Think failure means you're not cut out for leadership? Think again. In this episode, Marie Sonneman—Lieutenant, coach, and host of Ordinary to Badass—shares how failing promotion boards more times than she passed didn't stop her from becoming the only female lieutenant in a department of nearly 700. From almost giving up before her first detective role to rising into leadership, Marie breaks down why failure isn't proof you're unqualified—it's proof you're in the arena.✨ Theme: Resilience Stories & Mindset BreakthroughsWe're talking about the grit it takes to stay in the game, reframing setbacks into stepping stones, and why perseverance matters more than perfection. You'll hear:
What you believe about yourself determines what you're capable of becoming. In this episode, Dr. Cindra shares how high performers—from athletes to entrepreneurs—use the power of belief as a foundation for confidence and success. Drawing on the inspiring story of Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, Cindra shows how speaking your vision out loud and believing in your potential—even before there's any proof—can fuel massive results. Blakely had no business background, faced constant rejection, and yet declared daily that she was going to help millions of women feel confident. That belief pulled her forward and shaped her actions. Dr. Cindra offers practical tools to help you apply this mindset by using “I am” identity statements to rewire your thinking and align with your future self. Whether you're building a business, preparing for a big opportunity, or simply growing into your next level, it all starts with belief. This Week's Power Phrase: “I speak to myself like the person I'm becoming—because I'm already on my way.” This Week's Quote of the Week: “You are not what you think you are. SEASON 11 The Learning Leader; Daily Leadership Tips and Discussions "Keep your purpose at the center. When you're working for something greater than yourself, you'll find courage you never knew you had." - Sara Blakely
Building a Brand That Opens Doors In this episode, I sit down with Serah, a former child actor turned personal branding expert and AI business strategist, to explore why personal branding isn't a “nice-to-have” anymore — it's the engine that drives your career and business forward. We swap real-world examples from heavy-hitters like Sara Blakely, Kendra Scott, and Elon Musk, showing how the right brand identity can multiply your impact, influence, and income. From overcoming the fear of self-promotion to navigating humility without hiding your brilliance, Serah breaks down the mindset shifts that every entrepreneur and professional needs to make to be seen, heard, and trusted. The Fear Factor: Rejection, Imperfection, and the Art of Showing Up We talk about the paralysis that comes from worrying about how your work will be received — and why you need to release it anyway. I share why I tell authors to publish their books without obsessing over reviews, because your unique perspective is what makes the work valuable. We even take a detour into pop culture, unpacking the mixed reviews of Amazon Prime Video's “War of the Worlds” and how audience reaction doesn't always match actual value. Creativity, Algorithms, and Authentic Connection Putting yourself out there creatively isn't easy. Serah and I dive into the messy reality of criticism, algorithm-driven visibility, and the rising hunger for authentic human connection in a world leaning heavily on AI. We explore why imperfection isn't a liability — it's proof you're human and relatable. Speaking Up — Even When You're Not Ready I share a personal story about how a college presentation — given while I had chicken pox — became the turning point in my public speaking journey. The standing ovation I received despite my appearance taught me one lesson I've carried for life: never let fear silence you. From Self-Sabotage to Vision-Driven Growth Serah and I connect the dots between personal branding, risk-taking, and the inner work needed to break free from limiting beliefs. We talk about creating a vivid future self-identity, setting meaningful goals, and tackling the invisible barriers that hold so many back. The throughline? Success comes when you decide to play bigger — and actually step onto the stage you've been avoiding. Resources & Connections Serah shares her own platforms, including her personal brand hub sarahdelaine.com, her Stage 8 agency for marketing services, and her Profitable Personal Brand newsletter. Whether you're an entrepreneur, leader, or creative, this conversation will give you the clarity — and the push — to own your story and amplify your presence. About Serah D'Laine From Hollywood Red Carpet to Reinvention Serah D'Laine's entrepreneurial life once revolved around her Hollywood career. She was a successful actress, known for gracing the screen with roles in feature films, network television, and national commercials. Working since she was 13 years old, her world was immersed with auditions, scripts, and the glitz, glamour, and chaos of the entertainment industry. From the outside, it looked like she had it all—a successful acting career many dream of, red carpets, recognition, and a foot in the door of fame. But beneath the surface, Serah felt a deep void. The Hollywood lifestyle didn't align with her desire for meaningful life.Growing up in Hollywood brought a measure of success she enjoyed, she started to feel like she was playing a role not just on screen but in her own life. There was a lingering feeling that something deeper was missing—a sense of purpose, alignment, and fulfillment that no amount of celebrity could provide.... Then came the moment that changed everything: a near-death experience. A single, life-altering event that ripped away the illusions she had built her life around. Waking nearly every night in a panic from PTS - It left her with one haunting realization: she wasn't living her truth. She felt a pull—call it intuition, destiny, or divine intervention—to walk away from the world she knew and reinvent herself entirely. The vision of a new path—a fusion of personal growth, branding, and impact—emerged. But stepping into the unknown was terrifying. Could she leave her career, identity, and comfort zone behind to build something entirely new?..... "one of the hardest decisions of my life, to put a successful 15 year career on hold + finally listen to “HER”, my true self." Her journey has prepared her for this role as a brand strategist, business coach, and leadership mentor. She has reinvented herself not once but multiple times, and her success was the ultimate validation that this was her destined path. What makes Serah different? Her brand isn't built on theories; it's built on experience. She knows the highs and lows of reinvention because she's lived them. And now, she's here to guide others to their own version of success. Today, Serah D'Laine stands as a speaker in psychology-based branding, business growth strategy, and leadership. Through Stage IIX, iSCALE CRM, and her Profitable Personal Brand Formula and L.E.A.D Method, she offers clients the tools to build authentic brands, achieve financial freedom, and align their businesses with their highest selves. Her journey—marked by reinvention, resilience, and results—makes her uniquely qualified to guide others. She isn't just a coach; she's a testament to the power of transformation, proving that anyone can rise, pivot, and thrive when they align their purpose with their work. "The million dollar tip that “Hollywood” taught me, that is probably one of the most important things I use to succeed in your business.....IT'S ALL ABOUT POSITIONING!!!

In both business and life, endurance, not speed, is of the utmost importance. Jesse Itzler's first book was rejected by 15 publishers before number 16 gave him a shot. 30 is how many years Jesse's been running races without winning a single win. And 100 is roughly how many miles Jesse covered in his longest ultramarathon, races that taught him the one business lesson most entrepreneurs never learn: you don't have to be the fastest to finish first."I've never won anything in my life, not even close," Itzler tells me with a laugh during our recent conversation. "I'm back in the pack. In a marathon with 60,000 runners in New York, I came in like 57,000th place. But these ultra marathons aren't about being the best runner, they're all about will."It's a philosophy that's carried the serial entrepreneur through an unlikely journey: from performing as rapper "Jesse Jaymes" (his single "Shake It Like a White Girl" hit #74 on Billboard in 1991) to co-founding Marquis Jet and selling it to Berkshire Hathaway, to leading ZICO Coconut Water's sale to Coca-Cola. Along the way, he became part-owner of the Atlanta Hawks and married Spanx founder Sara Blakely, creating one of entrepreneurship's most dynamic power couples. Now in its 3rd year, Jesse is hosting the Runningman Festival, a unique fitness and wellness experience and conference designed to challenge, inspire and bring like-minded people together in Kingston Downs: Rome, Georgia in mid-September. Jesse is the definition of serial entrepreneur but what most people miss about his approach to business is that he's never actually trying to win the race everyone else is running. I hope you get as much out of this conversation with Jesse as I did! Special thanks to our sponsors:You know, about a year ago I was working out of a co-working space with a private office and studio in West Hollywood, and honestly? It was fine but felt more like a college dorm than a professional workspace. I'm running a full service brand strategy consultancy and production company, meeting with serious clients, and I realized the environment wasn't on brand for me. Then I discovered Industrious - and here's something that blew my mind: they're actually the world's largest premium flexible workspace, with over 200 locations across 10 countries. But they don't feel corporate or stuffy at all. What really sets them apart is their approach…Unlike traditional co-working spaces, Industrious operates more like a hotel management model. They partner directly with landlords to create these incredible spaces, and the difference is night and day. When I walk my clients through the doors now, I can see the immediate shift in how they perceive me and my company. There's this elevation in credibility that you just can't put a price on. And I'm not alone - their members consistently report feeling "proud to bring clients here" and that the space "elevates my own sense of self so I can do better work."The flexibility is incredible - I can scale my space up or down based on my team's needs. And with locations worldwide, I've got options whether I'm in LA or traveling for business to NYC and across the world. If you're tired of working from home or that coffee shop and you want a space that reflects your ambitions and style, you owe it to yourself to check out Industrious.Head to https://www.industriousoffice.com/ or send me a note and I'll personally set up a VIP tour for you in an Industrious office near you. She created her revolutionary brand after identifying a problem in her wardrobe: what undergarments could she wear with white pants? Blakely's answer to that question started a shapewear revolution. She used the money she earned selling fax machines to launch her products, which soon started flying off the shelves of department stores and became a wardrobe staple for millions. She sold her majority stake in Spanx in 2021 after more than twenty years at the helm. Blakely opened up to Hoda on her journey to success, embracing failure, and trusting her intuition.

What do Kate Winslet, Bruce Springsteen, and Sara Blakely have in common? They all embody the bold, complex energy of the 3/5 profile in Human Design. In this episode, Nicole explores what it really means to carry the “Martyr/Heretic” archetype—and why that label doesn't even come close to describing the true power behind this profile. Nicole breaks down the role of trial and error in the 3/5's path, the impact of the unconscious projection field, and why many 3/5s stop short of reaching their full potential. Nicole shares personal insights from working with 3/5s—including her own husband—and the surprising way these individuals are wired to lead. Nicole also peels back the curtain on the emotional terrain of the 3/5 journey: the fear of failure, the conditioning from childhood, and the resilience that gets built through lived experience. And if you've ever questioned whether you're “doing it wrong” because things don't seem to stick, you'll walk away with clarity, permission, and maybe even a little fire to go break a few things—on purpose. Today on the Brett Winterble Show Brett celebrated Women's Month announcing A Symphony of Strength: Celebrating American Women From the quill-dipped hands of the Revolution to the keyboard clicks of Silicon Valley, American women have woven an indelible thread into the fabric of our nation. March, Women's History Month, isn't just a nod to the past; it's a vibrant celebration of the present and a bold stride toward the future, a symphony of strength played by generations of pioneering women. Even in the nation’s infancy, women were more than silent partners. Think of Abigail Adams, whose letters to her husband John were a masterclass in political philosophy, demanding, “Remember the ladies.” While not holding formal office, she shaped the discourse and demanded inclusion. As the frontier expanded, women like Sacagawea guided expeditions, their knowledge and resilience paving the way for westward expansion. As industry boomed, women like Madam C.J. Walker, a self-made millionaire, revolutionized the beauty industry, building an empire and empowering countless others. The 20th century roared with the voices of women refusing to be silenced. From Amelia Earhart, soaring across the Atlantic, defying gravity and societal expectations, to Katherine Johnson, whose calculations propelled astronauts into space, their contributions were astronomical. Women shattered glass ceilings in every field, from medicine and law to arts and sciences. In the business world, women have always been innovators. Estée Lauder, with her simple creams and unwavering vision, built a cosmetics empire that defined an era. In 1998, a young office equipment sales rep named Sara Blakely can't find anything to wear under a pair of tight fitting white pants. Everything she tries on makes her feel unattractive. In a moment of inspiration, she cuts off the feet of a pair of pantyhose, saving the outfit and the day. She realizes she's not the only woman who might like a product like this, so she takes her modest life savings and invents a product that changes an entire industry. Do you really need a co-founder? There's intense pressure in the startup world to find co-founders, but the data tells a surprising story. MIT research shows that solo founders are actually more than twice as likely to succeed compared to teams, while Harvard research reveals that 65% of high-potential startups fail due to co-founder conflict. In this episode, you'll learn how to make the right decision about co-founders for your business, based on data rather than pressure. Listen to learn: Why the "you must have a co-founder" narrative persists despite evidence showing solo founders often succeed What successful solo founders like Jeff Bezos, Sara Blakely, and Mailchimp founder Ben Chestnut did differently How to evaluate if you really need a co-founder for your specific business A practical framework for finding and testing potential co-founders if you decide you want one Whether you're a founder feeling pressured to find a co-founder, or an investor evaluating solo vs. co-founded companies, this episode will transform how you think about startup leadership and team building. In this lively episode of Western Fashion Behind the Scenes, Ashley Jackson interviews Shantelle Girard, the dynamic founder of Rancher Hat Bar, a rapidly expanding Western lifestyle brand. Shantelle shares her inspiring journey from crafting custom hats at her kitchen table to building a nationally recognized brand with seven locations and a devoted following. What began as a vintage camper turned traveling hat bar has evolved into brick-and-mortar stores across the U.S., including Folsom, Scottsdale, Denver, Waco, Dallas, and soon Nashville in early 2025. She also envisions Rancher Hat Bar as a global brand, with aspirations to expand internationally, starting with Canada. Shantelle emphasizes Rancher's commitment to blending fashion-forward designs with respect for Western roots, a reflection of her upbringing split between rural and urban influences. Her early memories of crafting jewelry on her family's turquoise-rich property in New Mexico and her teenage experiences at Country Thunder music festivals ignited her passion for Western fashion. Managing rapid growth hasn't been without challenges, from navigating state-specific regulations to running a business with a 50-member team, including operations, marketing, events, and retail staff. Shantelle credits her success to her team's dedication and her relentless focus on brand development, drawing inspiration from other female entrepreneurs like Sarah Blakely and Kimes Ranch founders. Her leadership style fosters collaboration, empowering women to thrive in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Listeners will love Shantelle's candid insights into the highs and hurdles of building a Western empire, her vision of Rancher Hat Bar as synonymous with cowboy hat customization, and her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs: stay driven, embrace challenges, and keep evolving. This episode celebrates the intersection of hard work, creativity, and community in the Western lifestyle space. Key Highlights: Shantelle's Journey: Began crafting custom hats at her kitchen table before launching Rancher Hat Bar in January 2023. Innovated the “traveling hat bar” concept using a vintage camper trailer, creating an interactive and vibrant customer experience. Opened the first Rancher Hat Bar store in Folsom, CA, followed by six more locations, including Scottsdale, Denver, Waco, Dallas, and upcoming Nashville (opening February 2025). Expansion Goals: Vision to have 15 locations by the end of 2025, with an international expansion starting in Canada (Calgary Rodeo is a key target). Challenges & Growth: Overcame hurdles in expansion, including state laws, permits, and operational complexities. Shantelle is highly hands-on, leading a team of over 50 employees, including an office team managing marketing, social media, events, and warehouse operations. Inspiration & Superpower: Passionate about brand development, having successfully built Rancher Hat Bar into a nationally recognized name in under two years. Influenced by trailblazing women like Sara Blakely and inspired by other Western industry entrepreneurs like Kimes Ranch. Personal Story: Grew up blending Western and modern influences, with deep ties to the Western lifestyle through family roots in turquoise mining and New Mexico ranch life. Shantelle's entrepreneurial spirit stems from a lineage of hardworking innovators, including her grandmother, Arizona's first female skateboard shop owner. Advice for Listeners: Stay persistent despite obstacles; each challenge is an opportunity to grow. Build a strong team that matches your energy and drive. Focus on creating a brand experience that resonates with customers while staying authentic to your roots.
