DIZNEY COAST TO COAST - The Ultimate Unofficial Disney Fan Podcast
Disney fans rejoice! On December 23, 1998, Cirque du Soleil opened the show “La Nouba” at Downtown Disney (now Disney Springs). It became a staple of the dining, shopping, and entertainment district for just over 19 years when it played its final performance on December 31, 2017. At that time, Disney fans had no idea what would replace this long-running production. Almost four years later, Cirque du Soleil's “Drawn to Life” opened in the same venue at Disney Springs on November 18, 2021. This new production features everything audiences know and love about Cirque du Soleil, but this time it features a lot of your favorite Disney characters with an unprecedented collaboration between Cirque du Soleil and Walt Disney Animation Studios. Joining me to discuss this production is the show's Artistic Director, Justin Sullivan, and the Artist who performs the role of Mother, Andreanne Nadeau. In the two-plus years of this podcast, I have never had a guest with such a unique perspective on Club Med, more than my special guest today. She lived for a time in Club Med all over the world, but she was not a G.M. and technically, did not work in the villages either. Confused? From age 0 to 16, she changed countries every 6-12 months and started the flying trapeze at age four and she and her brother had 200 big sisters and brothers everywhere they went. She is the daughter of a very famous Chief of Village (whose episode aired in May of 2023), and she was born in Zinal, Switzerland, and has UK and US citizenship. In 2010 she was hired by Cirque du Soleil for the show, La Nouba, as part of the Aerial Tissue Team, and she stayed with the show until 2017 (based in Orlando, Florida) when it closed its run, doing ten shows a week. Who is this mystery person? If you had the pleasure of being in a village with her and her dad, then you already know. For those that do not know, please help me welcome and get to know, the amazing, Kate Coltman!! In this episode, we cover Kate's earliest memories and what it was like growing up in Club Med until she was sixteen years old. And we do cover quite a lot of Kate's time spent at La Nouba because she is the first guest on MFS to have worked at Cirque du Soleil. Kate tells us what the application process was like, visiting Montreal for five days to sign her contract and get fitted for her costume (and running into an EXGO she knew from Circus), to performing in the shows and her memory of her first-ever show for La Nouba. If you were a Circus G.O. or are a big fan of Cirque du Soleil shows, then you will love this interview with Kate. I really hope you enjoy this episode with a very amazing person!! **My First Season podcast has always been ad-free and free to listen to and is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Samsung Podcasts, Podbean App, Podchaser, Spotify, Amazon Music/Audible, TuneIn + Alexa, iHeartRadio, PlayerFM, Pandora and Listen Notes. Recently I had the opportunity with my daughter along with David & Leah Zanolla to visit Cirque du Soleil: Drawn to Life. This show has just recently achieved its first anniversary this month. This is the second show the Cirque group has hosted at what was originally Downtown Disney, but is now Disney Springs. We will look in depth as to whether this show is worth the ticket to attend. We'll take a look at what makes the show succeed, and how it compares to the original show in this venue, La Nouba. If you are considering attending this show, this review will definitely be worth the time. Check out Cirque du Soleil's 50th production: Drawn to Life, a Review.

Let's be honest, we've all had those moments of utter shock at Walt Disney World changing a much-loved ride, restaurant or entertainment location. Whether it be the ending of Cirque Du Soleil's La Nouba or more recently, the classic ride Splash Mountain, over the years we have had to say an abrupt farewell to some of our favourite things. Most have been easy to move past, whilst some have been hard… We agree that change is necessary and shifts in a positive direction as a result, but on today's episode, we're going to talk about the 6 things we absolutely, categorically DO NOT want Disney to change. Hence, HANDS OFF DISNEY! Let us know what you want to stay the same in Walt Disney World on Twitter @TheDUOPo and Instagram @the.duopodcast. Thanks guys and enjoy the show! P.S. Have you reviewed our show on Apple Podcasts yet? It'd mean the world if you could spare a minute to leave us some friendly words so we can get our low-key Disney obsession to the masses! X

Benoit Glazer and the Timucua Arts Foundation believe that the visual and performing arts should be accessible to everyone. What started out as house concerts to fill a gap in his music loving heart, has become a mission to present and inspire great music and art in Central Florida. The Timucua Arts Foundation does this through performance and education. Prior to the creation of the Timucua Arts Foundation, Benoit is perhaps best known for his work as conductor of Cirque du Soleil's La Nouba. He also happens to be an accomplished arranger, trumpet player, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Ben and wife Élaine Corriveau literally put everything they had into creating a home that is by all accounts, a truly impressive performing arts center. Ben half jokingly says they'll never be able to retire as a result. In this episode, Benoit walks us through the story and some of the lessons learned along the way. Ben and his wife Elaine have created something extraordinary. You hear the TedX version of their journey in this YouTube video. Show notes at UnstarvingMusician.com

If you’ve ever been to Cirque Du Soleil’s La Nouba show in Orlando FL over the past 10 years, most likely you’ve seen flatland rider Marcos De Jesus perform his solo act. Never mind his costume or full face make up he had to apply daily, or the fact he was riding mostly in the dark with a spotlight on him to a live orchestra. Perfection was expected. Originally from Sau Paulo Brazil, Marcos moved to the United States to chase the American Dream. For over 10 years he performed 2 shows a day in front of a mostly packed house for one of the most reputable companies to ever put on a live stage performance. Now that the Cirque show he spent thousands of hours perfecting has come to a close, he’s figuring out the next stage of his life at age 44. We sat down with Marcos to discuss his life growing up in Brazil, how he found bmx, winning the Latin X Games gold medal, auditioning for the Cirque show, staying healthy while pushing his riding outside of the shows, the daily grind of being expected to pull every trick every time, and what his plans are for the next phase of his career. So get comfortable, crank up your speakers, and get to know one of the best bmx show riders to ever do it, Marcos De Jesus.
