If you have been following with our Podcast, you know that a lot has been changing in the Automotive Aftermarket in the last couple of years. Stacey discusses why it's so important to really think about time when starting a project, making sure you properly understand how many hours it could take to complete, so you don't get frustrated and end up walking away from it. Then it's back into the mailbag for listener questions about what to do when you get an aftermarket part that doesn't quite fit.

You never know what—or who—you'll run into in the aisles. In this episode, Derek talks to Jacob from the YouTube channel Puddin's Fab Shop. Hear Jacob discuss his journey from jet engine mechanic to “I wasn't cut out for customer service.” He talks about his work on Datsuns, box trucks and Internationals, his dream of owning a '64 Impala Wagon, and his lying under a truck in a flash flood, bench-pressing a transmission into place. Relationship Reddit Stories, OP tells us about a HOA that tries to force them into it, fills his pond and steals his project car.
April is here and Easter is upon us! For some of us, Spring brings on the need to get out our cars and get them ready for driving. For others it is the time to look for a project car to work on since it is now warm enough to spend hours in the garage or driveway bringing it back to life. This time I decided to Ask Rick about not just three but SIX cars to get his take on; 3 were crusty (but promising) restoration projects, and 3 were terrific (and affordable) examples of 3rd generation Pontiac Firebirds/Trans Ams that might be good fits for my son to take on. However, we started by addressing some thought listener questions on business: promoting and dismissing employees. The post TMCP #537: Ask Rick – Lessons Learned to Promote (or Dismiss) Employees; Plus an Easter Project Car Review Blowout! first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.
Like Kenny Rogers sang in “The Gambler”… You got to know when to hold ‘em. Know when to fold em. Know when to walk away and know when to run. The same goes for projects. Stacey gets into how if that dream project keeps getting away, and when it might be time to start looking for something else. Then we hop on the GEARZ bus for a visit to the LIONS museum in Long Beach, California. And finally, Stacey wraps everything up with the differences between Concourse & Thoroughbred restorations and a quick update on the CHEETAH project!
Project cars are never done and they're rarely easy, right? This week Jeff talks about the issues he's sorting out on the Jag before it heads over to the smog shop. And out of nowhere, the Montero alternator died in the middle of a drive. Ron is also having issues sorting out minor issues on a project Porsche he helped manage for a friend. After that we talk briefly about the Tesla news related to the recall, then dive into your questions. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hooniverse/support

Stacey opens this episode with a question from Brandon, a listener who is trying to figure out where to start on his first project: a '73 Olds Omega. This opens up the larger topic of making sure something is the right project for you. Even though that classic muscle car you saw out in the field may look tempting, you might be better off starting with something from the '90s - '00s.
On this episode of Tales of a Gearhead, Stacey walks through the question “What types of tools do you really need?” Then he has some advice to a younger listener about the best ways to look into apprenticeships. And finally, a question that's probably unanswerable, “What is the BEST V8 engine of all time?”
