We may not always understand the evolution of the internet and how tech monopolies exist, but having digital freedom fighters is vital to making conscious change. Today's guest is Cory Doctorow. Cory is a science fiction author, activist, and journalist. He is the author of many books and most recently, Picks and Shovels, The Bezel, and The Lost Cause, a solar punk science fiction novel of hope amidst the climate change emergency.  His most recent nonfiction book is the internet con How to Seize the Means of Corruption, a big tech disassembly manual. Other recent books include Red Team Blues, a science fiction crime thriller. In 2020, he was inducted into the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame Cory talks about the slow decline of online platforms and has spent decades fighting for digital rights, fair tech policy and a better, freer internet. His work spans peer to peer networks to antitrust reform and his books—fiction and nonfiction—have become battle cries for tech reformers and digital freedom fighters around the world. In this episode we talk about how we got here, what Cory sees as the most urgent threats to digital freedom and the small cracks in the system that might finally let the light back in. From jailbreaking laws and app store monopolies to what comes after big tech's dominance, Cory shares a roadmap for reclaiming the internet—not just as consumers but as citizens. No nos importa volver a entrar en un valor que se acabe de ejecutar el stop, a un precio más caro, para nosotros cada operación es independiente de la anterior. Invertir en un valor bajista sin stop presenta varios problemas, el primero es que normalmente entraremos pronto en pérdidas y que éstas irán aumentando con el tiempo, y el segundo es el coste de oportunidad de no tener ese capital invertido en otro título que sí que esté dando buenos resultados. Se mencionan dos versiones: primero, la versión Reina-Valera 1960, la más común; y después, la Nueva Biblia Viva. Isaías 9:1-7. La versión Reina-Valera 1960 dice: Mas no habrá siempre oscuridad para la que está ahora en angustia, tal como la aflicción que le vino en el tiempo que livianamente tocaron la primera vez a la tierra de Zabulón y a la tierra de Neftalí; pues al fin llenará de gloria el camino del mar, de aquel lado del Jordán, en Galilea de los gentiles. El pueblo que andaba en tinieblas vio gran luz; los que moraban en tierra de sombra de muerte, luz resplandeció sobre ellos. Multiplicaste la gente, y aumentaste la alegría. Se alegrarán delante de ti como se alegran en la siega, como se gozan cuando reparten despojos. La mayoría de los milagros que Jesús hizo fue en estas tierras de Galilea. Isaías, capítulo 9, profetiza que tal vez vengan momentos de angustia, tierras desoladas, despreciadas y tiempos difíciles, pero no serán para siempre. En 1 Reyes, capítulo 10, se cuenta que el rey Salomón le regaló 20 tierras a Hiram, después de que este había provisto madera y oro para la construcción del templo de Dios y del palacio de Salomón. En gratitud, Salomón le regaló 20 tierras al rey de Tiro, Hiram. Muy emocionado, el rey de Tiro fue a ver las tierras que su amigo Salomón le había regalado, pero no le gustaron los regalos que Salomón le dio. Y le llamó Cabul. Cabul significa desértico o pantanoso. El regalo que le dieron a Hiram no le gustó y dijo: "No te la regreso, mejor dame otra cosa." Salomón siempre era muy espléndido para dar regalos y estaba tan agradecido con Hiram que le regaló 20 ciudades de Galilea. Esas ciudades, aproximadamente 600 años después, fueron donde Jesús comenzó su ministerio y que actualmente generan las mayores divisas a nivel mundial por el turismo religioso. Las tierras que Hiram despreció y llamó "Cabul" (pantanoso), hoy en día son las más visitadas mundialmente por el turismo religioso, porque fueron donde Jesús hizo el mayor número de milagros. Tal vez la situación que estás atravesando hoy, el conflicto, la opresión y la tensión, sean el lugar donde Dios manifestará su gloria y grandeza para las futuras generaciones, produciendo un cambio en tu vida. Cabul es la tierra de Galilea de los gentiles, esa tierra es Zabulón y Neftalí. Fueron las primeras en ser conquistadas y destruidas, pero Israel volverá a ser grande y lleno de gozo, como los segadores en el tiempo de la cosecha, como los hombres que se reparten el botín capturado. En hebreo, la palabra para yugo se utilizaba para describir dos tipos: uno de madera y otro de acero o hierro. El yugo de madera se ponía principalmente a los animales de carga, como los toros, alrededor de su cuello. Bíblicamente, un yugo simbolizaba la cautividad y la opresión, un evento, una circunstancia, una enfermedad o un problema que te ha estado oprimiendo. Entra por tu cabeza y se asienta en tu cuello, asfixiándote y oprimiéndote. Al estar pesado, el yugo te oprime y no solo te priva de libertad, sino que también acongoja tus emociones y espíritu interior. Las circunstancias y eventos han producido ese pesar en tu vida, corazón, espíritu y familia. Has vivido circunstancias de salud emocional, financiera, anímica, económica y moral que te han oprimido, ya sea por tu carnalidad, carácter o malas decisiones. Son dos cosas: la vara sobre su hombro y el cetro de su opresor. ¿Qué te ha golpeado? ¿Tu familia? El Profeta Isaías, menciona que como en el día de Madián, todo calzado será llevado en guerra y tumulto de batalla. Esto terminará como en el día de Madián, refiriéndose a Jueces capítulos 6 y 7, cuando Gedeón se levantó con un ejército y destruyó a Madián. Madián significa contienda, pleito, lucha. Isaías hace referencia a Jueces 6 y 7, donde los madianitas, una tribu descendiente de Abraham a través de Cetura, la segunda esposa de Abraham, oprimían a Israel. En Jueces capítulo 6, se dice que el pueblo madianita había empobrecido a Israel, provocando que se escondieran en cavernas. ¿Qué ha provocado en tu vida que te escondas en cavernas? Primero se escondían en cuevas y en lugares fuertes. La opresión de Madián hizo que Israel se escondiera en sus fortalezas, habilidades y capacidades. ¿Cuáles son tus habilidades y capacidades? ¿Cuáles son tus lugares fuertes? La palabra hebrea para cavernas es "lugares oscuros". A veces, nuestras habilidades y talentos se vuelven en nuestra contra, nos sentimos atados u oscurecidos en nuestras propias fortalezas. Madián hizo que Israel, en sus capacidades y talentos, se escondiera en lugares oscuros. ¿Te sientes escondido en un lugar oscuro, en tu capacidad y habilidad? ¿Te sientes aprisionado donde deberías tener la victoria? Así se sentía Israel por causa de Madián. Isaías capítulo 9 dice que tú quebrantaste su pesado yugo, la vara que los azotaba y el cetro de su opresor, como lo hiciste con Madián. Hace referencia a un evento pasado de libertad, donde en medio de una situación difícil, donde deberías tener victoria, te has sentido derrotado. Isaías capítulo 9, empieza a hablar de una libertad gloriosa, haciendo referencia a dos eventos importantes para el pueblo de Israel. Dice que se alegrarán como en el día de la cosecha. Es interesante que la Biblia muchas veces menciona la cosecha al hablar de bendición para Israel. El contexto es que Israel estaba ubicada en una zona desértica, sin agua y con climas extremos, donde la producción agrícola era escasa. La cosecha era vista como una bendición y provisión de Dios. Entonces, Isaías dice que la situación difícil y triste será cambiada y bendecida como en el tiempo de la cosecha, de la abundancia, cuando la escasez termina. Recuerda que Israel era un lugar árido donde no se producía nada. El Mar Muerto, llamado así porque no había vida en sus aguas saladas, ni siquiera se podía usar para beber. El agua escaseaba y los saqueadores, como los madianitas, robaban los frutos de la tierra. Para la mentalidad judía, la cosecha era un tiempo de provisión y bendición. Isaías dice que se alegrarán como se alegran en la cosecha. Esa situación difícil y angustiosa será cambiada como el día de la cosecha. Además, Isaías menciona que se alegrarán como cuando reparten los despojos después de una batalla tumultuosa. En la antigüedad, cuando un reino vencía a otro, no solo lo derrotaba, sino que lo despojaba de sus riquezas, tierras y propiedades, que luego se repartían entre el ejército. Los guerreros que luchaban y sufrían heridas, al final, vencían y recibían su recompensa. Ahora tiene una propiedad más, un terreno más, una casa más, una riqueza más. Ahora tiene oro. ¿Por qué? Porque al haber vencido, se repartieron despojos. Sí, fue una lucha difícil y un momento doloroso, pero no solo hay alegría por la cosecha y la provisión futura, sino también por la mayor riqueza. El nacimiento de este niño será Admirable, Consejero, Dios Fuerte, Padre Eterno, Príncipe de Paz. ¿Cómo puede un niño producir este cambio? La obra de Jesús está quebrantando tu pesado yugo. En ese tiempo de oscuridad, los que moraban en sombra de muerte vieron luz resplandecer. Isaías capítulo 60 dice: "Levántate y resplandece porque ha venido tu luz, y la gloria de Jehová ha nacido sobre ti." Le dice que se levante porque estaba tirado, acongojado, cautivo, oprimido y dolorido. "Levántate y resplandece; ha venido tu luz y la gloria de Jehová ha nacido sobre ti. Tinieblas cubrirán la tierra y oscuridad las naciones, mas sobre ti amanecerá Jehová y su gloria será vista sobre ti. Las naciones andarán a tu luz y los reyes al resplandor de tu nacimiento. Alza tus ojos y mira: todos se han juntado y vinieron a ti. Tus hijos vendrán de lejos y tus hijas serán llevadas en brazos. Entonces verás y resplandecerás; se maravillará y ensanchará tu corazón porque se ha vuelto a ti la multitud del mar y la riqueza de las naciones." ¿Qué necesitas hacer? Levantarte. El yugo ha sido quebrantado. La obra de Jesucristo es perfecta y necesitamos levantarnos. “La multitud de camellos te cubrirán, dromedarios de Madián y de Efa. ¿Por qué vuelve a mencionar a Madián? Porque la riqueza de aquellos que te oprimieron, robaron y empobrecieron vendrá a ti” Isaías 50, menciona que serás liberada como en Madián, Jueces capítulo 6, y esas mismas regiones o situaciones del pasado producirán riquezas en tu vida. “La multitud de camellos te cubrirá, dromedarios de Madián y Efa. Todos los de Saba vendrán con oro e incienso y publicarán alabanzas de Jehová. Todo el ganado de Cedar será juntado para ti, y los carneros de Nabat te serán servidores. Serán ofrecidos con agrado sobre mi altar, y glorificaré la casa de mi gloria. ¿Quiénes son esos que vuelven como nubes y como palomas a sus ventanas?  "All seed oils are toxic."Welcome to another episode of the Pain and Performance Podcast. In this episode, I invited Brian Peskin. He discusses the controversy surrounding his views on essential fatty acids (EFAs) and the misconceptions about omega-6 plant seed oils and fish oil. The Torah in Parashat Emor introduces the Misva of the Korban Ha'omer – the special sacrifice which was offered on the 16 th of Nissan, the second day of Pesach. This sacrifice included the offering of an “Omer” of the new barley harvest, the first of the freshly-grown spring produce, and it is forbidden to partake of the season's yield before this sacrifice is offered. This sacrifice was given the name “Korban Ha'omer” – “the Omer sacrifice,” referring to the Omer – a measurement – of new grain that was offered. The Torah then commands that we count forty-nine days from the day this sacrifice is offered, a Misva which is of course known as “Sefirat Ha'omer” – “the counting of the Omer.” We must understand why the word “Omer” features so prominently in the context of these Misvot. The word “Omer” refers to a certain measurement of flour, specifically, one-tenth of an “Efa.” Why would this measurement be so significant, that this became the name of the sacrifice? Moreover, throughout the Humash, the Torah uses the term “Isaron” – “one-tenth” – in reference to this measurement, for, as mentioned, it equals one-tenth of an Efa. But when it comes to the Korban Ha'omer, the word “Omer” is used. Why? We must also understand why we refer to the nightly counting as “Sefirat Ha'omer.” Why is the “Omer” of barley offered on the 16 th of Nissan our point of focus when we count the days from Pesach to Shabuot? The answer, as developed by Rav Yosef Salant (Jerusalem, 1885-1981) in his Be'er Yosef, emerges from the comments of the Zohar here in Parashat Emor regarding the Omer sacrifice. The Zohar draws a connection between this offering and the first time the word “Omer” appears in the Torah – in the context of the manna, the heavenly food which Hashem fed Beneh Yisrael in the desert. We read in Parashat Beshalah (Shemot 16:16) that an Omer of manna was provided for each member of the nation, each day. The Zohar states that G-d commanded Beneh Yisrael to offer an Omer of grain as though they give back the Omer of manna they received in the desert. The purpose of this sacrifice is to recall and express gratitude for the manna which our ancestors received for forty years in the desert. Rav Salant explains that during the years of travel in the desert, Beneh Yisrael lived a supernatural existence, sustained miraculously by G-d. It was perfectly clear to them that their sustenance depended solely on G-d's grace and kindness. But once Beneh Yisrael entered the Land of Israel, the manna stopped falling, and they needed to till the land to produce food and sustain themselves. As they would be producing food themselves, rather than receiving food directly from the heavens, the people might lose sight of the fact that Hashem provides them with their sustenance. They might come to think that their success depends solely on their hard work and effort. They would then focus their time and energy exclusively on their farming, and neglect spirituality, studying Torah and performing Misvot. Mistakenly thinking that their hard work alone determines the success of their endeavors, they would not make any time for Hashem, for Torah and Misvot. Therefore, Rav Salant explains, the Torah commands that none of the new grain may be eaten before an Omer of new grain – symbolizing the manna – is offered on the altar. Just as an Omer of manna descended from the heavens to the earth each morning, Beneh Yisrael offer the first Omer of the food produced from the earth to Hashem, as though sending it to the heavens. They express their awareness of the fact that the food they produce, too, is like manna, as it – no less than the manna – came from the heavens, as a blessing from Hashem. Even when we work hard and exert effort to earn a livelihood, we must recognize and firmly believe that the sustenance we receive, our income, everything we have, is a blessing granted to us from Hashem. This is why we count “Sefirat Ha'omer” every night until Shabuot. Each night, when we count the Omer, we remind ourselves of the Omer sacrifice – and thus remember that everything we have is “manna” which Hashem sends us from the heavens. This is how we prepare for the holiday of Shabuot, when we celebrate our receiving the Torah. For forty-nine days, we are reminded that it is Hashem who sends us our livelihood – and this assures us that we can and must take time away from our material pursuits for the sake of Torah learning. As ultimately it is the Almighty, and not our efforts, that bring us our livelihood, we will not lose at all – and will, in fact, only gain – by devoting time each day for the service of Hashem, for the study of His Torah. We then begin Shabuot with renewed faith in Hashem's provision of all our needs – which will lead to a renewed commitment to strike the necessary balance between the work we need to invest in securing a livelihood, and our faith that it is Hashem who grants us our livelihood.
