No, this isn't a Grand Puba album spotlight, although he is certainly deserving of one. This is quick trip down memory lane, where the music wasn't as dark, the tracks had more bounce, more harmony and in some cases, more flavor. We're dusting off those Girbaud jeans, that favorite Tommy Hilfiger you wore twice-a-week to school and your fresh '92 Polo Sport jacket. We got the perfect music to accompany you on this journey from EPMD, Grand Puba, Positive K, Chubb Rock, Biz Markie, 3rd Bass, Black Sheep, Diamond D, Freestyle Fellowship, Boogie Down Productions, X-Clan and Del tha Funkee Homosapien. We want to know your favorite early '90s hip-hop fashion, so hit the comment section with yours! All of our episodes are available for free download @ takeitpersonalradio.com Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6tFlHlrmZz3HqEa5n2tm0p?si=bjbq2_BxRxSAPVVyEqcWxQ&nd=1&dlsi=71fbad859de64ea6Itunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/take-it-personal/id1175478134Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/c517ebce-c39d-49a1-b8c1-c28776b5534a/take-it-personalPandora: https://www.pandora.com/podcast/take-it-personal/PC:1000206638www.patreon.com/TakeItPersonal https://takeitpersonalradio-shop.fourthwall.com/  (enter promo code "MARCH25" for 20% off)

When you hear the name Positive K, you probably think of One Hit Thunder producer Matt Kelly, who is definitely one of the most positive human beings you'll ever meet. Alas, we're not talking about THAT Positive K, but instead, rapper Daryl Gibson whose early '90s hit "I Got a Man" took the airwaves by storm. K's upbeat vibe was so irresistible that even the legendary Aretha Franklin couldn't help but be a fan. Also, you might want to break out some potholders because you could lose your grip when you hear which phrase Positive K possibly coined, only to see it rise to fame in the hands of another rapper years later. What an absolute fantastic show starting with four independent artists: Pinx, Mellors, Teslanay and the Borderline Birdies. Such a great way to introduce my special guest Positive K. Born August 8, 1967 and was raised in the Bronx, New York and spent much of his childhood near Richman (Echo) Park where early hip hop DJs Grandmaster Flash, DJ Sinbad and Busy Bee would throw block parties. He was inspired as a child to rap when one day The Fearless Four were performing in his neighborhood and invited him to say a rhyme on their mic. Gibson's first musical endeavor was a short-lived rap group with his family named Disco Cousins, and he rapped under the name Baby Breeze. Later, while a member of the Five-Percent Nation, Gibson joined the rap group Almighty God Committee from Queens, rapping under the name Positive Knowledge Allah. However, after their DJ played the wrong side of a record at a televised rap contest and the rest of the group walked offstage, Gibson continued on as a solo act under the shortened name Positive K. He shared his passion for Hip Hop and Rap music and said, "If you're born in the Bronx it's in your DNA" Positive K told me about his favourite songs like Cold Crush and Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five and what drew him to those songs. He also mentioned a ballad from Marvin Gaye "If I Should Die Tonight" and what it means to him. He has gone from strength to strength and has shared three of his own songs for us to enjoy. So kick back and enjoy the show. #hiphopmusic #newstarzshow #musicinterview #rap #positivek #neilclark #xclusive #getitdone #hiphop #interviewshow #musicshow # Exclusive permission has been given by the artist to play the interview and his 3 songs "Get It Done", "Xclusive" and "Nobody". The other titles from Grand Master Flash, Cold Crush and Marvin Gaye are Fair Use for illustration purposes to describe the artists tastes in music growing up and how he became a well known Rap Artist. The dirtiest C-word you can utter as a Mets fan is "cuncel" and people are throwing it around like it's nothing! Yes, the team lost their 2nd half opening series to the Pirates and YES, Lindor and deGrom are both injured, but you can't be out here Cunceling da Saeson up 2 games in the division! Positive K opens up the show breaking down why the team isn't done yet and why fans should remain high on the team despite the awful opening. You know there's been a seismic shift in culture when Kevin Francis Clancy is the guy that needs to talk people off the ledge. We lay out what needs to happen the rest of the way through for the season to be deemed a success, what the front office should be looking for at the trade deadline and we're officially back on deGrom watch until he gets the "all clear." The guys wonder what everyone's fascination was with Gary Thorne this weekend, Clem provides an update on the state of the 96ers and we stand with our guy Stro and tell all the haters to kick rocks. Let's be clear, we're not in the best of situations at the moment, but WE STILL HAVE TIME. This could all just be a blip in the grand scheme of things and it's certainly a blip in terms of the franchise's trajectory with Uncle Stevie taking a buzz saw to everything that was Wilpon before him. So sit back and chill cause ya gotta believe.

With the Summer Olympics going on and episode 89 being a '92 celebration, we couldn't think of a better way to pay homage than with the legendary Sports Illustrated cover featuring the '92 Dream Team. Episode 89 is an appetizer, as we take a quick-trip down memory lane before making a hard stop on one of the greatest years hip-hop. Instead of feeding you the played-out '92 classics, we focus on the deep album cuts and some of our more obscure favorites of '92. We've got music from Positive K, Diamond D, Grand Puba, Too $hort, MC Serch, Compton's Most Wanted, Paris, Heavy D, Gang Starr, Above The Law, X-Clan, Ultramagnetic MC's and DJ Quik to name a few. At the break, we reminisce over '92, discuss some of our favorite albums, share some fond memories and give you the ultimate 1992 time capsule as we cover sports, movies and music. The final Lake Guardian, Uxie, falls into the hands of Commander Jupiter, leaving Bree van Durr & Steve Human with no choice but to storm the Team Galactic HQ. They arrive while Cyrus is giving a whole Hitler-style speech and have to crush him like the Spinarak he is; also allowing them to free the Lake Trio who heads to Mt. Coronet. After summiting it themselves, Steve Human and his rowdy crew goes on an absolutely wild bender and wakes up in a world that's much like our own, except way way worse. An overwhelmed Bree van Durr turns to her old vices—Slowpoke Tails and Crystal Muk—and joins them shortly after. Then a whole bunch of convoluted story happens and basically they meet Satan before finally escaping the nightmare that is Distortion World and go onto the "sunny" shores of Sunyshore City to take on the eighth and final Gym Leader, Volkner. Notes: Featuring "Pop the Glock" by Uffie, "I'm Poppy" by Poppy, and "I Got A Man" by Positive K.
