Lūk, virkne biogrāfisku faktu, kas to uzskatāmi rāda.

No tā visa daudz ieguvu. Kādu laiku stipri ietekmējos no Amerikas virzieniem. Iespējams, ka tieši mācības Amerikā tev sekmēja šo virzienu, ne? Nē, interese man radās jau iepriekš. Jā, tā precizitāte man vienmēr bijusi svarīga.

Kā to izdarīt, interesējamies raidījumā Kā labāk dzīvot.

Anna Ivanova | Assistant Professor, School of Psychology | Georgia Tech College of Sciences "Dissociating Language and Thought in Humans and in Machines" “What is the relationship between language and thought? This question has long intrigued researchers across scientific fields. In this talk, I will propose a framework for clarifying the language-thought relationship. I will introduce a distinction between formal competence—knowledge of linguistic rules and patterns—and functional competence—understanding and using language in the world. This distinction is grounded in human neuroscience, where a wealth of evidence indicates that formal competence relies on a set of specialized brain regions (“the language network”), whereas functional competence requires the use of multiple non-language-specific neural systems. I will then present a series of case studies illustrating how the formal/functional competence distinction can help (a) delineate the functional architecture of the human brain, providing a framework for studying complex cognitive behaviors, such as computer coding and legal reasoning; (b) understand the capabilities and limitations of today's large language models, particularly in the realm of general world knowledge.” If you would like to become an AFFILIATE of the Center, please let us know.Follow along with us on Instagram | Threads | Facebook

From April 24, 2023: Evan Gershkovich has been in Russian detention for the last several weeks. He is a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, and he's the latest American taken hostage by the Vladimir Putin regime. His good friend Polina Ivanova is a reporter for the Financial Times, a colleague of Evan's in Russia, and has been an outspoken advocate for his release. I am delighted to host a special series of podcasts (on the Backstory Podcast) with distinguished guests who are pivotal to “The Base 10 Solutionary Summit of 2024”. The Summit, hosted by Munich International School, represents around 200 young Changemakers and Educators from 20 European Schools, who together look to share solutions for improving systems at differing scales, from local to global levels. At the heart of the Summit is the notion that sustainability is the balance overtime: From 1, to 10, to 100, to 1000. And so, in today's episode, Will is honoured to talk to Raina Ivanova Ivanova is a German climate justice activist, focusing on children's rights violations caused by climate change and resulting social inequalities. As a part of the Children vs Climate crisis petition, alongside Greta Thunberg and 14 others, she petitioned 5 countries to drastically reduce carbon emissions. She also took part in the Fridays for Future school strikes. Ivanova is a former member of UNICEF Germany's Youth Council and having graduated from the IB in 2022, now works as an intern at the International youth NGO called “Heirs to Our Ocean” which brings together youth from differing cultural and socio-economic backgrounds to collaborate towards a just, equitable, and empathetic future.

Each year, the world produces 300 million tons of plastics, however, just 20% of it ends up back for recycling, with even less actually getting recycled. As plastics are an important part of improving the quality of life for a growing population and aren't going anywhere, how can we solve the plastics crisis with circular solutions? And how can major plastics companies play a leading role in the solution? In the latest episode of the Sustainability Matters podcast, we look specifically at the case of Eastman Chemical Company's commitment and investment in circular solutions to help address the plastics crisis. Host, Bruno Sarda, and Velislava Ivanova, EY Americas Chief Sustainability Officer, and Climate Change and Sustainability Services Leader, are joined by Brad Lich, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Eastman, to discuss Eastman's innovative approach to closing the plastics value chain loop. Lich begins the discussion by explaining why circularity is a core part of Eastman's business strategy and what it means to their business. He explains the importance of recycling in closing the loop in the value chain, focusing on molecular recycling and how it complements traditional mechanical recycling. Lich stresses that the innovation to solve the plastics and recycling problem isn't decades away, it is happening today through these circular and innovative solutions. Lich and Ivanova discuss how no single company or industry can find solutions to the plastic pollution crisis on their own. The key for any industry wishing to move toward a circular model is to develop collaborations and partnerships. Key takeaways include: Adopting circular production is key to managing waste and tackling climate change. Innovation to make plastics truly circular isn't decades away, it is happening today. Demand for circular solutions in the plastics industry is rising, as customers push for greener products. Molecular recycling complements traditional mechanical recycling by addressing its shortcomings and avoiding end-of-life. New innovative recycling technologies lower greenhouse gas impact in comparison to traditional processes. Collaboration and co-innovation among companies, NGOs and regulators is essential to drive investments and find solutions. No company can do it alone. © 2023 Ernst & Young LLP

Four years ago musician, writer and podcaster Karina Ivanova was listening to one of my podcast episodes, and planted a seed that she'd like to be a guest one day. But then she heard an inner voice ask: “What would you be excited to tell Ksenia about?” That's when she realized that the creations she's meant to share with me (and with you) haven't come through yet. So Karina got busy bringing her creative visions to reality, from a music album, to a poetry book, a podcast and a journaling movement in her home country of Kazakhstan. All while exploring her own spiritual journey through the Akashic Records and other modalities. Today, she shares it all with us, and I couldn't be more excited about this coming full circle! We discuss: Meeting Spirit while staying persent in your body How to learn another language fluently – Karina's experience learning english Karina's experience growing up with a musician mom First encounters with Spirit Karina's spiritual journey and how opening her Akashic Records changed everything Karina's experience with residency at the Watermill Center Making peace with your inner voice Pain alchemized into sacred work Music as an invitation to feel The creative process of writing a music album The healing power of journaling and free writing How to quantum leap through journaling Changing the trajectory of your life by establishing a communication between your past self and future self Creating your own mantras Appreciating the little things Karina's upcoming creative projects Episode sponsor: Laird Superfood: Use my special link to save 15% at Laird Superfood at checkout. This week, we're revisiting an important episode from last year. Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 triggered a global food crisis. Months later, FT correspondents Polina Ivanova, Chris Cook and Laura Pitel found out how Russia aims to profit from this. Ivanova explains how she and her colleagues used satellite photos, transponder data and a document trail to track a Russian company's shipment of 2,675 metric tonnes of milling wheat out of the occupied Ukrainian port of Berdyansk, across the Black Sea and over to a port in Turkey. Today we're joined by Anna Ivanova, a postdoctoral researcher at MIT Quest for Intelligence. In our conversation with Anna, we discuss her recent paper Dissociating language and thought in large language models: a cognitive perspective. In the paper, Anna reviews the capabilities of LLMs by considering their performance on two different aspects of language use: 'formal linguistic competence', which includes knowledge of rules and patterns of a given language, and 'functional linguistic competence', a host of cognitive abilities required for language understanding and use in the real world. We explore parallels between linguistic competence and AGI, the need to identify new benchmarks for these models, whether an end-to-end trained LLM can address various aspects of functional competence, and much more! Polina Ivanova is a Moscow correspondent for the Financial Times, and has spent the better part of the last decade reporting from Russia for that publication, for Reuters and elsewhere. She joined Benjamin Wittes to talk through the Russian military press conference that took place on Friday in which the Ministry of Defense seemed to walk back Russia's war aims in the Ukraine conflict. Ben and Polina talked about what the Ministry of Defense said, how different or similar it is from previous Russian statements about what this war is about, whether it was intended for international or domestic consumption, or maybe both, and whether it provides a plausible basis for resolution of the conflict.
