I've had the good fortune to collaborate with Charles on numerous films, including Sacred Economics and The Revolution Is Love, as well as spent time at Tamera's Love School and other gatherings. Our conversation for the Mythic Masculine (originally released as episode #8) touches on his own interview series on the “new story of masculinity” and what he learned along the way.The major theme, as named in the title, is the archetypal shift of seeing earth primarily as Mother to meeting her as a Lover. This perspective is influenced by the “ecosexual movement”, as Charles writes in his essay featured in the ecosexual anthology:If we have not received Earth's gifts with gratitude, if we have become so used to them that we keep taking more, obliviously, perhaps we might excuse ourselves by saying that we didn't know any better. There is a kind of innocence about the belief that Earth has no limit to what she can give. It is the innocence of a child, taking from its mother.[…] It is clear that we are finally hitting some limits. Our childlike innocence is coming, painfully, to an end, as we face the consequences of our despoliation of the earth and the necessity of no longer taking at will. The ecosexual awakening is a direct response to hitting these limits, the waning age of abundance and the ending of our civilization's childlike relationship to the Earth. We face the necessity of treating Earth not as a mother – a boundless provider of all we need and want – but as a lover, with whom we give and receive in equal measure. This perspective has particular urgency for masculinity, as modern society (based in domination culture) has abandoned proper rites of passage & mentorship for men to cultivate the skills of the archetypal Lover. This is one reason my focus over the last year has been offering exactly this, through Awakening the Wild Erotic (AWE) and The Deep Masculine online cohort.By gathering together as men, my collaborator Deus and I invite men to expand their understanding of Eros - the primary life force of the world - and surrender to its deep intelligence. When attuned to a lover, we can understand their desires, longings, and pleasure pathways. We can co-create a tapestry of beauty beyond our individual efforts. And perhaps this is what Earth is waiting for…As Charles continues in his essay:Like it or not, resist it or not, we are already ecosexual and even cosmosexual beings. We are in life, and life is in us. We are in the universe, and the universe is in us.Enjoy this listen. And I'd love to hear your comments & reflections below. [TW//Coercive Control & Abuse] Today, I welcome singer/songwriter Smilee. At 18, she entered a relationship with a man who was 24 years older which started off with a lovely holiday abroad only to be trapped in relationship with regular menacing threats, humiliation, manipulation, isolation, stalking, intimidation, gaslighting & even examples of financial and physical abuse. Unfortunately, Smilee's ordeal is far too common... 1 in 5 adults experience domestic abuse during their lifetime. This equates to: 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6-7 men. Coercive control is a crime (in The UK) & 95% of those prosecuted are male & 94% of cases escape conviction due to failures in the justice system & many victims do not tell anyone. Coercive control slowly hijacks your life - leaving the survivor isolated & dependant. It is a crime against your rights and resources so I thank Smilee for sharing her story to help others and she is undeniable proof that you can bounce back stronger and more resilient. Tommy Schultz, CEO of the American Federation for Children, joins James Poulos to discuss America's broken education system and what you can do about it. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the shortcomings and corruption in our education system. Students across the country saw declining reading and math skills, while teachers' unions used the lockdown to secure additional funding. Schultz argues that school choice is the key to increasing competition between public schools, charter schools, magnet schools, and private schools. By giving parents the ability to control their child's education, they are more likely to invest in their success. Outside public schools, classrooms are smaller and teachers are able to be transparent about the curriculum and culture in their classrooms, leading to fewer “woke teachers.” Is technology in the classroom distracting? Or can schools use edtech and AI to monitor students' progress? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

And of course the left is furious,They also chronicle the onslaught of anti-Semitism that is only intensifying on many college campuses - from students at the University of Washington calling for the end of Israel and Zionists to a Northwetern University professor cheering on and accommodating demonstrators who cut class to the terrifying scene at Cooper Union in New York City, where Jewish students had to be locked in the library to protect them from a pro-Hamas protest that was banging on the doors and screaming at them. Finally, they fume over the thoroughly predictable debt catastrophe that is already bad and about to get MUCH worse. Hope - is that the light at the end of tunnel? Please join us next Sunday in welcoming Scott and Laura Brookins as they share with us and update us on their mission work in Uganda. God has blessed this ministry for many years and Whispering Pines has had the privilege of seeing God working in their Voices of Love School, the Farming Project, the Women's Business Shop and the Bible Project. Jesus has clearly and repeatedly instructed us to spread the Good News not only in our own communities but throughout the world. “Go into the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.”” John 6:45. Most of us will never have the opportunity to disciple in foreign countries but we can none the less, through prayer and financial support impact the lives of others worldwide so that they too can know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Thank you, Sue Shelton/Missions
In the final episode of, “Love School,” we play with some visual representations of what an unrenewed mind looks like, what union with God looks like, and how our true identity and life purpose can be blind spots. We also talk about some practical ways to transcend the old man, reckon ourselves dead, and live out of our new identity in Christ, above our unrenewed minds. Other highlights include: How to become nonjudgmental about our judgments How (and why) we can love and honor people and stand for their true identity in Christ, even when they are acting out of their human nature (i.e., programs, triggers, behaviors) How to love the parts of ourselves that have yet to wake up to who we really are in Christ Being famous for love is our destiny. This teaching is intended to give you permission to rest in the love of God, stop playing the blame game, end the war within yourself, and give you a love for the human race, which has been proclaimed innocent by God, but is living ignorant of their union with Him. God’s love, His core nature, gets muddled up by religion, sin-consciousness, and our focus on what is wrong instead of what is right. Religion is based in judgment, in the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But love isn’t judgment-based, it’s judgment-free. Love is the ruling force of the universe. It’s unconditional, and it can’t be earned. In part 3 of, “Love School,” we examine the doctrine of inclusion, the timelessness of God, and the programmed judgment we all have. These, combined with 1 John 3 in the Mirror translation, help us understand what Jesus accomplished on the cross and how it leads to a life of unconditional love. What Jesus did was the undoing of a judgmental, right and wrong, self-righteous system. He is the verdict that puts all of humanity on the same level. All there is to do is hear the Gospel, believe it, and awaken to it. This episode is packed full of meat and revelation! A few highlights include: How our sin-based identity of performance, judgment, and the world system has been programmed into us from a young age The eternal perspective of God – the reconciliation of God & man has been complete since before the world was formed What the inclusion of humanity on the cross means, for believers and unbelievers This is the original Gospel. One died for all. Every single person is worthy of the blood of Jesus. It’s a subtle form of self-righteousness when we judge others as less worthy or in more need of redemption than we are. But, when we understand the timelessness of God, the totality of the finished works of the cross, and that sin is just a result of a distorted self-image, a separated and unrenewed mind, we begin to understand how to receive His unconditional love. And love is infectious – if you want to draw people to Jesus, it is through love, not judgment. Religion is based in judgment, in the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But love isn’t judgment-based, it’s judgment-free. Love is the ruling force of the universe. It’s unconditional, and it can’t be earned. In this first episode of, “Love School,” we see how love is the core of our being, and until we drop the lens of separation and really get that we are one with Love Itself, we’ll view Scripture as a list of to-dos, we’ll think love is something we have to do rather than who we are in Christ and what we get to receive and experience. Other revelations in this episode include: * God’s love is not predicated on anything we have done or will do. It is predicated on His choice * Our union with Jesus means we are fully accepted, without condition, and grafted into Christ * Self-righteousness is an illusion & an impossibility * Guilt and shame come from judging ourselves and others as conditionally loveable, instead of unconditionally loved * Fear of judgment is what drives us when we aren’t persuaded that we are loved unconditionally * Love flows from being loved * We have been restored to innocence We have to come to terms with the fact that we are unconditionally loved - always have been, always will be. When you understand that everyone, including you, has been reconciled to and is one with God, it will change the way you see everything. In part 2 of, “Love School,” we examine the parable of the prodigal son to really get a picture of what keeps us from receiving the Father’s unconditional love. Both sons, like most of us, were living under the illusion of separation from their father. Both were operating out of self-righteousness, independence, and judgment. The prodigal judged himself as unworthy of returning to his father’s house because of his sin. The elder brother judged himself as righteous and deserving of his inheritance, while judging his younger brother and being offended at the celebration thrown for him by their father. Through this parable we see that it is performance-based self-righteousness, independence, and judgment, of ourselves or others as worthy or unworthy, that hinder our experience of the Father’s unconditional love. And this is what Jesus came to abolish. We belong to God’s family because of Jesus, not because we are good, deserving, or worthy. Jesus is the reason we have access to sonship. We can’t earn the love of God, and we can’t squander it away. Rejection is simply not a godly principle. The proclamation of the Gospel is that God’s love is free, and it has been decided (without our participation or permission). It is a license to be loved. It is an invitation to the party, an invitation to be a son. So, let’s drop the judgment, put on the royal robes, and enjoy the party as we celebrate what God has done for us! Join Terri Lee-Shield from Love School in episode 18 of Love Fools as she explores the connection between love, money, codependacy & God and why trying to prove yourself to others never works to find love....or money.Love Fools on She Speaks where we explore the universal language of love, loving self, others & everything. In this episode Terri dives deeply into our condtioning to connect love with our ability to meet our needs, the root cause and condtioning of our codependant behaviours. In order to truely experience freedom, abundance and love in our lives we need to become free of the mental slavery that is codependancy. Codependency is the behaviour of externalising our validation, value and affirming our sense of self through other people. We need others to confirm we are worthy, valueable and reciprocate with love, attention, praise or money. This connection between being loved and having our needs met can stem from our very early experiences of infancy, linking our care from our mother, her acceptance of us to our need for the nuturing she provides. This core codpendant link is then transferred to money or relationships with others, partners or authorities as we grow. To become free from the conditioning, is to embody the truth of being a divine expression of life and God in our own right. As we transfer power away from others, an external source of money or a false sense of an external God and bring our power back to ourselves to validate and affirm our value, worth and lovability we heal. Allowing ourselves to experience abundance, freedom and master our creative experience. The only person we need to prove anything to in order to validate our worth, our decency our deserving is ourselves! To learn more about love, relationships & life join us at www.loveschool.ukFind support in your natural, holistic healing journey towards health, wellness and loving relationships.

Love Fools is hopelessly devoted to exploring and embodying the universal language of love. Love School we learn about loving self, others and everything. How is that principle applied to making changes in our lives? In the episode I explore why we stop going after our goals or fail to change even when the change helped us. Is it an act of self love to stop changing?I talk about the reasons why we stop progressing and making changes in our life and look at how we stop ourselves from making long term changes. The reality of positive change change might be better considered as and evolution of small, incremental changes towards our goals, like more love, or better health.

Hey ya'll! I'm soy happy you could tune in this week. When I went to school in Minnesota, some of my closest friends and I would always go around in a circle and talk about everyone's life, love and school. Since I had no energy to script anything too elaborate, I decided this would be the perfect time to incorporate life, love, school into a podcast. Overall I just talk about life updates and introduce a new segment at the end called That's Soy Pop Culture where I talk about everything I've lately been consuming in terms of media, so sit back and grab a cup of noodles to go with your soy sauce and hopefully enjoy this lighthearted poddie!

Can we heal the wounds of love and share lives of both dedication and erotic adventure? Today’s guest, Sabine Lichtenfels, cofounder of Tamera, has dedicated her life to this question. Tamera is a world famous community and peace research center in Southern Portugal which hosts the Global Love School, a program that radically reimagines romance and relationships. Though often referred to as polyamorous, when the people of Tamera speak of Free Love, what they mean is love free from fear. On the show Sabine and I discuss the wounds of love and how patriarchal power structures and the fear of loss lead to a battle between the sexes. We explore the different aspects of the Love School, including “Forum” a social technology for honesty in relationships and the Love Temple, where trauma can be released through art and ritual. Finally we talk about how a dedication to healing Eros became a pilgrimage for peace. Sabine is an author, a speaker, and a peace activist. She is the co-founder of Tamera along with her life partner Dr. Dieter Duhm where she leads the Love School and the department for spiritual ecology, Terra Deva. In 2005 she initiated the first of many “Grace Pilgrimages,” where she guides people from different backgrounds into an experience of radical reconciliation. This is an emergency call to end the War on Love and find a life of adventure and play in the process. Today’s topic is a challenging one. A few weeks ago, numerous allegations surfaced regarding sexual misconduct by two prominent male musicians in the festival world: Lorin Ashton (ie Bassnectar) and Nahko, who I interviewed on this podcast last month. At the time of the allegations I decided to remove that podcast from my catalogue pending an accountability process. To make sense of this cultural moment, I invited my good friend and mentor in men’s work, Ian Mackenzie, back to the podcast to explore the theme of sexual predation through an archetypal lens. On the show, Ian offers a mythopoetic understanding of patterns of abuse in our culture specifically through the archetype of the Addicted Lover. We discuss restorative justice and the challenges of applying it to cases like this. We talk about our modern lack of the village, and the importance of initiating young men to understand the consequences of their actions. We discuss Cancel Culture as a kind of exiling that doesn’t serve to heal the wounds of predation or allow our communities to truly learn from our mistakes. Finally we look at the parts of ourselves that we wish to exile and the perils of losing intimacy with our darkest places. This conversation is simply two men wondering aloud about the causes of and solutions to sexual abuse. This is by no means an exhaustive analysis and we welcome any feedback to our conversation in the Life is a Festival Facebook group. There are also two prominent women in our community, Tina Malia and Elana Meta, who have written very powerful and public Facebook posts on this subject which are linked to in the show notes. It is the humility of the failed hero that allows him to truly connect with his brothers. My man Ian has a new podcast called The Mythic Masculine. It’s a bimonthly exploration of myth, culture and the emerging masculine archetypes. On today’s episode of Life is a Festival I’m sharing our conversation from Episode 5 of his show titled The Boy Hero Must Die. If you’ve been following my story, this conversation picks up where we left off in Episode 18 of Life is a Festival where I shared my Rite of Passage initiating with the Bwiti people in Gabon and the plant medicine iboga. On today’s show, we explore the aftermath of that self-authored hero’s journey and the Sisyphean task of the ego attempting to surpass itself. We discuss the Mythopoetic Mens Movement and the idea of using masculine archetypes for personal development, particularly the paradox of the hero archetype. We explore masculinity as non-universal, we discuss the troubles with building brands around mens work, and we share tools to cultivate a culture of trust amongst men. Ian MacKenzie is a writer, documentary filmmaker and now a podcaster. You can check out his writing on Medium (I really loved “Home is Wherever I’m With You — And Other Modern Calamities”). He produced the films Occupy Love in 2012, Amplify Her in 2017 and the forthcoming documentary Love School about the polyamorous community Tamera in Portugal. If you’d like to learn more about the philosophy of Tamera and how they are teaching love free from fear, check out the interview Ian did with Tamera co-founder Benjamin von Mendelssohn on Episode 5 of the Mythic Masculine. From our speaking tour in Australia, to lounging at Bass Coast in Canada, I have had many edifying conversations with this brilliant man and I’m honored to share this one with you. Benjamin von Mendelssohn is a longtime resident of Tamera peace research village in Portugal, which for the last 5 years has been the focus of a documentary I'm co-directing titled Love School. Benjamin is co-leader of the Global Love School, as well as the director of The Grace Foundation which aims to heal our collective relationship to money. I first met Benjamin actually in my own kitchen, back when a friend asked on his behalf for a place to stay for a stop on his North American tour. At the time, I didn't know much about Tamera, though we said hello and I continued on with my day. It was a year later in 2014 when I encountered Benjamin again at the Findhorn community in Scotland for The New Story Summit- he was attending as a speaker along with a few other Tamerans from his community, and it was then I recognized they were carrying an entirely different field of being. I was invited to Tamera to make a short film about their research in healing love and sexuality, and in 2015, after my marriage ended, I knew it was time to visit. That journey began a love story with the community and a deepening relationship with Benjamin who I am now grateful to call a friend and a mentor. In this episode, we discuss his first experiences coming to Tamera, what he had to unlearn as a man, and why truth in love is the foundation of a healed culture. John Wolfstone is a filmmaker, wilderness rites-of-passage guide, and sacred clown focused on the work of cultural redemption. Over the past 10 years, he has been in service toward restorative justice, ancestral healing and peace building in conflict zones from rural Guatemalan villages, to Middle Eastern refugee camps and inner cities of the United States. In 2015, John and I began work on our feature documentary Love School, exploring the radical research community of Tamera in southern Portugal. Since then, we have been on a deep journey of collaboration and brotherhood - complete with many bumps along the way. I am happy to have John in my studio today, where we discuss the his own rite of passage - through the lens of catastrophic personal heartbreak, which catapulted him on a journey into the underworld and back again. We speak about men's sexuality, the gateway of grief, and the perspective that we are now in a time of planetary initiation. PART II is available as a bonus hour via my Patreon page. Tamera aims to build a nonviolent culture through the integration of eros (life force) — by building communities of trust, transparency, and solidarity between genders, reawakening the power of the village in human communities, and offering a pathway toward a regenerative future for all of humanity and the living world. By addressing the underlying alienation, disfunction, and trauma inherent in the dominant culture’s conditioning of human relationships (with each other, non-human life, and the land) through over forty years of community experimentation, Tamera provides a stunning example of what is most needed in our time of converging global crises. Ian’s shares his personal experiences of how he came to this healing biotope Tamera, and what motivates his desire to spread the message of this ongoing experiment in human healing and relationship with the rest of the world. Ian MacKenzie is an award-winning filmmaker, author, and speaker. [INTRO: 12:34 | OUTRO: 1:29:24] In this episode, I speak with visionary documentary filmmaker Ian MacKenzie. We discuss his two most recent projects: ‘Love School’ — an ongoing film project, made in collaboration with John Wolfstone and Julia Maryanska, that explores the revolutionary research village and healing biotope Tamera in Portugal; and Ian's recently released short film ‘Lost Nation Road’ — which follows culture activist and author Stephen Jenkinson and Canadian musician Gregory Hoskins on their unlikely collaboration with the ‘Nights of Grief and Mystery’ tour. “In the Oak-dotted countryside of Southern Portugal lies the Tamera Healing Biotope, one of Earth’s most radical social experiments in human futurism.”* In this discussion with Ian, we discuss his ongoing collaborative project ‘Love School,’ a film that delves deeply into the revolutionary work the community of Tamera, which aims to build a nonviolent culture through the integration of eros (life force) — by building communities of trust, transparency, and solidarity between genders, reawakening the power of the village in human communities, and offering a pathway toward a regenerative future for all of humanity and the living world. In the latter part of this discussion, Ian ties the work with ‘Love School’ with his recently released short film ‘Lost Nation Road,’ which follows the ongoing collaboration of culture activist, writer, and orator Stephen Jenkinson and musician Gregory Hoskins, as expressed in ‘Nights of Grief and Mystery’ tour. “These are nights in which love letters to life are written and read aloud. There’s some boldness in them. They have that tone. These nights have the mark of our time upon them, and they’re timely, urgent, alert, steeped in mortal mystery. They’re quixotic. They have swagger. What would you call such a thing? We call them Nights of Grief and Mystery.”** Ian MacKenzie is an award-winning filmmaker, author, and speaker. The most important political revolution of our time may be connected to how we love, at least that’s what the erotic visionaries of the Tamera community in Portugal believe. According to Tamera, the revolutionary peace research eco village in Portugal, liberating love from fear violence and lies is the root solution for a true system change. Today on the podcast, I’m speaking with Ian MacKenzie and Julia Maryanska about their upcoming documentary Love School: The Film about Tamera’s radical work in healing sex, love, and the relationship between genders. We discuss Tamera’s Love School and the powerful ritual called “The Forum” where participants can dis-identify with personal challenge and see it as a collective issue within a wider cultural context. We talk about Free Love as love free from fear, how jealousy is not love, and how the healing of the world requires a radical commitment to community. Ian MacKenzie is a filmmaker, writer, and activist who has spent over 10 years tracking and amplifying stories of emergent culture. His films include Occupy Love, Amplify Her, and now Love School. Julia is a filmmaker who has worked on numerous award-winning documentaries. Her work re-imagines how we look at women’s bodies, relationships and our approach to sensuality through video poetry, her other film UNION and her photographic project “Sensual Surrealism.” Along with their co-director John Wolfstone, Julia and Ian are part of the filmmaker collective Re/Culture Films. School bond measures almost always pass. More money for schools – and by extension, kids – seems like an obvious yes. But less attention is given to how that bond money gets spent and who is on the receiving end. One powerful lobbying group, nicknamed CASH, helps school districts get bonds passed. But critics say the arrangement is short-changing schools – and taxpayers. Where does the food come from that we feed our kids in schools? Laura Benavidez, Executive Director ofFood and Nutrition Services for the Boston Public Schools, discusses a program she’s spearheadingaimed at transforming how food is sourced, prepared, and served throughout Boston’s public schools.Currently, most of the food is prepared in New Jersey, frozen, and transported to Boston. “We’re going torevolutionize how we feed kids,” says Benavidez. Jill Shah, serial entrepreneur and president of the ShahFamily Foundation, is providing the funding to build school kitchens in the 75% of schools who do nothave them so that meals can be prepared on-site with fresh ingredients. Eventually the program, whichhas the support of the Mayor, will be expanded throughout the district and impact 57,000 kids. Theultimate goal is to create a blueprint for other school districts to replicate its success. “We’re more thanhappy to share [what we’ve learned] throughout the country,” says Shah. The ultimate judges of that success are the kids who are thriving on the fresh food prepared in the newkitchens. Students are given a choice from a menu of healthy options. “Kids are choosing what they eatand they’re going to eat what they choose,” says Benavidez. The kids are even embracing vegetables.Shah relates a story about walking into the cafeteria at one of the schools in the program. “There was thisquiet hum, and every kid was leaned over a tray eating, happily. That’s not how a lunch room in a publicschool usually is!,” she exclaimed. In addition to this overwhelming anecdotal success, they are funding astudy to gather data on how the program is affecting educational outcomes. This ongoing research willinform continuing improvement of the program. “Some of it is important to measure with studies, but someof it is just a vibe that you feel when you walk in to a place,” concludes Shah.Listen and learn about an innovative program that is transforming the way kids interact with healthy foodat school.
