Boy avec leur single “I will follow”, puis War avec “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, ou enfin Joshua Tree avec “With or without you”. Bono is a singer, songwriter and the frontman of U2, one of the most recognisable and successful bands in music history. They have sold over 170 million albums, won 22 Grammys – more than any other band – and two Golden Globe Awards. Bono is also known for his work as an activist, especially in Africa where he has played a prominent role in campaigns which tackle poverty and HIV/AIDs. Bono was born Paul Hewson in Dublin in 1960. A schoolfriend named him Bono after a hearing aid shop in Dublin called Bono Vox, and the name stuck. When he was 16, Bono saw a poster on his school noticeboard posted by Larry Mullen Jr asking for people to form a rock band. He responded with enthusiasm and before long was rehearsing with his future bandmates Larry, who played the drums, guitarist the Edge and bassist Adam Clayton. The band's debut album Boy came out in 1980 and five years later they made an impact at the Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium when Bono disappeared from the stage for two minutes to get up close to the audience. One newspaper later described this incident as one of the 50 key events in rock history. U2's subsequent albums, including the Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum and Achtung Baby, cemented their status as global superstars, filling arenas around the world. In 2004 Bono co-founded One, an international campaigning organisation which was set up with the aim of ending extreme poverty and preventable disease by 2030. Bono met his future wife, Ali, at school when they were both teenagers. They married in 1982 and have four children.

Forcément, notre curiosité nous presse d'aller écouter ce disque intitulé “It Won't always be like this”. Depuis quelques semaines on peut enfin entendre “It won't always be like this”.

Every hero STARTS as a CHILD, and every Child can CHOOSE to become a Hero... Just like THIS one!Paul David Hewson was born in Ireland on May 10th, 1960. During his childhood and early teens, Paul and his brother, Norman, spent a lot of time together and had a lot of fun. Often, they would get together with friends and sing loudly in the streets of Dublin, sometimes just to see what people would say! One day Paul was singing especially loud when a friend gave him the nickname of “Bono Vox.” Paul hated that nickname until later, when he learned that “Bonavox” was a Latin phrase meaning “good voice!” Since then, Paul Hewson has been known simply as Bono. In the 1970s, Bono became the main singer in a rock band called U2. Over the years, Bono has made hundreds of millions of dollars and he has become extremely famous. But he hasn't used his money and his fame selfishly. He has chosen to HELP other people, mainly people in very poor countries of Africa. He is dedicated to fighting poverty, disease, and hunger. He has worked diligently with presidents and other leaders of more wealthy nations to encourage them to HELP, too. Yes, that young boy who sang loudly through the streets of Dublin, grew up to use his talents and his caring determination to HELP millions of people—Paul Hewson became Bono—and Bono... became a HERO. That's what I know about the beginning of This Hero, and I know that YOU Can Be a Hero TOO!Dear Parents, After years of development, trial, and revision, we are so excited to now share with you the most effective version yet of our Proactive Bully Prevention Program that has proven to "change the culture" at hundreds of campuses across America in profound ways. These two sets of stories work together to convey a common academic language which says, “A bully is a person who hurts others on purpose (even if it's just hurting their feelings) but a HERO is a person who HELPS others. So CHOOSE to be a HERO by HELPING instead of a bully by hurting.” They also promote the concept of POSITIVE PERSONAL VISION, helping each student to realistically visualize his or her own "Future Self," and in doing so help relate consequences of actions and attitudes today (good or bad) to that future self. 1976 in Dublin, Ireland, a superstar rock and pop group came together, featuring several “one named” members like Bono and The Edge. They are U2. Now, let’s take a Deep Dive into their success: The band’s original name was ‘Feedback,’ perhaps because of the awful noise they made in rehearsals. Before settling on U2, they almost went with ‘The Hype.’ Even though the band settled on U2 officially, Bono has never exactly been sold on the name. He says it sounds like a bad pun: You too? So why exactly did two of the band members change their real names to stage names? “The Edge” named himself as such because of his striking chinline. And Bono’s name was adapted from a hearing aid company name, Bono Vox, which used to be extensively advertised on TV. Because the band were very loud performers, bandmate Paul Hewson thought it was an appropriate moniker for the lead singer The band got their start in front of large audiences thanks to another UK band, The Clash, who invited them on their White Riot tour. The band’s first tour performance was right at home in Dublin at Trinity College As you might have noticed, the band writes all their own songs and never tries to cover other works from songwriters or other groups. The members formed the band before they all learned to play their instruments, so they didn’t feel comfortable trying to play other people’s songs The band has been together since their inception, though they did almost break up one time in the past. In the early 80s, the born-again Christian group that some of the band members belonged to almost convinced them to break up as a “sacrifice to God” The band members have lived in places all over the country, including right here in the US. In particular, The Edge was well known for his former Los Angeles Residence…it happened to be the same home that Eric and Lyle Menendez killed their parents in 1989 On November 27, 1993 U2 performed their only one concert without the full band; bassist Adam Clayton got so drunk the night before a show in Sydney that he couldn't go on stage and was replaced by bass technician Stuart Morgan. Clayton has cited the devastation he felt at missing the gig as the reason why he quit drinking The Joshua tree on the album cover is located in Death Valley, California. It's location was kept secret for years, but it was eventually toppled over in 2000 The band continues to write, perform, and tour together to this day, with no signs of slowing down

EFEMERIDES 1961.

AIOTM Video Series #4: Barbara. Has becoming a dad meant that Richard has lost his comedy mojo? Only you can decide (but the answer seems to be yes). Having finally got rid of the dead wood of Emma Kennedy and getting back the dead wood of Dan Tetsell, Rich turns his attention to how constitutional revenge porn is and meets the couple whose decision to back out of selling him their house has created two very different possible futures (have you seen the film Sliding Doors?). There is some very tender and beautiful love-making betwixt Rich and his toaster robot and Tiny Baby Anus turn their attention to Baa Baa Black Sheep. Christian Reilly sings about Paul Hewson and the naughty dog is back, as the cast become largely replaced by puppets. Abraham Lincoln might be in there somewhere, who knows? This is a show all about fake names…sure we could spend an hour talking about how people like Courtney Love and Elton John and Madonna use fake names on hotel registers…or we could go into how Bono’s real name is “Paul Hewson” and Deadmau5 has “Joel Zimmerman” on his driver’s license and that lorde is really Ella Yelich O’Connor… We could talk about how singers and bands sometimes perform gigs under fake names to throw off the press…the Foo Fighters, The Arcade Fire, Metallica, The Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Franz Ferdinand, REM, Kaiser Chiefs, Led Zeppelin, The Clash and hundreds of others have done that… But no, we’re going to kick it up a big notch…we’re only interested in real bands—big bands—who have released albums under fake identities…or, at the very least, have tried to obscure their identities for whatever reason…they’re side projects, yes, but very special ones…
