospuso, a la espera de que Antía vuelva el viernes próximo de su licencia. ¿En qué está ahora este tema? ¿Por qué los vecinos defienden tanto a estas casas? ¿Y por qué han estado tan “de punta” contra la Intendencia en los últimos años? While a tragedy, Colorada criminal sentencing guidelines imposed a mandatory 110 years on Aguilera-Mederos. While his judgment failed him before the accident, does the deserve what's essentially a life sentence?
