It's a contributing factor to all major diseases and changes your body's processes when heightened. Finding ways to manage the stress of everyday life and the added stressors of life events and holidays can support your longterm disease prevention, help you absorb vitamins and minerals better, and support your body's innate healing process. Today's episode is unique. Dr. Jake is introducing you to Dr. Frank, our lead adjusting chiropractor. Dr. Frank is asked what the difference is between chiropractors and medical doctors. Chiropractors diagnose based on their findings in the patients spine, and medical doctors base their diagnosis on symptoms. There is a time and place for our medical system, it's really good for emergency cases, but this system is not good for preventative measures. Advil and Tylenol have never healed; they only relieve pain associated with the symptom. Dr. Frank wanted to become a Doctor of Chiropractic because he saw the results, heard patients' stories, and he did data analysis on health care. Dr. Jake then asks for 3-4 changes someone can make to improve their life and the importance of children coming in for chiropractic care. Like clockwork, every autumn the calls start rolling in: Is this allergies or the flu or a cold? While fall and winter are typically “cold and flu season,” it doesn't happen just because the weather is turning… it might be your nervous system crashing the party! Be honest - how do you feel about the holiday season coming up? Does it make you feel joyful, relaxed, and happy? Or - much more likely - like a “stressball”? This fall, fight cold and flu season with a strong nervous system! Your Immune System and Nervous System Especially during this season, it's important to balance the two main parts of your autonomic nervous system: Rest and digest (parasympathetic nervous system) Fight or flight (sympathetic nervous system) Your fight or flight gets triggered with all kinds of modern stressors, including sudden noises, email alerts, phone dings, etc. When these stressors happen, your body produces a hormone reaction that disrupts your sleep, digestive system, reproductive system, and immune system. Meaning, your body is fighting everything except the external cold and flu bugs. Shifting Into a Peaceful Holiday Season Ready to have a holiday season full of ease and grace? Dr. Elyssa has three easy, accessible tips for you! Tip 1: Box breathing. Inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, exhale for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, inhale for 4 counts… Repeat for a few rounds. Tip 2: Turn off your notifications. Turn your phone on silent so you don't get constant “ding” anxiety, and consider setting specific times to check your phone or email. Tip 3: Be mindful of inflammation activators. Inflammation increases stress response and calls your immune system to fight the inflammation, distracting it from outside invaders like colds and flus. To support anti-inflammation in your system: Watch out for extra sugar, rich/heavy foods, and alcohol Drink more water, especially when you get sugar cravings Eat something that helps you feel healthy before going to holiday gatherings Take snacks for the road! Let us know how these tips work for you this holiday season, or if you have any to add! In this episode you'll hear about: Why fall becomes cold and flu season What's really happening each autumn that causes those colds and flus Balancing holiday season stress How your nervous system and immune system work together Ease and grace this holiday season Dr. Elyssa's three tips for a healthy nervous system and strong immune system Resources in this Episode: Pain-Free Pregnancy registration Body & Balance website Learn more about Dynamic Body Balancing DBB Website Learn: Episode 4: All About Dynamic Body Balancing Episode 5: It Takes a Village - Doulas The Benefits of Bone Broth Healthy Holiday Eating Stress Free Home for the Holidays Connect: Boulder Locals: Join our free, in-person Pain-Free Pregnancy community each quarter. Ever wonder what a birth doula does? Doulas can serve many roles in the pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journey. This can include: Being a caretaker Serving as your advocate in a medical setting Keeping you company / being the antidote to isolation in pregnancy and childbirth Normalizing your experience Helping you feel supported every step of the way It truly takes a village to support the pregnancy and birth process, as this week's Trimester Bubble guest, Jennie Bingham, reminded us. She is a birth and postpartum doula and massage therapist based here in the “bubble” in Boulder, CO. Birth doulas also help support a continuity of care, as you may or may not have the same medical team throughout your pregnancy and birth. They can adapt to your needs and play whatever role is needed, including being hands-on support during your delivery. Bodywork is another crucial care practice for pregnancy. Between chiropractic care and massage, you can find relief from common pregnancy complaints like: Leg cramps Hip pain Anxiety and stress Neck and shoulder pain Mid and low back pain Plus, receiving bodywork during pregnancy (by a qualified practitioner) can help you build body awareness for a more easeful pregnancy (posture, functional movement) and labor. If you've visited Body & Balance before, you've likely experienced Dynamic Body Balancing. But what is it, really? Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB) is a craniosacral myofascial unwinding technique originally developed by Dr. Carol Phillips. The practitioners at Body & Balance are trained extensively in DBB and use it with nearly every patient. DBB is three parts: Craniosacral Myofascial unwinding Dynamic Your Craniosacral System We all have three primary metrics of health: your heartrate, respiration (breathing) rate, and cranial rhythmic impulse. The latter is what pumps fluid in and around your nervous system, bringing nutrients in and flushing toxins out of your brain. In DBB, practitioners clear any restrictions in your craniosacral system and help you find balance. Myofascial Unwinding Fascia is the spiderweb-like connective tissue that encases all of your muscles, ligaments, nerves, bones, and organs. When something gets “stuck” in your fascia, it can create all kinds of discomfort. In practice, myofascial unwinding as part of Dynamic Body Balancing can look like rocking or shaking. While you are moving around, your practitioner is tapping into the receptors that talk to you brain and activating them so your brain can show the body what needs attention and the body will respond with unwinding. Dynamic The “Dynamic” part of DBB means you're sitting up or standing in gravity, rather than lying down for the entire session. This allows your body to more easily find “stuck” points and torsions. Torsions can come from many sources, including old injuries, traumas, repetitive motions, and inutero. We often see torsions from car accidents, falls, and student athletes. Athletes who play golf, tennis, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, plus dancers and snowboarders all have built-in torsions from their sport. Bodies can become unbalanced from a single torsion event (e.g. car accident) or a lifetime of layered torsions. Is DBB right for me? If you've tried other modalities of healing and they're not lasting, or something's missing, Dynamic Body Balancing is a great option. While everyone can benefit from DBB, we most frequently treat the following groups: Infants Toddlers Pregnant mamas Chronic pain In this episode you'll hear about: What Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB) is Dr. Carol Philips Dr. Elyssa's history with DBB The three metrics of health Your cranialsacral system How myofascial unwinding works How torsions show up in your body Resources in this Episode: Pain-Free Pregnancy registration Body & Balance website Learn more about Dynamic Body Balancing DBB Website Learn: Episode 3: Pregnancy 101: Back to Basics Breastfeeding and Chiropractic Amazing Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Babies The Six Signs of Subluxation During Pregnancy Connect: Boulder Locals: Join our free, in-person Pain-Free Pregnancy community each quarter. Feeling overloaded with all the pregnancy advice from doctors, family members, strangers, and the bottomless pit that is the internet? Let's get back to the basics. Very simply, rule number one is to listen to yourself. Your internal wisdom is super smart and will tell you what's okay and what's not okay. Connect with you and baby with these simple tips as you embark on your pregnancy journey: Nutrition Through the…interesting…cravings that can go along with pregnancy, there are a few simple things to keep in mind. Leave out caffeine Pay attention to artificial sweeteners and refined sugars Steer clear of prepackaged foods as much as possible Add a good prenatal vitamin with iron and omegas Manage your blood sugar (and morning sickness!) with regular snacks and meals Sleep Your body will usually tell you the best way to sleep as you move through trimesters and your baby grows. Sleeping on your side with lots of pillow support is generally the way to go! Grab some pillows or a U-pillow to support your head, baby, and between-the-knees for your side sleeping. Stress Cortisol, your stress hormone, can impact all the other hormones in your body - and in baby's body. What's a mama to do? Regulate your nervous system with breath! Find a regular occurrence during your day - like going to the bathroom - and take 5 deep breaths just for you. Inhale silence, exhale racing thoughts. Manage stress with outside support like massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, etc. At Body & Balance, we specialize in regulating your nervous system in addition to helping your body feel its best. Movement Should I keep lifting weights? Can I keep running while I'm pregnant? Generally, you can keep doing what you were doing before you got pregnant (as long as it feels ok), though now is not the time to push your limits or set PRs. Whether you were a “walker” before your pregnancy or not, now is a great time for walking! Start small and build up your walking duration to about 45 minutes a day and include as a regular part of your day throughout your pregnancy. In this episode you'll hear about: The overload of pregnancy information Trusting your intuition Setting boundaries Foods to avoid or add How to sleep for a happy back (plus the Body & Balance fan favorite pregnancy pillow!) Managing your mindset and stress levels Exercise and movement basics The benefits of walking Feeling more at ease with your pregnancy Resources in this Episode: Pain-Free Pregnancy registration Dr Elyssa's favorite prenatal vitamins Body & Balance website Learn: Episode 2: Strength & Community in Pre- and Post-Natal Yoga Exercise During Pregnancy Prenatal and Pregnancy Nutritional Care Camouflaged Sugars Connect: Boulder Locals: Join our free, in-person Pain-Free Pregnancy community each quarter. People all around you are suffering and dying. Not just physically, spiritually. You as I, have probably suffered some trauma the last year or so but more likely 20 years ago. Somebody in here is holding onto something that fruitless but you won't let go. Tonight is a good time to heal from that. My dad was a slug. I hated him. Then I fasted and God said forgive him. Because my flesh was weak, 11 days into a fast, I spent the last three months with him without judgement. I was diagnosed with Menderes disease, healed after fasting. There is nothing more powerful, but our educated brain wants to say oh that's too simpley To fill the gap in pain, world creates static by keeping us busy, emails, Facebook, work, news, eating food, extending ourselves beyond our capability. —write down one thing that limits you, that creates static. I need less of that. It creates a tiny bandaid on our lives, covers up some imperfection, takes away from our purpose. Alcohol does this too. Sugar does. Calling your sister to complain about the same thing or to gossip does the same thing. Constantly having the radio on, avoiding the quiet, does the same thing. Acting like nothing is wrong when you're destroyed on the inside. It's hard to believe that But you will never find yourself until you lose yourself, sometimes your heart needs to be broken to understand your smallness and gods bigness. I believe that anything great that you do will be outside of your comfort zone and in faithfulness. Certainty is the opposite of faith. Your uncertainty should lead you to the answer that you are not the answer and do not have all the answers. God is not a genie, but he has every answer you'll ever need. You can't just stay at the surface and expect God to move, not if you want to see big changes in your life. I believe that a lot of what we deal with is a heart issue. a hurt issue. a hurt that isolating yourself from your holy father only creates more hurt. Maybe it isn't hurt, its confusion, you don't know why you do what you do and sometimes even what the heck are you doing and supposed to be doing What are u going to lose this year and replace with something good? Who are you? - a small description whose are you? - a small description What breaks your heart? - what would you change if you knew you had no barriers What is fasting? Removing something that is not as important for something more important. Facebook, Twitter, TV, email, food, relationships, drugs It's not letting the necessities of life overrule the priorities of life Fasting benefits What are the health benefits of fasting? Weight loss, lower cholesterol levels, promotes growth hormone production which burns fat and builds muscle and slows the aging process, help regulate blood sugar which in turn will decrease inflammation and it's slows down and reversed some of the aging process. You're going to detox your mind and your body. So What does it mean to have Toxins in your body? Toxins accumulate through eating processed or fast foods, all the colors, preservatives that we eat get hidden deep into our tissue and fat. It's toxic thoughts too, things you have been told or told to yourself and set anchor with you life on. This is all you'll ever be or have, you should could wouoda, you'll never be this…..I hate him or her, and thoughts like I'll never forgive that person How do you get rid of toxins? You pray and fast What are the risks? Dehydration is the first thing so make sure you are drinking water and lots of it. Blood sugar levels will drop, you may not be diabetic after this. Lmnt salt packs What should people expect to happen to their bodies when they fast? Lose weight, eventually feel great, clearer mind after the first few days. The motive of biblical fasting is, "I'm hungry for God. What I need is God. What I want is God. Who I need to be around is God." It's that angst you read about in the Psalms so often. "As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs for you. When am I going to meet with God? When can I be in the presence of God? How long, O Lord, will you forsake me?" Fasting is a hunger for God that transcends and trumps other hungers in our lives. It's that moment when we go, "I'm using this time I normally set aside to eat to press into God and to pray and seek his face. I'm going to take this time I normally watch television and I'm going to press into God and I'm going to pray. I'm going to take this time I normally do this and I'm going to press into God and pray." Faith is a garden, and everyday I have to work on it or it will die and I on the inside will die God plants and seed and then treats it like a gardener. Are you willing to be tilled soil in order to grow and change? Jesus is the root, and growth happens in the dirt. God isn't a genie, embrace the process, embrace the mundane embrace the same. Gardner may come day after day and see nothing, does that mean quit? Does that mean something new isn't growing? It takes time to see a sprout. The word Well watered vine dryed out cactus Trellis trellis (treillage) is an architectural structure, usually made from an open framework or lattice of interwoven or intersecting pieces of wood, bamboo or metal that is normally made to support and display climbing plants. Vine any plant having a long, slender stem that trails and climbs by winding itself about a support or holding fast with tendrils or claspers. At first glance, the vine is abundantly healthy. It's leaves bright green and the stems full of juicy chlorophyll and oxygen. There is no brown, no signs of decay except for the lighter green, almost yellow tips of the leaves just outside of the trellis that it lays upon. On further inspection, the trellis, though still brightly painted from years ago, has started to warp and fray on its ends, leaving rotten wood and bugs creeping into its interior. Due to the exceeding decay, the vine has taken on the damage and can no longer grow to its expected heights. And while the vine is the main subject, the one that moves people by its beauty and mystery, the trellis is needed just as much to hold up the wonderful vine so that all can see. Are you willing to work on your trellis? The parts that people don't see? Matthew 4- Jesus goes into the wilderness, fasting for 40 days the. Satan comes into the picture and tempts him with worldly things, with bread. Then afterward, as Jesus returns, his very first sermon and teaching involves Matthew 6 Detox Matthew 6:16-18 ESV "And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Biblical Examples of fasting: • Moses 40 day fast before God gave him the 10 Commandments. Elijah fasted 40 days, Jesus fasted 40 days. • Esther called for the city to fast for 3 days and God spared them from the evil plot of Haman. • Hannah was depressed because she couldn't have a baby so she fasted in 1 Samuel and God heard her prayer and soon Samuel was born. • Judah, Ezra, Daniel, the people of Ninevah, Nehemiah, David, Anna, Paul, Peter all fasted in the Bible. But beware: the Bible says 1 "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. 2 "Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 5 "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 7 "And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. 16 "And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 "The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. 25 "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? - Matthew 6:1-26 How long do I fast? Length • Joshua fasted 40 days • Daniel fasted 21 days from bread and meat and wine • Peter fasted 3 days What happens when we fast? God is about to spiritually body slam you...in a good way. Be excited. You will be healthier. We begin to pursue God in a more intense way, our prayer life becomes more serious, our prayers become more specific. Voice of God becomes clearer. Repentance and recovery will occur. Mourning loss of the person that we just lost and God fills your heart. You let him know you are seeking him. Your senses for the things of heaven heighten. The static of the world will darken. John 15:1-4 ESV "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Jake Parrish and is for informational and educational purposes only. Many of you saw or heard the first episode with Dr. Bryan Ardis, but know we went next level on this one. Even the “Don't Get the Shot Shot Seat,” we talked about Dinosaurs and if the Moon Landing was a myth.I'm tempted to call a lot of what we talked about as conspiracy theory…but when there is solid logical evidence, you can't call things conspiracy anymore. We talked about how the medical profession has completely lost its trust with the CDC and the people are slowly opening their eyes to the complete failures of the medical profession. We talk about the logic behind how there is damning evidence to snake venom in everything to explain CoVid in a sense where its almost undeniable. We look at how certain pharmaceutical companies, the NIH and Fauci can all be tied to snake venom research. We get heavy into the receptors in the brain stem being related to the same area that nicotine can actually bind to the same receptors to make CoVid release especially for long haulers. We also discuss the random timing to why nicotine products are being limited or even in some ways banned all over the world. We also get into the whole “why is all of this happening.” He suggests a book known as the Conspirators' Hierarchy, The Story of the Committee of 300 by John Coleman. We also talk about the purpose of ALL VACCINES, not just the current. We talk about the messaging around MonkeyPox and why it's so important that they make this a world health epidemic with minimal fatalities. Lastly we talk about treatment methods all the way from supplements to nicotine. It's a crazy episode, and I think it's insanely eye opening…oh and was I wrong all along about Dr. Robert Malone? In this week's Ardis Labs “Don't get the shot, Shot Seat.” Is Fauci really Retiring? Are dinosaurs real? Was the moon landing real? Some thoughts during the show…What is the purpose to this pandemic? Are Vaccines there to make us sick? What is the correlation to Snake Venom?Who is Dr. Robert Malone? Why is New York pushing people to drink free water? Is everything you think you know… wrong? How to treat long covid? How to protect yourself against Covid? If you like our gear make sure you go to awakenotwokestore.com and use “awake” for 15% off. Dr. Bryan Ardis from “Watch The Water” produced by Stew Peters, joins us today to discuss his theory on COVID-19 and snake venom. I have recently been critical of Dr. Ardis and his ideology regarding the origins of the coronavirus, however, we had a great discussion. This Friday Dr. Ardis will be releasing a trailer for his new documentary “CoVenom-19”. The documentary will show recently declassified CIA documents as they relate to the pandemic. #watchthewater #snakevenom #COVID19 #JoeBiden #DrBryanArdis #1stamendment #donaldtrump #MAGA #stewpeters #mikeadams #pfizer #moderna #johnsonandjohnson Disclosure for YouTube: The content discussed on this show is by no means an attempt to spread misinformation. Dr. Geoff Tucker is an Equine Veterinarian who has specialized in Equine Dentistry since the mid 90's and has just recently passed his 75,000th dental exam. He gives us some insight into what he's learned about the inside of a horse's mouth and best way to care for it. He has a special way of doing his work, using sedation only about 3% of the time and no speculum. To be honest though, most of this podcast episode focuses on nutrition in horses. He discusses how things actually function within the equine gut. The microbiome is a big part of this talk, as is how the various things we feed actually affect the horse once digested. While this conversation is entertaining, I think the information provided within is a MUST LISTEN for any conscientious horse owner. Neither Dr. Tucker nor I are sponsored by any companies, nor do we have any financial gain to be made by what we say. We're simply interested in getting high quality information out there so that horse enthusiasts can make more informed decisions, to be better advocates for the horse. It's a struggle that's been aggravated by the modern age, where work hours are getting increasingly longer and busier and we're constantly surrounded by attention-grabbing stimuli. Sleep is, unfortunately, turning into a luxury rather than a crucial aspect of our health. Our guest for this week is Dr. Meredith Broderick, a triple board-certified neurologist with specializations in sleep medicine and behavioral sleep medicine. Well Balanced 360 - Episode 6 How Your Food Controls Your Metabolic Health with Verneri Jaamuru There have been a plethora of fad diets that have come and gone these years, all with different promises of lasting effects that will help you slim down fast. Sure, some of them can work for you, but it doesn't mean the root cause is addressed. Today I'm joined by Verneri Jaamuru, the Co-Founder and Head of Product at Veri Stable, a continuous glucose monitor to better watch over your metabolic health and stabilise your glucose levels. In this episode of Well Balance 360, Verneri and I discuss glucose, the metabolic health spectrum, gut health, diabetes, intermittent fasting, and much more to help you build healthy habits; all towards living a better life! Quote: “Metabolic health is something that may not necessarily spark interest in a lot of people. But, I think food is a lot easier for people to understand that what they eat impacts how they feel and how much energy they have. So we've taken a strong stand with our product in terms of being the best and giving you insights about your food.” Links: https://www.veristable.com/ (Veri - Metabolic Compass) https://twitter.com/Jaamuru (Verneri Jaamuru (@Jaamuru) | Twitter) This content is for informational and educational purposes only. Overview Dr. Amber Krogsrud's peptide research was born from her own health struggles. Like many of her patients, Amber went through a long period of misdiagnosis (and lack of diagnosis), before she discovered the culprit of her gut sensitivity, lethargy, and other symptoms: she had candida overgrowth in her gut. Her treatment? Peptides. In this episode, host Dr. Shivani talks with Amber about these chains of amino acids, the building blocks of protein, which signal our bodies to have specific responses -- like improving sleep, building up certain kinds of tissues, and balancing our immune systems. After her own incredible experience with peptides, Amber got trained in peptide therapy. She has seen peptides change the lives of patients with chronic illness, auto-immune conditions, chronic pain, and more. But peptides can also be used to optimize the body, improving energy, sleep quality, and helping us build muscle. In the COVID-era, as we all search for ways to improve our immune response, reduce stress, and get deeper, more restful sleep, peptides offer a unique solution that can be customized for individual patient concerns. Check out this episode of the Well Balanced 360 podcast to learn more about peptides, and what they can do for you! Quotes “If we want to age well, if we want to feel well, if we want our brain to be sharp during the day, we need to focus on the night time… and a lot of peptides are taken at night so we can really maximize that window of time where your body is in repair mode.” Links Dr. Amber's Instagram: @doctorambernd Website: http://drshivaniamin.com/ (drshivaniamin.com) Instagram: @drshivaniamin This content is for informational and educational purposes only. It's been almost a year since Covid began, and we are all feeling exhausted. In fact, 33% more of us reported feelings of burnout and fatigue in the last year. In this episode of the Wellness 360 podcast, Dr. Shivani talks with Dr. Amy Shah about her new book: I'm So Effing Tired: A Proven Plan to Beat Burnout, Boost Your Energy and Reclaim Your Life. This book is all about reclaiming energy, and it's not a crash diet or crazy exercise plan. At its root, it's all about the sun. Circadian fasting is about revolving your day around sun cycles. The three basic tenets are: 1) Get direct sunlight on your body in the morning, 2) Stop eating 2-3 hours before bed, and 3) Avoid blue light 2-3 hours before bed. It's like the more popular intermittent fasting, but better - you can still eat three meals a day, and the focus is on aligning your body with the world around you. Dr. Amy Shah shares a wealth of information about getting your energy back, and all her steps are simple, easy to implement, and focused on the natural cadence of our bodies. Tune in to this episode for a doctor's perspective on sleep, hormonal and immune balance, and reconnecting with the natural world. Quotes “Think of it like a triangle. So the brain is in the middle of that triangle, and gut health is one one side, immune health is on one side, and hormone health is on one side. This is the energy trifecta. If any of these sides are damaged or not doing well, your brain will suffer and you'll feel tired.” (8:01-8:25) “I spend a few minutes in the morning and a few minutes in the evening out of my to-do list.” (20:51-21:00) Links Instagram: @FastingMD http://www.amymdwellness.com (www.amymdwellness.com) My website: drshivaniamin.com instagram: @drshivaniamin This content is for informational and educational purposes only. “Along the way you just start to hold paradox,” says Dr. Siri Chand Khalsa. As a skilled ayurvedic practitioner with a deep knowledge of many facets of both eastern and western healing, Dr. Siri has learned how to hold all modalities at once to find the best tools for what she calls “vitality medicine” -- medicine that builds up your health. In this episode of the Well Balanced 360 podcast, Dr. Siri talks with Dr. Shivani about ayurveda, it's origins, and how she embraced these tools on her own life-long healing journey in the wake of a horrific bike accident when she was a child. Dr. Shivani and Dr. Siri also talk about the future of medicine, the value of the time we spend with each other as doctors and patients, and the “deep knowledge” of centuries of healing and observation of the body. Touching on kundalini yoga, the gut microbiome, and so much more, this episode will take you into the power of ancient medicines to heal and care for our bodies. Quotes “Transformation often needs a container.” (31:20-31:23) “Women have classically been healers, we carry a divine connection to healing energy naturally.” (38:09-38:15) Links http://drsirichand.com (DrSiriChand.com) My website: drshivaniamin.com instagram: @drshivaniamin This content is for informational and educational purposes only.
