Brown Game Strong
Siddharth Sharma, founder of House On The Clouds: I have always been a dreamer

To kick off our BGS Mumbai series, introducing someone whose work you have seen before you've met him. Siddharth Sharma is the founder of House On The Clouds, the iconic editorial wedding photography and filmography team behind the stunning soft photos under the sun you saw from Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's intimate wedding at their home. Rejecting the term ‘celebrity weddings', he chooses instead to call them ‘artist weddings', detailing the intricacies around catering to the requirements of couples who have a keen eye for the small moments, like a camera shutter clicking during a groom's speech, or the clinking of bangles as the bride walks up the aisle on her big day. Siddharth was never a traditionally flamboyant or charismatic character. Whilst he started his career in engineering, he quotes ‘as a kid I always wanted to make films'. His charm is in his self proclaimed ‘introverted' and slightly ‘awkward' nature. Sometimes the quieter souls are the ones who see the world in the most colourful way.

Today we have a super fun episode! We're going to be talking about how people from different generations view volunteerism, zoning in on Gen Z. Suzetta Cannon volunteered at her first three-day, 50 mile walk two weeks before she was born. That's because her mom, Teri Cannon, has been planning nonprofit fundraising events for three decades and Suzetta was born into volunteering.Teri Cannon has a wealth of experience with volunteers as she currently works as the Senior Major Gifts Officer for Children's Hospital, she was previously the Executive Director for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and before that a VP with the National MS Society. Both women talk about how they see volunteerism differently, and the same.

Dana Fischer, little Nissa cosplayer and GP grinder, is barely big enough to the hold the cards, but she knows how to cast them. She’s beaten many opponents playing Elves. Nathan Steuer, competes at almost every tournament he can. A member of Team Versus Games from the San Francisco bay area, he’s ready to chew up anyone that stands in his way. Ethan Brown, a wiz kid from Portland stunned the coverage team when he made it to the finals of GP LA piloting Modern Affinity. Armed with a fierce knowledge of the metagame, he is eager to return to the Pro Tour. Miley Chen, this young spellslinger from Boston enjoys EDH, draft, and most importantly griefing her dad, Mainn. They practice drafts together often so I won’t be surprised if I see Miley at the Pro Tour soon. Leo Strober-Cohen, hails from Magic’s home town of Seattle. He’s excited to brew up decks and experiment in the game of Magic. He cares about making Magic more accessible in cost to all players that love the game. Quinn Kiefer, proud member of the Kiefer Brothers trio, Quinn has battled with the biggest names in Magic. Quinn is attending his first Pro Tour later this year at Pro Tour 25th Anniversary. All of these rising stars are eager to compete at the Pro Tour and one day see themselves in the Hall of Fame. In this episode, I’m talking to local Seattle Magic player, Daniel Duterte. Daniel defended this house by winning the Legacy portion of GP Seattle 2018. Such is the dream, show up to your hometown GP, and win the whole thing. Daniel defeated some major pros during the 15 rounds of swiss and 3 rounds of single elimination Top 8, including Brian Braun-Duin and Sam Black. Daniel scooped to his friend in round 15, but other than that, he technically went undefeated throughout his entire run during the Legacy GP. That’s quite historic considering shortly after during the Standard GP, Chinese player Gan Yan also went undefeated with a staggering 18-0 to claim the Standard trophy. Wow, the hometown of Magic, Seattle, does not mess around. Back to back undefeated winners in the double GP in Seattle. I’m so happy to share my interview with the Seattle hometown hero, Daniel Duterte. In this episode, I’m talking to the pioneer of Magic streaming coverage, Rashad Miller. In 2009, Rashad set up a computer and pointed a 480p video stream at a pair of Magic players battling it out in a PTQ. The quality wasn’t great, you couldn’t really see the cards, and audio was dodgy, but it marked the beginning of a journey that would change the way how Magic gets broadcasted. After that, Rashad went on attend every Grand Prix he could, broadcasting matches of Magic across the internet. Eventually, Star City Games and then Wizards of the Coast picked up Rashad to produce Magic coverage as we see it today. If you’re going to GP Seattle in April, I’m sure Daniel will be there. (And so will I, come by and say hi) Go say hi to him. He’s super friendly and knows a lot about Legacy. TJ believes that live streaming matches with players on the internet builds community because it’s a way for more people to feel like they’re at the game store playing magic. Jay Schneider Of Red Deck Wins And The Mana Curve - Ep 310

I’m talking to legendary player, Jay Schneider, the creator of the first Burn Deck, popularly known as Paul Sligh Red. Jay created Sligh Red because it was play tested to beat his good friend Paul Sligh, who ironically was an avid blue player. In doing so, Jay created the concept of the Mana Curve, which is now a foundation of how Magic is played and decks are built. Jay also worked for Wizards R&D where he helped play test paper products and had a big role in developing the hugely successful Duels of the Planeswalker game for Xbox. I’m amazed to hear of Jay’s contributions to Duels of the Planeswalkers as it was a milestone for Wizards of the Coast in their journey to create a widely adopted digital game. And now that Magic Arena has been announced I hope to see some design elements from Duels. If you want to read up more from Jay, I’ve included links at KitchenTableMagic.org to his past articles about the original Paul Sligh Red deck. Buckle up! This week we look at an early 19th century military buckle from the Cabrits on Dominica, AKA the Gibraltar of the Caribbean, the Unfortunate Garrison or the Black Garrison. Why was this fortress known by the latter name? And why was an ornament of the West India Regiment left in a wattle and daub structure in the vicinity of this mighty fortress, together with a needle, glass bottles, French crockery and some other assorted finds? Fortunately, Alice and Angus are joined by Zachary Beier who found this object and the answers to our questions. Want to learn something about the surprising military and social history this object was witness to? Listen to this week's episode of A History of the Caribbean in 100 Objects! P.S. A HotC in 100 Objects will be moving to a bi-weekly release schedule for the summer months. We are planning to be back with a weekly release schedule in September.

Bill explains the two week absence of the show before welcoming Effie back into the 2nd Chair. Effie accuses Bill of hating any music made afer 1994 when Bill talks about the 2014 Grammys. Bill plays a little Lorde (oh Lord!) performance and a few minutes of a Cyrus cover song by one of America's most beloved hedgehogs. Gutter Monk wants to know if the actions of the artist taints the art itself. A new caller makes Bill open up about his dislike of anime and JRPGs. Bill gets a semi-disturbing voicemail from a caller he never expected to hear from on the show. Gutter Monk shows us where the media went wrong when the real "news" is halted for some unmentionable un-"news". Bill closes out the show with an audio tribute to Philip Seymour Hoffman. **Check out FollowMyHead.com!** Like my head on Facebook! Facebook.com/likemyhead Follow my head on Twitter! As Bill settles into the 8th episode of HOTC, a few changes are made to the opening. Bill is also excited to announce on the show that he is in search of a nomination for The People's Choice Podcast Awards again this year. Eric St. Vaughn's recent appearance on the show is discussed as well as RPro's upcoming "Welcome to My Nightmare" Halloween themed wrestling event. Gutter Monk drunk dials the show spewing venom for Jenny McCarthy and Miley Cyrus. Speaking of Miley, her recent appearance on SNL and internet feud with Sinead O'Connor is lambasted. The Immortal Hulk Hogan strapped on a thong and slapped his ass while riding a fake wrecking ball. Bill drags Effie into The Imagination Theatre to see what it'd be like if Christopher Walken was cast as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. A punk rock chick stuck it to Westboro Baptist Church by sticking it to herself on WBC's front lawn. Bill is so amazed at how fast the month of September is flying by that he forgets to introduce Effie in the 2nd Chair. Effie plays way more video games than Bill does. Bill recalls one Halloween where he used music (and gallons of fake blood) to creep people out. Gutter Monk is amused by Dennis Rodman and his new buddy, Little Kim. Canadian Jim calls in from the happiest and spookiest place in the world. Bill imagines a world in which Goofy the whatever he is becomes a hardened zombie destroyer. Bill briefly discusses a stupid Bieber story that no one should care about. Eric St. Vaughan calls The HEADline to accept Bill's challenge. If he accepts, the RPro star will be on the Head of the Cast on September 30th. Bill briefly explains his on again, off again relationship with the world of sport's entertainment. Moving onto a social topic, Bill and Effie discuss how technology and social media have changed the way humans relate to and communicate with each other.  **Check out FollowMyHead.com for the ENHANCED show notes for this episode!** Like my head on Facebook! Bill dedicates the first segment of the show to discussing the current big stories on social media: twerking pop stars and "mom porn" movie casting. Taking the 2nd Chair once again, Effie helps tackle Gutter Monk's douche bag fashion question while Bill breaks down the 3 types of hipsters. A voicemail from Resistance Pro Wrestling's trainer of the stars, Eric St. Vaughn, sneaks it's way into the show and a challenge is thrown down. Bill is excited to tell his cable company to go screw with the help of Aereo and their streaming OTA television service. Get to know Bill a little bit better by jumping back to 1984 and hear his first foray into broadcasting. The debut of Head of the Cast's Imagination Theatre finds Casey Kasem trying to get some sweet loving from his wife by way of dirty dedications. All that and a whole lot more. Things are certainly picking up around here! Can you follow Bill's head? **Check out FollowMyHead.com for the ENHANCED show notes for this episode!** Like my head on Facebook!
