On this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the hosts kick things off by sharing their experience at the Texas State Fair. Held annually in Dallas at the historic Fair Park, the State Fair of Texas has been a beloved tradition since 1886, with only a few interruptions during World War I, World War II, and in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fair typically runs from the last Friday in September for 24 days. Kyle then shares a story about his recent outing to the movies with his youngest son, Luke, to see the gruesome Terrifier 3. Next, they dive into some intriguing news stories. An outdoorsman and mushroom forager spots a small, bipedal humanoid wandering through the woods—something far from a typical forest animal. Then, they explore a chilling encounter in the mountains near Gatlinburg, TN, where a couple comes face-to-face with a human-sized creature that shapeshifts into a smaller entity. Later, two women driving near Hillsboro, Ohio, witness a strange, pitch-black quadruped with eerie white eyes emerging from the tall grass. After the break, a hiker in Wisconsin believes they may have encountered a "Glimmer Man" while walking on a park trail. Finally, a grandfather recounts a childhood memory of encountering several "ape-men" while panning for gold with his family near Elliot Lake, Ontario. All of this and more on this episode of Expanded Perspectives! NickelX (ASX: NKL) managing director Matt Gauci joins Small Caps to discuss the company's early success with its foray into Canada's rich uranium mining sector. The company recently announced it had identified significant uranium mineralisation at its new Elliot Lake project in Ontario. NickelX's exploration team has identified three priority target areas with a first pass geological review. Two of the areas have been historically proven to contain mineralisation over a combined 35 km strike of prospective tenure. NickelX staked areas covering 4 highly prospective uranium targets at Elliot Lake in mid-February. The new project lies in the Elliot Lake Uranium district which historically produced around 360 million pounds of uranium from 13 underground mines. Back in WA, NickelX recently commenced an RC drilling program at the Dalwallinu nickel project. If you've ever wondered how the crags and boulders we love came to be then give this episode a listen. We talk to Brendan Baars about crossing the border (He's American), finding and developing a new boulder wonderland near Elliot Lake, Ontario. From seeing the Eyeball cliff online to visiting with Gus Alexandropoulus, Brendan realized the area must hold more possibilities so he started exploring. After many forays that came up empty, he came across an area that he called the Goldmine. Only a 2-5-minute approach from the road, he discovered a multitude of boulders hidden in the forest. But when it comes to creating a climbing area, finding the rock is only the beginning. From cleaning moss, dirt, and loose rock from the boulders to cutting trails so you can access them it takes a lot of work. Once you've cleaned the rock you then have to see if it is even climbable. We had a great chat with Brendan about his climbing journey and how this crag came into existence. Today there's 150+ routes ranging from V0-V13. Go there and climb yourself! Check out the The Nooks Video about the area. Details are on Sendage Community and Mountain Project. **A guidebook is also available for purchase - https://ontarioclimbing.com/Guidebooks/the-nooks-bouldering GIVEAWAY! Country artist MIKE TRUDELL is preparing to make his mark on the country music scene with a new album, new stage show, along with a renewed passion enthusiasm. Born in Elliot Lake, Ontario, this Northern singer/songwriter is no stranger to the Canadian country music scene having started his musical journey as a lead guitarist for Juno-nominated artist John Landry. A gig backing up country superstar George Canyon prompted the singer to ask Mike if he was doing this full time. Mike said no, he was not sure if this was the life for him. “I was thinking of making EMS my life’s work because I like helping others in need. I got that from my Mom who passed away at a very young age. No matter how sick she was she always had time to help someone in need.” Growing up, Mike was surrounded by music. He played the piano, his brother played the guitar while family members sang and danced. He was also exposed to his parents' choice of tunes. "They always had a Buck Owens eight-track tape in the old Chevy," explains Mike. “I starting listening to country songs when I realized they were full of great guitar licks and lyrics that told stories. I was hooked.” In a great display of discipline, Mike backed away from opportunities thrown his way to determine a musical career path with proper direction and planning. He realized he needed a team around him with a product that he was proud of and could support with live performances. Enter Canadian songwriter and producer Gil Grand. Gil helped Mike pick the tunes for his new album (Gil wrote a couple of them too) and produced the project. The first single called Do Ya Wanna is a radio friendly song that is sure to give Mike Trudell a solid shot at country radio. You will wanna add his album to your music collection!

In July 2009, Deconstructing Dinner aired a one-hour feature on the now in-process closure of Canada's prison farm system. That episode came only months after it was discovered in February 2009 that Corrections Service Canada alongside Public Safety Canada had already planned the closure of the 150-year old program. With six farms having been operated in New Brunswick, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, the discovery of the news sparked an ongoing and active campaign of opposition seeking to halt the closures. On this part II of our coverage we listen to audio from the February 1, 2010 democratic dialogue hosted in Steinbach, Manitoba where Members of Parliament were invited to debate the prison farm closures. The event was strategically hosted in the political riding of the recently appointed Minister of Public Safety, Vic Toews. The episode also examines a rather feisty exchange within Canada's Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food. On November 17, 2009, Liberal Member of Parliament Wayne Easter tabled a motion requesting that the Committee explore the closure of the prison farm system. Voices Wayne Easter member of parliament, Malpeque, Liberal Party of Canada (North Wiltshire, PEI) - Wayne was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and was raised on the family farm in North Wiltshire. In Parliament, Wayne has served as Solicitor General of Canada, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries and Oceans, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and Agri-Food with special responsibilities for the Rural Secretariat, and is currently the Liberal Party's Opposition Critic on Agriculture and Agri-Food. Wayne was National President and CEO of the National Farmers Union for 11 years. James Bezan member of parliament, Selkirk-Interlake, Conservative Party of Canada (Teulon, MB) - In 2004, James was elected to the Canadian House of Commons as a Conservative MP. Bezan worked in the livestock and cattle industries in the 1980s and 1990s, and started his own company in 1996. He served as Chief Executive Officer of the Manitoba Cattle Producer's Association and has sat on numerous boards in the fields of cattle and food production.
