Episode Topic: Theology, Space, and ContemplationAfter serving as a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Grand Rapids, Michigan for nearly ten years – doing parish ministry, criminal justice work, social justice advocacy, and speaking and publishing – William (Bill) Wittland, a 2022-23 fellow with Notre Dame's Inspired Leadership Initiative, transitioned to a career in business marketing communications. Beginning as an agency copywriter, he eventually became a senior leader and partner at a succession of agencies serving North American and global clients. Covering topics ranging from the impressive work ethic of his undergraduate classmates, to the keen observations he's made about the places and social situations where college students choose to study, Bill offers his surprising insights about work, culture, and the future of office design. As always, the hosts even trick Bill into thinking aloud about some of their favorite topics: religion and theology, the philosophy of Aristotle, and emerging (and reemerging) technologies.Featured Speakers:Paul Blaschko, Ph.D., assistant teaching professor at the University of Notre DameMegan Levis, Ph.D., assistant professor of the practice with Notre Dame's Center for Social Concerns and with the College of EngineeringWalter Scheirer, Ph.D., the Dennis O. During the pandemic, the MCO was the hardest on women, especially working mothers. The lockdown saw the lines of their lives collapsing, as they took on the lion's share of domestic work, including their children's care and schooling, while juggling work responsibilities at home. Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki, who was the CEO of Selangor Women's Empowerment Institute at the time, recognised the turmoil that her female employees were going through, and knew that their mental wellbeing began with her. The entrepreneur and artist-turned-community-leader shares the story of her personal and leadership mental health journey on this episode of ‘Because Feelings Matter'.‘Because Feelings Matter' is a series that brings you the stories of people and their mental health issues. These stories aim to normalise conversations about mental health, and to show that it's okay to struggle emotionally and psychologically, but more importantly, to reach out for help. What is Conscious Enterprise and Social Change? Gino Pastori-Ng writes, “Tranforming the global, exploitation-based economy into an equitable and life-affirming system for collective well-being is the greatest challenge humanity has ever faced. We can map every current societal problem to our economic model, which treats life itself as a commodity.” Rinaldo Brutoco and David Gershon, co-authors of Our Moment of Choice, join Dr. Julie to talk about the core principles of social change and re-inventing business and the planet for the good of the whole.

Over the past four decades the initiatives he's designed have won many awards and achieved much recognition. David has dedicated his life to empowering humanity to believe we can create the world of our dreams and designing the strategies and tools to help us make this a reality. He is putting this aspiration and second order knowledge into action through a bold plan to change the world called: “Reinventing the Planet.” --- this is one of those conversations that you just have to listen to. it was unique not only in the conversation we had but in the ability and flexibility of David, a brilliant man to be kind and generous enough to change direction midstream with me and move away from what most if not everyone wants him to share, to answer my quirky questions and to challenge his own edges. let me prepare you, David is not like most people. the world he sees is different from the world most of us see, because he asks different questions. for instance, instead of asking what wrong with the world and how can we fix it? he simply asks, “what is possible?” it is amazing to see how the questions we ask give us the answers we follow. try asking new and different questions. David invites people to grow beyond the edges and watch what happens when i ask David what is beyond the edge of his own growth right now? i highly encourage you to visit his websites and spend some time there getting to know David and the amazing innovations he is creating with the people who associate with him . . to find out more about David please go to: reinventing.earth peace2030.earth https://www.empowermentinstitute.net #AgendalessConversation #TheMosaic #TheMosaicPodcast #50ConversationsWith50Strangers #DanielBruceLevin #DavidGershon #Listen #SeeMe #ReinventingEarth #peace2030 #EmpowermentInstitute #GrowBeyondTheEdges to learn more about Daniel B. This week on Relationships 2.0 my guest is Gail Straub author of The Ashokan Way: Landscape’s Path into Consciousness About the book: The natural world has the power to awaken, restore, and transform us, and nowhere are these capacities more evident than in the thirty-six luminous essays that make up The Ashokan Way. Written in the form of journal entries that take place over the course of a year, the essays explore both the outer landscapes of the awe-inspiring Ashokan Reservoir, a vast open space surrounded by the ancient bluestone peaks of the Catskill Mountain Watershed, and the equally awe-inspiring inner landscapes of our own most personal terrains. Each of the book’s evocative entries describes a walk along the ever-changing reservoir, illuminating the natural world as a portal to self-understanding, restoration, and meaning. Some walks take us deep inside to trek the hills and valleys of our aspirations and sorrows, our joys and confusions. Others offer a profound antidote to an interior landscape that has become crowded with distraction and overstimulation. Still others seem to seem usher us into the realm of the mystical. As surely as we would perish without the water and air that the earth provides, we are at risk of perishing without the spiritual sustenance that the natural world provides through its ability to stir and astonish us. In a world that is ever faster, noisier, and busier, The Ashokan Way is a balm, an inspiration, and an invitation to discover greater intimacy with inner and outer landscapes alike. About the author: Gail Straub is the Executive Director of the Empowerment Institute, which she co-founded in 1981. As one of the world’s leading authorities on women’s empowerment, she co-directs the Empowerment Institute’s School for Transformative Social Change empowering change agents from around the world to design and implement cutting-edge social innovations. As part of this focus, she co-founded IMAGINE: A Global Initiative for the Empowerment of Women to help women heal from violence, build strong lives, and contribute to their community. IMAGINE initiatives are currently under way throughout Africa, Afghanistan, India, and the Middle East. Gail has consulted to many organizations furthering women’s empowerment including the Chinese Women’s Federation, Women for Women International, World Pulse, and the Omega Women’s Leadership Center. Gail is the author of five books including, with her husband David Gershon, the best-selling Empowerment: The Art of Creating Your Life As You Want It which has been translated into over 14 languages, the critically acclaimed The Rhythm of Compassion, and the award-winning feminist memoir Returning to My Mother’s House. She lives in the Hudson River Valley in New York.
In this episode I simply introduce our company’s beliefs to everyone.
“Quoting the ancient I Ching, [Gail] writes about “coming to rest in motion.” She should know: a world traveler and social activist, Gail brings the steady calm she finds in the mountains to her work at peacemaking in a troubled world. ” - Elizabeth Lesser cofounder Omega Institute I feel like an absurd lover torn between two beloveds. But rather than being drawn to different people, I’m torn between landscapes. My primary loves are the lakes and trees of Minnesota, but I have also deeply fallen for the desert mountains and mesas of New Mexico. And still if I drift into memories, I recall other landscapes that pierced my heart. When it comes to landscapes, Gail Straub is my people. Gail Straub is the author of The Ashokan Way: Landscape's Path into Consciousness. In the book and in our conversation Gail shares her wisdom on the dance of landscape and consciousness, her friendship with poet-philosopher (and one of my personal heroes) John O’Donohue, the role the Ashokan reservoir has played in her social activism, and her growth into a wisdom elder. The contemplative gift of The Ashokan Way is that Gail is a generative model of how to attune to a practice that requires focused and embodied attention to develop an intimacy with something larger than yourself. Gail Straub, co-founder and Executive Director of Empowerment Institute, is one of the world’s leading authorities on women’s empowerment. As part of this focus, she co-founded IMAGINE: A Global Initiative for the Empowerment of Women to help women heal from violence, build strong lives, and contribute to their community. This initiative applies the Institute’s empowerment methodology to the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goal “to promote gender equality and empower women.” IMAGINE initiatives are under way in Afghanistan, Brazil, India, Jordan, Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan and South Africa. These are just some of Gail’s accolades. I am not going to list them all because after this conversation you should head over to her website, empowermentinstitute.net to learn more and possibly support her work.
This week, on The Conscious Consultant Hour, Sam welcomes Mastermind Council Facilitator, Leadership Coach, Sound Therapist, and Founder of The Medicine Tree, Lev Natan. Lev Natan utilizes sound meditation practices to create a fertile environment for his clients to access their deeper intelligence and creative imagination to effectively navigate life, relationships, career, and health in these turbulent times of accelerated complexity. He works with Change Makers – socially & ecologically conscious organizational leaders, entrepreneurs & business owners, holistic practitioners, activists, and anyone who cares deeply about humanity and the earth and is committed to creating more effective, meaningful and balanced ways of bringing their mission to life. He is committed to guiding our world towards a future that is wise, courageous, and aligned with principles and values that are humane, have integrity, and hold life and nature as sacred. Lev is the author of the forthcoming book Leading Like Trees in an Old-Growth Forest: A Personal Call to Establish a Network of Bioregional Mastermind Councils for Change Makers; he is certified as an Integrative Sound and Music Practitioner through The New York Open Center's Sound & Music Institute and an Empowerment Life Coach through the Empowerment Institute. Segment 1: Quotes of the Day : The Universe quote is explaining that: All the effort we put forward, even when it doesn't feel like it, it really is working in the background. Do not give up hope. Just because their is nothing on the surface, that doesn't mean their isn't anything growing underneath. Abraham's quote is explaining that: People love to complain, gossip and talk about not so good things. That does not do us any good. Describing in detail unhappy experiences, only makes us feel worse. Segment 2: Lev Natan: How does one become a sound therapist?: It's all really fundamental and leadership. Lev has powerful memories of growing up in a Jewish house hold and going to services on Saturday mornings. He could feel the power of the sound of the music. Jazz was also a huge thing that contributed to it. There was always jazz playing in the house. Lev was a huge fan of improvisation and going “off of the page”. At an early age, he was reading books about black culture, because of his love for Jazz. One thing led to the next and he started using sound to connect with that natural power within us to be grateful and take good care of what we have. Segment 3: What is the mission for the medicine tree? : The mission is to grow an alliance of change makers who are committed to putting awareness into action and changing the future. They work in councils, having monthly sacred conversations, and whoever wants to engage more, there are councils once a week. Lev has been running these councils for about seven years now. What is your vision and how does that connect to making a change? Lev says: “The way we engage on social media, does not feel right. I want to offer something different. ” How has it helped Lev as a person: It kept him plugged in to not just hope but also belief that we can create a viable future together. Segment 4: Seasonal retreats starting in the fall: If you're interested in traveling Lev would to have anyone for the retreat and the alliance. Go to Medicinetree.com and sign up for the email list. Old growth trees reforesting our planet inspired Lev as a metaphor for leadership. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-conscious-consultant-hour8505/donations

The world is not the enemy’s territory. It all belongs to God. And in spite of the increasingly shrill demands that Christians keep their faith to themselves and out of public arenas, God has a different plan. The “church” doesn’t need to send people into “the marketplace”. We’re already there. We simply need to realize what we’re called to do and who we’re called to be. This is the thrust of “Kingdom in the Streets-Part 2”, the fourth podcast episode in the Marketplace Kingdom series from the Empowerment Institute and OneRockStrategix. This may be the most important podcast we’ve released to date, and you can listen online or download it today.
