God lytting!Vi trenger din hjelp for å fortsette å lage Hverdagspsyken!

rWotD Episode 2988: Elvira Saadi Welcome to random Wiki of the Day, your journey through Wikipedia's vast and varied content, one random article at a time. The random article for Wednesday, 9 July 2025, is Elvira Saadi.Elvira Fuadovna Saadi (born January 2, 1952) is a retired gymnast from the former Soviet Union and a former elite gymnastics coach in Canada. As a member of the Soviet Union's women's gymnastics team, Saadi shared in the team gold medals at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics. She placed 8th in the all-around at the 1972 Olympics and 7th all-around at the 1976 Olympics.Saadi won the all-around, balance beam and floor exercise at the 1973 USSR national championships. That year, she tied for first on vault at the 1973 World University Games, where she also placed 3rd in the all-around.At the 1974 World Championships, she earned a share of the USSR team gold, placed fourth in the all-around and captured the bronze medal on floor exercise.Following the 1976 Olympics, Saadi accepted a coaching position at the Moscow Dynamo Club, where she was the coach of Soviet gymnast Tatiana Groshkova, who placed third all-around in the 1989 U. S. S. R. gymnastics championships and placed first all-around at the 1990 Trophee Massilia.Saadi was born in Tashkent, U. S. S. R. She relocated to Canada in 1991 to become a coach at the Canadian gym Cambridge Kips, where she trained Canadian Olympians Yvonne Tousek and Crystal Gilmore. In June 2011, Saadi announced plans to open her own club, Dynamo Gymnastics. The new club begun operations on the premises of Revolution Gymnastics in Waterloo, where several top young gymnasts who left Cambridge Kips with Saadi trained. Dynamo Gymnastics opened in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada in 2011. Saadi opened the new club together with the parents of one of the up-and-coming gymnasts, Victoria Moors, who left Cambridge Kips with Saadi. Along with Victoria Moors was Madeline Gardiner. Both Gardiner and Moors went on to qualify for the Canadian London 2012 Olympic team. Moors competed as part of Team Canada and helped to earn Canada 5th place overall in the team final, the best ranking of any Canadian Women's Artistic Gymnastics team to date at the Olympics. Gardiner was an alternate on the team but did not compete. Moors was also the youngest Canadian Olympian competing at the age of 15. Victoria went on to briefly hold the record for a Canadian Women's Artistic Gymnast at the 2013 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2013, placing 10th for Canada. The previous best ranking for a Canadian was 14th. (That 10th-place ranking has since been beaten at the 2017 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships by Halifax's Ellie Black (Moors' teammate at the London Olympics). Victoria also has two eponymous skills, one a dismount from the uneven bars and the other a laid-out double-twisting double somersault on floor which is the hardest ranking floor skill to date. Victoria retired at the age of 18 in the spring of 2015. Victoria's sister Brooklyn Moors, also coached by Saadi, is a member of the Canadian national team and represented Canada at the 2017 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. On November 20, 2023, Saadi was permanently banned by Gymnastics Canada from working with gymnasts due to physical and verbal abuse. She appealed the ban, but on June 24, 2024, the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada denied her appeal. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:20 UTC on Wednesday, 9 July 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Elvira Saadi on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Kendra.
The full moon painted the sea in silver; its light rippling gently across the water. From his perch on West Cliff, a local photographer heard sudden screams from the shoreline below. The darkness concealed whatever was unfolding. He was puzzled but not alarmed. The screams stopped almost as quickly as they had started. Not overly concerned, he packed up his equipment and began heading home. As he turned, a figure peeled away from the shadows near the top of the steps leading down to the beach. The young man passed beneath a streetlight, and something about his facial expression struck fear into the photographer… *** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED *** This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing and mixing, script editing by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Outer Rim by Cody Martin As I Dream by Moments Handmaid's Escape by CJ Oliver Far From Home by Cody Martin Seeking Answers by Cody Martin Tesseract by Cody Martin Dark Hour by Falls The Arctic by Gold Coast A Presaging by Hill Siege by Hill Constant Surveillance by JCar Blackstone by Lincoln Davis Undernight by Lincoln Davis Memories Of Future Events by Hill All That I Have by Moments Ancient Ground by Moments Endless Night by Moments Prowler by Hill Harboring by Salon Dijon SOCIAL MEDIA: https://linktr.ee/TheyWalkAmongUsSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. The determined attempt to thwart Ottoman dominance was fought by Muslims and Christians across five theaters from the Balkans to the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean, from Persia to Russia. But this is not merely the story of a clash of civilizations between East and West. Europe was not united against the Turks; the scandal of the age was the alliance between King Francis I of France and Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Meanwhile, the resistance of the Saadi dynasty of Morocco to Ottoman encroachment played a critical role in denying Constantinople direct access to the Atlantic Ocean. By the same token, though religious imperatives were critic al to the motivations of all the key actors involved, these in no way fell neatly along the Christian Muslim divide. The Holy Roman Emperor Charles V desired nothing more than to eradicate the Protestant heresy metastasizing throughout his domains, but the threat of Turkish invasion forced him to stay his hand and indulge his Lutheran subjects to ensure a common defense. Nevertheless, the collective effort to constrain the expansion of the Ottoman superpower did succeed with the ultimate victory in 1571 the tipping point in reordering the trajectory of history. To explore these facets of medieval and early modern European history is today’s guest, Si Sheppard, author of “Crescent Dawn: The Rise of the Ottoman Empire and the Making of the Modern Age.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a textThis case is being heard at Winchester Crown Court during December 2024. Amie Gray was murdered by Nasen Saadi on Bournemouth Beach as he was curious to known what it would be like to kill someone according to the prosecution. This is a short podcast giving an overview of what is known as the case is live and seems to be attracting some media interest.Apologies for the sound of a noisy dog during recording. I will post part 2 at the conclusion of the court case.edit 1: Just to be clear Saadi is pleading not guilty to murder and attempted murder, during the pod, I think I mistakenly said that he was pleading guilty.

This week on The New Arab Voice podcast we look at the escalating conflict in Lebanon. In recent months Israeli airstrikes have ramped up, targeting Hezbollah's military stores, infrastructure, and its leadership. Additionally, Israeli troops have crossed the border and are confronting Hezbollah on the ground. Efforts are now ramping up to bring about a ceasefire, but nothing has been agreed yet, and it is still unclear what the terms of the deal would be. Also up for discussion is the state of Hezbollah as an armed group. How is Lebanon coping with the rising violence and the ever growing risks? Is this the end of Hezbollah? And can a deal be done so that Lebanon avoid the same fate that Israel has imposed on Gaza?Joining us, we speak with Yazan al-Saadi, The New Arab's International Editor, based in Beirut. Also, David Daoud (@DavidADaoud), senior fellow at The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (@FDD), focused on Lebanon and Hezbollah. In this episode of the Epigenetics Podcast, we talked with Jason Carroll from the Cambridge Research Institute about his work on contribution of estrogen receptor to breast cancer progression. The Podcast centers around the crucial role of the forkhead protein FOXA1 in breast cancer. FOXA1 acts as a pioneer transcription factor, facilitating gene regulation by recruiting nuclear receptors to chromatin, profoundly influencing gene expression in various breast cancer subtypes. The FOXA1-positive subtype of triple-negative breast cancer, despite being estrogen receptor-negative, shares gene expression profiles with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer, shedding light on the importance of targeting the androgen receptor for treatment. The challenges of studying transcription factor mappings from clinical samples are explored, with a focus on the ChIP-seq method's success in mapping estrogen receptor binding sites. Various techniques for transcription factor mapping, including CUT&RUN, CUT&Tag, and ChIP-exo, are discussed, as well as the potential of mass spec techniques like the RIME method in analyzing protein interactions. An intriguing experiment involving the purification of multiple proteins to identify interactions is highlighted. References Carroll, J. S., Meyer, C. A., Song, J., Li, W., Geistlinger, T.
