In today's episode we're celebrating 25 years of the Multiplier Effect and 100 episodes of The Multiplier Effect podcast! For the past 25 years, Endeavor has worked to catalyze the growth of emerging and underserved innovation ecosystems by inspiring high-growth founders to dream bigger, investing in them to scale faster, and providing a platform for them to pay it forward. While entrepreneurs and the business media often focus on companies' financial successes, Endeavor has seen that these metrics only tell half the story. Equally important for the growth of ecosystems is the Multiplier Effect — the compound impact entrepreneurs have by mentoring, inspiring, and investing in the next generation of entrepreneurs. In her speech during our 25th Anniversary Gala, Linda Rottenberg celebrates Endeavor Entrepreneurs who create successful businesses and become Multipliers in their local ecosystems. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/endeavornorthamerica/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/endeavornorthamerica/support

Episode Guest: Bruce Feiler, one of America's top voices on contemporary life, best-selling author of 15 books, speaker, and TV personalityEpisode Description: Bruce Feiler has long explored the stories that give our lives meaning. Galvanized by a personal crisis, he spent the last few years crisscrossing the country, collecting hundreds of life stories of Americans in all 50 states who'd been through major life changes-from, losing jobs to losing loved ones; changing careers to changing relationships; getting sober to getting healthy to simply looking for a fresh start. He then spent a year coding these stories, identifying patterns and takeaways that can help all of us survive and thrive in times of change.Feiler discovered a world in which transitions are becoming more plentiful and the skills to manage them more urgent for all of us to master. The idea that we'll have one job, one relationship, and one source of happiness is hopelessly outdated. We all feel unnerved by this upheaval. We're concerned that our lives are not what we expected, that we've veered off course, living life out of order. But we're not alone.Life Is in the Transitions introduces the fresh, illuminating vision of the nonlinear life in which each of us faces dozens of disruptors. One in ten of those becomes what Feiler calls a lifequake, a massive change that leads to a life transition. The average length of these transitions is five years. The upshot: We all spend half our lives in this unsettled state. You or someone you know is going through one now.The most exciting thing Feiler identified is a powerful new toolkit for navigating these pivotal times. Drawing on his extraordinary trove of insights, he lays out specific strategies each of us can use to reimagine and rebuild our lives, often stronger than before. In this episode, you'll discover how to:Start with your transition superpowerIdentify your emotionsShed somethingTry something creativeRewrite your life storyAbout Bruce Feiler:Bruce Feiler is one of America's most thoughtful voices on contemporary life. He is the author of seven New York Times bestsellers; the presenter of two prime-time series on PBS; and the inspiration for the drama, Council of Dads on NBC. His work combines timeless wisdom with timely knowledge turned into practical, positive messages that allow people to live with more meaning, passion, and joy. His new book, Life is in the Transitions Mastering Change at Any Age, describes his journey across America, collecting hundreds of life stories, and exploring how we can navigate the growing number of life transitions with greater purpose and skill. Bruce has written for numerous publications, including The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and Gourmet, where he won three James Beard Awards. Saya membahas buku Crazy is a Compliment karya Linda Rottenberg.

Brian's book is now available! Go to book.latitud.com to get your copy of Viva the Entrepreneur: Founding, Scaling and Raising Venture Capital in Latin America .This episode is not about that, though, and even less so about him. Yes, sure, our guest today wrote the foreword -- but above all, she's a huge inspiration to me and thousands of other founders around the world. That's because Linda Rottenberg co-founded Endeavor and has led the global entrepreneurship movement since 1997. Back then, people would call her Chica Loca — or “the Crazy Girl”. Why crazy? Linda insisted that high-growth, high-impact entrepreneurs exist outside of Silicon Valley; almost no one believed her.Now with offices in 40 locations, Endeavor rigorously selects, scales up, and co-invests in the fastest growing founders in emerging and underserved markets. There are currently 2,500 Endeavor Entrepreneurs (Brian's one of them!).Endeavor shows how essencial it is for every founder to count on a network of people who are a few steps ahead in the game and then give back. And it proved it works. In this episode, Linda talks about:The key to building great connections and communitiesWhat makes people help other peopleThe importance of solving local problemsAnd the stories that turned crazy into global thought leader.--A couple of Linda's stories and a lot of Brian's are in Viva the Entrepreneur. You can get the ebook NOW for only $0.99 -- This is a limited offer, so make sure to move fast. Go to book.latitud.com to check it out.

How do you take smart risks, how can you be transparent – but inspiring – with your board and your team, how do you keep up morale in what seem like the darkest days, and what does the future of blitzscaling look like now? Reid answers all in another Strategy Session. This session is a little different – what you're about to hear is actually a portion of Reid’s virtual fireside chat with Linda Rottenberg, the CEO and co-founder of Endeavor, an organization that supports and invests in entrepreneurs worldwide, and especially in emerging markets. The fireside chat happened in the early Spring and you'll hear a certain amount of urgency in the questions from entrepreneurs. Then – and now – there is so much we are still learning. Reid and Linda share important, clear insight; honest answers; and encouragement. Because as Linda says: “When economies turn down, entrepreneurs turn up.”Read a transcript of this interview at: https://mastersofscale.com/endeavor/Subscribe to the Masters of Scale weekly newsletter at http://eepurl.com/dlirtX

Linda was named one of TIME’s “Innovators for the 21st century” and “the Entrepreneur Whisperer”. Linda Rottenberg is an expert on entrepreneurship and leadership. For years she was known as "La Chica Loca” (the crazy girl) for insisting that high-impact entrepreneurs exist in emerging and developing markets. And in 2014, she published her best-selling book, Crazy is a Compliment. As co-founder and CEO of Endeavor, Linda has led the global entrepreneurship movement for over two decades. With 60 offices spanning the world, Endeavor rigorously selects, mentors, and invests in high-impact entrepreneurs leading the fastest growing companies in underserved markets. Today, 1800 Endeavor Entrepreneurs generate over $15B in annual revenues and produce more than 2 million jobs. We had a high-octane discussion about what it takes to scale up your business: from markets to talent to mentors to equity. Linda shared a number of powerful strategies that work for Endeavor entrepreneurs, from having a “start-up prenup” to executing “minivations” to leveraging economic downturns to stalking! And finally, we discussed what it means to be a great leader. My favorite quotes included: "When economies turn down, entrepreneurs turn up", and "Stalking is an under-rated start-up strategy"! And Linda made two book recommendations: "Blitzscaling" by Reid Hoffman and "Manhattan Beach" by Jennifer Egan. If you would like to follow Linda, you can find her on Twitter or at endeavor.org. You can also get her book Crazy is a Compliment, and listen to her episode on Masters of Scale.

What’s the secret to Silicon Valley? And can any other region nurture such a thriving startup scene? Linda Rottenberg, CEO of Endeavor, makes the case that a startup culture can be nurtured almost anywhere, so long as you have the raw ingredients — namely, a few initial entrepreneurs with access to capital and a willingness to pay it forward. Bear in mind that Silicon Valley is so much more than an archipelago of thriving tech companies. It’s actually an ecosystem — one that’s deeply interconnected and self-reinforcing. Silicon Valley companies constantly swap talent — investors, entrepreneurs, hackers and managers — as they grow from seedlings to huge proportions. And any up-and-comer would have to do the same. Today, no region can match Silicon Valley’s collective wisdom for scaling a business. But — from Buenos Aires to Boston, Tel Aviv to Shenzen — there are fledgling startup scenes that could ultimately give Silicon Valley a run for its money.

Ten years ago, "entrepreneur" didn't exist in the lexicon of many parts of the world. Now, thanks to the work of a nonprofit called Endeavor, entrepreneurs are emerging in countries where such activity was once impossible. Invited to speak at the Center for Social Innovation at Stanford, Linda Rottenberg shares in this audio lecture how her organization has gone from a "crazy" idea of two business school graduates to an important engine for empowering entrepreneurs in Latin America and beyond. https://ssir.org/podcasts/entry/linda_rottenberg_-_taking_entrepreneurism_international
