Bold Sports Episode 97 A week Off due to Vacation Steelers- Cam Hayward, Kendrell Bell, Ray Seals Pirates- Joe Beimel NFL- Simeon Rice. NHL- Jeremy Roenick Riverhounds- the Hounds went to Nashville Saturday night and came away with a 0-0 draw. But with that draw, the Hounds locked up a Playoff spot. now, the Hounds had Memphis 901 tonight on the road and that ended ?? . the hounds are now needing their next 6 matches for collecting points for seeding purposes and chances at a Home Playoff Game. PGA Tour— in the Young 19-20 season, this is the Third Tournament coming upon. And the only way to watch is on Golf Network really. The Greenbrier , Sanderson Farms open and this weekend is the Safeway Open at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa Valley . The players and times haven’t been released yet, but don’t expect a ton of big names. Pirates- thank god that there is only 6 games left and we can stop watching the train wreck that is the Bucs.. Complete disgusting news about Felipe Vazquez. Should have traded when had the chance but that is hind-site for ya. I believe that the whole damn organization needs blown up, but you have to start at the top, but I don’t see that happening . MLB- Yanks, Twins, Stroes, Indians, WC, with Rays and A’s Battling for the second WC. For the AL, As for the NL, Braves, Cards, and Dodgers, with Brewers and Cubs WC but the Nets still in the hunt. The Bucs can play spoiler maybe. Penguins- the Pens are 1-3 in the Preseason so far with 2 games left, one with the Wings and One with the Sabers both at home. Then the regular season starts October 3 rd with the Sabers at home. Coach Sully praises this years team and is very optimistic. We will do some more digging and have a better breakdown next week. NCAA Football- Pitt- Played PSU 2 Saturdays ago, Put up one hell of a game, the Panthers came to play. One bad coaching call of a Field Goal that was Missed on the goal line with 5 mins to play. Then Pitt got the ball back and moved downfield with 2 mins left to play and stalled out with 3 plays to the end zone from the 25 . Then this past Saturday , Pitt went up big on UCF in the first, and continuing the second . Then gave up 31 unanswered points in second half. Pitt, then had to come back with their final drive and called the “Pitt Special “ trick play with Pickett receiving the TD after a handoff reverse. The week the Blue Hens of Delaware come to Heinz Field. PSU- Took the win over Pitt two weeks ago and then had a buy week this past weekend and get ready to travel to College Park to take on the Terps of Maryland. WVU- After a big loss to Mizzu, Wvu had a big win over NC State, and this past weekend a nice win over Kansas . This week the Eers have a Buy and then Texas Longhorns headed into Morgantown. ND- after a huge win over New Mexico, Nd went to Athens and took on the Dawgs. The game was solid, and back n fourth with the Dawgs coming away with the win 23-17. The Irish have Virginia coming into South Bend this week. Top 25 NFL- AB played one game with the Pats, went the whole week of practice, then he gets cut on Friday. With him getting cut before Monday , his Bonus of 5 mill was due that he will not receive . Guess you shouldn’t send threatening texts and then leak them yourself to the media. Saquon Barkley is out 4-8 weeks with a High Ankle Sprain, Brees is out 6 weeks with a thumb, Nick Foles we touched on las show is out probably for the season , his back up Gardner Minshew is the toast of the town currently with his stash and cutoff Jorts. Michael Crabtree was released by Arizona and is now available to be picked up. Steelers- well, Big Ben is out for the season, first time in his career he had a season ending injury this early. He had surgery on his elbow, not Tommy John. The Seattle game when Ben was injured ended 28-26 with Mason Rudolf the one mounting the Comeback but falling short as the Defense breaking down. This past week the Steelers went to San Fran and the Defense did its job forcing 5 turnovers, but only transpired in 6 points as the Offense couldn’t get anything going. Then in the second half, the niners pulled ahead and the Steelers D let them march down the field as the D broke down, probably because they were on the field an awful lot, James Conners Fumble that let the Niners have the ball for the winning score. Minkah Fitzpatrick who we traded our first round pick next year for had a Pick, FF and 9 tackles. The trade made lots of people question life, but I think it will turn out for the better. Pitt Womens Volleyball ranked #4 in the nation and took a Home N Home from PSU.
A Geddis free episode (Almost) Tyler has to get his alcohol takes in real quick before we start the show. The HOUSTON ASTROS. Back 2 Back champs? A stupid co-host may think that. Either way, can this team be stopped? We dive into the other playoff teams and talk about what team may have the best shot. Speaking of the Astros - who wins this year's Cy Young Award? It is clearly down to just 2 people. Does the award belong to Gerrit Cole or Justin Verlander?Since we are in a bad mood talking about Gerrit Cole, Charlie Morton, Tyler Glasnow, and Austin Meadows, it's time to discuss the horrific news about Felipe Vazquez.Lastly, Geddis couldn't make the show because he was at the Jaguars game, but he made sure his presence was known. He left us with a video to play as he has some major things to get off his chest surrounding the Jaylen Ramsey situation. Afterwards, Tyler & DiNardo discuss how this mentality plays into baseball and all sports.

This week, the thing Nick, Jordan, and Bill love about baseball is second half stars! This is a serious one, y'all! We talk a lot about Felipe Vazquez, Domingo German, and Joe Torre sputtering moronic, incoherent banalities about why MLB wouldn't let the Mets honor 9/11 first responders - banalities that turn out, we decide, to be cynical in a deeply depressing way.Eventually we climb our way out of the darkness and have some fun: Amir Garrett sprinting away from Kyle Schwarber - our Beef of the Week - the end of September roster expansion, and Ronald Acuña approaching the 40-40 club - not the Jay-Z one. But we're not going to pretend all this bad stuff didn't happen. So it's a serious show! Our other baseball podcast is The Lead from The Athletic and Wondery! (Because it's a co-production, it's the rare Athletic podcast that is not behind a paywall.) It's a general sports podcast hosted by Anders Kelto and Kavitha A. Davidson, who Nick went to high school with! Well we answer that for you, though it may not be as glorious of an answer as it was in 2015.Also, we thank everyone again for their contribution to the NS9 Pirates Charities Backpack Raffle where we collected $2,250 and were able to raffle off 9 backpacks. We also talk about the revamping of our Patreon where you can help support us while getting some pretty cool things in return.Onto more baseball...The Pirates hammered the Brewers & Cubs this past week and have played very well since June and this rough stretch vs teams above .500 (and likely with higher run differentials and Ivan Nova's pitching for them). What does this mean for the club and should they be buyers or sellers if the trade deadline were today?Josh Bell and Felipe Vazquez will be heading to Cleveland to partake in the All Star game, while Josh Bell will also be part of the Home Run Derby. Ryan & DiNardo give their predictions on the event. Francisco Cervelli has announced that he will no longer play catcher in his MLB career. As we all know the person comes before the player (and this is a very wise move for Cervelli's health concerns) what does this mean for the Pirates? Where is Cervelli's place on this team going forward and what does it mean to the current players on the 25 man right now?Are the Wolves of Federal Street back? The bullpen has been pitching better lately, but we aren't certain it's at the level we all expected them to be at. Who has surprisingly been much better lately? Worse? We will tell you what we can likely expect from this unit going forward and if there is any more help on the way.If you feel generous enough, you can check out our Patreon below:www.patreon.com/northshorenineMakes sure to check us out on twitch for NS9LIVE Thursdays at 10PMwww.twitch.tv/northshorenineAlso, check out our website for all of the podcasts, live streams, merchandise, free graphics & phone wallpapers, & more:www.northshorenine.com
So much for out Gerrit Cole predictions! We break down this week in Pirates baseball as Pittsburgh came out and put a whooping on the Astros but failed to capitalize on the Brewers. Both DiNardo & Ryan thought Cole would pitch very well, but in turn he looked very Vintage Piratey Cole. Also, what got into Clint Hurdle Friday night pitching Vazquez in the 8th inning of a tied ball game?Josh Bell ends up making the All Star game after all and is the lone Pirate participant. Are we surprised? Do we even truly care? The Pirates have announced that they will be putting up netting extending out to the foul poles. Find out why this is not a horrible thing and all of you who bash the millennials need to chill.Lastly, we bring on friend of the show and Pittsburgh's favorite L.A. reporter - Michael J. Duarte, for some Felipe Vazquez trade talk. Find out why he may just still be in Pittsburgh after all.....or will he?
The Pirates blow another lead at home and Clint Hurdle is to blame, says Stan Savran. Why not refer to Felipe Vazquez in the 8th for a one-out save? Also, Starling Marte will never be the leader Pirates fans hope for him to be. And what to watch for in Rookie Mini Camp this weekend on the South Side.

Cole Tucker SZN! The Pirates front office does something out of the ordinary in brining up Cole Tucker and Bryan Reynolds and it is already paying off. Ryan & DiNardo talk about this decision, what it means for now and the potential future, and why Tucker may never see the minor leagues again. The Pirates are off to a great start as they currently lead the NL Central but have been doing it with a very weak lineup that's showing a lot of JB Shuck and Pablo Reyes. Why this is actually something to be optimistic about going forward. The Pirates rotation has been stellar so far and we break down why these guys are having this success, if it's sustainable (to the degree of the entire staff staying good - not best ever), and why a certain 'Ace' can actually even improve. We also give props to a Felipe Vazquez who may be making a national case of being the best reliever that is out there.
Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez goes hard at anything he does. For example, his role as team DJ goes well beyond just plugging his phone into a speaker. His sister abides by the same mentality as her brother's agent. Scott and Kelly also ask him all about what it was like to be in the first major benches-clearing scuffle of the season.
