Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim. And of course the left is furious,They also chronicle the onslaught of anti-Semitism that is only intensifying on many college campuses - from students at the University of Washington calling for the end of Israel and Zionists to a Northwetern University professor cheering on and accommodating demonstrators who cut class to the terrifying scene at Cooper Union in New York City, where Jewish students had to be locked in the library to protect them from a pro-Hamas protest that was banging on the doors and screaming at them. Finally, they fume over the thoroughly predictable debt catastrophe that is already bad and about to get MUCH worse. Movie description - While fleeing from dangerous assailants, an assassin comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she left earlier in life.My thoughts - Yet another vanity project for Lopez, this time as an action hero with fur coats, and the same hair and makeup in pretty much every scene, even if the scenes are 12 years apart. This film needed a more versatile actress, one that would lose the long hair locks and have it messed up, one that could handle - and look convincing, with some dirt and scratches on her face, one who can show some facial expressions relevant to each scene, not the constant "ya I'm tough" expressionless look and tone.Next we have a story that took three prolific writers who've written some great films and series in the past, to come up with a monotonous, repetitive, cliched and underwhelming screenplay with bits from many better films in this genre. The poorly paced nearly two-hour runtime felt much longer with many dragged out, unnecessary and predictable scenes. You know exactly what's going to happen, and you waste time watching it happen stretched out for so long, you can just fast-forward and not miss a thing. Top that all off with a director that decided to use a blurred fish-eye lens effect in some scenes, I thought I was having migraine episodes.Had a more convincing actress been cast, it may have made the dull filmmaking a little more bearable, but combined all together, it's not the gift any mom would want for Mother's Day. It's a pass from me, and a very generous 6/10 ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

“Honey, I'd like you to meet Alyssa.”I extended my hand and Alyssa smiled as she shook it. “It's nice to meet you, Candice, I've heard so much about you.” Dad's phone buzzed. “Please excuse me, I have to take this.” Alyssa nodded and Dad left the room. Alyssa suddenly leaned towards me. “If you don't do as I say I'll make your life a living nightmare.” Hi there, I'm Candice from Ireland. When I was three Mom passed away from an illness and it's been just Dad and me ever since. Dad and I were very close. He always treated me like his little princess and we'd get manis and pedis together, go to the movies, he'd even set up my dolls and stuffed animals and we'd pretend that we were runway models. When I was 15, Dad introduced me to his girlfriend, Alyssa, and six months later they were married. She did and said all the right things when Dad was around. “Ethan, I think it's time Candice got her own computer.” or “I think Candice and I should have a girls day out!” Hosted on Acast. “Hurry up and get yourself ready for church!”“We're going to be late again because of you! Pastor Mac doesn't like when we're late!”My parents both screamed like we were somewhere being chased by tigers. What was so urgent or important about church anyway? I mean I understood that it was important to some people but there was something seriously wrong with “our” church. I put on my dress and ran down the stairs without bothering to comb my hair.“You look like a wet cat!” my mom continued screaming.“God loves the animals. Leave me alone. Let's just go already.”Later we pulled up to our megachurch with its golden doors and diamond chandeliers.“We will start today's service with the offering! Remember that you will get one hundred times the amount you receive, so give generously! The Lord loves a cheerful giver!”Now where was I. Thankfully, I didn't have to go through that torture for much longer because Pastor Mac was involved in a huge scandal and my parents decided that we shouldn't go to that church anymore. Listen to what he says about his kids and leaving something behind. His insight about leading from a position of isolation is powerful. Joe sees a lot of leaders asking the same questions, that often have answers, but that everyone is asking in their own bubbles. Joe recommends balance in your emotional state when making decisions. You have to hear what he says about the highs and lows of school leadership. Joe talked about better student ownership through adult learning. When adults like what they're learning, they're more likely to translate that for kids. When it comes to “resources,” Joe says that teachers and leaders should have a core group to go to for reflection and support. Don't miss what Joe says about amplifying your school's message. Joe's final message about treating everything like it matters is inspiring. _____________________________________ Thanks for listening to FocusED, an educational leadership podcast brought to you by TheSchoolHouse302 @ theschoolhouse302.com where we publish free leadership content. INTRO Oona Alexander is a leading UK parenting expert, helping exasperated parents radically love their children to happiness and naturally great behaviour, so that the whole family can experience the joy of a calm, happy home. . In today's episode .... Oona and I talked about how exasperating it can be as a parent to connect with them, whereas what we really want is for them to be happy and we don’t want constant battles with them. The first thing Oona says is that we need to be compassionate with ourselves because the only experience we probably have is being parented ourselves. If you want to learn how you can do things differently, then tune in to this episode as there are lots of handy tips here. About Oona Oona Alexander Why do I do this work? It all started with my Irish Aunty Bunty, a fountain of love and tea. “Come in! Come in!” Her farmhouse table is piled high with china teacups, cake and scones. As we children chatter, she smiles. Her smile is my safe harbour. I feel bubbles of excitement: It’s ok to be me, after all. I make a decision about my life: I will be kind like her, and go around creating safe harbours so everyone can feel: It’s ok to be me. At home in London, it’s not always ok to be me. I’m three, eating fish fingers and peas. My father is standing in his suit and tie, reading my mother’s letter to me. “Grandma and Grandpa send their love.” The cold green peas roll round the plate. I feel my insides draining down, down through my tummy. Mummy-ache. Mummy and Daddy, amused, tell me: “You were a mistake… Mummy was furious when she found out she was pregnant with you.” I try to do my best to make up for past events. I make sure my legs are always firmly together, as my mother has shown me. I try to look pretty, sucking in my round cheeks in the mirror. I try to be quiet, but not too quiet, or I’m mumbling and that’s not good. Crying, because I'm going back to boarding school later, I'm told off for being like Grandma, who was mentally ill and spent her life worrying instead of enjoying herself. I do well at school and I get my 2:1 from Oxford. Friends go off to their jobs in publishing and media. My kindness project starts. I’m kind to children, first caring for them, then teaching maths and English, then telling them stories. Joy of joys, I have my own child. Acres of room to practice kindness. I don't always get it right. My son hits me with his building planks, and I lose it, throwing the planks out of the back door. I haven’t quite mastered kindness yet. I meet wise women whose understanding of kindness makes every cell in my body flip. I sit studiously with them in various European capitals, my ears like jug handles. What if parents around the world knew THIS? I lead groups for more than a decade - inspired by the wise women - practicing kindness with hundreds of families. At home, I’m changing, too. Kinder. We have happy school runs, mealtimes, bedtimes… hugs and laughter… he tells me everything. I am the mum I want to be. On the journey to kindness, I become the one who is curious about what a three-year-old with mummy-ache is really feeling. I develop laser vision for why a six-year-old out of the blue, lashes out at his sister. I understand how to help a nine-year-old who’s scared of being snatched in the night. I help parents be the ones who dare to reach into their children’s souls and wrap them in words that hold them while allowing the ache, rage, or fear to be there. I listen to my own pain, too. I wrap my arms kindly around myself, giving old wounds space, time and attention. Until they aren't there anymore. I have become my own safe harbour and I know: it’s ok to be me. I want to live in a world where all parents feel “It’s ok to be me”. They don’t lie awake at night, worrying about how it went with the children. they no longer saying to themselves “You're no good at this. This shouldn’t be happening.” Instead, they enjoy each moment with their children. Feeling comfortable at the school gates. And being in their body, where their children are - playful, light, happy, and accepting. I want to live in a world where all children feel “It’s ok to be me”. They feel: “Whatever I do, I feel loved. Whatever my parents say, I feel their love. We have fun together. Even when they say ‘No’, I feel loved. They understand me. So I know it’s ok to be me.” …………………………. Imagine for a moment: A world where all parents and all children feel: “It’s ok to be me.” Because they’ve discovered the power of kindness. I want that world. Parents and children being who they truly are. And knowing: It’s ok to be me. 25 years guiding hundreds of families as a class teacher, family-learning leader, storyteller, parent-and-child-group leader, and parenting mentor; Pikler expert; Parent educator: the Nurturing Programme; Certified Clear Beliefs Coach; Voice Dialogue Facilitator; Early Years Professional Status: Postgraduate qualification; Co-founder of the Pikler UK Association; BA Oxford University, French and History Diploma in Waldorf/Steiner Education. Who would have thought I needed a sleep coach with no longer having babies and toddlers? Well, with the move and Leilani having worry/concern for me leading up to my surgery, we started a habit of bed sharing, which first started in hotel stays. This is when I reached out to none other than Whitney Weber, a certified sleep coach, for help in getting Leilani back into her own bed. Becky Getz and I originally had this conversation just weeks into the quarantine! We had no idea just how impactful this message would be to so many people!Becky Getz and her husband David knew from their 18 week ultrasound that their son Zachary would need medical intervention, but from that moment, Zachary would continue to surprise the doctors and his family. God was very faithful to this family and God and their community became the rock they leaned on during Zach's life and after his death. Becky and I talk about Zach's story, the decisions they made, and the different ways that God has shown up at every step. We discuss why community is so important and how they can continue to serve after the loss of Zach.Show NotesEpisode originally aired April 21, 2020Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/journeyofruth)

Mom, dad, & guardians, you have to love yourself enough to be you. This allows you the capacity to fill your children/teens with love. And they will see in you the need to love themselves. Not in a selfish way, but in a manner that allows them to shine the light of God's love through their actions and their words. It also enhances how they see themselves, thus improving their self-image.Note, we have a parenting workshop/webinar "From Family Streesed To Family Best." Key Thoughts from the Interview: “In the absence of knowledge, people make it up.” Joe provides incredible insight on the power of branding and why schools need to embrace telling their story. Learn how Joe creates connections and forces engagement. We’ll forgive him for his comments regarding the Philadelphia Eagles. A powerhouse of inspiration, Joe mentions that Inky Johnson is a person he can listen to every day. If you don’t know Inky’s story, don’t let another minute go by! Within the world of education, Joe also mentions that he “leans into” Jimmy Casas and Tom Murray and we couldn’t agree more. Interestingly, Joe discussed the one thing that we should be doing every day is listening more. He powerfully describes how he often gets caught up in the “next thing” and can overlook the moment. You have to hear what he also says about doing something a little scary. Listen to what he says about reading. It’s awesome and totally about immersion and engagement. With whom do you surround yourself? Are you around individuals who push you to another level? Joe describes how to grow, find out just how simple it is if you are actually willing. Joe’s final response on what he used to believe is a great example of doing what makes a difference versus doing things you think make a difference. Joe’s interview is a practical how-to interview. His suggestions on telling your story are simple yet profound. The story he tells of the young man bagging groceries is what it is all about. Please follow, like, and comment. Parents LOVE to share photos of their kids. Kids are cute, funny and the grandparents want to see their every move. But is there a price to pay for letting the world have access to our kid's images...(and if you share them on any social media site you are sharing them with the world). YES! Here are just a few ... 1. 50% of the images used on pedophilia sites are stolen from social media sites. Often they photoshopped into very sexual images. Uhhmm creepy! 2. Digital kidnapping. This is where someone decides that they like your child, create a profile using their name and either pretend to the child or parent in the comments. Don't believe me.. check out #littlegirlrp (rp means Role Play, they are roleplaying that your kid is theirs) Many of the comments and tags are sexual and downright disturbing. 3. Digital DNA. This is a term that is now being used to describe your legacy and life online. Since facial recognition software is so commonly used now your child entire life will easily be searched by universities, employers and bullies alike. Nice to have Toni back in the studio. Her 'no bones' approach to raising children is always refreshing. Turn the phone off, tough love, parental delinquency, and village mentality are all touched upon in the podcast. Looking forward to having her on CLATN next. I do enjoy laughing and interviewing her. What a trip.
