Addressing grief when a sibling passes away can be complicated. That is what Annie Sklaver Orenstein discovered when her brother passed away. Since then, she has researched familial grief and authored the book, “Always a Sibling: The Forgotten Mourner's Guide to Grief,” to help others with the unique challenges of disenfranchised grief when siblings' losses are often overlooked. She joins this episode of Relentlessly Resilient to share her journey, tools, and insight into the importance of resilience in carrying forward with life after such a loss. Even though we live in challenging times, we can become ‘Relentlessly Resilient’ as we lean on and learn from one another’s experiences. Hosts Jennie Taylor and Michelle Scharf are no strangers to overcoming adversity; Michelle lost her husband to cancer, while Jennie’s husband, Major Brent Taylor, was killed in the service of our country. Their stories bond them together, and now listeners can join them weekly as they visit with others enduring challenges and who teach us how they are exercising resiliency, finding value in their grief, and purpose in moving forward. It might seem odd to consider that "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" is kind of an anomaly among Christmas movies: It's set in modern day, but actually focuses on the real meaning of Christmas--you know, the religious meaning. Perhaps you remember reading the book when you were a kid. Maybe you've seen the stage production that's made the rounds over the years. Or maybe you even watched the 1980's TV movie. But now there is a new feature-length version coming to theaters on November 8th. In this Movie Show Digital Extra, producers Chet Thomas and Darin McDaniel join Andy Farnsworth to talk about the movie, the 20+ year journey to get it made, the desire and efforts to make sure it stayed fully true to the source material, how they got "The Chosen's" Dallas Jenkins to direct, how they cast the young Herdmans, and why this particular story has resonated with so many people over the decades. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Lionsgate) stars Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, Lauren Graham, Molly Belle Wright, Beatrice Schneider, Kirk Woller, and Elizabeth Tabish. Directed by Dallas Jenkins. The new film "The Carpenter" is a bit of a mash-up of things you might not expect to find in the same movie. An MMA-type fighter in the time of Jesus Christ. A white man with red hair in 1st century Israel. Needle drops from Metallica in a movie heavily connected to religion. In this Movie Show Digital Extra, producer & co-writer Kenny Krebs, and co-writer and star Kameron Krebs ("Oren") join Andy Farnsworth to talk about the movie, including how a family not connected to Hollywood had the desire to not just make a movie, but to make one that they would like to watch. To them, it's a deeply personal and even miraculous movie that has required a multi-year effort and a heavy personal financial investment even as they endured personal trials and tragedies. Relentlessly Resilient host Jennie Taylor launched The Major Brent Taylor Foundation on what would have been her husband's 40th birthday. Nearly five years later, the organization has expanded to not only include their original principles of training, honoring, and engaging, but to provide Gold Star families with travel opportunities to attend the annual rededication of the Global War on Terrorism Memorial, an interactive and massive 9/11 Project traveling installation, Flag Missions, and much much more. On this Cohost Conversation episode, Jennie and Michelle discuss the power and purpose of the foundation and invite others to get involved in patriotism wherever they are, including if they can donate to the foundation or attend the Leadership Legacy Gala on Friday, November 8, 2024, in Ogden Utah. Entrepreneur Mary Crafts returns to Relentlessly Resilient to share lessons from her book “UNBOUNDED—From Sorrow to Summit.” Around the age of 50, she discovered that even though her life looked successful with family, friends, and amazing business endeavors, she lived it out of fear, not love. So, she CHOSE to start “Crafting a meaningful life,” chose to live a LOVE-based life, got healthy, got divorced, and literally climbed through adversity when she summited Kilimanjaro at age 65. Her book is an easy but impactful read, filled with outstanding advice on taking control of your life and living to your true self. As Michelle says in this episode, “A lot of people have the capacity to take this book and use it as a manual for your life.
