What do Miss America 2023 and a nuclear engineer have in common? Well…they're both Grace Stanke! A recent nuclear engineering graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Grace's journey has been all but ordinary. At the age of 14, she began competing in pageants to improve her performance skills and found a passion in the Miss America Organization. She won Miss Wisconsin in 2022 then Miss America in 2023. Over her year of Miss America, she's advocated for nuclear energy and STEM education on the global stage across 27 states and 7 countries, including at COP28. She hopes to use her platform to motivate young people with diverse backgrounds to pursue energy careers. After her time as Miss America, Grace will join Constellation Energy, where she will work as a nuclear engineer while continuing her advocacy efforts. Keynotes: How Grace hopes to leverage the Miss America platform to motivate young people to pursue energy careers Grace's hopes for the future of the nuclear energy industry The most common misconceptions about nuclear energy and what you need to know The value of cross-functional skill-building And follow us on: Newsletter: https://www.energy-terminal.com/newsletter-signup LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/energy-terminal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/energyterminal/

Twitter fight: Maz v. ML, Mel Tucker fires back at MSU, YouTube demonetizes Russell Brand, Thomas Markle's “final” TV interview, Bijou Phillips divorces Danny Masterson, a new boner army, and we call people to tell them their phone number was on TV. Thanks to everyone who has subscribed to the YouTube page. We're now chasing Mike Valenti. Mel Tucker popped off on MSU today because they are firing him. He's in scorched earth mode. ML's Soul of Detroit spoke to Kenny Jacoby, the reporter from the USA Today who covered the scandal. Coach Prime and Colorado are rocking and rolling and everybody's watching. Boner Army Alert: Alexis Loomans. Miss Wisconsin and Florida QB girlfriend. NFL injuries: Detroit Lion CJ Gardner-Johnson… out for the year with a torn pec. James Houston… out for 8 weeks with a broken ankle. Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb's knee got torn in half during MNF. Deshaun Watson sucks at football now. Tom Mazawey vs ML Elrick: Battle over Spartan Stadium. A bunch of Brazilian med students jerked it on a volleyball court during a women's game. Our YouTube winner is revealed as ________________. The Russell Brand pile-on continues. Brand has some defenders. His YouTube channel has been demonetized following accusations. He was once handsy with Katharine McPhee. Kristen Bell wasn't having any of his nonsense. He totally dumped Katy Perry via text message. Brand and that beast, Meghan Markle, totally made out. We got our very first YouTube strike. Oops. Take a listen to one of the best Tom Mabe phone calls. We call several phone numbers that were put on blast by Fox's football pre-game show. The Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC are considering joining forces. Music: Some people are challenging Jim Bentley's best guitar solos. Drew discovered a whole bunch cover songs by U2. Drew is also liking the super deluxe demos from The Who. An Ann Arbor hotel gets the 1-star review treatment. Poor Thomas Markle is treated so terribly by his family (his daughter Meghan). He just did his “final” TV interview. Julie Chen-Moonves has a boring new book coming out. Love is dead as Bijou Phillips files for divorce from Danny Masterson after his sentencing. Britney Spears is dumb and makes a 2-month-old trend all about her. Don't worry about her, she's still spinnin'. Politics: Donald Trump would write to-do lists on classified documents. Joe Biden remains old as dirt. Hunter Biden received money from Romania as well. The Senate drops their dress code because John Fetterman can only wear hoodies and shorts. Howard Stern is pretty prude about the Lauren Boebert situation given his past. Speaking of which, Boebert dumps the groper. Ray Epps has finally been charged with something in his involvement in January 6th. He is also suing Fox News. Anyone who tells you they know exactly why isn't being genuine with you, no one really know why close to 80K people voted for Johnson and couldn't vote for Michels. Down ballot Republicans in the state wide elections didn't do as well as Ron did and you have to ask yourself why? Darius & Priscilla talk to Melissa Young about her life experiences, President Trump and the State of our political landscape.
One of the first things you need to do when starting a non-profit, business, social impact initiative, or anything new is determine how you’re going to put it into the world. Which means, how are you going to brand it? What tone are you using? What color scheme matches the vibe? What’s the best communication style to use for which social media platform? Tianna Vanderhei served as Miss Wisconsin 2018, is a former TV news reporter, podcast host, coffee addict, and overall boss babe. Throughout all of the hats she has worn in her life, she has developed an expertise in social media, marketing, and communications. I was so grateful to sit down with her to discuss the dos and don’ts of social media marketing, her method of where to start when developing a new branding strategy, how she was able to market herself when getting new sponsors for the Miss Wisconsin Scholarship Organization, and so much more. I am beyond thrilled to have her as our resident branding and social media expert - and I know you will be too after hearing today’s episode! Nicole spreads the message of the healing power of kindness as host of “The Kindness Podcast”, through her weekly column, “Kindness is Contagious”, which runs in newspapers in North Dakota and Minnesota and as a regular guest on the Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family” show. A Phil Svitek Podcast - A Series From Your 360 Creative Coach
Alex Wehrley (@AlexWehrley) is a dear friend who has been in a content creator for a long time. She started out reporting in Illinois before moving to LA where she hosted for AfterBuzz TV—which is how I got to know her. From there she's hosted for E! News Now, ABC.com red carpets, FOX, Yahoo!. In 2015, she got the chance to host Miss USA, which was a full circle moment given that she'd competed as Miss Wisconsin years prior. But she wanted to shift her focus and started utilizing her hosting skills within the entrepreneur and business space. That's how she created her personal brand Empowerista, which also lead to a host position on Business Rockstars. In this episode, Alex is gracious enough to share the tactics she's learned and applied as well as highlighting some of the tough decisions she's needed to make. We talk about the need for women to have a strong role model in their life, something that Alex was lucky to have thanks to her mom. And we discuss patience and what it means to have control especially in the context of Covid-19 and quarantine. Of course, we go in depth about how to be confident on camera and so much more! Alex is a wealth of knowledge and I had a blast chatting with her because I learned so much. I know you will too. So tune in and hear what she has to say. And for more info, be sure to check out her book Confidently On Camera which is available to order at http://confidentlyoncamera.com. Please be sure to comment with any thoughts or questions you may have, or just write how awesome Alex is since it's true but can never be understated. Or hit me up on social media @PhilSvitek. She grew up watching the iconic Miss America competition on television, wanting to compete on that stage someday. In June, 2016 that vision became a reality when she won the job of Miss Wisconsin 2016. That opportunity provided her with the chance to advance to the national stage that fall, but the crowns didn't come without their fair share of setbacks and above all else, courage.
Meet Emma. Her name will be all over billboards not just for her extensive hustle in the pageant world on influence on social media but for her message of fully owning who you are and total appreciation for who SHE is. Her self love is resonating her platform as a curvier contestant while she is working to break barriers and erase the stigma of what size a pageant contestant can be. She represented her home state of Wisconsin on the national stage 4 times and is competing again for the title of Miss Earth USA 2020 this summer in Las Vegas. In this episode, Emma shares how her pageant journey looks from her viewpoint, the countless rejections she had to overcome and why she continues to compete despite sometimes being the only contestant with a little more curves. Are you confident enough to know what to say in a crucial moment? On this episode of Brandstorm, our guest will help you speak and be heard. Julie Loeding is a certified corporate trainer of “Crucial Conversations” and a management and marketing instructor at Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC), as well as a former Miss Wisconsin. What’s a Crucial Conversation? A crucial conversation can happen at the workplace or in your personal life and evokes strong emotions, has high stakes and involves opposing opinions. It is also the name of a book, training program, and certification created by Vital Smarts, a global leadership training provider out of Utah. Its researchers spent 35 years studying and identifying the best performers within organizations and how they effectively handled different situations. That wisdom has been parlayed into a bestselling book and 16-hour training program. The Anatomy of a Crucial Conversation In most organizations, Crucial Conversations start with senior leadership and then filter down through the entire company. Every organization has problems, but Julie says the most successful ones talk about them. According to Julie, you must separate emotions from the facts and start with heart. What do want for yourself, the other person, your relationship or company? It forces you to take the focus off yourself. Time, place and safety are also important for conversations. Julie admits her favorite place is in the car where there is no opportunity to escape, but if you are in a meeting and see someone is shutting down, smiling or getting angry, stop and address that emotion. Ask them what they are feeling. Be tentative in your actions and ask for feedback. For example, “I’ve told you some of my concerns. Now I’d like to hear from you.” At that point, be quiet and listen. You can also try priming, which involves asking a question in different ways. You can solve problems faster when the conversations are open and end with an action plan. Lastly, Julie says there are conversations that can end up in a downward spiral, where emotions derail the conversation. In these cases, stop and step out of that conversation. Take a timeout. Acknowledge that things are not going well and perhaps start over or apologize or try contrasting by pointing out your original intent versus what just happened. Why Crucial Conversations? Julie endorses Crucial Conversations because of its real-life scenarios, online components, videos and tools to help organizations and individuals work through difficult situations. The 16 hours can be done intensely over a couple of days or over several weeks depending on the organization’s schedule. Costs are typically determined by the number of attendees and the trainers’ fees.
