Get ready for an action-packed, thought-provoking, and at times, contentious episode as the brothers tackle the 1998 thriller "Mercury Rising," starring the indomitable Bruce Willis! In this explosive film, Willis takes on the role of a fiercely libertarian and patriotic character—a running theme in many of his '90s movies. He's a man who doesn't place much trust in government institutions, but there's a twist: he's part of the FBI. It's a contradiction that sparks intrigue, particularly because Milenko finds themself deeply uncomfortable with the portrayal of an autistic child, played brilliantly by Miko Hughes. The plot is a rollercoaster of political intrigue and heart-pounding action. Bruce's character is haunted by a traumatic incident from his past, where a child he had grown close to during an undercover mission to combat extreme white nationalist violence was shot. The guilt and powerlessness he feels are palpable.Fast forward to the present, and Bruce stumbles upon a sinister plot to murder the savant child, portrayed by Miko Hughes, who possesses an extraordinary talent for solving puzzles. He deciphers a hidden message in a seemingly ordinary puzzle book, leading to a nerve-wracking hotline call. This sets off a chain reaction that leaves two NSA nerds in a tizzy and their boss, played by Alec Baldwin, ordering the unthinkable—a hit on the child's entire family, staged as a murder-suicide.But the kid escapes, and Bruce becomes his guardian, unable to trust anyone, not even his own agency. The movie is, in a word, outrageous. It's a wild ride of suspense, absurdity, and unexpected twists that keeps the audience guessing at every turn.Within this episode, the brothers embark on a truly intriguing conversation, navigating the complex terrain of "Mercury Rising," dissecting its portrayal of autism, its political themes, and its overall absurdity. It's a discussion that promises to be as engaging as the movie itself, and you won't want to miss it! On this edition of Parallax Views, it's spooky season and we're getting into the Halloween spirit! Cecil Laird of the Youtube channel The Horror Show joins the show to tell us about his fan film, DYLAN'S NEW NIGHTMARE. A sequel to the surprisingly innovative 1994 meta-horror NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET entry WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE, DYLAN'S NEW NIGHTMARE isn't your average fan film. In addition to being made with a rather professional crew and having a slick, pro look, the movie also features a starring turn from Miko Hughes aka Heather Langenkamp's son Dylan in WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE (and also horror royalty due to his childhood turn as the killer toddler Gage in Mary Lambert's adaptation of Stephen King's PET SEMATARY). It tells the story of Dylan's trauma and struggles 30 years after being haunted by The Entity that took the form of horror icon Freddy Krueger in WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE. Dylan is trying to make a career in acting, but The Entity is returning in the form of Freddy Krueger slowly but surely to haunt him. Cecil and I discuss DYLAN'S NEW NIGHTMARE, the possibility of a sequel, our favorite NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies, and much, much more!
It’s hard to deny that Nightmare on Elm Street creator Wes Craven was WAY ahead of his time. Here was a horror director, a genre icon, that realized that horror had become such a parody of itself that it practically opened up an entirely new sub-genre that not only appealed to the fans, but recognized their own self-awareness. This was never more evident than in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. A non-sequel sequel that was so “meta” that one has to actually see it to believe that it actually got made (yes, Robert Englund plays himself alongside Heather Langenkamp dong the same). Probably the smartest film in the series, it is often recognized for its huge intellectual leap forward, yet rarely gets the recognition of the other entries in the series. That is, until now. Fan and filmmaker Cecil Laird has announced that he will be moving forward with “Dylan’s New Nightmare”. A Nightmare on Elm Street fan film that brings back original star Miko Hughes to reprise his role in a continuation of New Nightmare. Obviously excited as hell about the news we took the opportunity to talk to Cecil about all things Nightmare AND the crowdfunding campaign to make it all possible.

The sixth episode of our season on the awesome movie year of 1994 features Josh’s personal pick, Wes Craven’s meta-horror movie New Nightmare. Written and directed by Craven and starring Heather Langenkamp, Miko Hughes, Robert Englund, Tracy Middendorf, David Newsom and Craven himself, New Nightmare was the seventh film in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, and the first to be directed by Craven since the 1984 original. The post New Nightmare (1994 Josh’s Pick) appeared first on Awesome Movie Year.
Listen along to the Rants From the Black Lodge Podcast as the dig up the beloved big screen adaptation of Stephen King's Pet Sematary. However, to properly celebrate the film's 30th Anniversary we had to call in for reinforcements and the call was answered by everyone's favorite lil slice of roadkill, Miko Hughes aka Gage Creed. This episode is a good one so, sit back, laugh and learn about all things Stephen King and Pet Sematary with Brandon and Stankdik Eddy.Note: We experienced a few audio glitches during the recording of this episode so a few seconds were trimmed here and there to fix these issues. Because of this, if you choose to watch the film along with the commentary the syncing maybe slightly off but not to a degree that will ruin the experience.Host: Brandon A. Sometimes READ is better. Tony and Matt used the remake of Pet Sematary as an excuse to return to the source: Stephen King's haunting 1983 novel. The guys go deep into what was scariest about the book and how both movies -- 1989's adaptation by Mary Lambert and 2019's remake/readaptation by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch -- tried with varying degrees of success to turn a father's slow decent into grief-stricken madness into creature features. Which version of Church the cat did we like best? Who was the better sitcom goof-turned-exposition-dropping-Mainer, Dick from 3rd Rock or Herman Munster? Ayuh, they answer these questions and more in this week's What Did We Miss?
The person you put up there ain't the person that comes back. Actor Miko Hughes and Academy Award nominated makeup artist John Blake join host Natasha Pascetta to remember their work on PET SEMATARY in this dual episode. Miko recounts his portrayal of Gage Creed, the scene that really freaked him out, and the endearing quality of the movie. John talks about taking inspiration from DEAD HEAT for Victor Pascow’s makeup, using hair gel on the Church cats, and applying the zombified Rachel Creed makeup! On this week's episode, the gang welcomes Griffin Newman into the studio to chat about the dumb fun that is Pet Sematary (1989)! Why didn't the town just vote to lower that speed limit? Can beer bottles get buried in the cemetery and come back to life as FULL beers? And was that kid really laid to rest (the first time) in that Tom Petty hat? PLUS: Be sure to catch Griffin on Amazon's The Tick when it returns for SEASON TWO, this Friday, April 5th! Pet Sematary stars Dale Midkiff, Fred Gwynne, Denise Crosby, Brad Greenquist, Blaze Berdahl, and Miko Hughes; directed by Mary Lambert.

Dan and Garrett ring in the New Year and prepare for the upcoming remake with a first time watch of Mary Lambert's 1989 adaptation of Stephen King's PET SEMATARY. Written by King, it's equal parts dark and affecting drama and wildly bonkers horror, and the boys fall head over heels for the whole affair. In honor of one of the 47 insane things that happens to Miko Hughes throughout the movie, they also cover their Top 5 Fully-On-Fire-Stuntmen. Recently we had the pleasure of sitting down, cracking a few beers and having not just an "interview", but a real conversation with actor Miko Hughes. Horror fans probably know Miko best as little Gage Creed from Pet Sematary, or Dylan from Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Sure, we talk about his many experiences as a child star, but mostly it's just 4 dudes cracking jokes, talking about Bacon, EDM, how memory works, drugs and whatever else we feel like... Plus movies too! We had a great time and now, we are inviting you to join us... So stop reading, grab a beer, and hit play.
