Earnestness. Authenticity. These are the things Nashville-based guitarist Tobin Dale relates to when he considers his chosen craft as a guitarist and playing the music he loves. A true student of rock‘n'roll guitar, Dale has been at it since discovering the Beatles and subsequently picking up the guitar around age 12, growing up in Orlando. In music circles, he's become known as a go-to sideman for touring and sessions when artists are seeking the much-admired weave sound of guitars made popular by the likes of Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones and heard in the sounds of bands like The Faces, Humble Pie, the Black Crowes, Dan Baird projects and more. He first began life as a working musician in Los Angeles after following the cross-country voyage taken by one of his heroes, Tom Petty, who went from central Florida to LA. In California, he first joined the band the Nasty Souls, playing his first live show at the famed Roxy on Sunset at age 21. It was there that the likes of Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Linda Ronstadt, Patti Smith, Prince and more had played prior. Alcohol and drugs, of course, were ever-present in the LA music scene. In particular, booze became a particular vice when playing with Caldwell Jack & the Six Pack during a residency at the Kibitz Room. Dale had a wakeup call during an East Coast tour that helped Dale find sobriety. He ultimately moved to Nashville with the love of his life and began finding bigger opportunities through encounters with the likes of Alejandro Escovedo, through producer Julian Raymond at Big Machine Records, touring with Brock Ganyea and ultimately hooking up with the legendary Ray Wylie Hubbard. Dale's relationship with Hubbard started during his time playing on tour with Ganyea, who was opening shows for Hubbard. The iconic Texas songwriter approached Dale after a few performances and asked him to come up on stage to join him on the song “You Got to Move.” Dale asked Hubbard if he wanted, “the Fred McDowell or the Rolling Stones version.” A kinship was formed and the bond has only solidified since. It didn't hurt, of course, that Dale quickly found chemistry with Hubbard's son and bandmate Lucas—the two weaving their guitars seamlessly—and Dale continues playing with Hubbard's band today, such as his recent gigs on the Sirius XM Outlaw Country Cruise (where Dale also played with Andrew Leahey and the Homestead) and at Red Rocks in Colorado. It would seem, at just age 34, Dale is only getting started. He has a big summer ahead, touring with Tuk Smith & the Restless Hearts, picking up gigs here and there in Nashville and across the U.S. But with every consideration, Dale seemingly comes back to his fundamental tenants—particularly, authenticity. We discuss all of this and more on a terrific edition of The Load Out Music podcast with guitarist Tobin Dale. Enjoy!

ABOUT ALL DAY SUCKER:They are not famous but many of their fans are. Some of your favorite artists, celebrities and tastemakers have All Day Sucker on their iPods because, as BPM Magazine noted, “they are inextricably linked to all things Hollywood”. If you want to know the best a city has to offer, ask a local."Since high school we've always had a great following.” Jordan Summers (Keyboards/ Songwriter) explains. “A lot of those same people found success and became famous. Our music was part of the soundtrack to their lives”. Morty Coyle (Singer/Songwriter)contends, "Hollywood is a hard place to be from because, for the most part, you've got nowhere to go. When you grow up here, you don't have any preconceived notion of what it's supposed to be like. It just is how it is."A little time traveling might be in order to fully grasp how fully entrenched Coyle and Summers have been in the musical culture of Los Angeles. Trends came and went, but the classic pop band the two formed in high school, which evolved into The iMPOSTERS, had a timeless quality that made them a fixture on Sunset Strip for over a decade. You name it; they played it, or had a residency there: Roxy, Whisky A Go Go, Roxbury, Peanuts, Sunset Social Club, Opium Den and The Viper Room, where they did a two year Sunday night residency in the mid-'90s.It's impossible to convey the six degrees of Kevin Bacon-ness and Zelig-esque history of All Day Sucker without gratuitous name dropping and a flow chart. They gave The Wallflowers their first gig at Gazzari's. Smuggled in an underage Maroon 5 to open for them at the Viper Room and were bombarded by special guests like Adam Duritz, Stephen Stills, Jon Brion, Gibby Haynes, Tommy Stinson (The Replacements), Richard Butler (Psychedelic Furs} Benmont Tench (The Heartbreakers) among many others during their tenure at the club. They helped transform Canter's Kibitz Room into a Tuesday night Mecca where Slash, Lenny Kravitz, Dave Navarro,The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Crowes, Rage Against The Machine, Tonic, The Pointer Sisters, Rick James and countless others came to jam and still do."Jordan and I had been making albums and playing as All Day Sucker with different musicians for several years after The iMPOSTERS disbanded” Morty explains. "Like Steely Dan, we were the main songwriters and constants of ADS. Our old friend Jay Gore (Mindi Aibar, Hilary Duff, Lauryn Hill, Michael McDonald) had played guitar with us on and off through it all and for years we all knew we wanted to capture the sound of the rhythm section and amazing vocals of bassist Dan Rothchild (Heart, Beck, Fiona Apple, Shakira) and drummer David Goodstein (Daniel Powter, Jackson Browne, Ricky Martin) . We had all been playing together for years both on Tuesdays at The Kibitz with The F.O.C.K.R.s collective and as Men Without Sex, our party cover band. Dan, David and Jay are beyond pedigreed musicians so I figured if I was the worst guy up there we'd be alright"."Through no fault of our own we all have really grown into a band." Summers jokes. "There's 5 guy's DNA in this baby”.Rothchild is also the producer on All Day Sucker's new album “Denim Days”. He produced Better Than Ezra's 1995 platinum selling debut “Deluxe”.Inspired by real life events, Denim Days is brimming with heady, street-smart yet refreshingly sweet, sophisticated melodic rock. What gives their instantly memorable hooks a soulful resonance are sharp musicianship and a grounded lyrical sense that illuminates mature, authentic feelings."What started out as a record about domestic bliss became whatever this is. The winds changed and so did the direction of some of the songs"...

Ms. Beth Stelling. What a woman. Not only does she look exactly like the white version of Tisha Campbell but after practically spending an entire day and night with her, I can honestly say this; I completely, absolutely, positively adore her. There is something so special about being with her and also hearing her voice as a comic. It makes you feel like you've known Beth forever and all while laughing uncontrollably. Her comedy is just so relatable to women. Off stage she's this calm, go with the flow, kind of gal; the kind you could only hope to get stuck at the airport with or on some horrible trip. I mean, how many people can you really say that about? Not many. Then it all made sense to me. I learned that she comes from a family of mostly women. One on one she is just so, so easy to talk to. The day was moving fast and before I knew it, it was night. Somehow I wound up at the Kibitz Room to see her perform. She graciously introduced me to everyone. When the evening was finally over every single comic approached to say goodbye, and all of them had the same mantra to say to her, "Do you realize how much I love you?". In the moment they were not referring to her comedy, but about who she is as a person. Beth's spirit and energy is palpable and her comedy is like no other. She is literally never in one city for very long and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the time we spent together, but most importantly to have made a new friend. The whole experience was empowering. Beth Stelling is a stand-up comedian, writer and actress from Dayton, Ohio. She got her start in the Chicago stand-up scene and later landed a spot on Jimmy Kimmel Live, all because he saw her perform at the Upright Citizens Brigade. Beth tours extensively, performing at festivals and clubs across the country. She co-hosts a weekly stand-up show at UCB Sunset called CHURCH. The show was recently named a favorite of 2015 by LA Weekly. Most recently her Half Hour special on Comedy Central aired October 10th, and the release of her new album with Comedy Dynamics, Simply the Beth debuted at #3 on the iTunes Comedy Charts. The album is available for purchase online, at her comedy shows and on "AMATUNES". (You'll just have to check out our podcast episodes to find out what Amatunes is all about!) Her appearances on Showtime's Comedy of SXSW, Last Call with Carson Daly, and The Meltdown with Jonah & Kumail all aired this past summer as well and are available online. In the next year you can expect to see Beth on NBC's new online comedy channel Seeso. Follow Beth on all social media @BethStelling.

Imagine growing up the daughter of frickin' Comedy Royalty, being shuttled around the world as a very tall, geeky, British-accented adolescent, living a somewhat privileged life riding horses competitively, becoming a bit of a party girl, doing some modeling and then deciding to break into stand-up comedy. What the what...? Camilla Cleese will always live with the last name of one of the most beloved comic figures of all time (John Cleese of Monty Python, if you're slow) which only adds another element of difficulty when you're trying to get into an already tough business. Not to mention she's been targeted by a short men advocacy group; I'm. Not. Kidding.
