From suspicion, to siege, to collaboration, to all out war - in this episode we uncover the complex reality of the Jamestown colonists' relationship with the Indigenous peoples of the East Coast. What were their first impressions of one another? How did the Powhatan view their dynamic with the British settlers? And how crucial were figures like John Smith, Pocahontas, and John Rolfe to this story?Don is joined once again by Mark Summers, Educational Director of Youth and Public Programmes for Jamestowne Rediscovery. They explore the shifting alliances, conflicts, and consequences that shaped early colonial America, with the help of discoveries made by archaeologists at Jamestown.Produced and edited by Sophie Gee. In May 1607, over 100 English settlers arrived at Chesapeake Bay on the East Coast of North America. Traveling 50 miles inland along the James River, they established what would become the first permanent English settlement: Jamestown. But what motivated their journey? Why was Chesapeake Bay their chosen destination? And how much do we know about their voyage. For this first of four episodes, Don is joined by Mark Summers, Educational Director of Youth and Public Programmes for Jamestowne Rediscovery. Don and Mark explore the roles of the Virginia Company, the British crown and individuals like Captains John Smith and Christopher Newport. From mutiny at sea to sealed instructions, this is the first step in a journey that echoes to this day.Produced and edited by Sophie Gee. In this episode of MF Uncensored, hosts Paul and Sean discuss the follow-up to their most viewed episode regarding the toxic culture of Nickelodeon in the late 90s and early 2000s. They touch on the alleged sexual assault by Brian Peck, the working environment created by Dan Schneider, and the repercussions of a culture that allowed child predators to thrive. The episode also addresses issues raised in 'Quiet on the Set', a series detailing these accusations, and the aftermath of its airing, including Drake Bell's revelations and the public's reaction. They highlight the importance of discussing such topics to bring about change and acknowledge the complexities of Hollywood's treatment of child actors. The conversation delves into personal reactions, the role of the network, and the potential long-term impacts on all involved, emphasizing the need for systemic change in the industry. 00:00 Welcome to MF Uncensored: Where to Listen and What to Expect 00:30 Introducing Today's Special Guest: Sean 00:56 Diving Deep into Nickelodeon's Dark Side: Quiet on the Set Part 2 02:42 Reactions and Revelations: The Impact of Quiet on the Set 06:10 The Aftermath: Legal and Personal Consequences for Involved Parties 08:35 Hollywood's Silence and the Ongoing Struggle for Accountability 13:42 Reaching Out: The Complex Web of Support and Betrayal 17:08 Behind the Scenes: The Pressure on Child Stars 17:55 The Amanda Bynes Incident: A Closer Look 18:04 Addressing Racism and Cast Reactions 18:30 Drake Bell's Perspective and Amanda Bynes' Journey 18:57 The Unsettling Reality of Child Stardom 19:52 Navigating Fame and Its Challenges 20:47 Revelations from Former Nickelodeon Stars 21:54 Shane Lyons' Uncomfortable Experiences 23:25 The Impact of the Documentary on Personal Relationships 24:12 Mark Summers' Unexpected Involvement 27:00 Reflecting on Nickelodeon's Culture and the Need for Change 28:58 Hoping for Positive Outcomes from the Documentary

His early passion was for football, and he played halfback at Florida State University. He was part Cherokee. He had an often turbulent career that spanned some 100 films and countless television appearances. He had a volatile temperament, but he himself projected an air of nonchalance and professed not to take his career too seriously. He was a self-mocking charmer with laugh-crinkled dark eyes, a distinctive mustache and a hairy chest. A funny thing happened on the way to this week's Software Process and Measurement Cast, I was asked about managing risk in Agile. In preparation for answering the question, I reviewed and updated some of my work on the topic. So instead of flow metrics, we have an essay on risk. That is just the chance you take when you ask me a question. Note -- I have a great question on risk to ask Susan Parente, @techriskmanager, the next time we record. We also have a visit from Tony Timbol. Tony discusses agile requirements in an installment of his To Tell A Story column. Check out Tony at http://tonytimbol.com/ Re-read Saturday News! If you've listened to sports radio in Alberta anytime in the last three decades, you probably know Bryn Griffiths. He's been positively prolific in covering the NHL and CFL teams in the area since the 90's- which is around when I met him.Bryn joins us from Edmonton this week to talk about his lifelong passion for sports and broadcasting, and fair warning, this episode is a big one. We begin by exploring why he got into radio, and my jealousy over the fact that different time zones allowed Bryn to catch Monday Night Football as a kid without staying up past his bedtime. We continue into stories about his career in radio, his favourite interviews, the usual sports talk, and of course, a long chat about the current state of sports radio (and radio in general). As you might expect from someone who's been the rockstar of Albertan sports radio for the last 30-odd years, Bryn also drops a metric ton of broadcasting wisdom throughout this episode. From how to tell a story, to what makes certain radio and TV shows feel special, and much, much more. Quite honestly, this is a tricky one to summarize, because we just talk about so much- but it's all worth hearing, I promise. Bryn is an endless font of wisdom for any aspiring radio star.If you don't believe me, listen to the kind words of "The Wiz" and two-time guest on this podcast, Marty Forbes:"We built something that I think the industry needs, and that is what we call one stop podcasting. And what I hear from everybody is, 'Geez, I really would like to do one of these things. I don't have the time and I don't have the wherewithal,' but they have the knowledge... Well, Bryn has all the parts that you need, and all he needs is knowledge. So he's built... a complimentary service so that guys can use podcasting for pure commercial intent and backgrounding for their businesses. So he's very good at it... It's a neat template that's rather unique, and (he) has built this template to be really profitable and meaningful in his life, that he's now doing something he really enjoys. He's a great guy to talk to."Nowadays, Bryn is the Director of Podcast and Audio Production at Road 55, a production house in Edmonton that works with you every step of the way to help you create the best version of whatever content you want to make. If that sounds appealing, you can check out their website here. For another interesting little tidbit, check out this YouTube channel belonging to Mark Summers. He's saved all the air checks from a ton of Edmonton radio stations, and they're definitely a fun listen. If you'd like to keep up with Bryn, you can follow him on Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn.A thanks to the people who support the show each week and allow it arrive on your phones for free.Matt Fogarty VoiceoversNLogic: TV & radio advertising and audience data solutionsMegatrax - Licensed Music for your radio station or podcast production company.Click here for a transcript of this episodeSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

More information can be found here: http://whatisagilecoaching.org/agile-coaching-growth-wheel/ https://resources.scrumalliance.org/Article/agile-coaching-growth-wheel Also, Mark Summers and Bob have collaborated with Comparative Agility to create an Agile Coaching PI (Personal Improvement) assessment that is free. In the early years of the 17th Century, religious warfare was raging in Europe and England was struggling with various reform factions that caused deep divisions and violence. Recent archaeological evidence from Jamestown suggests that the Colony was far more religiously diverse than previously realized and those divides had an enormous impact on the shape of the Colony's politics and governing principles. Our host, John Ericson, will explore this history with guest speaker Mark Summers.Mark Summers is the Director of Public and Youth Programming at Jamestowne Rediscovery. Summers has an expertise in the English Reformation with a focus on how the religious divides in England carried over to the first permanent English Settlement in Virginia. Summers has an undergraduate degree in History from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a Master's from the University of Mississippi. Intro and outro created by Thomas Fosdick. Project supported by a grant from Virginia Humanities.

This week Darbi and Taz do a bad job remembering the premise of Nickelodeon's "Double Dare" but a damn fine job of recalling Mark Summers luscious locks, before deciding exactly what the show would need to be rebooted these days. Hint: it involves cheap booze and a shower head. https://patreon.com/disappearingpants
