Your career passes through PepsiCo, P&G, Haleon and NIQ. What are learnings in your corporate career you have picked up over time and what would you pass on to a younger you graduating college?2. What a wild whacky 15 months since Apr 2023, not asking for a crystal ball, but shouldn't baselines have settled down given all the one year lapse for snap, EBT, commodified is all well past us? 3. Let's take inflation head on. Is the volume challenge problem driven or anchored on inflation and significant pricing taken over 2021- early 20234. Private label - winning formula for todays times. Commodities available more than they ever have. Has private label made a come back and here to stay?5. On the people side, how do you ensure your teams are staying abreast of new analytics trends in the industry? Inflation - how are you helping brands to navigate it?6. Right now there is coupon craziness - all the digital coupon providers are having a field day. To me this is not sustainable. It's teaching the consumer a very wrong behavior. Thoughts?7. Price gaps, slopes, curves all indicate the way forward is to work on inflation related pricing and deliver the right value for the consumer. The Bank of England ("BoE") recently made its first rate cut in over four years, stirring cautious optimism about the UK's economic future. Although BoE Chief Economist Huw Pill acknowledged an improved outlook, he noted the growth rate remains modest at around 1% annually from 2024 to 2026. The narrow 5-4 vote for the rate cut underscores persistent inflation risks. Surveys show a slight decline in firms' expectations for wage growth and inflation. The BoE's survey revealed expected wage growth fell to 4.1% and the one-year-ahead consumer price index dropped to 2.5%. Similarly, the Citi/YouGov survey showed stability in one-year inflation outlooks and a minor rise in long-term expectations, reflecting the BoE's increased confidence in disinflation.Stocks featured:Melrose Industries, Haleon and EntainTo find out more about the investment management services offered by Walker Crips, please visit our website:https://www.walkercrips.co.uk/ Hosted on Acast. In this episode, HBW Insight chats with sustainable packaging expert Tony Perrotta about why it's so difficult to replace plastic pill packs in medicines packaging. Perrotta works for PA Consulting, which set up the Blister Pack Collective alongside consumer healthcare partners Haleon, Bayer and Sanofi. They are working with PulPac, which has invented a dry molded fiber alternative to plastic, which the collective hopes will be ready to commercialize in the next 12-24 months. We discuss whether regulators will accept such alternatives, given the safety and stability requirements for medicines, and the challenges of recycling, given the multitude of different frameworks and processes across the world. Perrotta also reveals that one of the partners in PA Consulting's Bottle Collective, which also hopes to use the same dry molded fiber technology to replace plastic bottles in food, personal care and consumer health industries, will soon be launching its first market trial.
Haleon, a world-leading consumer health company, are dealing with large enterprise legacy, as they were formed via a demerger from GSK. On this episode, Bob Mignanelli, VP/COO Legal at Haleon, joins Mary to talk about the ever-expanding role of the legal ops team, the ways he and his team contribute to strategic and tactical initiatives, and the importance of asking for an expanded role within the company. Bob sees the legal ops role as a crucial partner for many departments within a company but admits that sometimes leaders in those departments don't share that vision. Whether it's tech, finance, procurement, finance or HR, he believes he can contribute while looking at initiatives and strategic decisions through a legal lens. It's important to raise your hand and to let people know that you want to contribute and you want to help. The worst that can happen is they will say no, and you can't take that personally. The timing for getting involved is critical because sometimes a great idea can come when the timing just isn't right. It's important to not get discouraged and to keep moving forward to expand your horizons within the company. We speak with Cindy Cohn, the Executive Director of the Electronic Freedom Foundation to find out what the Fediverse is and why we should be part of its growth. It's not a single social media platform like Twitter or Facebook. The big difference here is that the Fediverse isn't owned by big tech giants or multibillionaires – Cindy Cohn argues “You don't fix a dictatorship by getting a better dictator. You have to get rid of the dictator. This moment offers the promise of moving to a better and more democratic social media landscape.” An app that helps you buy medicines if you're blind The tiny print on medicine packet instructions is hard to read for many people, and for those people with low literacy skills, learning disabilities like dyslexia, impaired sight or who are blind it can be impossible.
