In this solo episode, Kari tackles a challenge that plagues even the most driven leaders — procrastination. But it's not what you think. It's not about time management or laziness — it's an emotional trap that quietly sabotages your progress. Kari breaks down: The surprising science behind why we delay important actions The true cost of procrastination (hint: it's deeper than missed deadlines) The 3D Detox: Disrupt, Decide, Design — a practical system to get moving again The link between procrastination and self-trust How to shift your emotional state to reclaim momentum and confidence If you've been stuck, stalled, or just “waiting for the right moment,” this episode will reframe everything. Key Takeaway: Procrastination isn't about what you're avoiding — it's about what you're feeling. Master your emotions, and you'll master your follow-through.
SHOW NOTES: On this show…we're exploring how you can do hard things, build resilience & beat procrastination! We're diving into that moment when your brain whispers, “nah, let's just wait, doing hard stuff is hard.” And you know what? That's totally okay. Procrastination isn't about laziness, it's your body's way of dodging discomfort. We'll explore how resilience isn't about superhero strength, it's about learning to lean into the challenge, even when you'd rather binge‑watch from your comfort zone. Life tosses curveballs; overwhelm, fear of failing, perfectionism, or just sheer dread of starting. But guess what? Even taking the tiniest step counts as a win. I'll walk you through what's really going on in your brain, then we'll share a laugh (or two) as we explore strategies that empower, not overwhelm. Stick around; by the end, procrastination might just feel a little more conquerable and maybe even a bit fun. Let's start by getting on the same page. We're tossing around two big, emotionally loaded words today, resilience and procrastination and if you're like most of us, they come with a mix of admiration, guilt, hope, and ugh. So before we dig in, let's unpack what they really mean, no shame, no psych textbook, just real talk. Resilience is often portrayed as superhero stuff, people running back into burning buildings, climbing mountains with one leg, bouncing back from personal tragedy like it was just a flat tire. But in everyday life, resilience looks more like showing up to a meeting you're dreading, trying again after failing, or getting out of bed when everything in your body says “no thanks.” It's not about being immune to struggle, it's about finding a way through it. Resilience is messy, imperfect, and deeply human. It's the part of you that whispers “try again” when the louder voice says “just quit.” On the other hand, procrastination is often misjudged as laziness or a lack of discipline. But spoiler alert: it's not. Procrastination is actually a form of emotional self-protection. It's your brain saying, “That task looks uncomfortable. Let's go organize the fridge instead.” You delay not because you don't care, but because something about that task, fear of failure, fear of success, overwhelm, boredom, feels threatening or unpleasant. So you put it off… and then beat yourself up for putting it off. Sound familiar? Why We Procrastinate: The Psychology of Putting Things Off Can Self-Compassion Overcome Procrastination? The ONLY Way To Stop Procrastinating | Mel Robbins CHALLENGE: Stop waiting for the perfect moment and start with the next one—messy, unmotivated, and unsure if you're ready. Because forward is forward, and five imperfect minutes of action beats one more day of overthinking. I Know YOU Can Do It!

How To Finally Beat Procrastination and Regain Energy Procrastination was one of my biggest struggles. There are a few typical signs of chronic procrastinators. They all applied to me, such as: I endlessly scrolled my phone, thinking there could be something important. My brain was searching for the next dopamine hit. I made excuses for not doing a specific task now, such as “I really need to wait for an answer from ABC to continue.” Waiting for the perfect moment to do anything. Without realizing it, it took a massive toll on my mental health. “We're all given the same opportunity. And that opportunity as a choice to either move, stay where you're at, or to impact.” —Sterling Stokes III Every day that passes without progress is a lost opportunity. Not taking action is not only disadvantageous but can be downright dangerous, as it leaves too much to chance— and chance favors the bold who seize opportunities now rather than wait for some vague "later" that may never materialize as hoped. “The Execution Specialist” Sterling Stokes is an entrepreneur, speaker, and author. His father's sudden passing drove home the lesson that time is precious and that delaying dreams will only result in wasted potential and missed opportunities. Book a podcast strategy call https://podcastprofitsunleashed.com/appointment In this episode of her podcast, Karen Roberts delves into the essentials of podcasting productivity, sharing strategies to beat procrastination and stay organized. Karen begins by highlighting the critical role of commitment, emphasizing that 80% of success in podcasting comes from consistently showing up and trusting the process. Drawing from her experience as an entrepreneur and a podcaster, she discusses her personal challenges with organization, particularly in light of her self-diagnosed hyper-focused ADHD. This condition, she explains, has significantly influenced her work habits and productivity, making it imperative for her to find effective organizational strategies. Karen shares how her background in the fitness industry, where she worked as a freelance instructor, laid the groundwork for her organizational skills. In this role, she had to adhere to a strict schedule and maintain high levels of accountability, which included being punctual and prepared for early morning classes. This structured environment suited her ADHD, as it left little room for decision-making and procrastination. However, transitioning to working alone as an entrepreneur presented new challenges. Without the external accountability she once had, Karen found herself struggling with procrastination and burnout, often leaving tasks to the last minute and working excessively to meet deadlines. To address these challenges, Karen adopted the Pomodoro Technique, a time management method that involves working in focused 25-minute intervals followed by 5-minute breaks. She has customized this technique to fit her lifestyle, using the breaks to engage in micro workouts or other quick activities that help her stay energized. This approach prevents burnout and keeps her productivity levels high. She emphasizes the importance of having specific times booked in her calendar for various tasks, treating them as non-negotiable appointments. This level of organization allows her to manage her time effectively and ensures that important tasks get done without being overwhelming. Karen also discusses the significance of task management, advising against having a long, daunting to-do list. Instead, she recommends focusing on a few key tasks each day, which makes it easier to stay on track and provides a sense of accomplishment. This method is particularly beneficial for those with ADHD, as it helps reduce feelings of overwhelm and confusion. In terms of practical podcasting tips, Karen outlines a comprehensive process for managing the different aspects of podcast production. This includes preparing content, booking guests, handling post-production tasks, and engaging with the audience. She advises podcasters to mix solo episodes with interviews featuring clients or experts in their niche, and to be clear about the structure and expectations for each episode. Efficient post-production involves editing the episodes, creating graphics and show notes, and promoting the episodes through various channels. Karen highlights the importance of having a well-organized system for these tasks, using tools like calendars and project management software to keep everything on track. Audience engagement is another crucial area Karen addresses. She suggests using newsletters and social media to consistently connect with listeners and promote new episodes. Regular content updates and interactions help grow and maintain the audience, which is essential for the podcast's success. Additionally, Karen touches on monetization strategies, encouraging podcasters to frequently promote their offers and services through their content. To illustrate the importance of consistent action, Karen points out that simply launching a podcast is not enough; ongoing effort is required to drive leads and sales. By breaking tasks into manageable chunks and incorporating them into a daily routine, podcasters can avoid burnout and achieve long-term success. She underscores the necessity of clear processes and strategies, which help streamline the workflow and make daily tasks more manageable. Looking ahead, Karen teases the next episode, where she will host Nicole Christina to discuss how to make memorable podcast appearances. She invites listeners to tune in and also encourages those interested in more personalized guidance to book a podcast strategy call through her website, Podcast Profits Unleashed. Karen concludes by thanking her audience and reminding them of the importance of persistence and organization in achieving podcasting success.
